Travel / Re: Travel Insurance For Nigerians? by soldee: 3:11pm On Dec 01, 2009
You can obtain international travel insurance from any of the HMO's in Nigeria like Hyegia, Zenith Medicare, etc. In fact, most Banks have HMO's that run and offer such services. Goodluck!
Politics / Re: Dr. Goodluck Jonathan Comes Under Pressure To Resign by soldee: 11:32am On Dec 01, 2009
Rumour has it that Jonathan is being asked to resign because the North cannot stand the idea of power shifting back to the south after just two years since it was passed on from an eight-year Southern rule under Obasanjo. The plan I hear is for David Mark to hold sway for three months and conduct fresh elections that will bring in another Northerner as President, but the compensation for Jonathan will be that he comes back as VP for the remaining eight or whatever years, and then he has a shot at the Presidency after that.

Whatever the case, if any of this is true, I'll be more worried about the return of the Military Boys because with David Mark in charge, you can be sure that the IBB's of this world are back in the game!!
Jobs/Vacancies / Telecoms Job Offer In Kano- Should I Go? by soldee: 3:36pm On Aug 20, 2009

Family / Re: Am I Wrong To Want To Marry A Rich Man? by soldee: 3:32pm On Aug 19, 2009
I dont see what all the fuss is about anyway. Most rich men marry gold diggers! If the girl wasn't digging, then her family was doing the digging on her behalf. Its called looking for a suitable husband for our daughter - very legit in these parts! In fact when its the parents doing the digging, the whole game has a very decent blanket over it!! And its only when the man has no family ties that he should fear a takeover. When both the man and woman have family ties, then family binds all - neat. And by the way, nobody has perfected the art of gold digging like the rich themselves, so who are the rug-rats to give it a bad name. Its just insurance if you ask me. When all is said and done: Really rich men dont usually include 'Rich' in their criteria for ideal woman!!

People please, Uju is obviously not a 'No Romance with No Finance' babe! She's talking of the long haul o! Marriage involves a lot of bills, bills, and more bills. After the honeymoon there's house rent, furniture, pikin, school fees, upkeep, food, clothes, more kids, things getting old, needing replacement, borehole, electricity, gen, fuel, car plus S = cars, hospital bills, permanent house amen!, extended family bills, holidays, not to talk of maintenance, man, it never ends. I wonder why guys on this thread are shouting blue murder! Una wan marry then stop spending?? Abeg stop EMBARAZING us!!

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Do Stammerers Have A Good Chance In High Stake Job Interviews? by soldee: 10:45am On Aug 17, 2009
I know some tricks that can help stammerers - really:

1) While practising on your own, try reading out loud while holding your tongue down with a teaspoon - practise frequently and you'll find that you are in better control of the muscle in your tongue.

2) Harden your lips into muscles till they feel like two strong tight ropes, then read as many articles in a newspaper out loud. It may sound easy but its not. With time you'll gain control over your lip muscles as well, and you'll be flowing like a player.

( I actually know a chronic stammerer who speaks perfectly only when he's toasting babes - I swear!! Any other time, ha, u'll want to slap him. His friends started thinking he was just pretending 'cos he kept getting all the babes, lol!!)
Politics / Re: Is Clinton Really Unfair To Efcc? by soldee: 5:34pm On Aug 14, 2009
@Igbalajobi

I get your point but lets not lose focus here. What makes him better? The fact that he had a better PR unit than his successor? EFCC catches criminals everyday to this date, Farida just probably doesn't think PR is of any use or just has no clue. I know of many ordinary people who have recovered their money from everyday 419ers just by involving the EFCC in both Ribadu and Farida's times

If you're going to take on a job as sensitive as EFCC Boss, then there should be no partiality, and more than anything, you should not climb the rooftops portraying yourself as whiter than the angels when you're just one of the PDP mad-hackers. Ribadu was part and parcel of OBJ's innermost kitchen crew - so how can you say OBJ is filth and Ribadu is clean? Do you even realise that his intimate proximity to OBJ and the nature of his portfolio meant that OBJ did not hide any of his dirt from him? Of course not - he was privy to his master's intentions even before anyone else!- and it has come to light how dirty and devious those intentions were. So why didn't he resign and refuse to work for OBJ? WHY? As Chief Rottweiler his brief included ensuring safe passage for all the loot we now know OBJ moved so what are we saying?

You talk about those he prosecuted but leave out those he protected. If if those he prosecuted stole, did he as EFCC Boss prosecute them because they stole, or because they took their loot to locations not previously agreed to by OBJ? - locations that were outside the regulatory reach of OBJ and his PDP Treasury masters?

