WORLD powers are announcing imposition of sanctions on Russia over its invasion of Ukraine.

The European Union, Japan, Australia, New Zealand and Taiwan all hit Moscow with new injunctions on Friday, condemning the military incursion that unfolded over the past 24 hours.
On Thursday, the United States and United Kingdom also unveiled more measures against Russia as both nations' leaders condemned the actions of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Russia is already in some ways paying a price for its aggression, with the country's stocks and currency tanking this week after Putin's earlier decision to order troops into Eastern Ukraine.
On Thursday, Russia's main MOEX index closed down 33%, while the ruble sank to a record low, down 7% against the US dollar. It rebounded on Friday, trading at 84.7 versus the US dollar.

Ukraine is also urging the West to ban Russia from SWIFT, the high security network that facilitates payments among 11,000 financial institutions in 200 countries. And earlier in the week, Germany halted certification of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline following Moscow's actions.
Putin warned Russian business leaders on Thursday that he expected further "restrictions" on the economy, but called for business to work "in solidarity" with the government.

Here's a look at the latest major sanctions.
European Union
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and French president Emmanuel Macron announced new measures early Friday, vowing to inflict "maximum impact on the Russian economy and political elite."
"We will hold the Kremlin accountable," said von der Leyen.
The sanctions are aimed to hit Russia's financial, energy and transport sectors, and include export controls and trade financing bans.
Von der Leyen said they now target 70% of the Russian banking sector and key state-owned companies, and sought to make "it impossible for Russia to upgrade its oil refineries."
"We are also targeting Russian elites by curbing their deposits so that they cannot hide their money anymore in safe havens in Europe," she added.
The sanctions also seek to limit Russia's access to sensitive technology, as well as aircraft components and equipment.
Japan
Japan will impose a range of sanctions targeting Russian financial institutions, military organizations and individuals in response to the invasion of Ukraine, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida announced on Friday.
The range of measures include freezing the assets of certain Russian individuals and financial institutions while also banning exports to Russian military organizations.
"In response to this situation, we will strengthen our sanction measures in close cooperation with the G7 and the rest of the international community," Kishida said in a press conference on Friday.
Australia
Australia's leader said Friday that it would "begin imposing further sanctions on oligarchs, whose economic weight is of strategic significance to Moscow and over 300 members of the Russian Duma, their parliament."
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Prime Minister Scott Morrison added that Canberra was "also working with the United States to align with their further sanctions overnight on key Belarusian individuals and entities complicit in the aggression, so we are extending those sanctions to Belarus."
The new round of measures came after Australia imposed travel bans and targeted financial sanctions on eight members of the Security Council of the Russian Federation on Thursday.
New Zealand
New Zealand is prohibiting the export of goods to the Russian military and security forces in response to the invasion of Ukraine.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced Friday that it would cut trade with Russia and impose travel bans against Russian officials as it continued to call for a return to diplomatic dialogue to resolve the crisis.
"Right here and now we need to take immediate action," Ardern said in a press conference in Wellington.
"This is the blatant use of military might and violence that will take innocent lives and we must stand against it."

Taiwan
Taiwan announced Friday that it would join the economic sanctions against Russia, without specifying which measures were being considered.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Friday that it "strongly condemns" Russia's decision to start a war against Ukraine, adding that it has posed a serious threat to the rules-based international order.
The decision to impose sanctions was made "to compel Russia to halt its military aggression against Ukraine, and to restart peaceful dialogue among all parties concerned as soon as possible," the ministry added.
Taiwan is a global leader in the production of semiconductors.
The United States
US President Joe Biden on Thursday unveiled harsh new measures against Russia, saying: "Putin chose this war."
The new sanctions include export blocks on technology, a centerpiece of Biden's approach that he said would severely limit Russia's ability to advance its military and aerospace sector.
In a statement, the White House said "this includes Russia-wide restrictions on semiconductors, telecommunication, encryption security, lasers, sensors, navigation, avionics and maritime technologies."
Washington also applied sanctions on Russian banks, and whom it described as "corrupt billionaires" and their families who are close to the Kremlin.
It said it would cut off 13 major state-owned companies from raising money in the United States, including energy giant Gazprom and Sberbank, Russia's largest financial institution.
The White House also vowed to sanction two dozen Belarusian individuals and companies, which include "two significant Belarusian state-owned banks, nine defense firms, and seven regime-connected official and elites."
The United Kingdom
The United Kingdom is set to sanction 100 individuals and entities as part of further sanctions against Russia, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced on Thursday afternoon.
In a speech to parliament, Johnson said the goal was "to exclude Russian banks from the UK financial system."
An asset freeze will be imposed on Russian state bank VTB, he added, following the sanctioning of five Russian banks on Tuesday. Russian state and private companies will also be prevented from fundraising in the United Kingdom.
Additionally, 100 individuals and entities will have their assets frozen, Johnson said, adding that this includes "all the major manufacturers that support Putin's war machine."
Johnson also said that "nothing is off the table" when it comes to shutting off Russia's access to SWIFT.
The United Kingdom will ban Russia's national carrier, Aeroflot, and apply sanctions to Belarus "for its role in the assault on Ukraine," the prime minister added.
Going forward, Britain is also hoping to bring in legislation "early next week" to ban the export of certain technologies to Russia, particularly "in sectors including electronics, telecommunications, and aerospace," according to Johnson.
And he outlined plans to establish a new dedicated cell in the country's National Crime Agency "to target sanctions, evasion and corrupt Russian assets hidden in the UK."
"We will continue on a remorseless mission to squeeze Russia, from the global economy, piece by piece. Day by day, and week by week," Johnson told lawmakers.

