The spirit of a man is his soul, so it depends on what how he lived his life while on Earth. If for God and according to His Word, then he would preserve his spirit for eternal life. But if for the world and worked iniquity, he would lose his soul in eternal damnation.

John 19:30

Now when a person dies the soul immediately goes back into the spirit of the person and both return to God

But the soul dies inside the spirit when a human being dies and this then makes the spirit of the person to be at a sleeping mode when it returns to God

The spirit is sleeping when it returns to God

Now what goes to hell fire is what Bible calls spiritual body , God is going to give every one another body called spiritual body to replace the dead body that goes to the earth


This spiritual body can live in hell or heaven or earth.... When God gives you a new spiritual body then he sends back your sleeping spirit back to that spiritual body and you become Like you are before the only difference is that this new spiritual body can not die any more but can only die in the lake of fire


When judgment is made concerning what you did on earth and who you worshiped on earth when you were alive with the physical body

Can you back this up with old testament quotes...
