Why don't we boycott the service stations in Nigeria instead of trying to boycott British Airways?

Why am I not surprised?

Suffering and smiling Nigerians who can only fight for "rights" they do not have in Nigeria on foreign soil.

When OBJ was Minister of and Minister for Petroleum for donkey years, how do we expect records?

Go and carry placard against all the "Mugabes" who have refused to leave offices in Africa first and see if you an "prick" the Black man's conscience or lack thereof.

Yet you keep worshipping them. When ken Saro Wiwa, Dele Giwa, Abiola and Fela were killed like guinea pigs, did you carry placards?

Marlboro1:
Now we are talking! Anyone that understands that our current problems as a nation can be laid at the footsteps of the "Not-So-Great Britain" knows what he is talking about. They created the culture of corruption in this country and in a lot of other countries that they colonized. But I agree with you my brother; we have to figure out a way to fix our problems on our own. But how then do you do that when corruption fighters who try to do the right thing get sent off to NIPSS, Kuru for a year - just to silence them. And our "Servant Leader" is yet to really get back on track with his new anti-corruption czar in bringing new people to real serious justice. We can really start to develop as a nation as soon as our government officials realize that there are serious consequences for criminal misconducts as we see in US, China, The Koreas and in most of Europe.
Amen to that!

i expect to get it regardless of what my background may be!
Instead of being a consumer of services, you should start thinking of being a provider of services.  Your humuliatons around the world will be minimized. As you can see, this "big" man with "servants" mentality is not getting us anywhere.

When a citizen pays tax to the nigerian government what does the nigerian government dohuh They spend 16 billion dollars on electricity and there is still no light. Why don't nigerians petition that or are u believing in all this fake probe panel stuff? why don't you petition that after all some nigerians do pay tax. And electricity is just one of many social amenities that the government can't work out even tax payers pay.

Point is if you can't figure with your government why and how  do u want to figure with an outsiderhuh
Thank you for staying so focused. "The Chicken Has Come Home To Roast Roost"!

PoliticsRe: Obama Vs Rev.wright by Spermdrops(m): 12:31am On May 08, 2008
Because white people do not have anything better to say about Obama.  This is the best they can do. Always feel threatened when anything with any shade of black shows a promising future.  They are never happy.

I would have denouced the pastor a long time ago. I think he is too much of a "dramatist" to instill any spirituality in me. I can't stand dramatic pastors that shout and jump all over the place. Better still, I don't think pastors should discuss politics. They ought to stick to the "religous" angle of things. Frankly that Pastor Wright is a buffoon. A disgrace to the so-called black churches he claims to represent.

I can never link him to Barrack Obama. They have absolutely nothing in common. I am sure he did not attend that church for over 20 years because of the pastor.  A church is a communual affair not a pastoral affair. He probably stayed on because he had lots of friends and family in the church not because of the pastor.

I hate the British with a passion.  But if only we could take care of ourselves better in Nigeria, we will not be going through all this.

Do not ask for what you do not have in your own country.  It would make you look foolish to the rest of the world. That is my point.

The British will always have the upper hand over Nigeria because the gave birth to Nigeria and Nigeria never gained full independence.

Never will.

I travelled with Delta Airlines a few months ago and was stuck over night in one African country for instrumentation failure.  Let me tell you, they treated us like human beings.  Gave every man, woman, and child a $200 compensation fee with an apology letter before we left the plane. Free overnight stay in a hotel, free dinner and free breakfast till we departed the next day to our destination.  Mostly Nigerians on that flight.  You did not hear a single noise of unruliness.  Everyone was calm. I was so proud of Nigerians.

I have also travelled with a deportee on board an aircraft and when the deportee started his mess, he was escorted out of the plane immediately.

So all we can do is make noise here.  You cannot try that on an American Airline.  Nigerians in different parts of the world have different "orientation" I guess.

angel101:
@ spermdrops
here is evidence of BA maltreating nigerians!!!
Okay, fine.  Then take up your complaint with the appropraite authorities.  I think it is about time we learned something about customer service. As Nigerians, what stopped all the passangers aboard all the "maltreatment" flights from coming together as a union with proper documentation and forward to the Nigerian Laison office in the UK?  Oh I forgot, much of those exist in name only. Why can't this be handled in an orderly fashion diplomatically? Because we always do things the "Nigerian" way with no meaningful results.

