I'm sorry, but you're gravely mistaken. If you felt my point was to find fault with yours, that's your personal take on things, and it's no bother. If you calmly read through my replies, you'll find that I was doing precisely what you missed: shedding light on the subject - miss that, miss everything. If you find fault with that, you're very welcome to point out where and why that is so.Shedding light indeed! Not at me; but when Christians discuss, it does not cost anything to refrain from being coy at others. What exactly did you mean by the statement: "Is it not funny that men are so used to deception"? If you can't handle simple issues, you really didn't need to substitute such statements - perhaps you need to go one step further and identify those whom you were referring to in your statement.Anyone who has problem with obeying the scriptures loves darkness more. Are u in that category? And besides what exactly got to you in the statement? Same here. What? Sorry, I don't have a problem with anyone reasoning from Scripture - do you have any problems with what I pointed out from Scripture? Stick to this issue, not complaining away from it.You better don't. Did you say complain? over what, man we are not in contention. You just have to be sincere with yourself. Do you really have a problem with that verse? Abi why has it gotten you so worried that you're now referring to it for about 3 replies now?Problem? Worry? U don't sound like a Xtian here. Once again, God is my justifier. More worries for you I guess! Hey, listen up: go read again and find out where I tried to "force" you or anyone to bring money or anything to give thanks to God - I'd be glad to see it. Until then, be blessed. No need, A sincere approach would be rather appreciated. |
Hey, easy man, are u here for some kind of arguments or to shed light on the issue at hand. You words appear as that of a man looking for fault in others. I asked if you were quoting the previous to justify yourself, not whether someone else than God is the justifier. There's no need to be pointing fingers at others just because you can't see beyond your own ideas. How did I point accusing fingers at u, and how are mine not seeing beyond my own ideas? Well, For your info. I have know personnel idea in this issue, I stick to what the word says and nothing more, perhaps you have problem with that, but that's too bad for 'cos I don't know what u expect. So, do u have problem with the fact that I do not justify myself but I trust in God who justifies those who believe. Hey, I got the point u made and I agree with u where u where right, but there's no way you can force me to say that People must give offering as they come to give thanks to God in Xtian gathering. |
True, as long as you're not quoting that to justify yourself - read Luke 16:15.God is the Justifier of those who truly believe. |
@Pilgrim 2Cor 9:11-12 From my understanding, the above scripture is still talking about being generous to others, and that would mean to those who are in need. That is only connected to to thanksgiving in the sense that people who thank God at your good works. Example of that is in 3Jn 1-8 about Gaius. However that has no link with people bringing money to church for thanksgiving. |
Actually, 1 Corinthians 16 is not only about the poor - in verse 6 of that same chapter, Paul was actually saying to his recipients (the church) that they are to sponsor his trips (compare with 2 Cor. 1:16).Yap! @Kunle Is it not funny that men are so used to deception that they don't like people who stand for the truth. I now see the word of The Lord Jesus in open display: MEN LOVE DARKNESS MORE THAN THE LIGHT O ma se o! |
In the book of Acts, at every point the Apostles came together with good reports of what the Lord has done through them and for them, they always gave thanks to God but not in any case did anyone among them give offering to another one. Jesus himself told a man that he healed that he should go home and tell his household what The Lord has done for him, he didn't tell him to take anything to the temple. Thanksgiving and giving of offering are too different things that ought not to be married together. Give thanks always(to God). Also, it's not wrong to give offering in Xtian gathering but it should follow a particular relevant need and must be done with order. See example in 1Cor 16:1-3. Note that the need in 1Cor 16 that was cited is to help the poor. So, be sure you know what you are giving for before you start giving. |
Pastor: I cover the driver with the blood of Je**sMan, u got me cracking ![]() If the bus together with the engine is covered with blood, that's a clear signal to quickly jump down and look for a clean one. One can be sure of a safe journey with a clean bus than one that is soaked in Blood. ![]() To be Frank, those guys are just taking advantages of the many ignorant folks out there. Too bad! |
The only way to "hear" God is to read the bible.Anything that he has to let you know is contained within the bible. He's not going to tell you anything new.Well said! Plus: I believe that God grants Visions and Revelations, but it is not for us to be looking around for them, or embark on fasting and praying for some visions. God grants visions and revelations to inform, guide, correct and direct us AS HE WILLS. If the vision comes, take it. If it doesn't, don't force yourself into any magical deception. Even when you are granted a vision you still need to be sure that the vision is consisted with the word, otherwise, you've only seen a TELEVISION! It's just good to stick to the word! |
