I dey here and Una dey make me laugh. I wish the importer can give more details about the two fully synthetic oils. As for the high tech 5w30 api sm, it's suitability for BMW long life 01 is enough to be wary of using the oil. Api SM is still current but why buy an SM that is not synthetic oil when there's SN but the SN has no information about itself and also the country of origin. Op, please give us more information about the fully synthetic oil . Even the spark plugs for sienna is even not platinum or iridium, just the standard plugs. You nor like us at all |
At first start, it makes that sound and then it stabilises. You have been using mineral oil. Check out Gazzzuz and let him sell Mobil 1USA for you. Oil change is what you need. Flush the engine first before putting the oil |
What happened to the old one |
Check out oyingbo parts market. Upgrade to 5w30 and your car will be happy |
skales67:I was never forced to buy Abro. it was when it destroyed my Volvo gear that I decided to look for the importer and when I got to Kirikiri office, they took me to their warehouse and showed me the stock of Abro and that they don't sell it in their workshop. The other Abro in the market are not fake. They're all the same. |
Buy anyone that was made in 2017, strap it well and continue your Waka. 90% of the batteries sold in the country have expired. Check out the year and fitting sticker. If it the one that begins from 0-9, as fitting year, move away. Fitting date must begin with 2016-2017 till four years. Check it out. |
And with such resilience he also imported Abro type A gear oil that has caused pains to millions of Nigerian motorists since 2004. |
king406:Not only Passat, the Acuras, the Nissan, Audi, Porsche, Skoda, Lexus, infinity, BMW, Mitsubishi and Benz are groaning, gasping for breath before they finally give up the spirit |
LeJeun3:No one cares. The official policy is that the fuel should be minimum rating of 90 which the SON attest to after the research conducted among various stakeholders in the industry. When Nigeria phased out leaded fuel, we were happy for our cars. The leaded fuel has almost wiped out the Vw boras from our roads. The policy makers who were still using Peugeot as official cars allowed unleaded regular fuel as the one suitable for the country. It was also at this point that Coscharis and Honda place will not touch your car if you don't register with them. Honda used to say that they don't have the software for US specs but God pass them. Right now because of the gurus that decided to thread into murky waters of no go area, these dealerships have abandoned the 1m registration policy or no software for US specs. A big shout out to the guys on Nairaland that had improved the repairs industry to the extent that Nigerians bring in cars that even we don't even know the names all because of these gurus. |
angels09:87ron. Son quotes 90ron, pppra says 87 |
Scan any Mercedes and you will see cylinders that are misfiring. What do you think happened to vboot even with specialist mechanics. Engine always misfiring. It was common to find the air filter in the boot. They have all disappeared. Now the four eyed eclass has disappeared too. And the 2005-10 Mercedes are idling comfortably in a mechanic shop getting used to their final destination. Unnecessary expenses owning one. I have seen a bill of 900k given to someone who owned a brand new rclass for fuel related issues. Na war zone we dey o |
angels09:It is an only. Premium unleaded fuel only |
angels09:Range Rover recommends premium fuel unlike your Audi that requires premium fuel only. So I stick with that. |
angels09:They are not interested in fixing the problematic car that does not tolerate our fuel. It makes even a guru to become a learner. Autojosh, stop premiering the cars that will destroy the owners self esteem in Nigeria. |
This is a copy and paste topic. Autojosh, Nigeria only sell unleaded regular fuel and that is what we have here. Like you stated, all the faults are caused by lower octane fuel and that is why Mercedes, BMW, Acura, Nissan, Lexus, VW and Audi are going into extinction. The Petrol Stations to be wary of are those that have not changed their underground tanks to plastic. These are the ones that the fuel in their tanks automatically becomes poisoned fuel because the rust underground has destroyed the quality of the fuel. If your car requires unleaded premium fuel only, you should be very concerned but if it is like those local cars like Toyota and Honda with Kia and her sister Hyundai, no shaking. |
Just going through the Op post and I discovered that Sahara group are also selling dexron III d. Haba, seahorse competitors. Disgusting. All this in 2018. Op can you please google and show us what oil is dexron III d and if it is available too. Please close the thread as the oil is dangerous for public use |
Ipfreely:That is why I am surprised that sahara group will produce sae 50 oil in 2018 or even want to compete with 20w50 when others are looking for a way to convert all those oils to synthetic. The cepsa 20w50 from dubai is even Api SN and MRS has an API SM 20w50 but Sahara!!!!! |
We used to think like that until I used Oando SM 20w50 on my Range Rover Sport and it took me one week to get to Abuja from Lagos that even Oando had to ask me why should I use that oil? Then someone used cepsa 20w50 on his Range Rover Sport and the plugs were soaked with oil. People using 20w50 on their corollas and the engines going haywire. It is a good oil for our weather but not suitable for modern engines. 90% of the cars in Nigeria are US specs and the oil that they recommend for their vehicles is what the oil marketing companies should strive to produce and not oil for Peugeot 505 in 2018 |
Pardon the harsh words, very sorry about that but if it is all sahara group can bring out in 2018, it is disappointing. Mobil 1 has been upgraded to advanced full synthetic, Oando has upgraded to 5w30 and Total classic is now 20w50 and then the up and trendy Sahara group with their beautiful cng driven cars is introducing oils that destroys engines. Haba.!!! |
