In Nigeria we have a misconception of education as book knowledge and especially degrees.

How much of that has gone into solving practical problems like how to make garri without sand, preserve yam for a long time or build roads that last?. We are still using that blue machine to grind pepper that was used in the 70s

In the UK almost everybody paints their houses by themselves but in Nigeria once you go to university you lose the ability to do anything practical .So our "education" is for passing exams and not solving social problems
