paulandpeter001: Good day everyone, I need your assistance. I have been nominated for NSE the second time. In my first application, I was nominated but I ask the to process my documents the normal way. The next day my application was rejected.
I decided to reapply after going through this group. This morning I have been nominated again.
Please I need help on how to tackle this challenge. The asked for mybank statement by first bank don't give it and my sponsor uses first bank
Also I have a sponsor (Uncle) and another sponsor(relative). Both were included in my sop with financial documents attached.
Pleas how do i solve this problem. Any advice will be deeply appreciated.
I also want to kno what the letter actually mean. I don't really understand it.
The first image is the one from 1st application while the second is for the 2nd application When you say you were rejected, do you mean you got a refusal email? Do you mean your application was declined immediately you informed them that you would rather your application went through the normal route? This is the first time I'm hearing this. |

Johnpaul94: @Spectro to be sincere eh!
I submitted my visa application 7th April 2021, went for biometrics 9th April 2021. I have been waiting for an email requesting for my medical result and i haven’t gotten it. I’m really tensed about it.
How long does it take to get a request for medicals after biometrics. Meanwhile, can a study visa be approved without medicals? I would like to know pls.
Thanks Don't be tensed. Today is 14th. Medical request takes a very long time to come (months possibly). You can do upfront medical. The hospital will play their part by sending your medical result to IRCC. Just send whatever document you receive during the medical to IRCC via email or webform. And then wait till they send you info concerning their final decision. Just play your part and be confident that everything will work out. |

Johnpaul94: @Frankrobbn1 and @lekiboboe
I do not know the both of you, but the way you take your time to attend to questions on this platform baffles me like you both are been paid for the job. Your answers are been broken down to the littlest understanding one could get. Both of you alone are made up of 10 Visa Officers each cos you best know how to tackle their questions.
I really appreciate your effort and I pray God in Heaven will reward you both for your selfless service.
Thanks alot It baffles me too. I'm nice, but I sometimes get somewhat impatient and irritated. When I see people who can be so tolerant and helpful, it confounds me. I guess they happen to be blessed with such rare nature. I believe they deserve all the kindness and goodwill that nairalanders can possibly give them. These two and few others like them deserve more than their oral gratitude. |

oyibo4real: Hmmm! I've been imagining how its gonna be the day I'll receive my PPR and the D-day has finally come, mine came with mixed feelings though, but am ELATED, that's all that matters now
I thank you all for celebrating with me, I don't want to quote you to avoid making the thread unnecessarily long, thank you, thank you, and thank you again. May it continually end in PRAISES for US ALL in JESUS MIGHTY NAME, AMEN!!!
Special Thanks to all those that still keep this thread alive, the likes of Lekiboboe, Frankrobin, Justmelow, Awys, and a host others, you guys are the real MVPs, God richly bless you in all your good endeavours, Amen!!!
Submitted on 24th January 2021 Biometrics done on 25th January 2021 Medicals on 1st week of February(cant remember the exact date shaa) Medicals passed on 7th February 2021 Eligibility started on 9th/10th February 2021
Submitted my Son's own on 27th January 2021 There was no need for biometric as he's just 7 years old We did medicals together and he passed his same date with mine.
I guess he was supposed to receive his PPR today too, but they sent a message requesting that I fill a study permit form in place of the visitor's form I submitted earlier. I was also asked to pay an additional fee of $50 to complete the $100 paid initially for visitor's visa.
If I start typing the docs I submitted, this post will be too long and some people might feel intimidated. All in all, just package your application well and leave no stone unturned, every application is unique so I advise you submit according to your situation but ensure to dot all your 'i's and cross your 't's.
MINE HAS ENDED IN PRAISE AND I WISH THE SAME TO ALL THE HOPEFULS IN JESUS MIGHTY NAME, AMEN!!! Congratulations! It has ended in praise. Thanks a lot for your contributions, advice, and encouragement on this platform. Nairaland remembers. |

Lekiboboe: In my own opinion, this can be looked at in different perspectives, but in a nutshell, I feel it depends on ones choice, present financial status & long term goals.
Someone who got Full Funding in the US for a GA (e.g MS Assistantship, PHD Assistantship) can finish & do a PHD in Canada (with 70-80% chances of it being funded) and still work towards the Canadian Citizenship goals.
In your own scenerio, since money no be problem (in Sarkordie's Voice) and Canada Citizenship is the goal, you can go for CANADA (with the 30% funding). It will be better if its a PHD cos many PHD students are potential/automatic graduate assistant to the Prof. they are working with, most esp. if it's an Economics graduate program that requires you to get a Supervisor (Professor).
Like I said initially, those 3-factors mentioned above can be a determinant to ones choice/decision on this.
Let me tell you a real life example
There is one Amazing Scholar on twitter who dish out anything scholarship and how to get one in different parts of the world, he goes by the handle @drolumuyiwa, he is presently a Post Doc at the Mycology/Microbiology Dept. Of UBC.
He did his Masters in Korea (KGSP Scholarship), did his PHD in Germany (I think via DAAD), now at UBC as a PostDoc, if am not mistaken, he is now a PR or on the verge of becoming a PR. You can notice he had international education in two different Continents (Asia & Europe), before coming to Canada (North America).
With wetin this Bros do, No be lie, Canada Citizenship package is fantabolous, las las that would likely be the end product of someone who go US go study.
My Conclusion, I will go for the US cos it will make me acquire Work Experience as a GA which is Post-secondary teaching and research assistants under NOC A, but schooling in Canada might not afford me to do a Job that can count as a work experience to gain points for Express Entry, most especially if it's not a NOC A, B job, as per say na part time job to pay bills Canada dey offer most international students and many of them no be NOC A,B jobs.
This your question is an interesting one, I go like see more contribution/inputs of other members on top this matter Thank you very much for your detailed explanation. It's indeed a very tricky situation to be in. |

