Let them return the old stuff that they changed and scan the car again and let them give you the codes so that we know what the car is telling you |
Educational background pls |
prophecy:Does it have the red plate number? Then it is not private. You have to take your car there, no proxy anymore |
CarReg:Yes sir |
Model of land rover and what was the error code that made them change those components? |
olatunde07:Go ahead and bid for it. Your guess is that it is a rear absorber or s it listed as bad? Most times it is the corner valve or hoses that are the problem. Except for rust, I have never changed the rear suspension on any range rover |
It was the 2012 Evoque that has this fault. Even Land Rover had to buy back that model from the owners. If there is P1315, p0300 and p0303 on any Evoque, an upgrade is required. All models are very good but maintenance is key. |
It was Range Rover Sports club in 2012, but right now it is still Range Rover with other addition like the Evoque, Lr2,3,4, and the Range Rover ultimate for the bigger boys. How are you coping with the Evoque? Nice car but not water friendly. |
Pk |
Welcome to the club. You have nothing to fear. Once you buy the car, i will move to Ph just to honour you. I have an Lr4 but without engine for 3m maybe that will be a good buy and order the engine and you will now have a new 2011 lr4. |
I will not comment on any post you make until you post a photo of your London rightie tyres rated N on a ford fushion or golf 5 which are not exotic cars and being driven in summer. Then I will admit that you know what you are talking about but until then make I wish you barka d pounds |
Why did Michelin close down? Were all their tyres meant for our roads? It seems you find it difficult to understand. All the tyres (90%) currently being displayed by michelin are temp B tyres. If you have temp a at the rear and temp B in front does that make sense? When you say T tyre with traction b temp b on a landcruiser is ideal, then we were glad that your former company died. I have been to their Ijora office and seen their tyre shop there too and all i found there were majorly temp b tyres. All season tyres are good as long as they are temperature a and traction a. There are some that are traction aa. Did your former company produce locally any tyre with traction a talkless of aa? Go round the markets and which I have done and you will even find temp c tyres too. If a toyota corolla from Elizade has V tyres and even renault cars comes fitted with V tyres, is it a landcruiser or a range rover that should be fitted with T or H? For those kind of tyres, they are most likely all temp b. On a camry or nissan, you can get H tyres that are temp a, even T tyres for smaller vehicles that are temp a but not on suvs. You take your car there before you start complaining. Take your mercedes there and the emission should not be your fear, worry about the danger that vehicle is posing to other road users. Govt did nothing, una complain, dem do something, una still complain. Na only una waka come. |
You don't need to be sorry because you don't have an idea about how tyres work and I know we have had an intense discussion about it before. I asked a question, do you use winter tyres in summer? If no, then what do you use? Ascribing H as speed rating for exotic cars is another blunder on your part. All Toyota Corolla sold by Elizade all comes with V tyres. If U.K. speed limit is 70 Mls then that is almost 120km and you can tell us confidently that they use N rated tyres in summer. Bros, until you return to Naija, don't throw stones from U.K On a system that is completely different from ours. Show me a Ford Focus or golf 5 with a summer tyre that is rated N and post the photo. Abi Ford Focus na exotic car? If the governor happens to read this thread now, he will tend to believe that a foreign expert is talking sense meanwhile it is eastenders hangover that is still in effect. |
[quote author=9icetoo post=60037530]The only gripe I have with your write up is the T speed rating and the V speed rating ish. The Nigerian road is not the Silverstone circuit nor Monza. The T speed rated tire will stop that car in the minimum distance required to stop the car and is within the 100km/hr limit on Nigerian roads. Unless you are racing you don't need high speed rated tires to drive on our bleeped up roads where it is a death wish to sustain 100km/hr for more than 3 minutes. Peace. By the way, those goons should know that emission limits are subject to applicable laws when the vehicle was made. In the mighty USA whom we are copying, 1999 model cars are not subjected to the same emission test limits as 2015 model cars. I know you are aware of this. You don't expect a 1985 model Benz to pass an emission test rigged up for ulev model vehicle, do you? You might be correct but there are many motorists who can testify that at certain speeds, the tyres begin to vibrate and in their mind, they think the tyres needs balancing and alignment . But the car is warning you to slow down and in Mercedes cars, the engine will cut off. Why does BMW and Benz requires Zr tyres for their brands when the speed limit is 120kms in some countries in Europe? I have a client that fitted H speed rating on his Range Rover autobiography and I warned him initially that the tyres are not suitable for his car but he said he will manage it like that . Now the car vibrates on 80km and he wants wheel balancing . In the long run, stability control will be affected and the bushings and ball joints and finally the balloons will give way. Ambode is working, let's support him. It is suprising to note that if you follow the govt rules to obtain plate number, insurance and roadworthy certain, you won't spend up to 25k instead of the 45k touts charge and give you fake documents like a black Range Rover that has a 3rd party policy where the colour is stated as bronze |
