Hello mamas biko i need help. I will be 6 weeks postpartum on tuesday.i had episiotomy. Have been doing sitz baths regularly . But for about 2 weeks i noticed i have a peppery feeling on my epistiomy site if i sit or walk a certain way. I then took up courage to look at it in the mirror. I found out that there is a red flesh hanging somewhere on the episiotomy site. It really painful to touch. I have closed up/healed well its juat that red thing. Biko sabi mamas who knows what this red thing is. I intend going for check up if it doesnt go soon

It's a skin tag and it will go. Continue with sitz bath, if after 2 weeks it hasn't fallen or closed up, you can go see your doctor.

Pls mamas, is augumentin safe to take during pregnancy. I complained of cough during my antenatal yesterday and my gynae prescribed augumentin, NGC cough syrup and Vit C. I started the dose this morning but since I took it I havent been myself at all. Been feeling so somehow since morning. Very tired, drowsy and lazy.

The drugs are in order. The way you feel is as a result of the cough and the cough syrup (has an ingredient that causes drowsiness).
Mine just went 2days ago after 3wks, 3weeks of intense cough and greenish catarrh(sorry tmi). The first antibiotc i was given did nothing, it was augmentin that finally took care of it.
Pls complete the drugs and you will be fine. It's safe.

For mom:
1. Toiletries (bathing soap, cream, toothbrush and paste)
2. Sanitary pants/ pads (4 packs)
3. Toilet rolls (4 rolls)
4. Clean wrappers
5. Night wears, maternity bras, etc
6. Rubber slippers
7. Small black cellophane bag and old newspapers (disposables aren't disposed here without pre-packaging, which makes the waste bin less yucky)

For baby:
1. Toiletries (baby costmetics of your choice)
2. Baby wears (body suits, sleep suits)
3. Olive oil, menthylated spirit, cotton wool, cotton buds, antiseptic lotions
4. Baby shawls, baby sweater, socks, caps
5. Baby cup and spoon
6. Baby diapers
7. Flask for hot water

For those who are expecting to stay in the hospital for longer than a day, like me, start making plans. Pack extra everything or at least arrange for stuff to be brought to you from home during every visit. If you're a book person, take a novel with you. Personally i plan to have plenty movies to pass the time cos it gets pretty boring from day 3.

One more thing, ensure you ask questions during your antenatal classes concerning your birth center's policies so you can avoid unpleasant situations. If they are the kind that love to hold on to your leftover cotton wool or disinfectant or stuff like that, buy small packs of those things so you can leave them there without a fuss. If they are the kind that won't supply you hot water, arrange ahead for yours. Just prepare for the hours or days after birth, so there are no surprises.

I can't wait to start seeing our baby pictures. There shall be no loss in Jesus' name. Amen.

For me i feel the days are moving too fast. I'm now on weekly ANC appointment. Braxton Hicks now no be small thing. May God make it easy for all of us.

Went for ANC yesterday and the doctor told me of contraceptive options available at birth instead of waiting for 6weeks. Its done within 2 hours after birth. Has anyone here done this or who has heard of it. I kind of bought into the idea and i think it makes sense for those that want to hang boot.

Please I need an answer, I started antenatal today, registered since 9wks. I did scan today and was measuring 3weeks ahead (18W instead of 15W4D) and my EDD shifted to 2nd week of June instead of July and is singleton. My first scan gave me the exact week I calculated. I know pregnancy is +/-2wks but this 3wks got me confused even the sonographer started from the beginning and was still getting the same thing.

Please what could be the cause.

Nnem just go with your LMP EDD. Dating scans are most accurate at 1st trimester. To put your mind at rest you can go for a repeat or kukuma wait for anomaly scan by 20weeks.

I bought for 4k in december, check big baby shops around you or you can check jumia. Jumia has other brands of clogs that arent crocs but i dont know if they are durable.

Yea, multiple childhood seizures usually affect their developmental milestones. You will need to be patient with him. Please see a paediatrician, better still a neurologist. All the best

LOOking at the economy,God surprised me recently with a serious job but in another state on new yr day.Dh and i tot it wasnt real until today i got their message...

The reality just dawned on us;
A case of living in another state(neighbouring) away from my husband.I'll be with the kids though.
Im being unsettled right now even though i've wanted it all along,atleast my certificste will be put to use and i no fit do business atall

How do i settle this?Has anyone experienced this and how did you navigate it?

I have been living this life for 7+years. It's doable.
Check if the added income is worth the expenses of running 2 homes.
Discuss how often he will be coming, you guys shouldnt stay apart for too long.
Check if you will need a domestic help in his absense.
Will you have some support system where you will be moving to. This is important in his absense.
Invest in calls and data to keep the communication lines open.
Pray about and with proper planning, it's doable.

