Whether we like it or not the actions we take in the past chart the course for our future and we can't wish that away. So it will be sentimental if we start saying we should not mention GEJ again. As long as the country does not generate enough dollar to meet demand the Naira will continue to depreciate. This has nothing to do with Buhari. It would have been less severe if GEJ and NOI, despite warnings in 2013 of oil price slide due to oil shale activity in USA, saved for the raining days. They also damaged the oil and gas industry ( the goose that lays the golden eggs) by piling up debt in JV cash calls causing divestment in the industry. Only way out is for the country to generate forex through diversification and that involves everyone. I was happy reading that Anambra was now exporting vegetables. We used to import vegetables from neighboring countries for the cargo planes that come into the country not to leave empty.

As far as I am concerned, it makes business sense to sell nonperforming assets like the refineries. No need to get sentimental about that. What is important is that the proceeds from such transactions be used to divers the economy and create wealth. Businesses sell any of their units to achieve objectives for greater good of the company. A number of people here just get sentimental negatively about APC and Buhari's government. Can anyone please tell me that he will continue to pump money on business units that continue to generate losses (like the refineries) just because they want the business units in their legacy?

This scam, just like the posts by some "customs officers" claiming to sell seized vehicles, has been on for a very long time. Two years ago I saw an advert for a clean 20-ton MAN truck for N2m. The supposed owner says it was located in Gombe. I told him I could not come to Gombe (Book Haram issue) so we settled for him to bring it to Abuja for my brother to sight it. He asked for N15000 for diesel. I said I could only pay on arrival (even if I found the vehicle not as advertised). So I let it go only for him to start calling desperately for me to send the money. Then I realised it was a scam

The answer is the harsh economic situation the country is facing. Under her watch Nigeria treasury was stolen blind taking us to negative despite huge revenues from oil and savings left behind by OBJ. She plunged us into debt again eroding tge gains of the debt cancellation she arranged at a huge consultancy fees with her world bank allies. I listened to Adeosun on Channels yesterday and i have implicit confidence that she can deliver. She may not have PHd or have connections to perform voodoo economics like NOI because that is not what the country needs now.