What makes him far ahead of the Waziri's and Ibori's and Igbinedions and Andoakaas? The fact that he is no longer chopping? that he is no more for PDP? that he is a young chap who we all looked to to sway the system and be a hero and even though he went in and acted like a JJC Rambo let loose in a toyshop and is crying because the shop had to close at closing time, we still want to console ourselves that the old folks gave him a raw deal? Abegi

MY POINT IS:
Its the same shit, different day. Ribadu is no better than any of those parading themselves out there today!!!

MY POINT IS:
America and Co. know that our leaders dont give a f**k so when they want to call us bad boys, they send those who we can spit on without consequence!!
Politics / Re: Is Clinton Really Unfair To Efcc? by soldee: 4:08pm On Aug 14, 2009
I cant seem to understand why we keep saying Ribadu was better than Farida, Ha!!

Its common knowledge that Ribadu's brief was to go after three sets of people 1) those who squandered PDP campaign funds (OBJ's lifeblood)  :oon personal use (e.g. Tafa Balogun and Dariye), those opposed to Third Term (i.e. OBJ's sovereignty), and those who dared seek the Presiency (i.e. who dared assume that one day OBJ will not be in power)!!

Ribadu was Obasanjo’s Rottweiler, ready not to bark but also to bite mercilessly anyone who dared questioned his master about his “God-given” right to run for a third term. ", Obasanjo needed someone young, ambitious and unknown whose loyalty to him will be total in return for promotion, influence and money. A young unknown officer in the person of Ribadu became the tool and ideal candidate. Ribadu was only important as long as Emperor Obasanjo pursued a third term agenda. His relevance, therefore, expired when the third term brouhaha was finally interred, "

Ribadu only fought corruption on Obasanjo’s terms which was to emasculate political nitwits and favour political boot lickers. He was answerable to no one but Machiavelli  Obj.- now his time has passed and we have a new Rottweiler. That her Boss has not perceived any threat serious enough to order her to action does not make her toothless. Lets approach 2011, and I can bet you that just as Ribadu started to work overtime in the wake of the Third Term project, so will Madam bare her fangs when the time is right

The only diference between them both (Ribadu & Farida) is that Ribadu tried to paint his work in good light to fool 'yuppie intellectuals' and impress his Boss. Farida's Boss obviously can't be bothered!!

As for Hilary Clinton, America has realised that the opinion of foreign countries in Nigeria has as much clout as breeze - the politicians no send and there is nothing America, England and them all can do about it. That's why Obama can't come and risk embarrassment so they sent Madam Hilary. If we embarrass her, no problem - it probably wont even make the news!!!

The only way change will come is when you make an example of some people. Catch these these thieves and prosecute them publicly. It irritates the shit out of me how the rest of us carry on with useless talk when lets face it, ALL the stolen money is still in circulation!!!!!

Ghana was worse than Nigeria pre-Jerry Rawlings - Google for their past gist if you dont believe - how many years down the line and look at them now. Even America is pointing at them as the shining light of Africa.

Wo, all this Nigeria is too destroyed to make it is bullshit. Get rid of the thieves one by one and u'll see. The only problem is - who wan do di work? All of us blabbing on dis page, if Odili or Ibori calls us to be his PA or SA - fiam!! Dats di end of Comrade yans. ,

Checking the expiry date on beauty products:

This info is not exhaustive so please add any other useful info you may have for other products not listed. Also, ALWAYS remember to check the expiry date on products BEFORE you pay at the counter. It'll save your skin and wallet a lot of havoc!

For CLINIQUE products the batch number usually contains 3 numbers. the last one means year, the middle one means month.the first letter means production location. so, C81 means it was produced on august 2001. if it's produced on Oct. Nov. and Dec, the middle number will be letter of A, B, or C. for example, AC5 means Dec. 2005.

The first letter signifies the production run that month - A was the first run, B the second run and so forth. The second letter or number signifies the month of production:

1 = January
2 = February
3 = March
4 = April
5 = May
6 = June
7 = July
8 = August
9 = September
A = October
B = November
C = December

The final number indicates the year of production. So A45 means the product was made in the first production run of April, 2005. and all ESTEE LAUDER group products use the same way to indicate the production date. such as EL, M.A.C., ORIGINS, LA MER,  so next time when you buy something, make sure to check the production date first.