Lekiboboe: That's serious
I would suggest you try the cold mail approach (i.e mailing a Professor whose research interests/areas aligns with yours, most especially research areas you have prior research experience in). If a Prof. accepts you after sending your cold mail to him, you are good to go, you can be sure if you pay application for this, your money is well spent, infact there are chances application fee can be waived for you.
The link I posted initially have information about COLD MAIL & how you can draft one.
See the link below, you would see other Universities offering Masters in Chemical Engineering in Canada https://www.universitystudy.ca/search-programs/?k=Chemical+Engineering&program_level_merged=Master%27s+degree&program_language=ENGLISH
Alternatively,
Try USA (as mentioned above by an honorable member), they have lot of Chemistry/Chemical Engineering Masters program that are Fully-funded, you can also get Graduate Assistantship, Teaching Assistantship etc. Infact with your CGPA, if you package your application well, you can get a direct PHD program with your BSC in the U.S, al
The Cold Mail approach is also very essential in getting Funding for USA
You can visit the USA Visa Thread on Nairaland for more enquiries and guides
You can AWAIT More inputs from the gurus & honorable members on this... Bro, what would you advise I do? I have been accepted for graduate program in Economics by two universities. One is giving me scholarship and GA, but it's in the US One is not providing me full-funding but it's in Canada (just 30% funding) I have no problem with paying tuition in Canada, but who doesn't like Awoof? Canada's citizenship package makes sense. If you had to choose with these conditions, which would you take? |

Just tired Try out another university that is suitable for you, but is likely to have lower competition for space. And try out another university that isn't any of those stated, and establish a rapport (occasional enquiries) with the person assigned to you by the admission committee to keep you informed about things they need you to submit... They don't reply. And that's not cool. I am sure you even paid application fee. Your cgpa isn't bad at all. And you said your last two years' grades from undergraduate study were decent. Could it be that you have been submitting applications to some of these highly ranked schools? There's usually competition for space in these schools. This is actually tricky for me, because I haven't had any experience in this area, and I don't know anyone who has. So this is just my suggestion, not a tried and tested option. Perhaps, he should submit his acquired statement of account along with all other documents, and then tell the bank to send his statement of account directly to the Canadian embassy in Nairobi, via email, immediately he gets his application number (Possibly after initial submission of application or biometrics). Like I said, I have no experience in this area, so this is just logic on my part. |

Thanks for the information again The first step is to look for a financial institution in Canada that provides student loans. You can do this by searching via the Internet. You may compare banks to see which one has the most favorable interest rate and repayment period. You may then send an email to these banks to ascertain how they go about providing loans to students. They will give you all the info you need. But note: One thing is accessing loan, another thing is writing a very convincing SOP. So, you have a lot of things to think about. |

So he can save d 75k( hope its still 75k). And again he plans to use bank statements and treasury bill certificate that should mature in 6 months time (which can be broken anytime once the visa is approved). In this case, how does the MBS work for him? If his level of English proficiency will not be an advantage, he won't be able to apply through the NSE route. And I don't think he should send the English proficiency doc to them. The normal route is the only option he has. He can generate MBS online if he uses GT bank, by accessing GT world app. He can also go to the bank, if he uses GT bank or any other bank, with a letter stating that he needs the MBS ticket for his account and wishes to send his doc to Canada embassy. |

For newbies who wish to apply, please take note of the following
1. Canada needs your money (international tuition payment), but they also want to be sure that you are not going to be a liability to them.
2. The Canadian government does not want a situation whereby you claim to want to travel for study purpose, and all of a sudden you work instead of going to school in Canada. (Hence, The Purpose of Visit Question)
3. The Canadian government knows that a lot of students will later apply for work permit after graduation at a Canadian school, but they still want you to prove that you will be coming back to Nigeria. Hence, you must show home-tie. Home-tie means tie to your country, Nigeria.
4. Before submitting your application, go through your documents over and over again.
5. Make sure your statement of purpose is elaborate, clear, and informative. It is a very vital document.
6. You must have at least 10,000 CAD available for your living expenses, after other vital fees/expenditures have been deducted (books, tuition, transportation to Canada, etc.,) |

