RomanceRe: The Official Engagement :) by Sloan: 3:13pm On Dec 13, 2013
This is another lesson on why NL girls should always put their pictures on their profile and be lady-like in the way they talk. One day, it might just be their turn! Of course, although it is common knowledge, Ibo ladies can not do without Yoruba guys (we still love and keep our Yoruba women) and I am speaking from experience. If you want a good loving man, you better look for a Yoruba man, that way you can avoid all the sad stories in the romance and family section. tongue tongue

noblezone: It is very ironical.

When we say some part of Delta belongs to Biafra, they open teeth like vampires, but in matters like this, they remember and even "support" Biafra!
Biafra is dead, Effiong signed the document that formalized the capitulation, destruction and death of biafra! People like you were the types suya'ed in those days and I think you will make a good suya - obstinate goats usually make the best suyas, you know. If you said Ibos are in Delta, well that could be true, because Nigeria is still one country. However, when (if) Nigeria does divide, ibos would have to go back to their lands. The only lands you may get from Delta is if the people who are deemed to be natives and living on the border between SE and SS vote to be classified as SE, that is the only proviso. Otherwise, it would be said that the Ibos who were in Asaba were chased out in 1967 - 1970 and that is partly why Ibos always cite the Asaba massacre. The only thing they like to hide is that the massacre was started by a fo.olish ibo man who attacked the commander of the Nigeria troops right in the presence of his army. This is the definition of bravery by ibos and they got the response to their stupi.dity. The commander did not die but I am sure he taught some ibos are big lesson they will never forget as long as the earth remains! Now cry me a river!

This is why kidnappers should be killed on first trial! Most Ibos (and sadly some SS) folks are usually the ones that are usually doing this kind of terrible crimes!
Nairaland GeneralRe: The Execution Of 'Doctor Oyenusi' A Notorious Robber by Sloan: 4:39am On Dec 13, 2013
This league of hard core thieves were Ibo, Yoruba and Edo / Benin of those days. Benson Iyamu was Edo, Anini Same. Oyenusi was Yoruba or so? There were also Ibos too and I can come back later with exact names. Capital punishment needs to be re-introduced for crimes like these, kidnapping, armed robbery, murder, high corruption, drug smuggling, oil bunkering, terrorism, gun running or smuggling, etc. Fraud must carry long jail terms of dozens of years and for big fraud, capital punishment with complete forfeiture of all assets. No plea bargains again.

Funnily and curiously, it is Ibos who are criminals today! In fact, they boast openly about it most of the time that they are very bold and most courageous people in Nigeria.
The truth is, SE is living in self delusion and if they think they can feast on the wealth in SS, then they must be living in fool's paradise. With all the noise they make, you would think when the wealth of Nigeria is analyzed, their region constitute about 70% of it, whereas the reverse is the case.

It is now ever clear why whenever there is issue with Federal allocation, none of the SE states are able to pay salaries of the state employees!

With the year on year massive investment in roads, schools, hospital, water works Edo state is witness, should this continue for another 10 years, no doubt the state will witness huge surge in economic activities.

I have always wondered why most of the mega industrial projects embarked upon by private investors recently are hardly in the so called 'INDUSTRIAL' states of the country wink
Spot on! It's really gratifying to see Edo State up there...showing up the way on how a state should be viable! The IGR/Total Revenue is indeed very impressive! This is a more accurate way to measure who is "hardworking" and planning for their people and state. Carry go joor...see you folks at the TOP!

http://www.doingbusiness.org/data/exploreeconomies/nigeria
So business registration fees is now the reason why the IGR of SE states are mostly the lowest in Nigeria? Spin it again until you spin out of control! LWKMD! grin grin The SW continues to attract huge investments and businesses based on requirements that are well-researched and standardized and used all over the world! You want to be like New York City but you don't want to make the kind of investments NY makes or demands from its people? It's funny, assuming if your post is true, it shows that even for almost free (aside hidden red-tape in the SE), investors would still rather pay a mere 50K in the SW to run a profitable business in an organized society with some of the lowest crime rates in the country! That alone is an indictment on the SE and their myopic ways of life! At least you now accept your IGR is low and you have to find a reason to justify it! LWKMD! grin grin
Breeze don blow... fowl yansh don opeh oohhhh cheesy

Now it is more obvious why most people from South East always want to claim South South! With this data, the South East is time bomb waiting to explode, because their so called industrialization is fluke and they are only deceiving themselves.

