Goodness gracious! When did the Executive become so daring and lawless enough to attack the Judiciary in this dastardly manner? They have toyed with the Legislature and now it's time to address Buhari's headache a.k.a the Judiciary?

Is this the new era of intimidation and impunity sine goddamn arseholes consciously voted for in 2015? Is this the kind of gestapo governance they crave and desire? Where is democracy, separation of powers and simple, basic courtesy and respect for the rule of law?
How can they knock down gates to gain access to and arrest a serving judge? What else is left before the sham of a constitution we operate is suspended?

Very interesting.

The DSS will not move against these Judge's,if there are no proof of them collecting bribes.

These are Judges, and not ordinary Nigerians. So for the Security men to publicly move against them this way, would show they have gathered tangible evidences.

The Judiciary is the most protected Arm of any Government, and I hope to God the DSS are sure of what they are doing.

If these Judges have been compromised, then the National Judicial Council should not only Debar them, but they should be jailed for a long time for bringing the legal system to a disrepute.

I stand with the fight against corrupt Judges.

--Modified-

Just read that Governor Wike, after hearing these two Judges were getting picked up,personally drove to another Judge's house in Port-Harcourt and prevented the DSS from picking the Judge up.

-How did Wike know that Judge will be picked by the DSS?

-What made Wike know instinctively that the Government will be interested in that Judge?

-Why would a Governor race in his Pyjamas(heard they brought clothes for him to wear later) to prevent the DSS from picking the Judge,if he has nothing to fear?

Summary.

I think the Judiciary has a very corrupt cabal, that sells Judgement to the highest bidder, and the DSS just rounded all of them up this night.

If it is proven that Wike, just like others influenced this Judge's with bribes to retain the Governorship seat, then his matter will be revisited by the law.

And I think that is why he ran nearly naked,to the judge house to prevent the DSS from taking him away.

Shut up and stop the crap. Stop supporting uncivilized and dictatorial tendencies and actions all in the name of partisanship. You may cry a river later.

This fact can only be seen by true democrats and not tyrants in our system

Thank God no life was lost. The company should sack the driver asap for this.

I know of some transportation companies that pays their drivers based on the trip they make - the more trips they go, the more they earn, so these drivers will end up running themselves to exhaustion without even caring for their own safety or that of the passengers.

This could be one of those instances.

God is good motors is fast losing its credibility.

The drivers use mobile phones freely while driving and take offence when cautioned. I have had to complain severally to the monitoring team but nothing seem to have changed.

The last time I travelled, I was shocked when the driver attempted to keep a fuel-filled plastic can next to him to utilize in the course of the journey. I protested vehemently. He still did anyway though he didn't use the fuel till we arrived at the destination.

The company management needs to sit up as a matter of urgency.

I have read countless comments from the pdp and it's supporters about the decision by JP Morgan to remove Nigeria from it's bond index, the truth of the matter is that they had warned to remove is as far back as January 2015 for currency restrictions.

Was Buhari president in January?

NB. I am totally indifferent about currency restrictions or JP Morgan itself.

I heard tonyebarcanista or Barcanista mentioned this as Buhari's failure in his thread.

The point is lack of fiscal direction by the present government fast tracked the de-listing. JP morgan saw no point in waiting.

Read what the op said:

The scripture is vast and attimes we should also be careful in the way we interpret sensitive issues like this. The reason why i posted this here because MOGs influence their members directly or indirectly, spirutually and physically, and when sensitive issue like this arise as a servant of God that serves directly under that mog and that doesnt want to faulter in the Lords ways one has to dwell in the midst of counsels, the scripture says in the multitude of counsel their is safety."

THE NIGERIAN NATION AGAINST GENERAL BUHARI

By Wole  SOYINKA

This intervention has been provoked, not so much by the ambitions of General Buhari to return to power at the head of a democratic Nigeria, as by declarations of support from directions that leave one totally dumbfounded. It would appear that some, myself among them, had been overcomplacent about the magnitude of an ambition that seemed as preposterous as the late effort of General Ibrahim Babangida to aspire yet again to the honour of presiding over a society that truly seeks a democratic future.  What one had dismissed was a rash of illusions, brought about by other political improbabilities that surround us, however, is being given an air of plausibility by individuals and groupings to which one had earlier attributed a sense of relevance of historic actualities. Recently, I published an article in the media, invoking the possible recourse to psychiatric explanation for some of the incongruities in conduct within national leadership. Now, to tell the truth, I have begun to seriously address the issue of which section of society requires the services of a psychiatrist. The contest for a seizure of rationality is now so polarized that I am quite reconciled to the fact it could be those of us on this side, not the opposing school of thought that ought to declare ourselves candidates for a lunatic asylum. So be it. While that decision hangs in the balance however, the forum is open. Let both sides continue to address our cases to the electorate, but also prepare to submit ourselves for psychiatric examination.

chamboy: I trust GEJ He would never allow a governor especially from an opposition party like APC to personalise d buses

On a particular Sunday afternoon, i saw a convoy of buses arriving the lekki axis all with inscription 'federal assisted mass transit'. Out of curiosity, I drove after these buses. To my dismay, I discovered they were being driven to a yard where they get repainted to BRT colour, and decorated with advertising labels and plate nos. As new ones drove into the yard, completed ones drove out. A fenced vast piece of is used as parking lot. That's Lekki Lagos. Another one exist directly in front of Unilag MBA school, yaba, Lagos. You need to be on a storey building to see hundreds of these buses packed there.
Politics / Re: Lagos Unveils Alternative Road For Lekki-epe Toll Plaza by sparkle10(m): 3:41am On Dec 07, 2012
lagbaja: While I agree that Lagos state is making great strides in infrastructure development, I strongly believe that Lagosians are paying too much for the services. Let me analyze the LCCI lekki-epe rd. deal.

At the toll plaza, the average throughput for each toll point is 4 cars per minute which translates to 240 vehicles per hour. Each vehicle pays N100 on the average. There are about 16 toll point (going and coming) which are always in use from morning till night. Let us assume that the the tolls opens from 6am till 10pm at night I.e. a total of 14 hours of full operation.
Total annual collection = number of toll points * number of cars per hour * average toll fee per car* number of service hours in a day * number of days in the year= N1.96 billion (about $6.5m)

This toll fee is for a journey of about 15km. I.e from Ozumba rd. to the Lekki Admiralty toll gate. According to the world bank, average cost for a standard guage road upgrade is put t $250k per km ( http://www.worldbank.org/transport/roads/c&m_docs/kmcosts.pdf). 2 sides of the road were upgraded. Let us leave the upgrade quality story for another day. About 30km of road was upgraded. It's cost LCCI about $7.5m to fix that length of roads.

Assume the cost of funds is 10% per annum ( they have access to international development funds), and overhead cost is another 10%, total cost of the project is $9m. It means LCCI will break even in about 2 years, yet the road was concessioned for 30 years. By implication, they will be making back their money 15 times over.

That is too much a price to pay in a developing nation.

What you get when you have criminals in power! That's besides the great discomfort experienced on the road on daily basis despite Paying the tolls. Where are the street lights packaged as part of benefits of the road users? Are the poles erected for decoration or propaganda? Height of govt insensitivity and irresponsibility.

Looking at the picture from this angle, you prolly cant see the cuts and bruises on the bus.. Any Lagosian here can attest to the fact that you can barely find any one month old BRT bus that doesnt have scrathes, bangs and dents all over it.. The question that arises is that a bus that has a lane all to itself, how do they still manage to wreck it?

Another molue called BRT yet FRSC will not question the road worthiness of these buses.
