Seriously, he could simply have opened this thread with a more innocuous title like When the Moors conquered Spain and Portugal and Art depicting black people in pre-modern Europe. We'll understand and I'll be cheering him up.

But when they start bringing sh*t like African Supremacy when the same Moors that did the invasion was not answering a core African name like Adekunle but bearing an Arabic name Zayed, then they'd bring a lot of shot.

Look at the names of the black people he's sharing outside Spain and Portugal in pre-modern Europe, most of them are European names. You conquered people and you started answering their names. Why did the Europeans living in Nigeria not answer Nigerian names like Emeka, Musa, and Adewale.

Very soon he'll say English is an African language because the Knights of the Round table were all black.

Just look how they switched something so beautiful to something so hideous with lies and false narratives.

-Lord

Alright we get you, stop taking this too personal. If a black guy decide to write something inspiring about his race in a black african forum, you got no right to tell him how he should present it. The last time I checked, spain and Portugal are part of Europe, hence the op starting a thread that says when black african ruled Europe is very right. The name or religion they practised is not part of discussion here. If you are uncomfortable with the info in the thread, just swerve aside and ignore.

So you are a mulatto. I know there gotta be something about you for you to be writing trash about black Africans. Not all mixed race, but most mixed race are the worst when it comes to identity. They try so hard to prove that they are black, at the same time they have serious self hate for their skin and black heritage. I have every right to call a fellow black person a thing. I can only be racist when I'm talking about a person of another race. So black thing quit this victim mentality. If he pain you go kill yourself, life is so cheap in Nigeria that someone will buy your head for 2k. That's how worthless blacks see their fellow blacks.

Nonsense!

-Lord

Not surprised at your comment. You are like Stephen (Samuel L Jackson) in Django. There are many like you that hate their skin, and I'm quite sure your life will be miserable because there is absolute nothing you can do, you will always have Melanin in your skin.
Fyi, you can be a racist to your own race. It is called internalized racist. Black race will be better off without "do no good" like you

Look at this lovely thread and the dignity it bestows on black race. But it saddens my heart to see some black people condemning and refuting the evidences without blinking an eye. These people are the "do no good", saboteurs and haters of their skin. There were many of them during slavery era, they were known as house niggas. These people will fight with every drop of their blood to make sure black people remain inferior to their white "mastas". These house niggas during slavery maltreated their fellow blacks more than white mastas did for them. An example is Samuel Jackson character in Django. Every race has haters of their skin among them but the number of self skin haters among black race is beyond imagination. Anytime an info like this comes out to exalt the image of black race, they will always find a way to bring it down or say something bad about it. These "do no good" blacks are everywhere you go. They hold political positions, they are elites in society and there are many of them on this thread.
How can a black person in his or her right senses say something terrible about this thread. If you think there are some info that hasn't being corroborated or not true, why can't you keep that to yourself and allow others to enjoy the dignity the thread bestow on their black identity. And if you ask them where they are getting the info to refute these evidences, they will give you white people sources. What a shame! The number one problem of black race are black people. Black hate black. I can't put it simpler
These self skin haters that claim these evidences are lies believe the biggest lie told in the history of mankind by white people that Jesus Christ, a man born in the middle east had a blonde hair and blue eyes. What a disgrace!

This is a rebuttal to this thread that has someone found its way to the front-page https://www.nairaland.com/3687019/eredo-ijebu-worlds-largest-man-made

The real largest man-made structure is and has always been the Great Wall of China. It stretched over 5,500 miles from the Shanghai Pass to the Bohai Sea. In comparison, it is more than twice as long as the River Niger which stretches all the way from Guinea to the the Niger Delta. It is also longer than the longest river in the world, the Nile.

https://www.britannica.com/topic/Great-Wall-of-China

In contrast, it is claimed that the so-called Eredo Ijebu is only 160 kilometers long (or a mere 99 miles, which is a negligible fraction in comparison to the Great Wall of China).

Please, we should stop twisting facts to massage our little egos and make us feel bigger and more important than we really are. Also, let us desist from spreading and celebrating false information.

Lalasticlala, Seun

The Op with his hate filled heart and jealousy for Yoruba rich culture can't even differentiate between largest and longest. We all know the tribe he and his likes come from. Thanks for pointing out what the whole world knows about great wall of China being the longest structure in the world, but what the whole world doesnt know or just getting to know now is that somewhere in tropical rainforest of sub saharan Africa a massive earthwork structure was built, and this structure till date remains the largest man-made structure of ancient time. We Yorubas are very very very proud of what our ancestors achieved.

For you Op, until you come up with a structure as big as 30 Manhattans, this your thread is as good as a rotten garbage

mpowa:

Let's put things in perspective

In my own opinion, I don't think she should still be in detention, not because the Law wasn't followed, but because it's a pastor involved, he should try and temper justice with mercy. But I think she deserves to be punished... She desperately need someone to stop her. You guys should stop all these freedom of expression nonsense, people can't just open their mouth and destroy others because they want to either be famous or make money from other people's misfortunes. Freedoms of speech should be that you're spreading True_speech, if it's false speech, there should be a kind of punishment if this society will remain sane. People are crazy here, someone will just wake up in the morning, eat hot eba and that conjuring trash on people...it need to be stopped, because many people don't take advantage of the law against it doesn't mean it should continue... Even in saner clime that we're copying the freedom of speech from takes defamation serious. Some people say a speech is an armless expression. Do you know what they call a good-name? The Holy book says it's more precious than gold and silver. Someone will just destroy that, that you've built over the years in a single day.

