Investment / Re: Imagine Living Your Current Lifestyle Without A Salary by soldee: 10:12pm On Dec 30, 2013
Your best bet when the going is good, is for you to build your own house - BUILD not buy.

Your rent is usually the biggest outflow and once you live in your own house, its easier to adjust your lifestyle accordingly when disaster strikes. Whatever your fake lifestyle, when alarm blow, you and your family will learn to stay at home and eat garri instead of sausages in the quiet privacy of your home with your asiri intact grin. Holing up in your own home will also let you re-adjust your mind to focusing on the gradual next steps you'll need to recover.

The worst thing that you can face in a retrenchment situation is the inability to renew your rent. Too many embarrassing options...

Buy that plot and start while the going is good. There are countless stories of people who bought 'one plot somewhere' b'cos the opportunity came along while they were working, they built small-by-small, and they eventually moved into such homes as their base.

Shine your eyes and see beyond the smoke and glitter of keeping up a fake lifestyle.

Its not all roses-------there's obviously something wrong somewhere

Japan withdraws support for HPV vaccines due to infertility side effects

The government of Japan's Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare is speaking out about the destructive side effects coming from popular, worldwide-promoted HPV vaccines Gardasil and Cervarix. Gardasil is Merck's opus and Cervarix is manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline.

As of today, an estimated 3.28 million Japanese people alone have been inoculated with these HPV vaccinations. So far, 1,968 adverse cases have been presented to the Japanese government, detailing severe medical side effects.

The Japanese people are reporting side effects ranging from "long-term pain and numbness to infertility and paralysis." In the wake of these complaints, the Japanese government has decided to withdraw its support for these widely pushed and controversial HPV inoculations.

Global organizations push vaccinations at all costs
Regardless, the World Health Organization stands by the HPV vaccinations efficacy, believing them to be useful tools for "preventing" cervical cancer.

Global pharmaceutical giant Merck isn't listening to the ground reports of the vaccination's awful side effects either, stating in a public decision, "While direct causal relationship between the vaccines and serious symptoms observed after inoculation has not been established at this time...We will continue to collaborate with all stakeholders, including (the health ministry), to monitor and verify safety data toward resumption of active promotion for HPV vaccination as soon as possible."

The government of Japan looking into nearly 2,000 adverse HPV vaccine reactions
The HPV vaccinations have not been stalled or suspended in Japan. The government is just not actively promoting the use of them anymore. These HPV vaccines are still available for free to girls provided through subsidies, mandated by law. The only difference now is that Japanese medical institutions must now inform the young girls the government health ministry does not recommend the vaccines any longer.

In hopes of appealing to everybody, VP of the Health Ministry, Mariko Momoi, commented, "The decision (not to recommend the vaccination) does not mean that the vaccine itself is problematic from the viewpoint of safety. By implementing investigations, we want to offer information that can make the people feel more at ease."

Momoi is one of five men on the government task force leading the investigation of the HPV vaccinations. The task force has heard 1,968 adverse effects and are further investigating 43 of the cases. In the months ahead, the government will be forced to decide to continue withdrawing their support or to go ahead and reinstate their recommendation for the vaccines.

The U.S. uses taxpayer dollars to pay for dangerous Gardasil vaccinations

Despite mounting evidence of Gardasil dangers, other countries remain under the thumb of Merck's vaccinations spell. For instance, the Unites States avidly recommends that teenage girls be HPV vaccinated, as they promote industry-backed studies that tout the vaccination's "effectiveness." The United States actively uses tax payer dollars to fund federal Vaccines for Children programs, which include the use of Gardasil, provided by the Centers for Disease Control. In fact, 20 states have passed laws that set aside funds for Gardasil education programs and implementation. As governments believe they are promoting general health and wellness, it's important to look at the documented statistics of people experiencing dangerous side effects.

South Africa apologizes over Nigerian deportations

South Africa has apologized for a mass deportation of Nigerians, saying officials at Johannesburg's main airport did not properly check their health certificates.

The Associated Press

South Africa has apologized for a mass deportation of Nigerians, saying officials at Johannesburg's main airport did not properly check their health certificates.

At a news conference in Pretoria Thursday, deputy foreign minister Ibrahim Ibrahim said: "We wish to humbly apologize to them, and we have."

Two diplomats from the Nigerian High Commission accompanied Ibrahim to the news conference, but refused to comment beyond a joint statement that described Bosom-for-tat deportations the two countries say should not affect their relations.

On March 2, South Africa deported 125 Nigerians who, according to airport health authorities, carried fraudulent yellow fever cards. Since then, authorities in Lagos have deported South Africans, raising health concerns.