As for CLARINS, the batch number begins with the year number followed by 3 numbers standing for the days and another 2 numbers standing for specific batch. for example: 505131: this means it was produced on the 51 days of 2005. so, the 51 days is during the second month, ie, Feb. the last 2 numbers is specific batch number so u don't need to worry about that.

@ Marissa

Make CLARINS LOTUS OIL yourself and SAVE MONEY grin!! I came across this recipe sometime ago on the internet; I haven't tried it yet because getting essential oils here in naija is not very easy. However, if u have access to the oils, this may save u a small fortune. I'm pasting the recipe exactly as it was poted:

FACE OIL RECIPE:

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO LOVE CLARINS LOTUS OIL, IT MAY BE MADE THE SAME WAY, REPLACING THE ESSENTIAL OILS AS FOLLOWS:

1 OZ KUKUI NUT OR HAZELNUT OIL
5 DROPS LOTUS OIL
3 DROPS BAY LEAF OR ROSEMARY OIL
2 DROPS LAVENDAR OR GERANIUM OIL
1 DROP SAGE OIL
1 DROP CHAMOMILE OIL

KUKUI NUT OIL MAY BE REPLACED WITH HAZELNUT OIL IF YOU DESIRE. Mix it up in an amber (dark colored) glass bottle and make sure to shake it up before each use!

Clarins uses hazelnut oil, but I prefer kukui nut oil as it has a longer shelf life. Hazelnut oil should also be refrigerated, so if you choose to use that, keep that in mind. I also replace the geranium oil found in Clarins with lavendar oil simply because I have it on hand, but both work very well.

For those of you who have had luck with DECLEOR YLANG YLANG AROMESSENCE, I have found this to be a great cheap replacement.

1 OZ. KUKUI NUT OIL
6 DROPS YLANG YLANG OIL
3 DROPS LAVENDAR OR GERANIUM OIL
3 DROPS ROSEMARY OR BAY LEAF OIL

MIX IT UP IN AN AMBER GLASS BOTTLE AND MAKE SURE TO SHAKE IT UP BEFORE EACH USE!
You can substitute the kukui nut oil with hazelnut oil if you like, but it must be refrigerated and made in very small batches as the shelf life is not very long.  I chose kukui nut oil to replace it for preservative purposes, and find it works just as well.

If you are pregnant or breast feeding, DO NOT use the rosemary or geranium oils, they can be toxic to babies.  I replace geranium with lavender oil and rosemary with bay leaf oil in this recipe when I make it for this reason.

Hope this helps someone save some money and their skin wink:

I've heard rave reviews about Clinique products - especially about the famous Clinique Glow!!! Wish their products werent so pricey.

I have very oily skin, and lots of problems with whiteheads. I tried everything but what worked was Clinique Clarifying lotion4. It gets rid of ALL oil, and even exfoliates with time. I swear if u compare my before and after u'd say I've had laser treatment. My skin is so much better after just about six weeks - no pores at all!!!! Its a bit strong sha, but if u have used hydroquinone in the past or any other product that has affected the texture of your skin, try this one. Use no.3 for weaker strength. It however dosent brighten that much though. wink At least not for my case  grin grin grin

Update:
I just received my new ID card, the shot was taken about four weeks ago - WOW!! This Clinique don try sha!!! cheesy grin grin grin!! Definitely a keeper!!!!!!!! I use simple soothing toner with it to calm my skin. Please people, I desperately need that perfect moisturiser to complete my regimen - one that is not pricey abeg!! any other good stuff?? cheesy

@ Moody Lay
I'm 31 years old and have lived all my life in naija. I travel out only for the holidays, only during summer, and I never stay more than three weeks - 'cos I end up missing home.

I LEARNED about using sunscreen to protect my skin when I was about 16 - then I never missed any edition of Cosmo - thanks to my big sis. (  cool cool some of us at home naijas really dont need to leave to be exposed  cool cool cool). But then I thought sunscreen was for the oyinbos as per their skin is so delicate and prone to aging. I never for the life of me thought that dear old african skin needed any special care. I actually thought all I needed was to play with make up and I'll be fine. Now however, I'm a lot wiser. The earlier u take care of ur skin, the longer it'll look better.

I know ure not recommending bleaching products for anyone, I neveer said u did. I only have a problem with ur implied assumption, that if i want to get rid of dark grey shades it means i'm trying to ", use different soap or cream to lighten their face undecided undecided"

The topic of this thread actually stresses BRIGHTENING as opposed to lightening.