See my Edo State generating nearly N19bn, ranking far above all of the South Eastern states in IGR. We only need purposeful leadership for the next 15 years and our IGR will increase by 10 folds.

Let the chest beaters continue to beat their chest in deceit. Now wonder they can afford to construct massive schools, hospitals, water projects, like you see happening now in Edo, Lagos, Ogun, Jigawa, Rivers and Kano.

Time will always reveal the truth.
Yes, Omo you're spot on! That is exactly why the need to continually lay claim to the SS (because of their oil wealth) or what exactly will the SS gain from the SE that they cannot do themselves, I mean in the REAL sense! Yes, they call them "lazy" today but the "industrious" people are the ones who are lagging behind the so called "lazy" ones! The Ibos have their eyes on the oil wealth of the SS and they will surely do nothing than transfer that oil wealth to build their lands and when push comes to shove, tell off the SS! The Ibos had a single objective of unitary government back since the days of Zik and the so called "nationalistic" Zik was only true for as long as an Ibo was the one in unitary top authority! Otherwise, how do you explain away the fact that no other part of Nigeria accepted unitarianism but Ironsi assumed power unconstitutionally (and he went ahead to promulgate his useless decree 34) when he knew he was in power and surrounded by mostly Ibos at the very top.

If SS were ever conned into any arrangement with the SE, they will overwhelm you eventually, claim that they developed your states (not your oil wealth or the labour of the natives which dates back to since God know when), in fact if you want to know what Saturday will be like look at Friday. If the SS wants to know what a future Ibo country will be like, look at what it is now! The SE is clearly lagging behind but here they are already changing the goal posts saying it is smaller government, less taxes! Even if all Ibos do is to gain 40% of the economic opportunities of the SS, the SS would have already lost several millions of jobs and billion of dollars to an ungrateful SE. The jury is out anyway and it is left for everyone to make their best decisions!
PoliticsRe: The IGR Debate - Reloaded! by Sloan(op): 7:24pm On Dec 12, 2013
MajeMedia: This is the result of the two philosophies and why igbo land looks the way it does.
You are obviously deliberately spinning the debate and topic in your self-chosen direction to satisfy your ego and come up with justification for the abysmal economies of Ibo SE states. That said, those buildings in Yoruba land were built in the 1700 - 1800s, MOSTLY! The Yorubas lived in urbanized settlements by the 1800s, go and check history! You therefore cannot compare those houses to the ones built by Ibos in the 1970 - 2000s! You already know that Yorubas outnumber Ibos in Nigeria alone by not less than 5 - 10 M but what you fail to mention is our cities are far bigger than Ibo cities! If you go to Ogunpa to go and take sample pictures to post on NL but you ignore that the first churches in those areas were built in the 1800s! You ignore Bodija, Oluyole, Basorun, Agbowo, Oju-Irin, Iwo Road, Idi-Ape, Jericho, Dugbe, Ashi, etc to post pictures from Ogunpa and Agbeni does not mean those places don't exist but you actually seek to misinform your fellow Ibos who prefer to hear and see the type of misinformation you posted!

ontarian: Una see wetin I don dey talk since? Someone posted that Ibo language is this or that in Equatorial Guinea, and here we are wasting our resources debating it.

Even if Ibo is recognized as an official language( for the sake of this discussion), isn't it a credit to us as Nigerians? I was so happy when I went to Cuba and I saw them worshipping sango, ogun and all other Yoruba deities.

I am a Christian and I know what I believe. I am not Yoruba either. I am a nigerian and was happy that a nigerian culture/religion was being practiced in far away Cuba.

As Nigerians, we should celebrate anything nigerian. No matter which part of the country it comes from. Likewise, we should mourn with those who mourn, irrespective of their tribe and religion.