Politics / Airtel Workers Protest Against Slavery - Barricade Abuja Roads by soldee: 5:01pm On Jun 09, 2011
Staff of the telecoms giant complain of neglect and unfriendly working environment

Article | June 9, 2011 - 1:36pm | By Chidi Okoye

Workers of telecoms giant, Airtel, on Thursday barricaded a major street in Asokoro District, Abuja, in protest against alleged unfriendly working environment and conditions of service.

Dele Adegbite, one of the protesting workers, said that they were protesting the perceived cruel treatment of the workers by the management of Airtel Nigeria. He said the management of the company had been insensitive to the welfare of its workers since it took over from Zain Nigeria.

The workers blocked the road in front of the Airtel office in Asokoro. Carrying placards with different inscriptions, they decried the perceived cruel and inhuman treatment meted out to them by the management of the telecommunications company.

Some of the placards read: “We are tired of Indian slavery”, “Airtel sacks pregnant women”, and “Say no to Airtel or Indian slavery’’.

“We are carrying out this peaceful demonstration to protest the way the Indians have enslaved us in our own country,” said Adegbite. “Since they took over from Zain, the policies have been obnoxious. They have been taking us for a ride; they suspended our healthcare services; they have removed our leave allowances, reduced our bonuses and they have increased working hours.

Pregnant workers have been denied maternity leave by the management. Some of our systems are down that is why our services are bad. They even threatened to engage new staff if we insist on some of these issues.”

He said that efforts by the workers to communicate with the management in the past were rebuffed, adding that the workers were not carried along whenever major decisions were taken.

He said the workers want Airtel management to reverse some of its unfriendly policies to enable them to carry out their duties diligently, adding that the workers want the management to implement the salary increment as contained in their employment letters.

Sunday Alhassan, the President of the Nigeria Telecoms and Postal Workers Union, who addressed the protesting workers, said that he was billed to meet the Airtel management on the crisis.

Efforts to get the reaction of the management of the company was unsuccessful as security personnel at the gate said that no one was ready to comment on the matter.
Politics / Re: Some Sensible Ideas On How To Solve The Boko Haram Problem by soldee: 10:02pm On Jun 01, 2011
The only way to keep Nigerian insurgents in check is to capture their leader, keep him in custody, and use whatever means to make him cooperate and remote control his followers from prison - or wherever.

Boko Haram right now has no solution because while the military used superb intelligence to capture their leader, they handed him over to the police who brutally executed him while onlookers videoed the show on their mobile phones and the scenes went viral all round. Those clips are what are fuelling the new spate of violence we have now. Pockets of revenge with no leader, with each capsule hoping to do something violent enough to deserve the leadership position.

Its still a long way to go. They are scattered. Who will gather them and talk to them? Its like slamming a beehive on the ground and then using a gun to chase each bee. Smh!

Politics / Re: Say Your Prayer Towards GEJ's Presidency by soldee: 10:27pm On May 29, 2011
First I pray that God will heal our land, our Country Nigeria.

I pray that God will make the good in Mr. President's heart overcome,

I pray that God will guide Mr. President to see things as they really are,

I pray that God will give him the strength, both of character and of will power, to act as an assertive leader of the world's most populous black nation,

I pray that God will diminish the power of naysayers and psychophants and evildoers around him,

I pray that God will wash Nigerians with the spirit of forgiveness, patience and acceptance to give Mr. President's ideas a chance to flourish,

I pray that Nigerians will have a better life in Mr. President's tenure,

I pray that all Nigerians, regardless of their individual biases, would for once put all hands on deck and stop moaning,

I pray that God will make Nigeria great again,

Amen
Politics / Re: House Speakership: Northern Reps Reject Zoning, Insist On Competence by soldee: 11:08am On May 07, 2011
Fortunately or unfortunately NL analysis are not on the table at Obudu or on the floor at NASS!

As it is, the battle for senate presidency is between NC and NE, GEJ wants it to stay in NC. House Speakership is between SW on one hand and NC, NW, NE on the other. SGF is between SW and SE. PDP Chair has been technically handed to the North, but let's await final announcement. South-South doesn't seem to be featuring much in negotiation for now, maybe wait for ministerial slots. It will only be a couple of days from now, no need to be getting hot under the collar.
Politics / House Speakership: Northern Reps Reject Zoning, Insist On Competence by soldee: 4:14pm On May 06, 2011

People's Daily

http://www.peoplesdaily-online.com/news/national-news/11963-speaker-northern-reps-reject-zoning-insist-on-competence

An imminent showdown looms between members of the House of Representatives from the North and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over the choice of the Speaker for the House to be inaugurated on June 6.