Armed men suspected to be cultists on Saturday, 26th February, 2022, invaded a burial ceremony in Ebenebe, Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State, killing about 20 mourners.

The burial was that of Ozo, a suspected leader of a cult, and while the corpse of Ozo was lying in state, some suspected cultists arrived the scene and sacked mourners, shooting at them.
Anambra residents are now living in fear over the rising violence in the state. Many are hopeful that incoming Governor, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo will prioritise security of life and property in the state.

A man identified as Wisdom Joseph allegedly strangled his wife identified as Evelyn Alifiya to death after she discivrered a hidden gun in their apartment in Abuja.

A source who narrated the incident stated that after some month into Marriage wisdom moved into his wife’s apartment in lugbe, citing jobless as the reason.
Evelyn who is from Kogi state took responsibility for Wisdom’s upkeep, Feeding, clothing and shelter.
However, Wisdom who is from Abia state will constantly beat Evelyn and would threaten to take her life.

According to Tinkernews.ng Evelyn told his family member about it and they intend to move her out of the house. On Saturday evening she found out that wisdom had a gun in his bag.
It was gathered that Evelyn tried to report the incident to her sister so they could both go to the police station and report but unluckily for her wisdom noticed that Evelyn had seen his Gun.
Wisdom strangled Evelyn to death with his hands, covered her body with blanket and called Evelyn’s father to come and pick up his daughter’s corpse.
The sister of the deceased rushed to the house with some officers of the Nigerian police, they broke down the door and found Evelyn’s dead body.

THE youths in Ubiaja have recovered two of the cars used to cart away cash from the bank robbery that occurred in Uromi Town, Delta State where five banks were simultaneously attacked and robbed on Thursday, February 24, 2022 

According to a message sent by Lizziano Ventures, the youths mobilised to intercept the robbers at a Railway Crossing where they abandoned their cars and cash to escape.
"Update On The Uromi Bank Robbery
Ubiaja is a neighbouring town to Uromi, just about 10mins drive. After the bank robbery yesterday in Uromi, the robbers took the Ubiaja route in a bid to escape but Ubiaja youths on knowing this, mobilised and moved to block their road by the rail line. Seeing the road had been blocked, the robbers their vehicles loaded with the stolen cash off the rail line. They fled using motorcycles.
One of them was caught
The vehicles and cash have been recovered and counting still ongoing at the Ubiaja police station.
An arrest as also been made."

IT was on Thursday afternoon of February 24, 2022, a gang of dare devil armed robbers invaded the commercial city of Uromi, Edo State to cart away cash in five banks simultaneously killing and maiming.

Five persons were killed including Policemen in coordinated armed robbery attacks at the Headquarters of Esan North-East Local Government Area of Edo State.
The suspected armed robbers were also said to have carted away unspecified huge sums of money from the affected banks.
A resident of the sprawling community, the home town of the late Chairman of PPD Board of Trustees (BOT), Chief Tony Anenih, said that the attacks on the banks were too coordinated.
The source, who pleaded anonymity, described the attacks as “too coordinated in commando style and the armed robbers launched the attacks simultaneously. This is novel in this town.”

Other sources in the town listed the banks affected by the activities of the suspected armed robbers to include first generation and new generation banks including, UBA, Union Bank, First Bank, Zenith and Fidelity banks.
“The sporadic shots by the armed robbers caused panic in the town. The robbers came prepared. People are just running helter-skelter,” another source said.
Residents were said to be making contacts with security agencies to come to the rescue of the banks and the residents.
Meanwhile, when contacted, the Edo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Kontongs Bello, confirmed the attacks, saying, ” that’s true sir,” but failed to provide further details.

In the second video, a man was seen thanking God profusely for saving his life saying he survived two attempted robberies, one of such was in 2010 and the present one.

