WebmastersHow Your Style Affects Your Brand| Brand Styling by SotonyeBob(op): 12:42pm On Jun 25, 2018
Your culture is your way of life. It’s what and how you talk, eat, walk, dress, interact and so much more.

It gets to form your belief/value system which is now divulged in your choices, decision making and styling.

And indeed, the choices and decisions you make are core in determining your feat in your personal life and business (brand) life. The impact of decision making whether good or bad cannot be disregarded.

Therefore, it’s imperative for brands to cultivate the right culture in order to avoid negative consequences.

Okay let’s use Messi as a case study ̶ yeah, the Messi you’re thinking.

He’s been a contender for the World Best Player alongside Cristiano Ronaldo for years and with the ongoing FIFA 2018 WorldCup this debate https://www.tekxus.com/blog/2018/06/22/how-your-style-affects-your-brand-brand-styling/#has resurfaced.

WebmastersBUILD YOUR BRAND COMMUNITY by SotonyeBob(op): 12:23pm On Jun 25, 2018
The most common aphorism about team work is “Together Everybody Achieves More”. It tends to embrace in us the essence of team work and value for one another.

An even more striking saying is “You don’t have a team because you don’t have a dream” and I concur.

A dream is what it is because it’s not yet in existence and depending on how big it is cannot be pushed by one man.

If you aim to go far you can’t do it alone, moreover when you are alone, your ideas, products and services will stay with you.

This is why teamwork is imperative in making dreams come true, but this is not new.

Many brands including start-ups already have insight on the importance of team work.

What’s new particularly in this part of the world, is the worth in having a brand community.

A brand community can be defined as a self-continuing group of consumers/clients sharing a system of values, standards and culture, who recognize bonds of membership with each other and with the brand. https://www.tekxus.com/blog/2018/06/20/build-your-brand-community/

“Until someone sees you and calls you your business name, you’ve not started doing business”.

This was the message that got the Tek-Preneurs at the May 2018 Tek-PRENIT session applauding.

Before then, – not like I was felt I had arrived or anything of that sort, but I was satisfied doing business on a low key.

I didn’t find it necessary getting the “whole” world know what I was up to, the business I was into or what I stood for.

As far as family and close friends were updated, that was fine by me. The rest of the world would probably know when I hit it big *winks*.

This was my mindset (a very bad one at that), until those words came forth and changed everything.

Branding is not just for businesses or corporate organizations. There are two kinds of branding; corporate and personal/entrepreneurial branding.

And apart from consistency, one way I know people would know you for your business, is if you’ve been able to portray your individuality as a brand.

my personal brand, personal branding

People should link you to your business and not the other way round. Even when your business becomes and international trademark, people should have known the brain behind it.

Imagine a scenario where your corporate brand is strong and worldwide but nobody knows it’s you or worse, an instance where someone else publicly takes your glory, I’m sure you wouldn’t find it funny.

Building your own personal brand is therefore very important in business and can go a long way to spur your business to the top.

It has become a requirement for anyone looking to grow their business, get a better job, get noticed by the press, take their career to the next level or meet new, high quality friends and industry recognition

Earlier in I want to share a coke, we made it clear that strategic branding can lead to a strong brand equity that adds value to your company’s products or services so that you have two assets, Your Brand and Your Business.

But with a high-quality personal branding, you have 3 assets – Your Corporate Brand, Your Business and You. I call it the “Triple Asset”.

branding

And it takes more than just a decision to create or build one. Just like you define your corporate brand personality, your personal brand has to be discovered and defined.

And if you don’t have a powerful and visible personal brand, you are putting yourself at a disadvantage in almost every aspect of your professional, business and personal life.

Walt Disney, Robert Kiyosaki, Donald Trump, Tony Elumelu and Strive Mayisiwa are entrepreneurial brands.

If you have not discovered yourself and values and how the heck did you build your corporate brand?

President of the United States, Donald Trump uses his last name extensively on his buildings and on the products he endorses (e.g. Trump Tower). Some say his brand is even bigger than his business. This is personal branding.

It is simply the practice of people marketing themselves and their careers as brands.

