PeterKbaba: Lagos State Government is beginning to position the state to be self-sufficient from the Fed Gov, so Lagos is a Country within Nigeria. Haven't you noticed that Lagos is the only state with the highest population in Africa and also as the highest number of Tribes, Immigrants & Foreigners from over the world living in peace.

Apart from Oil, Lagos State is the only reason most private legit foreign businesses are in Nigeria. It is in the interest of Nigeria, for Lagos to be autonomous from the Weak Fed Gov.

Yes i agree donald duke had lofty plans for tinapa and it's only a matter of time before it's met.
Tinapa is already a 1st class centre for tourism and leisure.
Given the beauty and serenity of that environment,it has made it the number one destination for entertainment investments like studios.
The place is also a magnet for various kinds of high profile international conferences,and various shopping malls are also opening up to cater for the people that comes there.
All these things bring revenue to the state govt and it will only grow as more people know about tinapa and invest.

99cent: Tinapa was a HUGE multi-million dollar project that was supposed to "jump-start the economy in SE Nigeria". Why did it fail? It should have been built in Lagos instead. what a waste of money.

At the end of the day, building airports, malls and big buildings are not guaranteed to be successful if the right conditions aren't met. ie if enough people aren't willing to patronizing it.

it is not dead.
Tinapa is beginning to generate revenues and with time the ROI will grow.
The last NBA meeting was held in tinapa and they were so impressed with the place that they promise to keep holding their programmes there,which means more money for the state govt.
Various music and movie studios are also opening in tinapa along other things.

For a country of 160million,i didn't expect us to rank favorably in the GDP/CAPITAL index.
It will take very very significant GDP growth for us to be in the top 10.