What do we have a foreign affairs ministry for?  Instead of making noise, letters as far back as 20 years ago documenting "maltreatment" should have been tendered.  When dealing with these white people, documentation is everything.  Why disrupt an internationally bound flight?

How can you complain of maltreatment and you have no concrete documentation to show for it.  Why did your brother not write a letter to his consulate in Britain.

I hate to tell you this.  Many places in Nigeria do not have water to drink so I do not see that as maltreatment. As we speak, I am sure your village and my village have no "water"!
PoliticsRe: British Airways Regrets Maltreatment Of Nigerians by Spermdrops(m): 10:19pm On May 07, 2008
It is easier to prove that OBJ used 16billion Naira for electricity than a "single case of maltreatment" against Nigerians by foreign airlines. I personally do not care for them as a "people".  I despise them. You have the right to feel the way you do about the "Great British Empire".  All I want you to explain to me like Kobojunkie has been asking you guys here is how you were maltreated.   In all the cases cited every where on Nairaland and all other websites, I don't buy them.  I commend the British for even putting up with Nigerians.  But of course they have to.  The keep majority of Nigerian's stolen wealth.

In this case, I respect their laws and anyone that interferes with them should be dealth with.  How can a deportee be resisting being flown home to his own country?  If he had sat down quietly and escaped at MMA airport, no one would have noticed.  he knew he was on a Nigerian bound flight with a bunch of Nigerians foolish enough to fall for his antics.  Guess what?  What you get is a life time ban from flying British Airways for being disruptive.

Supported!

I hope "deportees" will not be flown with any other kinds of passagers from now on.  People like Mr. Ayo Omotade will not feel the need to be a "good samaritan" busy body.

If I behaved that way, I hope I am dealt with too.

Virgin Nigeria is owned by Nigeria.

51% owned by Nigeria and 49% owned by Virgin.

Virgin is responsible for the day to day management of the airline, the Virgin brand is very successful, experienced and well recognised hence the huge percentage. Over time perhaps after their initial contract Virgin will sell more shares to Nigeria.

Therefore Nigerian national airline is VIRGIN NIGERIA.
See logic in action. It looks like this your "virgin" Nigeria is an "half-caste"! grin I wonder what will happen if it were 100% red-blooded Nigerian.

100% ownership will be more befitting. Not half and half.  We know how the other "Virgin" Airline ended up.

You are really trying for Nigerians. Too bad. A prophet is without honor in his own country.

Please fellow Nigerians, let us go to the hispanics world wide and plead with them to teach us how to carry out an effective "boycott".  I don't think the other Africans are even listening to us. tongue  We can't even stage a successful boycott? cry

It has been like 6 weeks now and the "maltreatment" continues despite the "mega million" marches of Nigerians on the WWW via fake petition signing. cheesy

I just came back from Nigeria and not a sound about this so-called boycott oh.  Infact the British Airways terminal at MMA was buzzing with serious activities as Nigerians struggled to get on board to be "maltreated" even further. See people begging for economy tickets since the First/Busines are all sold out.

Go figure!

why was the dude making commotion on the plane  even deported?
The dude was causing the commotion because he hated being deported to the land of his birth which could end up being the land of his "death" cheesy  I would have shot myself before being deported.

Good questions you raised here.

As for the 16 billion Naira electricity project, I think we have written that off as a "bad debt".  Only God can give the punishment such wickedness deserves.

Since when did British Airways have their headquaters in Alhaji Marsha, Suru-Lere? shocked  A Nigerian spokesperson for British Airways based in Nigeria?  What kind of a 419 topic is this?  Interesting that the so-called spokes man Mr. Ademola Adedoyin is from Mr. Ayo Omotola's village. grin  Lie lie peeps!  Abi na Amala state all these people come from? tongue  What a bunch of busy bodies.  Please where are the real white oyinbo Brits? Let them come and tell us what really happened instead of listening to all these amebos here.