Kings and Kingdoms shall pass away High Towers and Great Mansions shall be knocked down But th Eph4:11-16 How much do we spend on building the True Church of God in term of: Prayer, Unadulterated study and teaching of God's word, exhorting one another, correcting those who do wrong, promoting the bond of love among believers, reaching out to the lost and contending for the faith that was delivered to us. I think it is a disaster and a grievous sin if we allow the church of God to suffer while we are busy building gigantic edifice that would be destroyed one day. I leave the rest to the Judge of all! |
Taxing the church wud be wrong by any measures we choose to weigh with. However taxing paid Pastors is not wrong. Jesus paid tax, or call it tribute to the Govt. in his days, he set an example for us to follow. |
2Tim 2:16 |
@Jesoul Well Preached. May the Good God keep you firm and steadfast in his will, as you abound with good fruits that bring glory to His name. |
Eko ile with many wahala. I'm proud to be a Lagisian but sincerely if I can get a good job in Abuja, I'ld run out of Lagos immediately. Chai, Lagos wahala is too much! |
Asking that question is like asking if one's parents are always right. The short answer is, "no". Asking why we respect elders and their opinions so much even when we know they are humans like us, is like asking why children consult (or discuss with) their parents on many, many matters. It is understood that they generally have experienced more than us, and that there are underlying and fundamental truths in the things that they say. Lamely put, the elders are wiser and have a much more mature (practical and often times, broader) understanding than the rest of us, generally speaking. |
Anyone who understands the Bible knows that it is not scriptural to be comparing one believer with another. If there are good traits in a mans life, we can commend him for such and encourage others to emulate him. But to be comparing one with another, it is absolutely not scriptural. Topics like this would only cause strife, envy division, confusion and every evil work. AND OFF COURSE THIS IS NOT FROM GOD. See 1Cor3:1-10. when people begins to compare one man of God to another, this is the beginning of evil. I hope all those who are caught in this act , in the poster would repent quickly. Peace to all! |
I have said several times on this Forum that every Bishop,Pastor,GO, Revd etc in their BEST forms are still HUMANS! And its only God that is fallible every other being is infallible,,As Humans we re prone to making errors and that would subsequently lead to criticisms,,," And whenever we re being criticised, we should check if what we re being criticised is true or not,,and if its true , we should make amends and if not disregards.Perhaps this people are under a spell, 'cos I don't just understand them. |
Plain and simple, Nigeria needs to assess the people's needs and what works for the people instead of trying to catch up with the west. The west is being the west and now we need to be Nigeria. |
@poster @ Thor: |
Can they also kidnap Yaradua and Goodluck?ME I NO DEY O ![]() Good thing! They kidnap our money, resources and future and we kidnap all of them very soon and get our monies back through that way. Isn't this better? than kidnapping the expats, really dont blame some of the kidnappers sometimes cos we claim to be praticing democracy when we r not. our leaders are incompetent & dont want to be. they loot the treasury & rub us blindI FEAR U! ![]() It is rather unfortunate for our beloved country.I WONDER O! |

Crucial Topic, Good contributions, Pathetic condition. How can one pray to GOD to protect one's home when the LANDLORD is an ARMED ROBBER.uhnn, this is deep! Isn't it obvious why the poster has not been able to pass any of the aptitude tests? His use of English leaves a lot to be desired. Yes, he may "belief in competency rather than certificate", but he needs to prove that he actually studied for the certificate first. This contribution is not fair. Can you post an article of just two pages and let's see how good you are. Having read some of the comments on this thread(especially the beginning part), it's quite ironic how poor the tenses are while questions are being asked about the quality of certificates in Nigerian Institutions. It's obvious you've not been to many foreign thread. People use all sort of languages and jargons to communicate on a lot of thread that I've seen. Anyway, this thread is not about who can write the best of grammar. Just make you contribution as best as you can and geeerrrrooouut! You can see how bad you are in the use of English. You've made many blunders in few lines of words. Too bad! una don dey turn dis post into english palavaI wonder o! @ poster,I know a guy who actually graduated with LOWER CREDIT in one of the "not too good" polytechnics, and yet he was able to secure a job in one of the oil companies with annual salary over 2m. HOW DO WE EXPLAIN THAT? ON OND/HND ISSUEDo you know the number of Universities we have in Nigeria and the maximum number of students all of them can admit per year. my