Haba, my midwife told me then that the second one won't pain like the first-time. Abi did she lied to me? Now I know why some (midwives) always opt for cs, after they'll be telling somebody "you can't handle this small pain, na me help you do the thing"

Dear mothers, that night was the longest and toughest night of my entire life. At a point i had to start walking all over the house, naked.
I became temporarily mad. If i sat down...it felt terribly painful. Lying down was worse. D only thing that helped was walking around. All i cud do was scream Jesus everytime d contractions came.
I kept looking at the time. 12am, 1pm, chai as soon as its 4am i was going back to the hospital.
Hmmm., 4am took forever to come. Even then...i decided to wait till 5. Took my bath and started pacing the floor again. Woke hubs and by 6 we were at the hospital.

Thinking the pains thru the night was bad enough....i knew delivery shdnt take more than an hour. But...for wia!
Hmmm.....i got checked again o. 3cm. Oh God! Why now.
Then i was taken to the ward and all. That was wen i knew life had two sides to it. I screamed, wailed and shouted. From time to time the midewives wld come and say...madam better save ur energy bks u never reach anywhere o. Chai! The pains became worse. 11am another doc came to checm 6cm.
By this time ehn, i was going crazy. I held the doctors jean very tight, he had to run for his life. D pole that carried my drrip....oh how hard i tried to break it into two. Yet it didnt break. I desperately wanted to hurt someone or spoil sth like it wld take d pains away.

Labour pain is no respecter of persons o!
So i continued screaming and all. And then i started to feel like i wanted to poo. I begged the nurses....they said it wasnt poo. Oh u shd av seen how i practically begged everyone around to pls help me. Help me beg the midwives to help me.
Some of them even laughed and they kept asking is this ur first time.

An hour later, i was taken to the labour room. By then i knew i was going to die. I kept doing the breathing exercise...which really helped. But at some point...even d strength to breathe was no longer there. So i started to cry. D midwives were still busy arranging thier things when i screamed that i wanted to poo and i cudnt hold it anymore. One of them smiled and said. Dont push, it ur baby
Admist all that pain, she said wow ur baby is so hairy. How annyoing that statement sounded at that moment.

Infact i didnt want any baby again. On that delivery table...i hated myself for allowing my husband get me pregnant. I hated him more than anything then. I kept abusing him and the midwives wld beg me to stop. Later wen he came to d labour room where he stayed tru out, i dragged his shirt. Of course i was going to tear it apart.

At some point i said....pls let me tear ur shirt, u ll wear another one. Chai! They all bursted into laughter.
Shortly after, d urge to push became too strong i cudnt control it. So thr midwives showed me how to fold my legs hold them with my hands and then pushed.
I tried the first time without the contraction......d pains increased. It felt like a big log of wood had been placed btw my anus or jajaina..i dont even know.

Next contraction i pushed with all my strength and out came my prince charming, crying his lungs out. He was placed on me for a while before taken away. I looked around to find my husband kneeling on the floor thanking God, almsot in tears. Foolish man, i told myself Truth be told, even after the placenta came out, if anyone had asked if cud go thru that experience again...i wld land a hot slap on his face before responding.

My dear, anybody wey no respect God, enter labour room come out must change and no say God dey!
Labours is such a beautiful and wonderful experience. And ryt now, if u ask me, I wld certainly do this again when it is time..

27% is quite low, you can follow all the advise given above to boost it,then you can include iron supplement. A mama even said 37% is the standard and see me here thinking its 30%. May God see us through. We are almost there.

Mamas please you people should help me, i'm not quite sure if there is a problem that needs tackling or something.
My son just had his first hair cut. I'm soooo emotional and even tearing up. Same way i felt at 6 months when i had to introduce other meals after EBF. In fact i ended up not being able to give him that day. It was the next day he finally ate and everyone had to put mouth. Same thing happened at his 1yr birthday, i was just shedding tears but i kept wondering why. Now this? How can i be crying upandan because my son had a haircut and so he is growing too fast. What does this even mean? Everybody is just looking at me as if i'm crazy and I'm beginning to be worried. To be honest, i prepare for these things, but when its time, i start acting funny.
Please is this a problem? Maybe a psychological one?? If so, pls how can i get help? Or is this normal?

There's no problem with you dear. I think you are naturally emotional. Is he your first? But you know he will grow up and won't be that your little baby again. That's life. I think it's kind of normal. Try and reduce your daytime sleep, let's see if the night will cooperate with you. It's even this december that passed that my night sleep returned.