While the PDP that has the majority in the House is insisting on zoning the office of the Speaker among other principal offices, northern lawmakers, elected on the platform of the party have remained adamant that the zoning arrangement no longer exists in the party.

The members, who for the past one week have engaged in series of meetings, Peoples Daily learnt, have already mapped out strategies to frustrate any attempt by the PDP national leadership to introduce zoning in the election of a new Speaker during the inauguration of the new House.

On the other hand, the PDP, it was reliably gathered has been under pressure from the South- East geo-political zone to cede the post of speaker or Senate President to the Igbo.

However, according to a source close to the PDP leadership, the demand for the Senate presidency by the South-East may not materialise as the party’s leadership in conjunction with President Goodluck Jonathan have agreed to allow the incumbent, Senate President David Mark from the North-Central to continue in office.

The decision to have Senator Mark continue in office, which was said to be at the insistence of President Jonathan has left the South-East to concentrate more on grabbing the post of Speaker, a situation said to be vehemently opposed to by House members from the North.

The Northern lawmakers, according to a competent source, hinged their demands on two grounds; that the zoning arrangement in PDP is dead with the emergence of President Jonathan as the party’s presidential candidate and his subsequent election as President-elect in total breach of the party’s constitution.

Based on provisions of the PDP Constitution, the North, after the demise of late President Umaru Yar’adua a year ago should have been allowed to complete its eight-year tenure before the presidency shifts to the South.

However, Jonathan and the leadership of the PDP ignored the provisions of the party’s constitution and instead said the President had every right to contest for the presidency.

The northern members, who are in the majority in the House, our sources said, would use the same argument by the PDP and President Jonathan to frustrate any move to apply the zoning formula in electing a new Speaker.

This much was confirmed to Peoples Daily yesterday by one of the influential ranking members of the House, Rep. Faruk Lawan (PDP-Kano), who said that “in looking for a leadership for the next House, our guiding criteria will be competence, credibility and experience, and nothing more.”

Rep. Lawan is the chairman of the Integrity Group that engineered the ouster of former Speaker, Patricia Etteh. He asserted that “members of the House will choose those to preside over our affairs without being guided by any external force.”

According to the re-elected third-term lawmaker, “we will not limit our search for competent leaders to any geo-political zone,” adding that “we have already started grouping to identify those among us whom we believe we will give the mantle of leadership that should be accountable to us.”

Though Rep. Lawan declined to make a categorical statement on the fate of the PDP’s zoning arrangement, another ranking member, who pleaded for anonymity told Peoples Daily yesterday that the position of the Speaker would be thrown open to all interested candidates from any zone, adding that “we will only try to ensure that we reflect federal character in choosing our leaders as provided for by the 1999 Constitution.”

Confirming the resolve of the Northern members, another re-elected member, Musa Sarkin-Adar on Wednesday, said members from the North would not observe the PDP zoning formula when electing the leadership of the incoming House.

In an interview with the Hausa service of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) monitored in Abuja, Sarkin-Adar said the PDP zoning arrangement has been breached by the emergence of President Jonathan as President-elect.

Sarkin-Adar, who is the Chairman of the House Committee on Electoral Matters said: “it is not an offence for the North to demand that zoning should be jettisoned in the PDP. We were deceived before, because it was said to be in the Constitution, but it was breached for a particular purpose. Therefore if we now say this is how we want it, then should we be blamed?

“Zoning in PDP is dead with the election of Jonathan as President. To bring it now is a betrayal, deception and making us look foolish; therefore we will not allow it to stand in the House.

“The House should be allowed to make its choice freely, for credible people to emerge as leaders, those whose allegiance would not be to the party or to any external forces, but those who would command the respect and loyalty of all members,” he said.

To underscore their seriousness, some members in the race for the post of Speaker have already commenced consultations and mobilisation of their colleagues, both re-elected and the newly elected ones to sell their candidature.

Among those known to have declared their interest are Rep. Yakubu Dogara from Bauchi state and Rep. Jerry Mamwe from Adamawa state, while speculations are rife that Reps. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal from Sokoto state and Faruk Lawan from Kano state would soon join the race.

It won't be a surprise. Rumour has it that Tinubu has mortgaged the SW in exchange for the slots of Minister of Petroleum, Attorney-General, EFCC boss and some oil blocks + a shot at the Presidency in 2015. GEJ is said to have convinced him with the argument that ', OBJ is your enemy, not PDP'.

What would be news is if lagosians were to cry out against the alleged Pdp 'Rigging Machine'. Especially when you consider that Tinubu's area boys will not be ordered to come out to fight. Hmmmm, a PDP Lagos!!! Conspiracy theory of course, but one to watch closely!!