The robbers shattered the roof, rotor doors and fancy glasses at the branch of Zenith Bank shown in the video with a lifeless body of a Mobile Policeman.

A SUSPECTED Ritualist identified as Kazeem Oluwashina Lawal was arrested by the officials of the NSCDC and local Vigilantes in Ibadan, Oyo State on Wednesday, February 23, 2022.

NSCDC officials led Kazeem to the Agidigbo FM, Ibadan to meet the founder, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat to create awareness for the nefarious activities of the suspect.
The woman who led the NSCDC said after the suspect was arrested, they decided to bring him to Agidigbo FM Radio Station but was intercepted by the Amotekun and the Police with the intention to hijack the suspect from them but their efforts proved abortive.

Oriyomi interrogated the suspect who said he had a house somewhere in Ogun State but could not live in it, therefore relocated to Ibadan.  He said he had up to N10 million yet still borrowing to eat.  His statement was not logical enough to trust him for what he had said.
The suspect was taken away to the NSCDC office after interrogation by Oriyomi Hamzat.

Sean Kingston paid a visit to BBC Radio 1’s Smashed With Sloth and discussed topics like his come up in the music business, working with Justin Bieber and famous women in entertainment.

In one part of the interview, Kingston was asked which celebrities he would hypothetically make his wife, who he would sleep with and who he’d avoid forever.
After the 31-year-old said he’d marry Lauren London and sleep with Meagan Good, he was asked who is the most famous person he’s ever been with sexually, and it turned out to be Serena Williams.
Kingston also said that he used to date the tennis star several years ago and always thought very highly of her. He stated that Williams visited him for six days when he was in that nasty jet ski accident in 2011 as well.
“That was my dog,” he said. “That was somebody I really looked to for advice … I use to work out with her. She was just always somebody that really, really looked out for me and made sure that I was good … She’s just always been a great friend of mine. [She has] $300 million and all she wears is Nike tracksuits.”

Kingston also said the nine year difference between he and Williams played a part in their eventual breakup. “I knew what I had, but I just didn’t really follow-up on some stuff that I was supposed to follow-up on,” he explained. “I was kind of young at the time, and I was being young. She’s older than me, so she wanted something different
The last time Kingston said he communicated with Williams is when she announced that she was having a baby with Reddit’s founder Alexis Ohanian. He sent the 23-time grand slam winner a text after the news, and the two exchanged well wishes.
The last time the “Beautiful Girls” singer made headlines was back in February when he said Migos and their entourage jumped him outside of the Sand Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas. There were also shots fired during the melee, and one person from Kingston’s squad was arrested.

In regards to Williams, she’s now in the throws of motherhood with her daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr., who was born on Sept. 1, 2017.

A Lawyer whose identity was not known was rough-handled by men of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) for coming to submit a petition on behalf of his client whose car was allegedly impounded illegally.

The Lawyer was pushed by the Customs men after a superior Officer ordered them to detain him despite performing his duty as a counsel to his client.
The message below and the video accompanying it has gone viral in the Social Media,
"☝�This is the height of high handedness and disrespect for rule of law and order by men and officers of the Nigeria Customs Service.
This is a video of the men of the service manhandling a lawyer who was invited to accompany his client to resolve a petition written by the lawyer on behalf of his client whose car was unlawfully impounded by the customs officers.

A man and a woman have been stoned to death in Afghanistan’s north-eastern Badakhshan province, for having illegal Sexual relations.

Two local Taliban officials confirmed this on Wednesday.
A Taliban official in the province told dpa that they were stoned at a sharia court.
Muslim men and women were not allowed to have sexual intercourse outside marriage under sharia law.
It also states that if a married man has sex with a married woman and there were four witnesses, the couple should be stoned.
“They have confessed that they had illegal relations and they had done this two to three times,” the local official said.
Muezuddin Ahmadi, who is in charge of the province’s information and culture department, said that the issue was under investigation and promised serious action against the perpetrators of the stoning.

In spite of assurances that they will respect human rights, many lower-ranking officers have meted out gruesome punishments in recent months.
Local newspaper Hasht-e Subh reported that the stoning took place publicly on Monday in the Nasi district of the province.
It was reportedly ordered by a Taliban commander.

The rights situation across the country has deteriorated since the Taliban takeover.
Most female students were blocked from attending secondary schools and most women have not been allowed to return to their jobs.
Women must also wear a hijab and be accompanied by a close male relative when travelling long distances.
Men were encouraged to grow beards and wear traditional Afghan clothing while in government offices. Music has been banned in the media.
Critics who protest against these restrictions face harassment or imprisonment.

A commercial bus driver has set himself ablaze after the Lagos State Task Force impounded his bus in Ajao Estate area in Lagos.