Truth be told, almost every individual has a personal brand. But not many of us have consciously cultivated these brands.

So these are ways or things to consider in other to create a strong and visible personal brand.

WebmastersHow To Get The Best Brand Slogan Ever by SotonyeBob(op): 1:23pm On Jun 12, 2018
If I can’t remember the slogan for any other network operator in Nigeria, I’ll always remember that of MTN. And I know you will too.

Not to defame any network operator but it will take me a while to remember the slogan for Glo, the network I use or any other network.

Okay, a slogan is not just a set of words that advertisers create for fancy but they have a the purpose of giving our brand message; a compact statement that declares why the brand matters, what it stands for and how it is stands apart from competitors.

Slogans are made to have few words and so have a strategic way of printing the brand’s message on our subconscious.

So that on hearing the words “Everywhere you go”, it rings a bell.

This is the same with these brand slogans: “It’s in you” “If I don’t take care of him, who will?” “Every woman is a star”, “Kills insects dead…” etc and I bet these slogans ring a bell too!!

Like these slogans, a good slogan in the long run would play with the customer’s mind, making it believe theirs is a reliable product.

No wonder almost every residing Nigerian has an MTN SIM card. Because they believe no matter where you go in Nigeria MTN service will be available.

A brand name or logo alone cannot stand as a solid communication to speak for the brand; neither can your brand message/promise be on the hearts of all your customers.

Thus, brand slogans have a key role in expressing a brand’s message and are appealing, as well as elaborate as compared to the brand name. Apparently, a phrase with a meaning is easier for people to relate to and remember.

how to get the best brand slogan ever

You already know that bringing your brand to the spotlight is our priority. Therefore, in other to help you create a mind blowing slogan for your business, here are ten tips for you:

Start From The Logo
If your brand doesn’t have a logo yet, you should get that done first. A slogan works with a logo in order to promote brand identity, unless your sole marketing medium is on radio.

WebmastersDo You Even Have A Brand Message? by SotonyeBob(op): 10:28am On Jun 06, 2018
I once got a client on a social media platform. He needed a logo design for his brand and so I sent him our creative brief.

On receiving his response to our creative brief, it was evident that he had not established a message he would want to communicate to his audience about his brand.

With growing awareness about the need for a brand identity and what’s in a logo, most businesses have begun to seek for good logo designers.

But like this client many they do not realize it’s important to have their brand message embedded even in their design and their marketing strategies.

Many businesses would have their logos and websites done, thinking their brand identity is set and ready to fly.

But branding goes way beyond that. Your brand identity is just the overarching umbrella but consists of your brand message and brand personality.

While your brand message is how you verbally describe your brand. Your brand personality is the means by which you express that message visually. It’s the colours you choose, your logo design and the activities you perform.

However, your logo and colours may attract attention, but it’s the messaging that will connect with your audiences and drive response.

Once design has established the look and style, it’s the message that will clarify your positioning and articulate your value to your target audiences.

Of all the brand elements to consider, the identity and messaging are the most crucial and should be the first, because it guides and informs all the other areas of your brand from the logo, to your brand colour palette and packaging.

This makes sure they all match up, are aligned, consistent, and describing your brand in the best way possible.

Brand messaging is therefore your verbal brand. It’s your brand... https://www.tekxus.com/blog/2018/06/05/do-you-have-a-brand-message/

WebmastersFacebook Meets Port-Harcourt| Gives grants to SME's by SotonyeBob(op):
Early last year, Facebook announced its desire to train and support over 50,000 students, small businesses and creative entrepreneurs across Nigeria in 2018.

Ms Ebele Okobi, Facebook’s Public Policy Director, Africa, said then that the training would be through a series of digital skills, as well as long-term impact programmes.

By November, they announced a new nationwide initiative in Nigeria to further cement its commitment and investment in the country, and across the continent.

The initiative, according to Facebook, would bring together developers, start-ups, and the wider tech community across Nigeria, and provide them with the resources and facilities that will help them develop the Nigeria technology ecosystem, collaborate, learn, and exchange ideas.

The NG_Hub was launched in Lagos, Nigeria, in partnership with Co-creation Hub (CcHub) and will now serve as its first flagship community hub space in Africa.

