The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Matters, Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, on Tuesday said between January and now, over $35bn had been remitted to the country by Nigerians living abroad.

Dabiri-Erewa disclosed this when she visited the Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, Mr. Babatunde Fowler, and the management team of the FIRS in Abuja.

She said the amount so far remitted to the country by Nigerians living abroad this year exceeded the $21bn sent home by them last year.

1. Creating awareness that for us to get power more regularly we must play our role, pay bills, stop illegal connections; all radio and tv stations could create jingles and discussion programs to this effect
2. All states and Federal Govt to launch programmes such as light up Nigeria to enlighten the people, generate revenue to support energy production and transmission.
3. All banks, companies to pay energy contributions money based on their incomes. Celebrities to organize shows, dinners to raise funds. Rich individuals to contribute to help purchase transformers and other equipment in their streets and suburbs.everyone to donate as well.
4. Govt of every state to set money aside to support power just as they assist police regularly.
5. FG to probe and help reduce corruption in power sector
6. All houses to be fitted with prepaid meters to ensure all persons pay for service. This can be achieved in 5 years.

What is the max that can be charged users monthly in Sokoto?
If we peg it at #10,000
That will be 7,400 X 10,000 = #74,000,000

Since the plant uses 33,000 daily, monthly consumption will be about 1,000,000 ltrs monthly.
If the fuel is sourced at #150 per ltr ( which I doubt they can get that low)
Monthly will be = #150,000,000 monthly.

So if you run the plant with #150,000,000 monthly (excluding maintenance and salaries) and rake in #75,000,000.
Is that sustainable?

The project can only be sustainable is areas like Lagos, port Harcourt, Abuja and other highbrow areas that won't mind paying say #30,000 - #50,000 monthly for uninterrupted power supply.
Then and only then can the project be a sustainable one.