PUNCH Metro gathered that operatives of the Task Force from the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, while on Enforcement duties along the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Road area connecting Ajao Estate, impounded some shuttles.
The driver, whose bus was among the impounded vehicles, was said to be protesting the seizure when he suddenly reached for petrol, poured it on himself and set himself ablaze.
A resident, who gave his name as Aliu, said there was resistance between the aggrieved drivers and the task force operatives during the enforcement.
He said, “Task force operatives went to clean up the Airport shuttle area. During the exercise, they impounded some buses and had a face-off with some of the drivers. At a point, one of the frustrated drivers poured petrol on himself and set himself ablaze.”

Another resident, who identified herself as Kudirat, said the victim got the vehicle on hire purchase.
“The driver was frustrated. The Task Force Operatives took the impounded vehicles away,” she added.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, said the State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, had ordered an investigation into the incident.
He said, “The information we got was that there was resistance when Task Force from the Ministry of Transportation went for enforcement. No Policeman set any vehicle ablaze; Policemen attached to the Ajao Estate Police Division were not involved in what happened. However, the Commissioner of Police has ordered investigation into the incident.”

A spokesperson for the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation and Special Offences Unit, Raheem Gbadeyinka, said no officer of the agency was involved in the operation.
He said, “The incident happened around 5am and as of 8am, our men were still at the office because we were looking for fuel for our patrol vans as of that time.”

SUSPECTED ritualists have beheaded a 94-year-old woman on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Ikun-Ekiti, Moba Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the body of the old woman, Mrs Ayodele Asaolu, was found in her house on Saturday evening without her head.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Ekiti, ASP Sunday Abutu, when contacted on Sunday on the incident promised to get back to newsmen on the incident.
Abutu however, confirmed the incident to NAN on Tuesday, saying that officers of the Command had begun investigating the incident.

The PPRO said the case was reported by one of the children of the deceased who was contacted by neigbours after the corpse was found in the house.
NAN learnt that the woman was living alone in the house where the incident occurred.
Some indigenes and residents of the community who spoke with NAN correspondent on condition of anonymity said that they suspected some ritualists to have killed the old woman.
They added that the ritualists must have observed that the woman was living alone in her house before they attacked and killed her for alleged money ritual.
“We were not aware of any movement around her house, she stays alone in her house and we believe it is the ritualists that killed and cut off her head for money rituals.
“We are appealing to the police to assist us to arrest them because if such an ugly incident can happen in our community, nobody is safe,” the residents said.

The Chief Press Secretary to Osun Governor, Ismail Omipidan, has declared that former Governor of the State and Interior minister, Rauf Aregbesola, is not God and therefore, cannot determine the fate of his principal, Adegboyega Oyetola.

According to him: “the general belief among most Africans that ‘a man’s life is preordained and ruled by God’ has continued to play out in the political trajectory of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun.
“From 2011 when he was appointed Chief of Staff to 2018 when, against all odds, he emerged, first as the candidate of the APC, and later, Governor of the State, at a time when many thought it was all over for him, it was obvious that he was on a divine political course.

The names of four Police Officers arrested with DCP Abba Kyari have been released and all including Kyari have been handed over to the National Drug Law and Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on Monday, February 14, 2022 for further investigations.

Others arrested alongside Kyari include ACP Sunday Ubuah, ASP Bawa James, Inspector Simon Agrigba, and Inspector John Nuhu, while the fifth suspect, ASP John Umoru, is still at large.
They were arrested on Monday for their involvement in an alleged case of criminal conspiracy, discreditable, unethical and unprofessional conduct, official corruption, and tampering with exhibits in a case of illicit drug trafficking involving a perpetual transnational drug cartel, the police said.
Deputy Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who confirmed their arrest in a statement in Abuja, revealed that they have been handed over to authorities of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
“The arrest of the officers was sequel to pieces of information received from the leadership of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on 10th February 2022,” said Adejobi who is a Chief Superintendent of Police. “In line with standard administrative procedure of the Force, the Inspector General of Police ordered a high-level, discreet, and in-house investigation into the allegations.

“The interim investigations report revealed that two international drug couriers identified as Chibunna Patrick Umeibe and Emeka Alphonsus, both males, were arrested at Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu on the 19th of January 2022 upon their arrival from Addis Ababa aboard an Ethiopian Airlines flight ET917.
“The arrest led to the recovery of a substantial quantity of powdery substance suspected to be cocaine from the two narcotic couriers. The operation which was intelligence-driven was undertaken by a unit of the Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT).”
Strong Ties
While the case and the two suspects were transferred to the NDLEA on January 25, Adejobi explained that the findings of the in-house investigation ordered by the police chief established “reasonable grounds for strong suspicion” that the IRT officers involved in the operation could have been involved in some underhand and unprofessional dealings, as well as official corruption which compromised ethical standards in their dealings with the suspects and exhibits recovered.
He added that beyond this, the police investigation also established that the international narcotics cartel involved in the case had “strong ties” with some officers of the NDLEA at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu who were said to be on their payroll.
The two arrested drug couriers, according to the police spokesman, confirmed that the modus is for the transnational drug barons to conspire with the NDLEA officers on duty and send them their pre-boarding photographs for identification, seamless clearance, and unhindered passage out of the airport with the narcotics being trafficked.

