abduleez1:I'll simply give you a synopsis, and you can go look into the details on your own later. One of the worst tribes to have ever flourished in Africa is the Dahomeys, who are near the top of the list. To begin with, they were delinquents. They would frequently pick fights with smaller neighboring provinces, win, and enlarge their domain. I may be mistaken, but I don't believe the Dahomeys and Europeans have ever engaged in open conflict. From what I recollect, they were primarily on the same page. The Dahomeys were more than ready to assist the Europeans in their quest for slaves because they were in possession of a sizable number of slaves and those Europeans were prepared to pay well for them. By shedding the blood of their neighbors, the Dahomeys expanded their sphere of influence and they developed their economic system by exporting prisoners to Europe. In fact, it reached a point where they were one of the largest tribes in Africa engaged in the slave trade and were practically unstoppable. Even when the slave trade was outlawed in Europe, they looked for nations that still required slaves and maintained their money-making venture. Later, they were uncovered, and forced to sign a treaty promising never to sell slaves again. But did that stop them? No. They later lost a war with another African state, which led to the destruction of their kingdom. And to think that this film is allegedly based on real-life incidents. |
1950s feminists be like: Women are equal to men 2022 feminists be like: WE ARE MEN Who is a queen? ![]() Also, of all the decent African kingdoms you could have explored, you chose the Dahomeys and moved to portray them as noble warriors fighting for their land. ![]() What the Ah Ctual Fück ![]() This trailer is so stûpid and it has fûcked my brain.

JackBizzle: LOL, practically all of what you've said here is debatable. Before I analyze your assertions, let me just state that Shang Chi is a better story than Dr. Strange 2. There isn't a single spot where Dr Strange 2 excels, if we were to aggregate critiques from the wider population across all platforms on the internet. The fact that Dr. Strange made more money than Shang Chi is the only thing that makes it a nominee.Potential Spoilers Ahead. 1. The graphical prowess of Dr. Strange 2 was just OK. The aesthetics are indicative of Marvel movies. The entirety of what the flick gave us had previously been set up by earlier films. I concur with you that the movie's characters are better, for this reason. The number of multiverse realms actually utilized in the film was quite limited (only four) but Shang Chi featured actual dragons and the MCU's first-ever exposition of Chinese culture. 2. Your assessment of Shang Chi's storyline development surprised me. The action didn't suddenly shift from a thousand years ago to the 21st century. His mother was only telling her version of history. Furthermore, it is only reasonable that the antagonist should be introduced and established in the audience's minds effectively through a plot. How often have we grumbled that fictional antagonists act sinisterly merely for the purpose of doing so? It was well worth the few minutes it took to give us some context on Wenwu. Now that that is out of the way, Shang Chi actually had a pace that was quite convincing. 3. Wanda isn't any worse of a bad guy than Shang Chi's father. Both of them had intrusive thoughts. But let's contrast the two illusions: I. Wanda's children were created as a result of her reality-warping talents, and even though she was aware that they weren't real, she killed people anyway because she was playing crap. While Wenwu was on a mission to save his wife. II. Wenwu heard his wife pleading for freedom. Wanda wanted to go to that universe, kill the mother there, and kidnap her children even though she saw those kids getting along fine. Wenwu is attempting to save his wife in this instance as opposed to Wanda seeking to take possession of something that is obviously not hers. 4. Dr. Strange 2 did not even come close to meeting peoples' expectations, whereas Shang Chi did and even exceeded them. Dr. Strange 2 had a great deal of potential and initiated plot lines that would have served as the foundation for other mind-blowing projects, but it failed due to its poor storyline. In the end, all it had were a few moments that were exploited to entice comic book aficionados to the movies. 5. You also mentioned that Shang Chi's father posed no significant danger. However, let me remind you that sending Dr. Strange and Dr. Palmer to a different universe was the worst thing Wanda could do following the strain of trailing them across two universes that they made her endure. While Shang Chi's father murdered his son when the latter claimed his wife wouldn't want to be with a monster. Nevertheless, the white dragon later brought Shang Chi back to consciousness. 6. What is more ludicrous, I'm not sure. Is it the guy questioning the amount of continuity errors in Dr. Strange 2 or you trying to claim that Shang Chi has more plot holes merely because you were able to identify one? Even if I start pointing errors out one by one, this page won't be sufficient to address all that needs to be written on the topic. Since this is already a lengthy post, I'll just conclude it here. ![]() |
TopeQs: It's the way he said that folks who wait for the movie to start streaming before downloading it give opinions that aren't worth crap. As if this thread is not where all of our reviews end. If this were the IMBD or Rotten Tomatoes, they would have averaged all of our scores and shown it online for anybody to see when they search for the movie. However, that is not the case in this instance because this is Nairaland and the vast majority of people living overseas are unaware of our existence, so what precisely are we asserting here? Which sane person will look up Nairalanders' reviews of a film they intend to watch. Both those who watched it on their phones and those who went to the theaters will post reviews that will only take up space on this thread, so everyone should just rest. |
AnfieldFan:No kidding. Add Scott Adkins too, August is going to be fire. |
The Adam Project 2022 Brilliant actors were given a typical plot to execute, and they did a good job. I won't even bother to spend time analyzing the myriad plot holes; I just watched this one like a Marvel movie. Nevertheless, a good movie. BC. |