It features bespoke works of art from local artists in Nigeria and includes workspaces, meeting rooms, a games and chill out room, an event space and a well catered café.

It will also be the focal point for a number of training programmes, aimed at attracting the best talents and driving innovation in Nigeria’s tech ecosystem and equip Nigerian SMEs, tech entrepreneurs and the next generation of leaders to better understand and utilize the power of digital tools for economic growth.

Statistics show that nearly 1 in 2 small businesses on Facebook say they built their business on the platform.

62% per cent stated they have been able to use Facebook to help find employees for their business.

Over half (58 %) of small businesses on the platform say they have been able to hire more employees due to growth since joining Facebook.

And in Nigeria, more than 22 million people use Facebook every month and 87 % of SMEs say that when they hire, digital skills are more important than where an applicant went to school.

This demonstrates that the power of digital skills to aid economic growth and development has never been more important.

With the growing entrepreneurial minds in Nigeria getting more involved with the opportunities the internet provides in business. The interest in Nigeria is no shocker. Facebook has 1.37 billion daily active users on average worldwide and 7.2 million daily visitors from Nigeria alone.

So pushing their mission “To give people the power to build community and bring the world closer together” in Africa but firstly in Nigeria was surely a good option.

Facebook partnered with other hubs across the country as follows Ventures Platform in Abuja; nHub in Jos; Colab Hub in Kaduna; DI Hub in Kano; Start Innovation Hub in Uyo; Roar Hub in Enugu and Ken Saro Wiwa Hub in Port Harcourt.

The picture of a mother holding her new born babe was one of the most beautiful things I have ever set my eyes on.

It was an artwork made by this seemingly old man.

He had a young stature but the white hairs on his dark chin showed poverty was getting the best of him.

How could someone filled with so much talent be in a spot and wallow in abject lack when he could get in touch with the globe and rise to affluence.

There were so many beautiful paintings, sculptures and awards on display in his gallery.

I had been directed to get some awards made by him for a departmental event and as a tech enthusiast, I decided to enlighten him.

He could flaunt these beauties on an existing online platform or meet a tech solution-based company to create his own online presence and become an online entrepreneur.

He picked interest so I gave him a contact, got the awards and left.

Months later I saw some of his artworks on a popular e-commerce site and they were sure selling out.

Just like this artist you can also promote your business on the World Wide Web.

These are ways you can achieve global awareness…

WebmastersWhat’s In A Logo? by SotonyeBob(op): 11:09am On May 29, 2018
Going back millions of years ago, primeval people put down the basis for graphic arts.

They painted animals in caves, representing themselves and ideas with marks and illustrations.

This became more evident in Ancient Egypt. They used hieroglyphics and believed there was great power in a name. If someone’s name was remembered then he or she would survive in the afterlife.

Their paintings and sculpture had precise representational images and colors that had specific meanings.

Moving on, ancient Egyptians begun to use grids in their design to maintain proportions and ratios which is similar to what many logo designers do today.

Meanwhile, calligraphy around this time developed in China. Here each word or idea had its own symbol and this influenced later languages like English.

Getting to the medieval Europe, there were heraldic crests and symbolic signs.

Royal families were assigned crests with certain set of colors and shapes for societal meaning and status.

And during tournaments helped people spot their favorite “brands”.

Society grew and natives couldn’t make everything they needed.

Shops started hanging up signs to identify what goods or services they provided.

King Richard II of England in 1389 made a decree calling for breweries to hang a sign showing what they did or risk having their ale confiscated.

This led to businesses distinguishing themselves by adding heraldic images to their signs.

These images turned to names, allowing patrons to develop a sense of brand loyalty to their favorite brewer.

In 1440, Johannes Gutenberg invented the printing press; this was the highlight as printed materials were made available.

Authors and printers of materials wanted to claim ownership of their work.

Businesses begun to distinguish themselves from their competitors via advertisements as newspapers increased in circulation.

This set the stage for logo designs, as more firms spread across the globe and businesses saw the need to be identified. Then the concept of branding evolved.

Connecting the dots to business in the 21st century, humans have always had the desire to be known and recognized.