Like Suze says, naija has harsh sun all year round. Depending on where u are, u may need as much as an spf45 sunscreen, and those things are not even pleasant to use! imagine putiing that gunk OVER ur regular face creme shocked!!

Again, this thread is to help us dark skin beauties explore what works for black skin. A lot of info out there is for caucasians and asians. This is just a simple home-grown opportunity to share and help ourselves. So ladies please keep the skin and product info coming. Lets not turn this thread into a scoring ground.

Meanwhile cool cheesy I had a local body polish treatment this weekend - WOW-. Its called halawa, done by hausa natives. It involved taking ALL the hair off my body with some sort of sugar dough - like 100 times less painful than sugar waxing!! then my body was scrubbed down with a local scrub (I'll get the ingredients list) and then I was POLISHED head to toe with a fragranced tumeric concotion. U wont believe the effect - I no fit shout!!!! So good I'm going to post the details here! The defuzzing must done by an expert sha, but the scrub and polish can be easily achieved by DIY. Amazing what local remedies can do for the skin - talk about Spa Experience - and for just 3k!!! grin grin grin
PS - It was done in my bedroom so I just walked into my bathroom and showered off.

Please also post any local remedies here o cheesy grin cheesy

Firstly, the reason why I referred to BLEACHING is because u started ur text by saying “…………………When will people learn to soap using different soap or cream to lighten there face undecided undecided

Secondly, and for the avoidance of doubt, the skin on the face is THINNER than the skin on the body – Google it if u want. If it thickens and darkens, it is because it has been exposed to environmental factors without protection, like sunscreen, and there is an overproduction of melanin to counter the environmental effect – emphasis on OVERPRODUCTION. Again, Google away for evidence.

If you live your life without sunscreen, you will definitely have a face darker than the rest of your body. However, if from an early age, you have used sunscreen that matches ur environment, chances are that your skin will maintain its NATURALLY lighter glow even with age. Now, some of us only got to know all of this later than sooner, and we already have not only thickened skin on the face, but also layers of dead skin cells that contribute to dullness.

So we now know to use sunscreen – yaaay!! But some of us actually want to exfoliate the dullness and darkness safely and gently. By the way, is ur doctor a MAN? Any surprise he’s okay with shades of gray??

The purpose of this thread is to share experiences of what works, whats good, whats bad, etc. so please it’d be better if u suggest products and tell us ur experiences and not dish out stuff like “…………………When will people learn to soap using different soap or cream to lighten there face undecided undecided

I’ve also discovered a website where women all over the world tell their experiences with a vast range of beauty products, and believe me they tell it like it is. You can even check whether they are black, white, asian etc so u know whether to take their advice – even for perfumes, make up tool – the works!! Its http://www.makeupalley.com. Registration is free and fast and u can post ur own reviews to enrich the sharing experience!

Enjoy, and do keep the info coming

Its the stearates in Makari that make it so bad. Stearates are synthesized to behave like the skins natural oils. Unfortunately, the skins natural oils - sebum - collect and losge deep within the inner layers of the skin. Because sebum is natural to the body, it is easiliy gotten rid of by soaps and cleanser. Stearates on the other hand lodge really deep within the skin - which is why they work so fast, but, when they get deep under the skin, they STAY there, far beyond the reach of regular soaps and cleansers. Then because they are not natural oils, once they stay overnight for a couple of days, tehy become dirt particles and begin to rot. The skins pores that contain them then become boils, cysts and postules. They're trapped chemicals the body cant get rid off.

So Ladies!!! when buying ANY face product, check the ingredient list to be sure there are no stearates there. Cysts, boils and pimples caused by stearates usually disappear within a few days of stoppage of the culprit product.

stearates are however very good ingredients for body products, lotions and cremes - especially good for hands and feet - they really go deep to soften the body skin. I guess its because the skin on the body is less delicate so it can better deal with the stearates.

@ Moody Lady

Sorry Dear, but by nature, i.e. assuming there is no environmental damage to the skin, the skin on your face is NATURALLY lighter than the rest of your body. Scientific evidence shows that the skin on the face is the thinnest of the whole body, with the eye area being the most delicate i.e. the lightest - thinner skin = lighter shade; thicker skin = darker shade. When the sun stresses the skin on the face, the dermis thickens and darkens to shield it. If the face is darker, it is evidence of environmental damage, which any normal beauty-conscious human being would want to rectify. The point of this thread is to share ideas on solutions that are not BLEACHING solutions. We all know that any product that removes dead skin without abraision will show the lighter fresher skin below the surface. We just want to know what these products are. We're not looking for products that will strip or peel off living skin cells aka BLEACHING PRODUCTS!