brother water don pass garri, no be small thing! If you are discriminated as a result of it, you are not meant to be there, because I've seen people who just have some qualification other than a University/Polythecnic qualification and they are working in big establishments. When your time comes, your employer will employ you because you have thjat qualification with you and that's xactly what he needs. Don't forget we have employers of labour who are also HND graduates. It is not a crime to dream big especially as students. During my University days, I had that dream and so many graduates do. Who doesn't want to work with those be companies you mentioned. You can dream but waking up to reality is very essential and that is where a lot of undergraduates get trapped. Most graduates are still leaving in the dream world and unfortunately before most of them wake up to reality, a lot of years has been wasted.TRUE TALK! Simple solution ' BE CREATIVE'. Dont just sit there writing application. There are over 1M people looking for less than 2,000 jobs available daily. There is a very slim chance of picking a job. Just try come up with some ideas. There are over 150 million people in Nigeria. These people have needs. Find out what people need, provide a solution to that, u r made, simple. Nigeria is a large market. I made over a million doing the American visa lottery just because i went into digital passport photography when things got so bad. Even the digital passport thing surprised everyone around me. some said they never knew people need passport photos like that. Now am stepping up into something else, just because i refused to insist on looking for job. Just try something, when it works, please dont fail to hala me o. You might just end up becoming an employer rather than an unemployed. starting something wipes out the HND/BSC issue. It answers all your questions. God bless u as u try.MY STAND! |
Yes, There is a doctrine we all must stick to as there's no room for personal doctrine or personal revelation. We know a true pastor by what he teaches and practices. Paul came out straight on this in Gal 2: If any man or even an angel comes with another gospel, let him be accused! So, any addition or subtraction to the Gospel we have received (that which is contained in the word of God) must be rejected, so also must the preacher of such be avoided. Maybe I should point out two of such errors : Prophetic seed and feet washing. These are not part of the doctrine of the word, and non of the Apostles practice such. So any true believer must reject such and avoid the preacher of such. Well, I'd be waiting to see what others have to say. |
This would be a good one. May God help our dear State. Long live Lagos State! |
Good for JJ, Good for Nigeria! |

shout at the top of your voice when you need to be heard even when no one seems to be listening, and remember to keep quiet when you are done. |
In context of this discuss, A great man/woman is someone who has contributed immensely to the up-building of the nation and who's contribution is positively felt by the citizens of the nation. so who can we actually call great? In South Africa, Mandella is recognized by all (even all over the world) as a living legend. The presence of five of such people should turn this country around for good. But here we are in our poor state. In my opinion, I don't think we have up to five of such people in Nigeria. Maybe we have just one or non. |
Chinua Achebe Writer: No! He is very smart but what difference has he made?very close to my opinions |
I think nigerian gloomy economy has put a high percentage our women into alot of calamities in the name of education. we're in trouble. Cry Get rich quick mentality, greed, materialism, low moral standards, lack of ambition and drive. . . what bullshit, perhaps boys from poor backgrounds should go into armed robbery to fund their education as well.Good points |
This is my say to the leaders of Nigeria. They need to improve the economy in almost every state in order to improve the standard of living for all. You can't spend all those money on ten lanes when abuja states' population is barely 1 million. Texas state has a population of 25 million, the highest number of lanes they have is about 6. They need to build Lagos, its the Newyork of Nigeria. We need to have about 10 solid states out of our 37 here there will be improvements. Build our own cars, make our products and sell, increase the tariff on all foreign goods so high so majority of people will buy our goods, create jobs by building more airports, roads, ports, 2 million strong military, welcome businesses by making it less expensive with incentives and friendly to do business, invest in energy, nepa 24/7 365 days, increase minimum wage to N80k, let our workforce be trained to meet the life of the 21st century: 80% nigerians and 20% other than nigeria, quality teachers, more government jobs for alot of things in every states to build Nigeria. With this we will attract tourist raising more money. Most importantly Nigerians need to be hard working, less pompous and improve their image around the world in all areas other than fraudsters some other countries think they are. With all this we will be competitive and look more like the giant of Africa with GDP over 1 trillion to those that drive on enugu-benin-ore-lagos route |
