Q5000 is an Api sl 20w50. If your car is below 2004, it might be ok based on your service history and methods but if Honda says use 5 w30 and you decide otherwise, whatever you see, then you get. The weight of the oil is heavier than the recommended weight. If you are using your service methods, you will find out that you are changing your oil four times a year and when you use the recommended oil, you will service your car only twice a year with spillover into the new year and you get better engine performance, no engine high temperature and better fuel economy.

So the 5w30 you posted was on the website and not at the Total Station in Osun. When you go to their website for Nigeria, they claim that they sell the oil locslly and you go to their outlets and they will be looking at you like dundee utd. The Q9000 5w40 was not full synthetic, it was a synthetic blend. Let us hope they are bringing the new generation oils this time around

But did you really buy that Total 5W30 in Osun or it was 5w40? The mobil 1 esp is a very good oil and they (mobil) quickly brought it in to save their image after the disaster called 0w40

This oil is the oil that Pan recommended for peugeot cars and not Total oil.

How often is the service duration, and is there sludge in your engine? Sludge is the major reason why good oil is recommended because sludge destroys the engine, poor fuel economy

We do in most cases but getting the crankshaft is a serious issue. One of my clients went to the UK and we mandated him to look for crankshafts in a demolition site but could not get one. The low octane fuel and the wrong engine oils are the major issues affecting a range rover engine and we counsel everyone to boost the fuel and use the recommended engine oil for your peace of mind. A new crankshaft cost 1600usd while the used engine cost 3400usd. So rebuilding the engine is possible only if the crankshaft is in order.

Range Rover sallmama engines cost 700-800k while the Bnw x5 engunes are in the range of 400-550k. But in the USA, a good RR engine cost 3500usd higher than a sport engine of 3400 usd

Like you stated, these cars share the same engines but the sump is different. When you put a Bmw Engine on a Rr vogue, the modifications that will be made is too much wahala and mind you, the Bmw engines are not in top shape. A 2005 RR engine in the us is a little bit expensive than the sport Engine . So the one here sold for 700k is not in good shape. The bottom line is following the manufacturer’s specifications. Then you will enjoy the car.

That is the sad story we encounter in the line of work. Bmw and Range Vogue Engine is not more than 300 k difference but to save cost, they buy the Bmw Engine that has been ravaged by poor fuel and unsuitable Engine oils. Maintenance is the key and when it is ignored, the cost to restore is exhorbitant.

No one is disputing that. A-Z oil, I remember their office at Old Ojo road years back and I was doing a study on all transmission fluids in the country. AZ then had Dexron 11d and I dont know if they have upgraded to Dexron 6. All their oils are obsolete. I also remember their Abuja office and one of my boys was operating a workshop there. That oil was among the issues that drove Mercedes Vboot into extinction. The fact that it has SON sticker does not mean anything. Apart from their SAE40 and 20w50, what else do they sell and please try also to state the API classification for all their oils.

The Total Q9000 5w30 futures that the OP bought in Osun is not available in the country. The highest lubricant from the Total stable, the Q9000 5w40 is not recommended for Peugeot cars from 2012 because it is not suitable for it. PAN recommends only Mobil 1 esp 5w30 as the oil recommended for Peugeot new generation cars. In France, you will be surprised to know that Classic oil has a synthetic 5w30 C oils suitable for Peugeot cars and here we are saddled with SAE 40 which according to API is obsolete. You will be surprisedalso to know that Q5000 which is 20w50 API SL here, has a 5w30 SN full synthetic being sold in France. These unwholesome practices have destroyed a lot of engines because the oils from a reputable international brand is being sold to Nigerians in a deceptive manner.
I believe that since Total have realised that this deception has been exposed, they want to right the wrong by bringing the same lubricants being sold in other countries to Nigeria. You will be shocked to know that Total has Dexron V1 transmission fluid and even CVT in other markets but here they sell fluide 11d which is meant for vehicles made before 1980.
Beware of what you put in your vehicle.

That also is a sure way to say goodbye to your Range. i was in Ladipo one day when a guy wanted to sell his Rr vogue for 500k. Air springs, engine sounding strange but stilk moving. He was offered 250k and he refused. That is now the lot of many owners who allowed these mecs to ruin the supercars.

You can also use Mobil Atf. It is a dex 2 e. Oando dexron 11 is not suitable for electronically controlled gearbox. If you using mineral oil, stick to total q7000 sl but dont let it exceed 3k miles. If you are thinking of synthetic oil, run from the two brands and use Toyota engine oil. Autotrader2 is on Nairaland.

As for the 0w40, it is not fake but we have been unable to fathom which vehicle is 0w40 recommended for and if that weight is ideal for our environment. I know that hondas and Toyotas recommends 0w20 and I don't think that we can use the 0w40 in its place. If Total now brings in their C oils and their future oils, then our vehicles will breathe well. If you notice the label on the gallon, it states full synthetic while q9000 5w40 was synthetic blend that even peugeot ruled it out for use on their new cars since 2012. Op can you show the actual gallon you bought in Osun?

That is true but the 5w30 ESP has its limits and it is the only oil in the local market for new generation of Peugeot cars. Total has failed the Nigerian motorists with their outdated oils and the deception is very obvious on their Nigerian website where you see lubricants that are not available being bandied as sold locally. But I am curious because of the interaction I had with the MD and wanted to be sure if he has began the implementation of what I wrote him but finding it in Osun and not Lagos makes the story not reliable. From the look of both cars, the hse is bigger and better equipped than the se. A case in point is the vogue se sold by Coscharis and the vogue hse imported from America. They are not in the same category. The hse has a lot of options that the se does not have. Go for the hse. If you do price comparison, most times, it is cheaper to buy locally

Total fluide iid is not meant for cars above 1980 so using it was a big mistake. The era of allowing mechanics to determine what is good for your car is over. All our local oil dealrts are not ready for our type of vehicles. Even oando with the dex iii are no longer in the market. As discussed, we will handle the matter

The only oil i can recommend is mobil 1 usa 5 w 20. There are many sellers on Nairaland. No Nigerian oil is suitable for these cars. None

Of course it is made in the UK. This spec is diesel powered and it does not have the finese of the petrol powered US spec. They did not even give it the Velar front grill.