I think we should stop seeing women who want better skin as potential BLEACHERS. If half the black women in the world want lighter faces maybe its a baisc instinct - nature intended that the face be lighter. Try living in Alaska for a month using only vaseline and see if your face dosent get lighter than the rest of ur body.

Anyway, back to the post. A almonjoy, I'm keeping to the advise of stay out of the sun, plenty of water, sunscreen, etc, that should prevent Further damage. But I still need to get rid of previous damage gently. Any more ideas please?

Meditations for the Mysteries of the Rosary

Joyful Mysteries

The Annunciation – “behold the handmaid of the Lord, be it done unto me according to your Word”. May our hearts always be fertile ground for the Word of God to take root and grow. May we always say ‘Yes’ to our Lord. May God give us the strength to always accept his holy will regardless of the inconvenience it may cause, amen.

The Visitation – Mary visited Elizabeth and as she spoke, Elizabeth’s baby leapt with joy, recognizing the presence of Jesus, and she Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. May we be inflamed with the Holy Spirit as our blessed Mother brings Jesus to us. May we see Jesus in others, and may our neighbor always see Jesus in us, amen.

The Birth of our Lord – “Joy to the World, our Lord has come”. May we always live recognizing our Lord’s presence; in the joy that our salvation is secured, amen.

The Presentation in the temple – As Mary presented Jesus to God in the temple, may our Lord also accept us from her hand as she presents us to him in Jesus name, amen.

The finding of Jesus in the Temple – May we experience the joy of re-discovering Jesus in our daily lives, in the people we meet, and in every circumstance we find ourselves, amen.

Sorrowful Mysteries

The Agony in the Garden – In all our worries and tribulations, may the memory of our Lord’s suffering at the Garden of Gethsemane be a source of consolation. He has borne our sufferings.

The Scourging at the Pillar – As Jesus’ flesh was torn by the whipping of the soldiers, may we receive the strength to overcome the flesh. O Lord, save me from sins of the flesh, amen.

The Crowning with Thorns – As receive insults and rebuke for the sake of our faith, we are assured of a crown of glory in the kingdom to come. O Lord, give me the strength to bear my crown of thorns in all humility like you did, amen.

The Carrying of the Cross – Here we remember the entire Stations of the Cross!! O Lord, give me the grace the carry my cross to the glory of your name, amen.

The Crucifixion and Death of our Lord – O my God, this cross should be mine not thine. I am so very sorry that I have sinned against you, and by the help of your grace, I will not sin again. Pardon me and help me with your holy grace, amen.

The Luminous Mysteries

The Baptism of our Lord - In this heavenly manifestation is instituted the sacrament of baptism. The divine Trinity is manifested: the voice of the Father is heard as the Spirit descends upon the Son. O Lord, we thank for revealing yourself to us, increase our faith and trust in you.

The Wedding at Cana – At Mary’s request, Jesus worked His first miracle. May we always obey our blessed Mother’s instruction to us in relation to Jesus – “Do whatever he tells you”. By His presence, Christian marriage was raised to the dignity of a Sacrament. May we remain faithful in our state of life, amen.

The Proclamation of the Kingdom – “Repent, for the Kingdom of God is at hand”. O Lord, give us a strong desire for holiness, amen.

The Transfiguration - "His face became as dazzling as the sun, his clothes as radiant as light." We too will behold the transfigured Jesus on the Last Day.

The Institution of the Eucharist – Jesus took bread, blessed it: "Take and eat, this is My Body." Taking the wine: "This cup is the new covenant in my Blood, shed for you.” At that Eucharistic meal, Jesus celebrated the first Mass. At every Mass the sacrifice of Calvary is made present. At the Last Supper Jesus instituted the sacrament of Holy Orders to perpetuate this sacrifice. "Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him." The Eucharist is a sacrifice inasmuch as it is offered up, and a sacrament inasmuch as it is received. In the Mass we offer ourselves to God, and God gives himself to us. The Mass will be fruitful in the measure of our surrender to the Father. May we receive our Lord worthily, amen

The Glorious Mysteries

The Resurrection – On the third day Jesus rises from the dead, glorious and immortal. Jesus has conquered sin and death. May our faith come alive as we recall his victory. O Lord, increase my faith, hope and trust in you, amen.