erico2k2:Ratings don't count in the U.K. But they are not ignorant of the tyres the fit in their cars. A T speed rating in front and V in the back is absurd. I remember that there is pre inspection centers where these are checked. Do you fit winter tyres on your vehicle and go for Mot test in August and expect to be passed? Most T rated tyres are temperature B rated and you can't have different tyre ratings and dimensions on a vehicle and not be concerned about your safety and the interest of other road users. Those that spend 3 hrs in traffic are not having the best health wise and majority of the cause are these vehicles that are not fit for the road. I have seen a 2001 Camry that passed the test. There are emission limits for all and the Federal rules are Euro 3 and as the fuel quality increases, we will get to Euro 5 and 6. For the bcmr, the engine number is needed to secure a vehicle from being vandalized . Currently Toyota cars are being vandalized and nothing has been done but when your car is stolen and sold as parts, the engine cannot be sold to another person to fit in his car. The police report obtained for change of engine does not go to the central motor registry hence the new initiative. When filling the form online at policebcmr. gov.ng, you will be asked to present your vin and engine number. This measure is to safeguard your vehicle against theft as the data of your car will be available to the authorities concerned. |
What you guys are not aware is that the police are involved. The biometric central motor registry will also be done at the centre along with the tinted permit which is free. The guy that got his roadworthy cert in mile 12 has a fake certificate because you are supposed to take your vehicle to the center. It is no longer obtained by proxy. I have been priviledged to inspect cars there and there was one that we did belonging to a top gun in the insurance industry. His front tyres were T speed Rating while the rear was V. His braking system was poor and the handbrake was not effective, below the approved limit. The car was a 2015 model and the car failed the test. The emission test has its minimum limit and if you fail, you have 30 days to return after putting it right at no cost. The police at the center will verify your chassis and engine number and in a way, your car will be secured and the IT section at force hqts will now have the data of your vehicle and it is going to be protected nationwide, that is they cannot steal the var in Lagos and reregister it in Kaduna. The bcmr will also give you a temporary registration with the National identity card scheme. I used to register a car with roadworthy cert while the car is still in the port. That is cortuption and those crying against the scheme are comfortable with the corrupt system. We have to move forward and very soon, the police will be equipped with rfid scanners and if you are in Lagos and you dont have a bcmr card, with fake insurance, you will be booked.

Danfos are being phased out. This is the picture of the new danfo. Free wifi and airconditioned too.

lexy2014:They were the problem until this administration came in. Hence this new setup |
I know but we don't have good diesel to power these cars except you look for good additives and be selective of where to buy diesel |
You are right but the law since 1997 states that before a car is registered, it must be certified roadworthy. The era of certifying a car that you have never seen is over. That was corruption at the highest and so when the Vio were on the road, they were shocked to discover rickety vehicles with roadworthy certicates. I once witnessed an accident involving 3 cars, the last car to join the group was a G63 that rammed into the tiny light Camry. The 3 vehicles had no insurance, the Gwagon had no brakes. The owner of the tiny light had a fake insurance policy. This is what the new policy is meant to correct. Genuine insurance, good braking system and renewed confidence on the road. Tinted permit will be issued at the center and the police bcmr will be done at the center thereby creating an enhanced national security infrastructure which hitherto never existed. |
Where is the diesel to power the car? |
eaglechild:Yes, same size with the old tyres. The craters on the highways dont know branded tyres, they just do their job. At 3 junction, on the same road, I had a run flat tyre on my vehicle and those craters tore the sidewall of that tyre and there was nothing I could do than to put a spare immediately. A customer once went to the UK to buy tyres years back for his Ml 500 because all we could find was speed rating H. The tyre shop sold him an indonesia tyre with Y speed rating. Here we condemn any tyre outside the ones we grew up knowing. Chinese tyres majorly comes in Temp A. Go to infinity, Dunlop, Michelin tyre shops and all you see is temp B tyres for a country that requires summer tyres. In 1990, samsung products were sold a quarter of the price of Sony and Philips products but today, no basis of comparison with Samsung and its prices. |