It's simple, if you're coming out with any information, be ready to prove it beyond any reasonable doubt, if not, be ready to go take watery beans for a while.

Bro I understand where you are coming from, and I'm very aware Kemi is a very annoying woman. But my problem with this case is that it will create antecedent for the few powerful figures to oppress and keep the mouth of oppressed shut. This is what I mean, If there is a politician, celebrity or pastor suspected to have committed an offence, and someone goes on social media to disclose it, such will just be arrested without finding if what he or she said is true.

What a dimwit! Your doltish, dozy, simpleton brain cannot comprehend the fact that the colour change was as a result of natural occuring chemical reaction where ferrous II change to ferrous oxide, and houses are built based on locally/easily accessible materials which explain the reason why Ibadan houses were roofed with corrugated metal sheet while Florence houses were roofed with terracotta or shingles.

In pre-colonial Nigeria, houses were roofed with locally available materials like palm front, wood and thatch. But during colonial and post colonial era until about 20 years ago when Aluminium roofing sheet gained popularity in Nigeria construction industry, almost all houses built in Nigeria were roofed with either corrugated metal sheet or asbestos. However between the 2 options, metal sheet is 100% better option because it doesn't have any significant health implication unlike asbestos that's carcinogenic. A nincompoop like you won't know that having a house with rustic metal roof is better for your health than an abestos roofed house.

Blah blah blah

Omololu-Olunloyo was first arrested on the 17th of March in Ibadan by the police under the Cybercrime Act and the Criminal Code Act for publishing a letter from a member of Pastor Ibiyomie’s church which accused him of corruption and being involved with actress Iyabo Ojo. She broke the news of her arrest on social media and was then driven to Port-Harcourt where she was arraigned before a magistrate for publication of defamatory matters alongside Walson who syndicated her story.

I know the moment they past that stupid law, it is a medium for the rich and influential to increase their oppression on poor masses. They can arrest Kemi for publication of defamatory matters but no one is carrying out investigation to know if the pastor in question was actually corrupt and infidel

She was held in prison until 23rd March when she was to have the hearing for her bail application, but it was stalled by the absence of the magistrate due to his being indisposed. The bail hearing finally held yesterday and she and Walson were given bail in the sum of N200,000 and two civil servants who reside in Port-Harcourt to stand as sureties. The charge of cybercrime was also dropped against her for the court’s lack of jurisdiction to try the matter.

What a ridiculous bail conditions. 2 civil servants that reside in Port Harcourt as sureties. What a stupid condition. No wonder she couldn't meet bail.

Unfortunately for her, she is still being held because she has another case against her on the same matter, this time before a Federal High Court in Port-Harcourt for defamation and false publishing. Also, all the charges against Walson have been dropped, leaving her alone to face the music.

Of course the charges against Walson will be dropped because this from start is a move against Kemi by an influential pastor that has sheep in the government

This means that Omololu-Olunloyo is neither being held extra-judiciously nor being tried outside the ambit of the law. However, what is unusual is her wearing prison clothes to court, seeing as that she is not a convict and as such, should not be wearing clothes meant for prison inmates.

Kemi wasn't held extra-judiciously but they can put her in prison for defamation of one pastor character without investigation to find out if what she said is true or not. They can make her wear prison uniform without respecting her fundamental human right for freedom of speech. The whole episode is a shame on Nigeria and rivers state judicial system

Conclusion: The antecedent being set by this case is worrisome because the only tool the poor has to voice their opinion on what the powerful and influential people are doing wrong is being strangled, this implies that these oppressors can do whatever they like because if you say anything against them, it will be defamation of character.

Please NLders,

I'm still a teenager but through with my high school. So i decided to look for money and i got this job to work as supporting staff at a microfinance bank. I worked there for 4 months and stopped working Yesterday after receiving this month salary. I travelled today to register for jamb from my salary and when i got back home, my mum said my boss came looking for me that i must submit my resignation letter. I wrote the letter and gave it to him, he collected it and returned it telling me that i must return the salary. He said i should have given the company one month notice before i would have been eligible for my salary or else the company will come to our house and seize some property. I told him to show me where those terms were written in agreement i signed, he got angry and started calling me names and threatened me. Please what should i do, abeg help me.

NB: I left because of my boss(branch manager) and the remaining loan officer started asking me to do jobs that were not part of

Teensway, many people have given you advice, some are reasonable while some are very ill advices. Do not engage in fight or any physical altercation with the man. That will be a very wrong move on your part. If possible don't even argue with him. Don't report to Nigerian police, if your lawyer wants to do, then fine. Because if you report to police by yourself, your boss and police will put you in the middle as a young guy
This is what you need to do. Get a pro bono lawyer like many people has advised, don't talk with your boss again let your lawyer do the talking. You will need to pay back the last month salary because under employment contract, you need to give your employer at least 2 weeks notice so that they can find a replacement for you. However, if your lawyer is good, I expect him or her to make as much as 10 times your salary for you if the case goes to court. This is how he or she should go about it. For the last 4 months you have worked as a janitor which is not under your employment contract/job description, the lawyer will charge the company the salary of that job position. Also, for your boss threatening your life, the lawyer will also charge him for that. To make the case for life threat concrete, try record the voice of your boss the next time he comes to your house. By the time your lawyer tells him all this, I assure you he will be the one begging you to settle out of court.