diportivo:See me here o. Another poverty alleviation oil produced by Sahara group in 2018. This thing weak me. Some Engine Oils Currently on the Shelves Can Harm Your Engine - Read the Lables! There are engine oils currently on the shelves at auto parts stores, gas station convenience stores, food stores, and other retail outlets that can cause harm to your car’s engine. Yes, you heard correctly - Cause harm to your car’s engine. These are obsolete engine oils formulated for use in cars built prior to the 1930s! Know how to read the labels on the front and back of the bottles of oil you buy or you may be using product that can cause unsatisfactory performance or harm to your engine. The service rating of passenger car and commercial automotive motor oils is classified by the American Petroleum Institute (API). The program certifies that engine oil meets certain Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) quality and performance standards. The service rating is shown in the API "Service Symbol Donut" on the product label. As shown in the illustration below, engine oils with an API SA Service Classification were formulated for use in cars built prior to 1930, and are now obsolete. Yet, there are still not hard to find in retail outlets. Read on about what you need to read on the labels. API SERVICE CLASSIFICATION FOR PASSENGER CAR ENGINE OIL Read the Labels! SAE Viscosity Grade The labels include important information to determine if an engine oil is appropriate for use in your vehicle. The first piece of information speaks to viscosity grade. The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) defines a numerical system for grading motor oils according to viscosity. The suffixes (0, 5, 10, 15 and 25) followed by the letter W designate the engine oil's "winter" grade. Look to your owner's manual. It specifies the viscosity grade required for your car's engine. Today, the most common grades are 5W-30. API Service Categories Whereas the labeling on the bottle of engine oil may suggest the product is a 5W-30, note, if there is no "W" between the 5 and the 30 it may not be a 5W-30. As an example, a 5-30 is not the same as an SAE 5W-30. The next "code" to look for is the API Service Classification. Although it might appear complicated to understand at the start, it is really a simple system to get your arms around. Think of it this way, when cars were first built, the oil they required needed an API SA Service Classification. From there, it moved to SB, SC, SD, and so on (skipping only SI and SK). So if you buy an engine oil meeting only API SA, it's an engine oil formulated for use in vehicles built in the 1920s. And SA is not hard to find mixed in with SM on the shelves at c-stores and others. Furthermore, it's also not hard to find SF, SJ and other API Service Categories on the shelves. Also, don't let price guide you. Engine oils with a Service Classification prior to SN (including SA) are often priced close to that of API SN. OEM Specific Performance Specifications Although the majority of vehicles currently on the road in the US specific the use of motor oils meeting a specific API Service Category, some vehicle manufacturers require use of lubricants that meet the original equipment manufacturer's (OEM) specifications. General Motor’s dexos is one example. Click for more about the dexos specification. Always check the labels on the motor oils purchased to assure they include any OEM specifications required in your vehicle. Read the labels on the oils you buy, ask questions when you have your oil changed and read your car owner's manual. Always consult your vehicle owner's manual to determine what motor oil you should use, and READ THE LABELS ON THE OIL YOU BUY. Check the info you gave. 2009 model. If it is upgraded to 2012, it is supposed to have a reverse camera. |
Is there reverse camera? |
erico2k2:You have given the answer. Did he ever use 0w20 or his mechanic used Oando for him. Let anyone who knows anyone with a chevrolet suv tell us how they have been enjoying their ride in Nigeria. Then we will think of the possibility of a successful engine transplant.. Watch my show on autoexpat on sunday at 7pm on mitv on dstv chan 255 where we are giving little info on oils. If your car manufacturer says use a particular oil, please do so. |
DaSugarBoi:Good as top up and not full replacement. Follow the instructions from the manufacturer |
Monsieur, écoute moi bien, c'est pas grave si tu peux pas maintient ta voiture, L'huile pour cette voiture c'est cher et si tu n'arrive pas à trouver la bas, c'est dommage. If the parts are cheaper here in Nigeria and we also say parts are expensive here, buy from the US. The people who turned to Toyota engines as last resort will only sell the cars as scrap. But meanwhile visiting the mechanic is a daily affair for them. |
Atf z1 and any good 5w30 engine oil. Atfz1 has been discontinued so look for dw1. If that's not available, get in touch for syngard Atf global |
LeJeun3:Bros gently gently. This guy will buy the engine. He is determined. We know where all the muranos went to when they converted to Toyota engines, all the freelanders. And all those that converted their air suspension to springs. Na owode get them |
dehavillandboy:I have never met a director is very rich. They want the best for their cars so they go for the best. They are the same people that uses Castrol Edge on their cars without bating a lid. Managers manage oils, used parts instead of new and so will cut corners. Let us ask anyone on the forum if their engines died because they were using Castrol? Can you also tell us the oil that you used to service the range that knocked. There are lr4 in the market without an engine selling for 2.4m. Oil is the key. And only directors use the right oil |
If they sell engines for 1.8m in Cameroon and in Lagos, they sell it at 1.3m, what is the difference? No one disputes the fact that the Toyota engine will not work but how long will it serve before it gives up the ghost. |
The difference between the price in Cameroon and Nigeria is just 500k. We always advice the owners to get good ones from the US. At 3400usd, it is even cheaper in the US. I was once being towed recently in a 1982 range rover with a Toyota engine and the fuel tank is linked to a Jerry can by the driver's side. That will be the end of the modified version.
|
Kingsyze:Bros, fully synthetic and advanced full synthetic are not the same. |
It depends on the price and the condition of the car. But why should you buy a venza? I have seen people moving to range rover from a toyota . You must have endured a lot from the mechanics. Hope it is not all those ajebutter lekki mechanics? |