“The two arrested drug couriers also confirmed that they have been enjoying this relationship with the NDLEA officers at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport since 2021 and had in this instant case of 19th January 2022, been identified and cleared by the NDLEA officers as customary, having received their pre-departure photographs and other details prior to their arrival in Enugu, and were on their way out with the narcotics when they were apprehended by the police,” Adejobi recounted.
“The police investigations report also indicted DCP Abba Kyari, who has been on suspension for his alleged involvement in a different fraud case being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), for complicity in the allegation of official corruption, tampering with narcotics exhibit and sundry unprofessional conducts that negate the standard administrative and investigative protocols of the force, as well as extant criminal laws.
“It is to be emphasised that DCP Abba Kyari’s involvement in these allegations occurred while his suspension from service was subsisting. On the strength of the findings of the in-house Police Investigation Panel, the Inspector-General of Police ordered the immediate arrest and transfer of all the indicted police officers to the NDLEA authorities for conclusive investigation, while appropriate disciplinary actions are also being initiated against them by the Force leadership.
“The concerned officers include DCP Abba Kyari, ACP Sunday Ubuah, ASP Bawa James, ASP John Umoru (at large), Inspr. Simon Agrigba and John Nuhu. They have all been, accordingly, handed over today 14th February 2022 to the NDLEA authorities.”

In addition, the police spokesman said the IGP has formally requested the NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer to ensure the identification, arrest, and investigation of the anti-drug agency’s officers found to be colluding with the international drug cartel involved in the case.
The police chief assured Nigerians of the force’s commitment to upholding the tenets and values of policing, in line with the agenda of ethical regeneration, restoration of professional standard, enhancement of the anti-corruption drive, and respect for the rule of law and inter-agency collaboration in the drive to stabilise the internal security order of the country.

A lady identified as Besida Rukayya has been arrested by the Operatives of the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT) Unit.

It was gathered. The police described the 30-year old lady as a fraudster and impersonator.
She is said to have robbed victims of phones and duped a victim. She also impersonates as a gynaecologist working at the General Hospital, Abuja before her arrest in Abuja on December 13, 2021, it was gathered.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of IGP Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Mr. Tunji Disu told Saturday Sun that the suspect, Besida Rukayya is a suspected serial fraudster who has duped several innocent people in Abuja and Jos, the capital of Plateau State.

He said she always claimed to be a medical doctor at the General Hospital Abuja and that she has and operates a non-governmental organisation (NGO) called Action Aid.
“She has duped several innocent victims from one hotel to another, just as she has robbed people of their phones which she claims she bought from their shops. She would also send fake alerts into their bank accounts,” Disu said.

DCP Disu explained further that one of her victims, Mr. Wada Musa, an Assistant Director of Nigeria Intelligence Agency, Abuja, wrote a petition to IGP Usman Baba Aikali dated April 26, 2021 and said that the suspect, Besida Rukayya allegedly committed “criminal breach of trust, cheating, obtaining money under false pretence and threat to life against Besida Rukkayya who claimed to be Dr Rukkayya.”
He said the IGP/IRT swung into action on May 27, 2021 and moved to Jos Plateau State to search for the suspect. It was gathered that Besida Rukkaya had been accused of duping some people in her hotel, Nana Country Hotel Jos.
He said the suspect absconded from the hotel after scamming the management by not paying her N400,000 bill. She reportedly ran away from Nana Country Hotel, Jos to Grand Cubana Hotel in Abuja where she was arrested on December 13, 2021.
“Meanwhile, the suspect, Besida Rukkayya is in our custody and has confessed to how she used different hotels in Jos as a base to dupe innocent people of their money and phones in their shops,” the police chief said.
In an interview, one of the suspect’s victim, Wada Musa told Saturday Sun: “I am an Assistant Director at The National Intelligence Agency, Abuja, I travelled on April 2, 2021 with three of my colleagues on official duty. We lodged at Nana Country Home Hotel, Jos, Plateau State. When we were at the restaurant, we met the suspect who introduced herself as Dr. Besida Rukayya and that she worked at the General Hospital Abuja as a gynaecologist. She claimed to hail from Jabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, and she also claimed to have a non-governmental organisation (NGO) known as Action Aid. She told me that his father was a retired Air Force officer that he had a big farm where different cattle was being bred.”