This also went on to be incorporated in their businesses and institutions and what better way to communicate your identity if not through a logo.

This is what has made some important brands reconstruct their logos overtime to become an ideal representation of their brand.

A perfect example is the series of changes that led to the two golden arches of the https://www.tekxus.com/blog/2018/05/14/whats-in-a-logo/

WebmastersYour Brand Needs A Video| Video Marketing by SotonyeBob(op): 4:30pm On May 28, 2018
It’s amazing how Minimie chin-chin from the House of Dufil has stolen the hearts of our children and even adults.

Personally, it’s not as tasty as I would want, because I like sugar-coated snacks.

But the comedy skits they publicized for the brand sold me out. I love that Concentration video especially the part where Kpako told his friend Aje, “no worry wen your mama die we go come”.

The video always hits me whenever I see a pack of minimie and I just tend to grab one.

Initially, I did not understand why this happened but now I do.

Just like colors have a psychological effect on the human mind; pictures which have so many colors also leave a lasting impression.

video that touches the sky. video marketing

Now videos are a series of pictures set to play in a consecutive order. They are in short moving pictures. If pictures can leave an impression and boost engagement, how much more videos?

If a picture is worth a thousand words, with this we cannot dispute that a one minute video is worth about 1.8 million words.

Among other digital marketing strategies, 87% of marketers use video marketing for content marketing.

This is not a surprise. You’re 53 times more likely to show up first on Google if you have a video embedded on your website.

With the emergence of Youtube in 2005, big brands like Nike recognized the opportunity and got the first one million views for their Ronaldinho video, setting a lifetime record to be followed.

Google a year later realized the possibilities in video marketing and bought Youtube for a whopping 1.65 billion US dollars.

Since Google owns YouTube, there has been a significant increase in how much videos affect your search engine rank.

While it’s been easy to predict a time in the future when several marketing tools will go extinct it, there’s no telling the end of video marketing.

video that touch the sky. video marketing

There’s a shift from TV adverts as 90% of internet users watch videos on their mobile, moreover video adverts on mobiles are less expensive.

Google states that mobile users and desktop viewers are 2 and 1.4 times (respectively) more likely to feel a sense of personal connection to brands than TV viewers.

From the third quarter of 2013 alone, mobile video views have grown more than 233 percent. YouTube reports that 500 million hours of videos are watched each day and mobile video consumption rises 100% every year.

Since people like to watch videos and the number of smartphone users keeps growing, your video audience also keeps expanding.

Video content engages us and ignites emotions, be it exhilaration, compassion, hope, gratitude or surprise.

Moreover, people love to share at will videos they find interesting, so that there’s a cycle of shares even without much effort. 92% of mobile users share videos with others.

Social networks have made this even easier. On Facebook, videos play automatically without clicking, Whatsapp and Instagram as well as Facebook have put in place 60-Second Videos in Stories.

82% of Twitter users watch video content on twitter and YouTube is the second most popular social network in the world.

WebmastersOnline Entrepreneur! The Perfect Path by SotonyeBob(op): 3:57pm On May 25, 2018
It’s no news that the ICT has made being an entrepreneur more prestigious than it was some decades ago.

Before now, being an entrepreneur meant hustling and struggling till you were stricken in years.

It was more preferable to have a steady, safe and secure job/ income where there would be gratuity and pension benefits when your bones become weak and your eyes begin to fade.

However, with decreasing job opportunities especially in this part of the world more persons were self employed. They started up their own businesses, with many firms doing things the same way over and over again.

On a yearly basis, little progress was made and they were only able to get their services to reach their immediate network.

online entrepreneur, the perfect path

But the internet and the opportunities it makes available has made the everyday hustler create a niche for themselves to become renowned entrepreneurs.

By creating platforms that make life easier and help people connect better, entrepreneurs like Mark Zuckerberg and Seun Osewa who developed Facebook and Nairaland respectively have created a lifetime source of income for themselves.

You can be like them and create a more fascinating way of interaction between people.

Or you can also create platforms like Jeff Bezos did with Amazon, Tunde Kehinde and Raphael Afaedor with Jumia and Steven Bartlett does with Social Chain to help other businesses/organizations sell and move forward globally.

