I'm an igbo to the core buh honestly speaking, ojukwu failed us,all that was done to bring peace between him and gowon was futile, how can u start a war ucnt finish..subjecting the civilians to a gruesome attack by the nigerian soldiers...all the 3years of blood shed is on his head...Ojukwu was not n is not a hero...full stop..

Good to see some igbos with deep reasoning .... for a war which the FMG of Nigeria humbly declared a no victor no vanquish war..... I see no reason why the few people who caused the war should be seen as heroes.. Can't remember the FMG of Nigeria singling out a Nigerian soldier as the hero of. the war even when the Biafra soldiers surrendered to them. In my own opinion the real heroes are the innocent children and women from any part of Nigeria that lost there lives in the course of the war and also patriotic and loyal soldiers from both sides who paid the ultimate price for what they believed in and fought till death for.

well said brother, I just cant help to think that a lot more lives could be saved if Ojukwu had done things differently. Aburi was never going to be accepted because oil had been discovered in the region.

As for Nigeria, I don't think anyone hates me. I have lived most of my life outside Tate south east and I haven't been discriminated against. Igbos are doing well all over Nigeria, we have federal appointments and hold key positions (Ngozi okonjo iweala) but we always tend to. overlook all these to continue playing the victim. Forget what you see on nairaland, igbos and yorubas live in peace in real life.

no one likes an arrogant person. I'm igbo yet I get irritated at the attitude of some Igbo sometimes. Igbo call hausas aboki and Yoruba ugly, are they supposed to like that. respect is reciprocal, I respect other people and I know that they will respect me.

I still maintain that we should let go of the past and make something for ourselves in this Nigeria.
remain blessed

May the Good lord bless the two wonderful igbo parents that brought you to this world and bred you to become a rationale and upright Igbo man you are today.... I would urge you to keep propagating this gospel of rationality and detribalization amongst your fellow Igbo brothers and make them see reasons why they should stop playing victims and look beyond hate and and an age long vendetta. Though I am Yoruba but you have spoken my mind quite well in the most diplomatic way possible. As for me to a large extent I believe in the Nigerian project and also the quality in our diversity if we make unity a constant factor. Enough of the blame games.

Romance / Knowing And Sensing True Love From Miles Away!! by Sowl(m): 12:46am On Apr 17, 2015
Its now becoming an ever increasing trend amongst couples being clueless about what love in its real sense entails. I am a member of quite a few relationship pages and i have read so many relationship ordeals about 1 of the couples in a supposed relationship still being confused as to whether there love is being reciprocated by there partner, and this keeps me wondering why most couples totally ignore the everyday signs in there relationships by kicking there thinking faculties out to the dungeons and just totally going with there hearts which is one of the reason most couples cant seem to make the easiest of decisions in a relationship. I have discovered that over the years a person in love shuns all forms of logical reasoning of ''what is'' and prefers to go with idealistic fantasies of ''what should be'',i discovered also that whichever party seems to love more would refuse to take heed of the ill treatments, the emotional, physical and psychological trauma or abuse he or she goes through everyday in such a relationship, and the most painful of all is they find it hard to take the most logical and easiest decision at times like this, which is to honourably quit such a relationship when the alarm is at its peak.... Whoever thought of the quote ''love is blind'' truely saw deep into the love phenomenon. Now to the main reason behind my article ''knowing true love'',unlike how most people see it.
Knowing true love isnt rocket science at all and would never be a problem once couples invest an equal amount of there brain (thinking faculty) and heart (emotions) in whichever relationship they find themselves in,what am saying therefore is loving with your heart and thinking with your brain should be 50/50, none of the two factors should take more priorty than the other. Now how does any one know if there partners love them truely, its simple all u need do is take note of there actions to the tiniest detail.
The saying ''action speaks way louder than any voice muterred'' is the only way you would really know if truelly your spouse loves you like they claim to. Any tunde, diezianni and hakeem can claim to love you and end up assassinating you in the twinkle of an eye,but actions would always give you the needed clues to ascertain such a fact.
There is no doubting the fact that when a man is truelly in love with a lady he acts like a baby in the presence of his woman, while when a lady his truelly in love with her man she acts in a motherly manner towards the guy in question.
A good example of this is a female friend of mine on my bbm, this lady in question would use her guys pictures on her dp at every chance she gets,i wont be wrong if i said she used her boyfriends dp 80% of the time on all her social networks, she doesnt take time showing him off to those who care to see and she is always quick to tell any guy wanting to be more than just friends about her guy and relationship status, whether the dude in question reciprocates this love gestures of hers is what still beats my imagination, but if nothing at all i can tell you all is this lady is really and truelly deeply in love.
A guy in love would express it more in actions than in words, once your guy tells you the ''i love you'' word more than he shows it then you should be suspicious, this traits are peculiar to players who see saying ''i love you'' to any lady that gets entangled in there web of hypnosis as simple as breathing free air.
With all said and done true love in its real sense is truelly and really exhibited with more action than its said using mere words. So when next your spouse says ''i love you'',try and observe this in every sense that he or she conmesurates such words with actions no matter how small or trivial the act might be.
Caveat; when i say knowing some one loves you is determined by there actions, for guys this actions may include and not necessarily limited to sex or making love to the lady, while for the ladies this actions may include and not necessarily limited to just financial favours and materialistic provisions from the guy.