“It was at that point that I showed interest. On April 3, 2021, I used GT Bank account to send N960,000 to her which she called me to acknowledge. The second time, on April 6, 2021, I sent N380,000, but since then I have not heard anything. Whenever I called her phone line, it would be switched off. Later, I called one of the managers of the hotel, who went to check her room but unfortunately the suspect, Besida Rukayya had absconded. The total money I sent to her bank account was one million, one hundred and thirty naira to supply me cows. Immediately, I quickly wrote a petition to the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba Aikali who through the IGP/IRT arrested the suspect in another hotel in Abuja on December 13 2021.
Another victim, Blessing Nkrukuka also explained how she was robbed by the suspect of her phones.
Said she: “Besida Rukayya came to my shop to buy iPhones. She priced the phone and told my salesgirl to follow her to her car. But before my salesgirl got to her car, she had already zoomed off. It was later that we learnt that she had duped several people that do the same business. We sell phones, but she would buy and then send fake bank alerts to the sellers. She took my three phones worth N600,000 without payment.
“It was when I heard that the IGP/IRT team arrested her that I came down to ask for my phone, and she said she had sold it to another person. The police operatives are still investigating her and I am waiting to see the outcome so that I can collect my money from her.”

The suspect Besida Rukkayya also spoke with Saturday Sun. she said: “I hail from Kogi State, but I was born in Kano State. I attended Command Children School in Kano. From there, I proceeded to the King College Secondary School Kano. I later went to Bayero University Kano but I dropped out at 200 level in 2014. I came and stayed with my uncle in Maraba before he later died. I got an apartment through my boyfriend who travelled to Turkey. I travelled to Jos, Plateau State and I lodged at Nana Country Home Hotel in Jos. I used the hotel as a base where I duped innocent Nigerians claiming I am a doctor. I told people that I was working at the General Hospital as s gynaecologist. It is true I met the victim, Mr. Wada Musa at the restaurant and lied that I am a doctor, and also that my father is a retired Air force Officer and that my father had a big farm in Abuja. We struck a deal that I would supply ten cows and he sent N980,000 into my account. The second time, he also sent another N380,000. The whole money was one million, one hundred and thirty naira.

“Also, I duped the hotel manager of my hotel bill, which was N400,000 because I could not afford to pay the hotel bill. I eventually had to switch off my phone, and I absconded from the hotel in Jos. I thereafter ran to another hotel in Abuja. It is true I run a non-governmental organisation (NGO) called Action Aid. The money I got after scamming Mr. Wada Musa was what I used on my NGO. I distributed the money, gave it to the widows to gain their support for my NGO. Some of the phones I collected, I sold them and used the money to hire an ad hoc staff and promised to pay them N10, 000 daily. I ordered a person to supply me plenty of bags of rice and Indomie. The supply didn’t work out, as the man discovered that I wanted to dupe him.

“I duped some people when I bought things in their shops like phones, laptops and promised to send money to them and at the end of the day; I would send them fake alerts. I ran to another hotel, the Grand Cubana Hotel where I duped some people there and impersonated as a doctor. I did that until the IGP/IRT team arrested me in the hotel on December 13, 2021. I know that I have been involved in different criminal acts, all to survive in life. I moved to a hotel where I know people can easily be duped. That was where I do lodge”, she explained.

DCP Disu stated that the suspect was a one-man squad doing her illegal business all alone.
He said the suspect would soon be charged to court.

I had a Friend who always boast that he is ready to do anything for money, When I say anything, I'm not talking about hard labour or any stressful job, he always boast that people who are into illegal business doesn't have two heads.
So one year like that, I visited him, we decided to hit the town. We were carried away by the entertainment in the bush bar to the point that we stayed there till 12midnight. So we decided to Lodge in a hotel behind the bar.
We entered the room, the guy kept repeating his earlier statement that he can do anything for money, that money is sweet. I really spoilt him in that bar, so I understand where the "money is sweet" was coming from but the "I can do anything to make money" was what I couldn't trace where it was coming from.
I became very uncomfortable with his constant rants that he can do anything for money. I told him stay in the room, that i want to buy something downstairs.

