Never stayed in a barracks but I used the Ikeja cantonment to and fro work for about two years and it was mostly orderly and peaceful except for the day I was almost beaten up because i use the gatemen's slab as a walkway.I cry tire that day before them free me.
I have also frequented Navy town and Ojo barracks and the houses i saw and visited plus the environment was neat and clean mostly.
I don't think the op's lying about his experience though..He just probably experienced the sorry side of barracks life.

I think its just coincidental that these things are happening about the time he just got married.
Rather than blame his failures and misfortune on the poor woman,he should search himself and lifestyle well.
What did he stop doing/doing right as regards his job that got him sacked?
Was he the only employee that got sacked?
What precautions did he or did he not take before committing funds to that business?
Where did he miss it?
Problems like this are more physical than they are spiritual IMO and exploring/questioning the spiritual angles just distracts you from tackling the
problem head on and fast.
Situations change,trying times come,what's turned bad can become good and better if appropriate steps are taken to make it.