The Ascension – Jesus ascends to take His place at the right hand of the Father. Jesus was taken up body and soul into heaven in the presence of his disciples. O Lord, lift my eyes from the things of this world to the things of heaven. O Lord, give me the grace to do your holy will, that I may be worthy of the place that you have prepared for your people, amen.

The Descent of the Holy Spirit on the apostles – The Holy Spirit descends on each of the Apostles in the form of tongues of fire. Filled with the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, they are enlightened and strengthened to spread the gospel. The Holy Spirit comes upon the Infant Church never to leave it. The feast of Pentecost is the birthday of the Church, for on that day it begins to grow. That first day Peter goes forth to preach and baptizes three thousand. O Lord, inflame my heart with zeal, that I may profess my faith with every breath, every word and every action, amen.

The Assumption - After the apostles have dispersed, the Blessed Mother goes to live with John, the beloved disciple. Mary lives many years on earth after the death of Christ. She is a source of comfort, consolation and strength to the apostles. As she had nourished the infant Jesus, so she nourishes spiritually the infant Church. Mary dies, not of bodily infirmity, but is wholly overcome in a rapture of divine love. Her body as well as her soul is taken up into heaven. Jesus does not permit the sinless body of His Mother to decay in the grave. Corruption of the body is an effect of original sin from which Mary is totally exempted. O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.

The Coronation – Mary is crowned by her divine Son as Queen of heaven and earth. More than we can ever know the Hearts of Jesus and Mary overflow with joy at this reunion. Only in heaven will we know the great majesty of that coronation, and the joy it gave to the angels and saints. Mary shares so fully in the glory of Christ because she shared so fully in His suffering. The angels and saints longed for the coming of her whose heel crushes the head of the serpent. Mary pleads our cause as a most powerful Queen and a most merciful and loving Mother. “A great sign appeared in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars.” O Queen of heaven rejoice! alleluia!!

@ sweetchick
Thanks for the mass link. I already have the live adoration link from http://www.savior.org/ so this completes it. Adoration and mass at your desk!! Its good to know the internet can be used like this. Thanks again.

@ Carlosein
My favourite title for our Lady is also 'Seat of Wisdom'. Its amazing how God uses the simplest aspects of our daily lives to express His profoundness.

After reading your posts, I've decided I really don't owe anyone an explanation how I live out my faith. From now, my posts on this thread will be to encourage fellow catholics to actively practice our faith. 2007 years and still the Church is THE force to be reckoned with, there is no question who is struggling to do the reckoning - no question at all.

I realize that arguing and even responding to arguments can easily evoke anger, frustration, exasperation and a tendency to want to respond to disagreeable posters in their own tone and language. Not a very Godly, christian or marian attitude. I will spread love and good cheer, hope and encouragement to fellow Catholics and non-catholics alike and pray that the we are all one way or the other touched by Love. Because God is Love, and he who abides in Love, abides in God, and God in Him.

@ Pilgrim, u say "There's really no point in trying to deny what we all know - and that is: Catholics make Mary the focal point of their devotions and worship. Period."

We Honour, not Worship Mary. And WHO does Mary lead us to EVERYTIME?? shocked

  JESUS

It is usual with those who are not Catholics to fancy that the honours we pay to our blessed Mother interfere with the supreme worship which we pay to Jesus; that in Catholic teaching she eclipses Him. But this is the very reverse of the truth.

For if Mary's glory is so very great, how cannot His be greater still who is the Lord and God of Mary? He is infinitely above His Mother; and all that grace which filled her is but the overflowings and superfluities of His incomprehensible Sanctity. And history teaches us the same lesson.

Look at the Protestant countries which threw off all devotion to her centuries ago, under the notion that to put her from their thoughts would be exalting the praises of her Son. Has that consequence really followed from their profane conduct towards her?

Just the reverse -- the countries, Germany, Switzerland, England, which so acted, have in great measure ceased to worship Him, and have given up their belief in His Divinity. In fact in Germany, it is customary to see 'God's Obituary' etched on walls and public places.

While the Catholic Church, wherever she is to be found, adores Christ, as true God and true Man, as firmly as ever she did.

@ Pilgrim,
the Breath of the Father is the Holy Spirit, the same Holy Spirit that came upon our blessed Mother, with whom she 'conceived' of our Lord Jesus. She is the Spouse of teh Holy Spirit.

@ cgift,
Note the above, that 'conception' is a result of 'co-operation' between two entities. In conceiving Jesus, it was 'co-operation' between the Holy Spirit and our blessed Mary. Our Mother said 'YES' and she was conceived of the Holy Spirit. What Divine Relationship!