I left him, paid for another room downstairs and slept there. He called, I told him to sleep that someone came to pick me, that we will see tomorrow.
Tomorrow? He shouted.
Yes tomorrow brother.
Money for hotel nko? Who go pay? He screamed this time.
Don't worry, I don pay for everything, I assured him.
Okay boss, thank you sir. He hailed.
Welcome bro, I replied.
He no know say I dey the same hotel with am, i lock door sleep.
The next morning, he woke up and saw me coming out from my room.
Ahaaan. Guy, u sleep for this hotel?
Me: Errrhm, yeah, I did.
Him: why you go waste money like that na? me and you fit share one room na. Why pay for another room, abi you carry woman last night?
Me: No, I no Carry any woman, I was just taking some security measures.
Him: security measures? Someone is after you?
Me: Yes, I think so.
Him: this is serious, who is after you?
Me: you are the one, I can no longer sleep in the same room with you, the way you keep saying you can do anything for money, you fit cut my head when I dey sleep. Bro, you are a potential ritualist.

Everybody outside was just laughing out loud, even him no fit breath well because of laugh.

Since then, I count hundred meters before I sit beside him.
My daughter, Why am I narrating this funny but serious story to you? We cannot stop having friends, we cannot stop hanging out but we must Stop taking what our friends say for granted. Be sensitive enough to know when people are unknowingly passing a message.
If you have friends who always boast about their ability to do anything for money, be careful around them.
Sometimes these people unconsciously warn us of how harmful they can be when money is involved, but we are not sensitive enough to pick the message.

Daughter m, you can call me with this person's phone and say "Daddy, I will be passing the night in my friend's house, he is the owner of this number, Incase you call me and it is not going through, then call this number.
My daughter, make sure this person is around when you are making this call.
Daughter m, you can add some lies like, Daddy you know that young man's picture I sent you the other day? Yes, he is the one I'm hanging out with. Call him if my line is not going through, My daughter if you can do this, it will go a long way in discouraging him if he had any stupid idea in mind before.

Today is February 11. The good news is that in the next 3 days, we will be celebrating Valentine, the bad news is that many girls will go missing that day. If you are reading this, I want to believe that you will pick some lessons here and be careful.

One person was feared dead and many confirmed injured on Saturday when armed thugs attacked the Soka residence of Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Igboho’s lead lawyer, Yomi Aliyyu (SAN), confirmed the attack on Saturday.
Our correspondent also obtained footage of the injured aides of the Yoruba Nation campaigner.
According to Aliyyu, the armed thugs stormed Igboho’s residence and macheted the associates of the Yoruba Nation campaigner, leaving one of his aides dead.
Media aide to the agitator, Olayomi Koiki, in a chat with newsmen confirmed the attack.
According to him, several of the agitator's supporters, who were in the house during the attack, sustained injuries.
This was also confirmed in a video he shared as he is calling for Doctors to come to the aid of those who sustained injuries.

The thugs reportedly stormed Igboho’s house and fired shots, leading to the death of one of Igboho's supporters.
A voice in the video seen by said, “Can you see this? This is Oloye Sunday Igboho's house and these are his men that have been attacked without doing anything wrong.
"These are the people that got injured, can you see it? They are currently being treated, one of them is dead. The thugs came to attack Sunday Igboho's house. Can you see?”
He said the hoodlums attacked the same house of the agitator that the Department of State Services attacked on July 1, 2021.
The secret police had stormed Igboho’s Ibadan residence in a Gestapo style around 2am on July 1, 2021. The secret police killed two of the agitator’s associates and arrested 12 others who were released months later.

Declared wanted by the secret police for allegedly stockpiling arms to destabilise Nigeria, an allegation he denied, Igboho escaped to the neighbouring francophone country in July 2021.

However, luck ran out on him and he was arrested by Interpol at a Benin airport when he tried to board a Germany-bound flight.
He had since been remanded in a prison in Benin Republic for over six months where he is said to be facing trial for immigration-related offences, amongst others.
The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), said the Federal Government would bring back Igboho to Nigeria after his prosecution in Benin Republic.

DARE devil armed robbers attacked a bank bullion van at the popular Idi-Ape Road-About close to Foodco killing three policemen, four civilians while others sustained severe injuries.

SOJ WORLDWIDE, http://www.sojworldnews.com reports that the armed robbers, who were said to have dressed in police uniform, trailed the van to Idi-Ape Road About.
Eyewitnesses told our Reporter that the robbers laid ambush at the Round About when the bullion van slowed down, they started shooting sporadically to kill and destroy anything in sight.
No one could rightly say if they succeeded in carting away the cash from the Bullion Van.
An Okada man and two policemen riddled with bullets were seen lying lifeless in the video that captured the scene immediately after it occured.  Another man was shot dead inside his car while a car owner with Highlander SUV was hit by bullets but was lucky to be alive.

It was further learnt that the Police Command launched a manhunt for the fleeing robbers, with the assurance that they would be arrested.
All efforts to get police reaction was not successful, as the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Adewale Osifeso, did not pick his call or reply text message sent to his mobile line.