It looks like only Nigerians are doing the "defending" and the "regretting"  If this topic was important to the British, I am sure Willie Walsh will be on global TV replying all these noise.  However the banned culprit remains "banned" for life.  If they revoke the ban, they would have to re-instate Naomi Campbell too.

Let us see if the British will go back on their word and unban  the "busy bodies" in this whole saga.

What a misleading title.  British Airways regrets? You wish!

Dream on pals.  No boycott yet? tongue

“Offloading passengers is not a decision that is taken lightly and is a rare occurrence. However, the disturbance on board the BA75 service to Lagos on Thursday, March 27, was a very serious incident, which required the presence of 20 uniformed police officers to regain control of the situation.”
If I were to choose those to believe in this situation, I will never believe a bunch of Nigerians when I know that they tell too many lies and misrepresent the facts to their advantage.  I say I have flown with Nigerians and as a Nigerian myself, I know what I can do do. cheesy  Who are you people trying to deceive?  Please go and march in Nigeria there where nobody will see or hear from you guys.  Good job British Airways, keep banning them for life!  Glad to know that British Airways has not made a sound in this case or the ones people are claming to have happened in the past.

Or did British Airways just currently employ a Nigerian based Brit to placate Nigerian as a "spokesman"? tongue

Where is the evidence of maltreatment I say?  Stop telling lies.

Good job Kobojunkie.  I say good job! kiss  You are really trying for Nigeria.  I really appreciate your efforts.  Like you see, It is an uphill task.  I realy wish you were the president of Nigeria, I would move back in a jiffy.  But no hope I see. grin Even moderator job, they would not let you have in peace. cheesy  I will always respect you on this website.  You do not see black and call it white, unlike these ones here.

Nigerians Marrying Nigerians Raised In The Us
« on: Today at 03:13:59 AM »

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How do people feel about a Nigerian who has practically lived here all of their lives dating/marrying a Nigerian new to American culture? Practically dating an American? That is the situation I am in now. I have lived in the US since I was 2.We are getting married next year and although my parents raised me well (cooking, morals, etc.) I know that this can be one of the hardest things to deal with culturally, a lot is viewed differently by both of us, It took us 3 years to overcome those and I think it will be interesting to hear what others think and feel. Thanks!!!!!!!
Ask your black American sisters to give you first hand experiences! kiss  Since you have lived in the US since age 2, you are a black American.

As for marrying a Nigerian, the experiences are out there for you to see.  Goodluck with your marriage!

This guy tried to con me about 20 years. ago. He had hundreds, if not thousands, of books piled up to the ceiling all over his DC rowhome (probably the same books JingleBulls saw now). I remembered him when I saw the news story because I had never met anyone else who talks about themselves in the third person - Aina will make you rich; Aina has read every one of these books (even though the books were in English and he could hardly speak or read English back then). There was a news story on TV about him back then about a month after I met him. DC told him to stop taking people's money. Channel 4 should check their archives. I'm surprised DC doesn't file charges against him if he's still doing it. I'm glad I didn't give him any money.

I admit he sounds quite questionable but he's already been tried and convicted in the court of public opinion because he happens to be Nigeria. Jesse, myopia/ignorance like you and several others on this blog have exhibited is precisely the sort of thing Americans rail against when they hear that they are widely perceived by the rest of the world to be arrogant bullies who like to tell everyone else how to run their affairs. Having had the priviledge to live and work in America (legally) for the past 6 years I know you guys do not speak for most Americans. I’m writing particularly in response to Jesse (United States) who stated that “nothing good comes out of Nigeria”. Quite frankly, such myopic statements really disgust me. I FYI, there are a lot of successful Nigerians with a global footprint. For example, the current Managing Director of the World Bank – Ms Okonjo-Iweala is a Nigerian so also is Dr. Phillip Emegwali who pretty much ‘fathered’ the internet. I could go on and on with more examples but I am sure you get the point.
After all, not a day goes by that I do not hear some horrible news about either an American parent taking their own kids lives or an American child shooting up dozens in schools. Is that to say that nothing good comes out of the United States? So please let’s refrain from making ill-stated judgments about an entire country based solely on the inappropriate acts of a single individual.
And yes, I am a VERY PROUD NIGERIAN