It seems our Igbo brothers are quick to forget the aftermath of the presidential election were 80% of those who voted GEJ were mainly Igbo and yet GEJ still lost, sometimes I get baffled as to why the Igbo feel like they are the only tribe residing in lagos....last time I checked we have hausa's, kalabari's ,itshekiri's ,middle belters and other tribes who would be glad to forge an allegiance with the Yoruba's to achieve the dream of aligning lagos with the federal government. The present honour given to the Igbo tribe as a tribe is a pendulum that could as well switch to other tribes in lagos so let it not get into there heads. These Igbo rationale man who wrote this masterpiece should be seen as an angel sent from above to his kinsmen to retrace there political steps in lagos ,so as to prevent the fatal political miscalculation that occurred during the federal elections by the igbo's .

I had to bring up this topic with what I saw on an old thread that dates back to the year 2013 on naira land..... The topic talked about the worst TV commercials created by a company and aired by a TV station. And I couldn't help myself but laugh out loud at the witty, funny, frank and maybe harsh critics made by nairalanders grin about the said adverts, the highly criticised advert would be that of Honeywell products(who on GODs lovely earth directs adverts for that coy ) but its all good. Now I was left to ponder if really there wasn't any outstanding and creative advert aired on any 9JA station in the last decade in the history of 9JA TV commercials with the millions of naira invested in such projects and the efforts directed towards it also.
IMO a few adverts have stood out in terms of creativity, which mostly have been MTN adverts, I can recall in the early days of MTN.in Nigeria an advert where a young guy had a crush on a lady he always saw at a nearby park and didn't have the courage to talk to her and one thing led to another ( can't really remember how the whole advert played out) he was able to get her number and later called her.. The catch phrase " thought u had never ask" still rings a bell to me till today and the wonderfully crafted smile and dimples of the lady in question. I could go on and on with the few adverts which were quite creative which are mostly MTN related adverts IMO, but for the sake of saving you guys from a long post would stop here for now.
I need u guys to tell me which advert in your opinion in the last decade or more on Nigerian stations have been an hallmark of creative thinking, with a well laid out message for the target audience according to you.

Politics / Governor Fashola Accusing GEJ Of Sabotaging GMB/PYO Campaign Strategies. by Sowl(m): 6:14am On Jan 23, 2015
Dear Compatriots,

Barely 48 hours ago I invited you to a press briefing to unveil our plans to raise funding for the Buhari-Osinbajo campaign.

I told you about the problems we were having with the domain by the Federal Government, which forced us to switch from www.apcgmbpyo.com.ng to www.apcgmbpyo.org.

I mentioned the commercial nature of the transactions we had with the businesses who were partnering with us and the benefits to the economy. I also stated very clearly that these businesses had no partisan relationship but are providing professional service.

I said so, in order to protect their businesses because of the increasing intolerance we were witnessing from the Jonathan and PDP Presidential campaign and some Federal Government agencies that have taken a partisan position.

It is with very deep sadness that I address you all today, because I never expected that I will witness in Nigeria some of the very distasteful and disgraceful conduct that the Federal Government, the PDP and the President have embarked upon, by way of repression of freedoms.

As a Nigerian, I feel personally embarrassed.

Before the end of Tuesday when I addressed you here, the National Communications Commission (the NCC) had issued a letter to the telecoms operators not to carry political messages. I will leave a copy of one of such letter to you.

The question to ask is, if traditional media, radio, newspapers and television can carry political messages, why should new and social media not participate and benefit?

Why should commercial transactions that promote business, the economy and jobs be frustrated because of one man’s desire to serve?

Why should a President who says he cares about young people and wants their votes be shutting down their generation’s platform?

Is the President himself not using the same platform? Is this not a media censorship?

As if this was not enough, reports reaching me yesterday evening was that the 35350 platform for contributing by SMS had been shut down.

On Tuesday when I announced the opening of the platform we getting 4-5 text messages of N100 each every one minute, and 5,400 messages had been received by 2.30pm after which they had stopped and I was getting text messages on my own phone by Nigerians complaining that they could no longer access the 35350 platform.

Approval was given by the same NCC to the Goodluck-Sambo campaign in 2010.

Inspite of these irritations, it is encouraging to us to note and to report to you that the enthusiasm of Nigerians for change is already visible from the first day we launched these payment platforms. Between the 5 banks alone, we have raised little sums of N822,928.80 from bank payments and N606,000 has been raised from the internet platform before the interference.