Buy Chinese tyre. They are durable but like someone stated, check the date it was made and then ensure it is temperature A and the speed rating should be V or W or Y. There was this customer who wanted to buy good tyres for his Acura TL . I brought some Chinese tyres for him at 22k each. He frowned and said he needed good and well known brands. So I called for Bridgestone at 55k each and he was glad. He just bought the car and even brought Pennzoil from the Us for oil change. On his way to PH, at Ijebu ode, those potholes with sharp edge tore the sidewall of one tyre and he was not happy. He managed to get to Ph and was asking if I could send him the Chinese brand he rejected. I begged him to please buy it in Ph. Just buy the Chinese tyre. The Dunlop and Michelin tyres available are all are all temp b tyres. Go to any Dunlop tyre changing shops and you will find temp b tyres on their racks. I once had the e240 but the 1999 model, a 12 plugs v6, don't buy any dead tyre for that machine. 180kms is very easy to attain with good speed index tyres. |
That B temp was the reason for the blowout. Nothing else to say |
EgunMogaji:He does not even need to get to that speed. A traction b temperature b tyre will go that way when the weather is hot ,inflated or under inflated. C tires that you quoted , are they for commercial buses or temp C tyres ? because that is a suicide prone tyre if it is temperature C tyre. Many Nigerians are now fitting C tyres on their vehicles and an R speed rating on a v6 Honda caused a fatal accident to a client of mine recently |
This is a temperature B tyre. It cannot withstand heat. It explodes also when you drive above the specified speed limit. From the look of the tyre, it is probably an S rated speed index |
I am glad that you noticed that Bora has disappeared from our roads. The fuel is the reason. That info was given to me by the vw group. Bora all died because by 2002, we were still using leaded fuel and so they all died. The gear is always the first to go because it cannot cope with the sluggish nature of the engine. In 2006, the gear cost 650k at Owode for a car just a year old. The same fate befell Vboot Mercedes that it is now a relic. With good mercedes mechs around, people were still changing engines and golf 3 and 4 are going the same route now. Until we have premium fuel, the brand is not worth it |
locutas:I dont have much to say than to tell you to read again. The car was my car not a client' s car and the people that sold it to me was Lanre shittu and the people that took it for repairs was vw center and I was not the rewire that detected the fault. Therein lies your stupidity. If you have vagcom, did vw center tell you they dont have also? If yours drives well, count yourself lucky but I guess you did not buy the 2.0 passat in 2005 when it wad in vogue, so talk about your experience and let others learn from how you overcame yours but ask around from the owners of the brand, how they are faring with their Vws and take a trip to Gbagada and see for yourself and you will conclude by yourself that you made your stupidity very obvious. |
The corruption in the system will not allow it. But Dangote has promised that his refinery will produce high grades of petroleum and so we wait patiently. That is why Corolla is selling for 17m because they know that Nigerians are patiently waiting for the fuel for us to buy our desired vehicles. The rolls royce is not an everyday car, hence it will compensate for the low octane fuel by reducing the power and increasing fuel consumption. I believe those who owns one dont bother about fuel consumption. That vehicle is a liability to the owners. I remember that I was once asked to bring a Rolls Royce from Ife to Lagos by towing because the car was due for service which must be done in Lagos. Ordinary service, the car must be towed down to Lagos and you now ask, how much is the service going to cost? |
dumo1:Amen o, but the experience is an eye opener. I have been observing lately that the brand is no more on the road. I have a vw Touareg 2012 model in the workshop. No critical parts available for the car. Fuel has ruined the car and it was taken away from vw center when they were telling the owner that many things related to the fuel line should be changed. The Md of Stallion Motors back then made me realise that er dont have fuel for these German cars. The only exception is the Porsche sold in Nigeria. That brand uses regular unleaded. Even Skoda, Audi are all in the same wahala with Vw. 9icetoo:It is not the scanner that is the issue, it is the car. 2006 vw touareg was sold for 600k the othet day. I was once offered a 2008 passat for 400k and i told the seller to keep his car. There was a review about the car in 2006 and it states that the entry level is cheap but the means to stay on the road is exhorbitant. It is like oil workers, two weeks on the road, two weeks off the road but in Nigeria, it is three days on the road and three months off the road. |