WHEN two elephants fight, the grass and trees suffer the consequences, this is the dilemma of electricity consumers are facing as the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) cut off the light in the Oyo State Secretariat for owing it whopping sum of N450 million and what seemed to be in retaliation, the Oyo Government shut down IBEDC offices in Ibadan bringing untold hardships on electricity consumers.

The action of both parties have generated controversies as the UBEDC said Oyo State Government on Wednesday, commenced the sealing of our offices within the State over some suddenly contrived debts labelled revenue bills and personal income without due notification.
It described the action as retaliatory and illegal, adding that the issue of revenue bills and personal income arising now is quite suspicious.
The company in a statement signed by the Chief Operating Officer, Engr. John Ayodele said the Oyo State Government is owing IBEDC a whopping consumption outstanding of N450million for three years.
He explained that the company as part of efforts to get outstanding paid initiated several engagements through correspondences and physical meetings, but all these efforts yielded no result.

It said: “No business in this country can run successfully with such a huge outstanding, the power we distribute to customers must be accounted for and paid for, we have no choice but to disconnect the Oyo State Secretariat, so it is worrisome to see that the government has sealed off our offices with this underhand and arm twisting tactics, instead of paying the debt owed. This was not done in good faith and it would have a damaging effect on the business and service delivery to our customers .”
The company implored Governor Seyi Makinde to look into the matter in the interest of all concerned as this would further worsen the power challenges and pressure on residents and commercial activities within the state.

Human Right Activist and Legal Luminary, Femi Falana (SAN) who is currently the Counsel for the family of Timothy Adegoke who was allegedly murdered at the Hilton Hotels and yesort, Ile-Ife, Osun State has written a letter to the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba to transfer the murder case against Dr Rahman Adedoyin and others from Abuja to the Osun State High Court.

Adegoke had lodged in Hilton Hotels and Resorts at Ile-Ife upon his arrival from Abuja on November 5 to enable him to arrive early for his examination at the OAU Distance Learning Centre, Moro, Osun State, on November 6 and November 7.
He later went missing and was found dead buried in a grave following police investigation of the hotel owner, Dr Rahman Adedoyin and its workers.
After Adegoke was declared missing, the police were invited and seven suspects were arrested after which investigation commenced.
Later, the Intelligence Response Team, Abuja, took over the investigation and the case was transferred to the Federal Capital Territory.
Upon the conclusion of investigation, the police charged the accused persons to a High Court in Abuja.
The police are charging the owner of the Hotel with illegally disposing of Adegoke’s body, altering and cancelling his payment receipt, and removal of the hotel’s CCTV cameras with intent to destroy evidence.

Others charged alongside Adedoyin are Adedeji Adesola, 23; Magdalene Chiefuna, 24; Adeniyi Aderogba, 37; Oluwale Lawrence, 37, Oyetunde Kazeem, 38; Adebayo Kunle, 35, and some who have taken to their heels.
But Falana in a letter written on behalf of the family to the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba opposed the location where the police have decided to try Adedoyin and others.
The lawyer said the demand was made since none of the elements of the offence to be tried by the FCT High Court took place in the Abuja.
The letter read, “We are Solicitors to the aged parents of the Late Timothy Adegoke (hereinafter referred to as "our clients" on whose behalf we write this letter. Our clients' instructions are briefly summarised and stated as follows:
“The son of our clients, Timothy Adegoke, was a 37-year-old Master of Business Administration student at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Osun State. Timothy had lodged at the Hilton Honours Hotel, Ile Ife on November 6, 2021 while preparing for his examinations in the University. He was abducted in his room later in the night and taken to the bush where he was brutally killed by a group of suspected assassins.
“Having killed Timothy in a gruesome manner the assassins mutilated his body and proceed to bury it in an unmarked grave. The police investigation has since exhumed the mutilated body of the deceased. Based on the complaint of our clients the Nigeria Police Force arrested some of the suspects while others who are currently at large had been declared wanted.

“To our utter dismay the arrested suspects have been arraigned before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory on a 7- count charge of conspiracy to commit murder, murder, conspiracy to commit improper or indecent interference with the body of the deceased, uttering and intent to destroy evidence under the Penal Code.
“However, as all the aforesaid criminal offences were said to have been committed at Ile-Ife you will agree with us that the suspects ought to have been charged before a court of competent jurisdiction in Osun State.
Consequently, we are compelled to request you to use your good offices to ensure that the case file is handed over to the Attorney-General of Osun State to enable him to study same with a view to filing relevant charges against the suspects at the High Court of Osun State.
“Having demonstrated professionalism and unusual courage in the handling of the investigation of the case we are confident that you will not hesitate to accede to our request in the interest of justice. Otherwise, we shall not hesitate to institute legal proceedings to compel you to ensure that the criminal proceedings are instituted pursuant to the Criminal Code (34) Laws of Osun State.”