This is what we sought to achieve. A democratization of fund raising, transparency and commercial opportunities for businesses.

From now, the bank and one card scratch platforms are working and the urge Nigerians who wish to join this movement of change to continue to use them.

We use this medium to implore Mr. President to redeem his democratic credentials and act according to the peace pact he signed by directing NCC to restore the 35350 platform.

After all, this is nothing but a context of ideas aimed at serving the people.

Dear compatriots, there are dark clouds gathering, but I remain optimistic that they will yield to a glorious dawn. The promise of Nigeria is greater that the ambition of one man or a political party.

Beyond the campaign of the APC for change, there is already a momentum of the Nigerian people for change that is far ahead of our campaign.

This is the people’s desire, nothing can stop it. The dictates of honour demand that no right thinking person should attempt to resist it.

May God bless and prosper Nigeria.

Romance / Top 10 Hilarious “nigerian Chat-up Lines” Used By Nigerianguys by Sowl(m): 6:11pm On Jan 18, 2015
Nigerians are very creative; they have the ability to create
funny chat-up lines in a loving way.
You will be surprised at how amusing they can get when
they’re interested in someone and need to initiate a
conversation.
Some could be funny, creative, intriguing or downright
annoying but at this point all they’re thinking about is how to
create a common ground, approach a stranger without getting
embarrassed or rejected.
Here are the top ten Nigerian funniest chat-up lines that will
make you laugh your heart out:
1. “You look familiar, have we met?”
This seems to be the most popular in Nigeria when it comes
to chat-up lines. A guy walks up to you and is like “… Hey. ..
You look familiar, have we met?”. ( And you’re staring blankly
like …” No, I don’t think so” and he goes …”Oh common don’t
tell me you can’t remember me. ..”. So in a bid to defend your
memory, you oblige and chat or you really don’t care and tell
the person off.
2. “Can I follow you home? ‘Cos my parents told me to always
follow my dreams”
When you hear a line like this, you may be too weak to react
cos you’re boiling within with laughter.
All that runs through your mind could be “what the heck is he
(or she as the case may be) thinking?”.
3. “Hey, you are very pretty, you look exactly like my mum”
This sounds awkward because the lady does not know how
the person’s mom look. However, some women may feel
honoured while some maybe like .. ” What? are you alright?
You wish!”
4. “Ooooo Boi! I wish I met you first”
This line is pretty famous in the circles of those who meet
someone they think they like when they’re already in a serious
relationship.
It’s a funny way to break the ice but it works. Sometimes, It
has an uncanny feel to it that can soften the other person’s
disposition towards you.
5. “You’re the only egg in my roll. Without you I’m just a
buns”
Now talk about downright hilarious. Even the meanest or
hardest Nigerian mind will break a smile on hearing this. The
mere thought of the person trying to talk to you being a “buns”
is so funny.
Using this is sure to kick start your much needed chat but
you’ve got to get creative to keep it going.
6. “I’m not a prophet but I can see you and I together”
When you hear such lines, the first thing that comes to mind
will be “hmmmm, the brother’s getting all religious on me” and
as funny as it may sound it, works for some people.
7. “I thought happiness starts with letter H, why does mine
start with U?”
How creative and smooth, when you hear such lines you just
smile because you get carried away by the mind behind those
words.
It’s funny but cute at the same time, words like this can break
any ice cold heart and get a conversation going. Besides, give
the brother some credit for the pun.
8. “Does it Hurt? (What?) Falling from heaven”.
I’ve heard men use this line a lot. Its just a sweet way to tell a
lady that she is an angel.
It’s kind of abstract because it starts with a question – Does
it hurt? It’ll definitely trigger some curiosity in the mind of the
lady because it’s awkward. And the later part – falling from
heaven – creates the opposite reaction because they never
saw it coming.
It’s an old classic pick up line that still works.
9. “Hi I’m kind of lost. please can you help me find my way to
…..?”
I can bet you this line has been in use for decades and till date
it works. It makes you sound vulnerable and in need of help
but the aim is to draw attention and start a conversation. This
kind of pick of line works better in public places.
10. “Now I know why Solomon had 700 wives… He never met
you!”
Talk about religious and funny, this is sure to earn you a smile
from that ‘sister’ that’s got your nerves in a twist and your
mind all tangled up.
This type of lines that have a biblical feel to them are best
tried on religious person with a sense of humour.
When it comes to chat-up or pick-up lines, you’ll hear a lot of
things. However, in the mouth of the right person, a line that
sounds so silly can be said in a way that will charm the other
party and culminate in a lasting relationship – be it platonic or
romantic.
The thing is to adequately access the circumstances and
environment under which you’re meeting as well as the person
in question otherwise the only thing you maybe picking is a
“dirty slap”.