Calibrator:Even though I am certain that you are more intelligent than this, allow me to explain it to you slowly. Nobody has anything against talking about a movie you invested time and money on. You are free to write about it whenever you want, whether the day after you watch it or the moment you finished it. What I oppose is disclosing details about a film that you are aware that most people have not seen. You can conclude your criticism by pointing out aspects of the movie that you enjoyed and disliked without giving anything away. There is a mature way to do things. Even if you wish to drop a review that incorporates spoilers, you can do so by phrasing "spoilers ahead" at the top of your post, alerting readers who haven't watched the movie to skip it or continue reading if they welcome spoilers. In addition, what level of exhilaration would compel a sane person to reveal spoilers one after the other after watching a movie. |
I don't understand, so we that are waiting for it's release in August should stay away from the thread till then. What the actual fück? ![]() |
This, in my perception, is what's behind all the terrible feedback Thor 4 has been receiving. Personally, I don't like watching comedies or playful movies. That is why I gave Everything Everywhere All At Once a scathing comment and couldn't understand why the majority of people thought the movie was good. However, I still value their viewpoints. Taika's attempt to convey dumb fun with a character that people have grown to love and admire prevented him from receiving the same great accolades on a broad scale for Thor 4. I'm confident that the reviews would have been different and better if this had been a parody or satire film not associated with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Thor is a veritable deity whose prestige has been established through numerous MCU films. It is intolerable to reduce him to a simpleton for the sake of comedy, and people won't act like it is ok merely because you made them laugh. He ought to have remembered that the vast majority of moviegoers for this release are already fans of Thor rather than individuals who are only now learning about him. |
Smartb0y:Don't mind the fool. |
MJBOLT Luminouz This is not funny anymore. |
I just perused Marvel's list of multiversal threats, and from what I can tell, a character is deemed a multiversal threat if they have the means to travel to another universe and cause real damage there. According to that description, Wanda poses a multiversal threat, but only because of the power the darkhold has granted her. Based on what I can discern, most of these characters would not be able to hold their own against some of Earth's finest heroes. They are unique since it is extremely uncommon to be able to navigate the multiverse. |

abduleez1:It is not about lack of love for comic book movies. Comic book movies consistently rank among the highest grossing films because fans have demonstrated time and time again how much they enjoy them. The problem is that Hollywood is forcing its desire to become more progressive in our faces, and despite the fans' protests against this lunacy, none of them are prepared to listen. They have shown that they would rather lose millions of dollars than eliminate a few minutes of LGBTQ rubbish from their films. It is a known truth that there are many more conservative supporters than liberal ones. Tom Cruise is savouring significant amounts of money rather than whining that his film jumped the shark because conservatives wouldn't watch it. However, let's pretend that they are unaware that it is more beneficial to appease the broader audience. |
I nearly banged my head when I watched Thor: The Dark World again. I wouldn't have exaggerated Wanda's abilities the way I did if I had remembered specifics of what I had watched. Oh well, I suppose I'll soon learn to forgive myself. Malekith was using the reality stone itself to perform some major reality warping when Thor proceeded to stab him with a dagger, the peak of Wanda's powers can't do more than that. Wanda cannot defeat Thor or any other member of the Asgardian royal family with magic. Every second, those guys inhale and respire magic, there is really nothing Wanda could pull off that they haven't faced before. The truth of the matter is that we are still quite cognizant of Dr. Strange 2. You should watch Thor 2, Avengers 3, and Thor 3 again. You might find yourself doubting whether Wanda's exploits in Dr. Strange 2 were truly as extraordinary as you once believed. |
"Don't be a retirement plan for used up women," the red pill pleads, and prior to today, it seemed as if no one was paying attention, or so I thought. Today, I encountered something that rekindled my faith in men. I had never heard of a singles mixer where only ladies were present. In what was originally intended to be a matchmaking/dating arrangement, women came, sat down, and liaised with one another. Here's a quick rundown of what a singles mixer is for those who don't know. It is an event hosted by an organization in which single men and women meet to socialize, dine, and possibly mingle. For those who are unmarried and looking to settle down, a single mixer can be the foundation of something special. However, people are ignoring the reason why black men declined to attend a discreet gathering planned by black women. As a redpiller, I was ecstatic to learn how things panned out. Also, I want to mention a few things to those of you who might choose to participate in similar events in the future. First and foremost, I do not believe Nigerian men would have delivered a strong message in the same fashion that black American men did, and I applaud them for it. Owing to the fact that fresh red pill podcasts are released every day to educate men over there on intersexual dynamics, I'd presume a significant amount of them have taken the red pill. Now, who are the kind of women you'd encounter at a singles mixer or other similar gatherings? Women who want to get married, and when do they decide it's time to settle down? You already know. You can't afford to go to such ridiculous functions as a man who is no longer in the matrix, since you know what kind of women will be there and what they want. Such meetups are pitfalls for men who have created a reputation over time. If you must start a family, go out into the world and find a young woman who meets all of your requirements. Don't be the man who is persuaded by society to do ludicrous things, such as becoming a stepfather. As is customary, black women have jumped on the bandwagon to try to turn the conversation into a race issue, claiming that black men are no longer interested in marrying women of their own ethnicity. My sole desire is that Nigerian men adopt similar conduct, but I suppose there are still a lot of dimwits and men who believe they will meet saints when their religious institutions organize singles nights or get-togethers. SMH. |