Now, in terms of visa processing time, this thing is grace.
For some people, it takes less than two months, and for some people, it takes 7 months.
It's not clear why.
But some possible reasons include
1. The complexity of your application Visa officers may need to verify your documents if they need conviction. Verification may take a while because several factors may be involved.
2. Backlog
3. The VO probably put your documents aside because your submitted documents weren't smooth-sailing, and thought to come back to them later. |

I am not overly fond of replying emails, so I will put it out here for everyone to see.
For those who want to access/secure student loans, please take note of these few points.
1. I don't know any local financial institutions that provide student loans... It doesn't seem like it's Nigeria's style.
2. Foreign banks that provide student loans are divided into two types a. Those who require cosignors (i.e. guarantors) and therefore collaterals b. Those who require evidence of superb academic transcript (e.g. Mpower)
Option 'a' has a lower interest rate, but your cosignors must reside in Canada
Option 'b' has a higher interest rate, but no cosignor is required.
Option 'a' is not very common because most people are not ready to take the risk of being cosignors.
Option 'b' is rare because the interest rate is high, and not many students are chosen based on less satisfactory academic records. |

tumababa: Apart from ielts, can undergraduate diploma student apply through NSE? Anyone can apply through the NSE route as long as he/she is a Nigerian and presently lives in Nigeria. Of course, an NSE invitation notification may be sent to an applicant. However, to qualify for the NSE route, you must provide 1. IELTS result 2. MBS You can't use any short-cut. There is no other way around it, even if you studied BA English. If you don't have both of these documents, your application will be processed normally. |

Anon123: I stand with my reply but again, its left for people to make their own decision...
Where is it written that a loan is a hometie?
How does your sop help justify why you took up a loan to cover study expenses plus living expenses?
You have not convinced me rather you are telling me so many people has done it and it worked.
Who are those people? I want to talk to them.
People will millions in their own account have been denied visa here on this thread but you want to tell me that another person with a loan/debts on his shoulders will be granted an approval. Debts that a visa officer will see and still let you into his country to work to stupor to survive in canada and pay back a loan..
omo.. For those that will follow this GOODLUCK! Okay, let me clarify some things to you, because it is clear you don't have experience in the area of loans for academic studies abroad. But I know people who do. A person may have 100 million Naira in their account, but there are various reasons a VO may refuse a person's visa request. A bank statement communicates a great deal of things. 100 million Naira doesn't always mean availability of funds. If a VO sniffs even the slightest of falsehood, it raises suspicions. Now, a course mate of mind got his study visa with bank loan. He got loan to foot in first semester tuition, and he covered the rest. He had ample fund for the rest. He wasn't refused. The point I am trying to make here is that there's so much that goes into visa processing that many people do not know. A person who seems to have a perfect visa application may be refused for reasons best known to VOs. And a person who seems to have a less perfect visa application may get the acceptance. However, one thing is certain. People can get student visa via student loan if done right. SecondlyLenders do not give you loans before the visa is approved... They do so after the visa is approved. Therefore, even if people are refused visa, it doesn't make them indebted to the lenders. The loan arrangement can be canceled. However, what happens most cases is that they provide borrowers with loan documents that they can present to VOs for student visa application. If international students weren't taking loans, organizations like Mpower will not exist. They certainly will not excel to this day. A lot of Indians do it too. Paying backStudent loans arrangements are different from regular loans. In most cases, students only pay a small amount of interest monthly until several months after graduation. These things have been done in such a way that it doesn't result in students slaving for hours even as they study in school. I understand this is not something you have experience with. |

Anon123: I doubt the bolded...
One of the many angles Visa officers process applications is based on your financial strength to cater for your tuition and living expenses. A visa officer citing that an applicant acquired a loan to pusure a study in canada is a VERY BIG RED FLAG. One of the many denial reasons are Financial reasons and Purpose of visit.
I also dont believe a loan can serve as a hometie. A loan is enough to show the visa officer you are not financially bouyant enough to undertake this canada study journey(financial reasons) therefore no reason to why you wish to undertake such expense to come to Canada (Purpose of visit).
Besides to pay back a loan while in canada is enough to deny you. How can you be struggling to meet your needs in canada and also meeting up with financial obligations to payback a loan. And please, next time you put forward a view, back it up with proof. As this amounts to misinformation. |

If people have been able to access loans and got visa approval, then I don't see why another person cannot. What's most important is having the money for living expense and letting loans take care of tuition and other academic-related expenses. It will end in praise.

Are there other supporting documents i will need to submit to convince the VO that i will and can pay?
If you dont mind, i sent you an email. Pls Thank u I already replied you. Accessing loans shows commitment and serves as a home-tie since it is mandatory to pay back. It is actually a plus when it comes to processing visa. The only downside is having to pay back much more than you accessed... But well, that is the nature of business and lenders must gain. Attach your loan document(s) and show a clear career path to demonstrate your potential ability to pay back the loan over time. It will end in praise. |