Surfing the internet becomes an essential part of your job, once you become an online entrepreneur.

You gain from having a network of people, from reading vast articles, and some times giving out personal stories on social media.

Most persons spend a lot of time online, so if you’re going to be spending so much time online, you might also want to use it to your advantage.

WebmastersCreating Your Own Brand Colour Palette by SotonyeBob(op): 3:36pm On May 25, 2018
As a child, a makeup artist, a painter or whoever, when you have a brush and a set of water colors or a colour palette placed before you, it’s always difficult to make a selection.

Even when it comes to fashion and styling, colours always have a way of questioning our knowledge of aesthetics.

This is also applicable in branding a business.

Branding is like putting on clothes, accessories, make-up and shoes on a business. And you know how the saying goes “Dress how you want to be addressed”.

So when picking colors with which you want to represent your brand it’s important you do this carefully. I don’t need to go into details on the why; you can read more on RAINBOW OF BRANDING.

Colour choice is very vital in the growth of a business that’s why TEKXUS would give a guide to brand colour selection (yeah, as promised).

Now you have a clean canvas placed before you, but first you should ask questions like:

What personality do I want my brand to possess?
How can I trigger emotional connection in clients using colours?
What colours would my target audience relate to?
What colours are in use by my competition?
Are my colours affecting my business positively or negatively? (Of course this is when you already have brand colors, and if negative you should consider rebranding).
If you’re unable to answer these effectively, the grasshopper.com has a quiz that could enable you select from colours that depict your brand the most.

creating your own brand colour palette

Heading on, there are some research findings you should know about certain colours and the attention they possess.

Generally, ads in colour are read up to 42% more often than the same ads in black and white.

They may keep the viewer’s interest for less than two-third of a second whereas colored images may sustain the attention for more than two seconds.

Red has been seen to trigger stimulation and appetite, cause people to action as well as grab attention.

Blue creates a sense of trust and reliability as seen in logos such as Facebook, HP and Samsung.

Black, navy blue, royal purple, and deep or dark green are common choices that signify sophistication and luxury. Orange and yellow can convey affordability or fast-moving deals.

Putting these together Tekxus came up with its exclusive brand colours, blue and orange.

I bet you want to know why and how we did it and do same for your brand.

In all, the brighter colors are associated with vitality and the darker colours are representatives of peace.

Gender is another primary factor in choosing brand colours. If your target audience is largely male, you might want to use bold colours.

Men are more receptive to shades of colours. Whilst women prefer softer colours (tints of colours).

Green or blue are good choices for nearly any audience.

creating your own brand colour palette

Choosing your brand palette

Having put all of the above into consideration, three colours at most five (preferably the shades or tints of the original) would be required.

Of course with the help of grasshopper.com providing colours suitable for your brand personality; you are now to choose a base, an accent and a neutral colour.

When selecting these colours, it is important to note the colour scheme (monochromatic, analogous, complementary and triadic) to be used.

You can use the monochromatic scheme when you want to emphasize one brand trait (probably the most important).

However, the hue, tints and shades should be used.

WebmastersI Want To Share A Coke by SotonyeBob(op): 2:30pm On May 25, 2018
Have u ever wondered why anyone anywhere in the world can relate with the Coca-Cola brand and its products?

Even a year old child recognizes a bottle of Coke on seeing one. Why?

Coca-Cola is one of the most comprehensive trademarks and this distinguishes it from other companies.

It’s packaging, online profiles, marketing strategies, shows and events have a set standard.

In over 130 years of their existence they have continued to maintain the core letters and font of their logo (Spencerian script, a popular writing style used then).

The colors red, white sometimes gray and black are colors you can always relate the Coca-Cola Company to. Even the video of the Coke Studio Africa hit song “Said” by Runtown and Nasty-C portrays Coca-Cola.

All of this was not left to fate.

On 8 May 1886, Dr Pemberton nailed the formula, but it was his bookkeeper who came up with the name. Frank M Robinson, suggested that “the two Cs would look well in advertising”.