We are damn too tribalist as a people. Na wao.
And you live in Ontario, Canada? Do the Canadians build their advanced economy which you proudly co-opted "Ontarian" by make-believe stories that are not backed by factual data? Your should be so ashamed of yourself! Did you ask for official sources for this information or you just read the topic, saw the Wikipedia entry and that is "official"?? If you were educated in Ontario, you should have your certificate withdrawn and deleted as I am sure no university worth its salt in the most remote parts of the world (let alone Canada) would accept a reference from Wikipedia as "official". Except of course, I know you accepted because it massages your ego, makes you feel more important or panders to that false sense of larger than lifeness of the ibo. That is why you hear things like "Ibos are doing well" whereas everyone and people in Nigeria doing so well on a world scale are the last to even respond directly to any question if they are doing well or not. Would you ever see the likes of the Americans, Canadians, British, etc or even the people who are ahead in Nigeria ever make a statement of how "they are doing well"?? I think the genetic make up of the ibo is mortally flawed!

I gave you information + link, I cannot read the table for you! I am talking only about IGRs here and you can read whatever else you want but that is the focus here only!
PoliticsRe: The IGR Debate - Reloaded! by Sloan(op):
Finally, all the data is up folks! The floor is open for you to analyze and interpret the data.

Here, I will elucidate on the key points and I enjoin debaters to speak from facts only! Do not derail the thread with inanities.

This represents the latest statistics (2012) from the CBN, the FG's most complete source of financial information with data sourced from appropriate government departments. The focus is to answer, from published data once and for all, the leading states in terms of the Internal Generated Revenue, a key measure of the domestic economy of each state or a measure of the earnings coming from the economic activity within each state.

From data, Lagos (non-oil producing, South West Nigeria) clearly leads all the other states of Nigeria. Next, is Kano (North), Ogun (South West), Rivers (South South) and Oyo (South West). All revenues from these South West States have no 13% derivation components because they are non-oil producing states. This is the basic top 5 economic centres of Nigeria as at 2012 Official Statistics from the CBN. It is interesting that if you made the analogy of the best 11 of Nigeria, the South West and North make up 10 out of 11 with Abia (SE) squeezing in only barely ahead of Gombe! I think the north deserves a bit more respect from the rest of Nigeria especially the people who insult them the most from the South of Nigeria (no need to mention names).

Now it gets more interesting: the crown jewel of the SE of Nigeria Anambra, comes up abysmally short at number 21, soundly beaten down by Osun State (SW) and Ebonyi (one of the last states created in Nigeria). This either means the touted productivity of Anambra is either imaginary and non-existent or the state is cooking its books and stealing its people and nation blind by not declaring tax revenues and consequently stealing it or the leadership is inept and unable to be accountable to the people and the nation. It is specially important that the oft-derided Osun State is doing better economically than Anambra.

It is important to mention Delta State because recently some NL have lopsidedly touted it as being somewhere at the top of the Nigerian economy ladder - a falsity given there is no data that supports it and no mention by the official data of the CBN. Delta State surely takes a lot of billions in allocation revenues but the internal economic activity is completely abysmal coming it at a ridiculous 29 out of 37! It means without its oil revenue, it cannot survive or depend on the human resources and their creativity to regenerate and sustain its economy.

Finally, I must mention that while Ekiti is doing relatively okay, it needs to do a whole lot more! The South West MUST not find ANY excuse for not being at the top of any ranking! Yes, Ekiti may have been created last night and having no oil revenues, fine but we must strive to put Ekiti so far ahead and we Yorubas want it up there neck-in-neck with Lagos only! Yes, believe it and Lagos, oh you're pushing the limits and we commend your efforts but it still not enough for us! We need you to be competing neck-in-neck with New York and London! Ondo State has done far worse than Ekit, with no oil revenues! Again, it shows that presence of oil does not imply the presence of good management and effective intellectual resources! Ondo, we YOUR PEOPLE cannot accept your position struggling at the bottom of the pile, some people may accept that but NOT US! I urge US South Westerners not to bat an eye lid until we wake-up to the fact that our fathers did not run an empire for over 500 years huffing and puffing at the bottom of the pile! Ondo get your game on, please! To all of us, I say see you at the TOP!