So you see, they were all strategically orchestrated to create a profile they will forever be associated with and this is branding.

Branding is one of the most essential facets of any industry. Some businesses brand, without even knowing why they did.

A brand is the mirror of what your business stands for and it communicates the uniqueness, strength and traits of your business.

It is your promise to your customers and is derived from who you are, who you want to be and who people perceive you to be.

WebmastersHow To Get Your Online Market Through Digital Marketing by SotonyeBob(op): 2:19pm On May 25, 2018

There’s an urgent payment to be made at the hospital, lest your mum would not be attended to, meanwhile she lies on a stretcher gasping for breath. But there money’s in the bank, how do you get help?

When you want to get the latest iMAC pro what’s the first thing you do? I bet you would want to first verify the price and definitely on as many platforms as possible.

You just relocated to a certain vicinity or town and you require some décor in your new home. You haven’t even eaten after all the hassle from moving. There’s no food item and you have no idea where the nearest market is or the nearest fast food. What do you do?

The categorically, unquestionable and undeniable answer to that is the “Online Market”.

We are always in scenarios like the once illustrated above and what’s the first thing we do?

We pick up our phones and ask goggle or use that bank app or that e-commerce site.

This is because the market to upset bills, check out new stuffs, request for services and even buy food items are all online.

Yeah food stuffs but not just that, because on hearing market what comes to mind is the usual market where food items are bought.

Your market is all those in need of your product or service and they are online.

As an entrepreneur you have to maximize this to its full potential in your business.

You might be an online entrepreneur but you’re even more devastated.

You have a unique brand identity, that’s great! You have social media platforms, more fantastic! There’s even a website for your brand, even better!!

But from month to month, you do not get clients or customers from your online presence. Your website is as deserted as The Sahara.

How do you grow your business when there’s no influx of persons on your several online platforms?

Statistics are; that for every 100 persons that view a website or any online platform 25 persons are interested and at least 5 persons would require your service or product and then patronize you.

Meanwhile you haven’t even been able to get 10 persons to view your online platforms.

What you have to do is pull in traffic!!!

traffic, digital marketing, online, sales

You have to publicize this platforms to as many as possible especially your targeted audience.

The market is there. All you need to do is reach out to them.

There’s a man who just moved to your town and requires your décor expertise. There’s a client who needs that iMac pro, a tired customer who need your delicacies.

But you are nowhere to be found on the world wide web. Your website doesn’t show up when he/she searches for a fast food in that area.

You just have to draw traffic to your online presence especially website, that’s if you have one. And if you don’t, get one, here’s how.

Deploy strategies online (digital marketing). Make use of the technology advantage.

The nervous system requires input and the olfactory organ (the nose) was the most essential source of input in primitive times.

However, the eyes have become the primary source of all our experiences; research shows that approximately 80% of what we assimilate is visual.

RED – energizing, exciting, passion, wealth, importance, attention, irritation, provoke anger and danger.

ORANGE – warm, happy, optimism, friendship, adventure, good communication, enthusiasm, rejuvenation, courage, vitality, pride, tension and aggression

YELLOW – inquisitiveness, creativity, uplifting, hopeful, cheerful, fun, critical, judgmental and analytical

GREEN – renewal, growth, harmony, hope, nature, balance, prosperity and envy

BLUE – calming, peaceful, devotion, wisdom, loyalty, trust, caring, predictable, conservative, formal and rigid

INDIGO – infinity, intuition, integrity, idealism, introspection, judgment and intolerance

VIOLET– nobility, creativeness, selflessness, mystery, fantasy, spirituality, inspiration, cynicism, pompous behavior, and immaturity

People see colour before they absorb anything else. Research has shown that 60-92% of the time, people make assessments based on colour alone.

Colours are efficient in influencing moods and feelings (positively or negatively) as seen in the illustrations, and you know emotions are powerful in driving our decision making.

This is what many recognizable brands have put into use to pull their intended market.

Having a logo is good business but as a brand, you want to cultivate a strong emotional connection with your customers.

You can’t do that with just your logo. But your brand colours can create that connection to your clients’ hearts.

In fact, colour is one of the biggest factors that designers take into account when creating a logo.