I could go on and on with more examples but I am sure you get the point.
After all, not a day goes by that I do not hear some horrible news about either an American parent taking their own kids lives or an American child shooting up dozens in schools. Is that to say that nothing good comes out of the United States? So please let’s refrain from making ill-stated judgments about an entire country based solely on the inappropriate acts of a single individual.
And yes, I am a VERY PROUD NIGERIAN

Sorry to burst your disgusted bubble, but scam artists are usually good at their game, til they get caught. That doesn't make them stupid, it just makes them careless, one slip, and that's it, one lie too many and they've hit rock bottom.

This dude avoids paying taxes by taking a few classes a year, which places him in a student tax filing category. I didn't even think of that

His business card says he is a foreclosure specialist! OMG, I feel sorry for anyone who he attempted to help. How in the world can you get a notice to quit and vacate back in Oct. of 2007 and not expect to find you belongings on the street. He's just lucky he didn't end up with his thing out on the snow cover streets.
If he really had a 30,000 acres of emerald mines he would have been able to pay his mortgage. If he had a $8 million home in McLean he should have been working on getting the people out back in Oct when he received his eviction notice. He had seven months to move out without all this embarrassment what was the problem?

When I first saw this story, I laughed. I don't normally laugh at peoples misfortune but this guy is really off his rocker. I wouldn't be surprised if he was behind some of those scamming e-mail that I get in the yahoo mail.

SHHHH, don't tell anyone, but he's been trying to refinance his home since last summer. He can't produce docs to fulfill the income requirement.

He then tried to purchase a home (this is where I met him) to flip and make profit to pay his bills, but it didn't work out either. Again, the problem with documentation. This is what he's been doing since October, trying to purchase home to flip them, but nothing has come his way. I gave up as soon as I smelled SCAM! I saw his supposed Mclean house, it's empty! he was trying to purchase it, but no deal.

Good to be home! God bless America!  Nigerian trip was the usual rubbish.  Glad to be on some clean roads again.  Now what do we have here?

http://www.nbc4.com/news/16166924/detail.html

WASHINGTON -- The owner of a multimillion-dollar home on Foxhall Road in northwest D.C. was evicted on Monday.

The homeowner, Oladipo Aina, is a Nigerian-born CEO of a company called "The Potentional Millionaires Investment Club International." His business card says he is a foreclosure specialist.

Workers emptied the contents of the five-bedroom, 5,000-square foot home onto the sidewalk Monday.

Federal marshals looked on as two Rolls Royces were towed from the driveway.

"I am not afraid," Aina said.

Bank records show Aina and his associates in October were served with a 30-day notice to quit and vacate because another owner had purchased the home in a foreclosure sale.

"They are lying," Aina said.

Chairs, furniture and bags of personal effects took up nearly half a city block, causing people who live in the neighborhood to stop and stare.

"It's pretty crazy, actually," said neighbor Marissa Rauch. "It shows you it can happen anywhere."

"We never see anything like this," said neighbor Patti Harburger. "But people are always curious about that house because the blinds are always down. We never see people going in and out."

Aina has 24 hours to move his possessions. He said he's been railroaded.

"I have 30,000 acres of emerald mines worth billions," he said. He said the mines are located in Zambia.

Aina said he will move into an $8 million home in McLean as soon as he can get the people living there to move out.

angel101:
it was at this point that mr omotade got up and spoke to the police officers asking them if it was necessary to use such excessive force on the guy which he feared was endangering his (deportee's) life and distressing the children around, but the police asked him not to worry saying that the deportee was a criminal.
I thought other sources stated he did not get up but stayed quietly in his sit and protested in some kind of "choir master's" voice?  Many Nigerians go about disgracing themselves and expect to be rewarded with royal treatment even when they are so uncouth and do not have their own airlines.

Like it is today you started maltreating yourselves.  It is almost 2 months since this Omotade story broke and we have not yet seen "a zillion" man/woman marches all over Africa in protest. Hispanics are doing better in the US by forming solid groups around the world to protest their causes even where some 14 million illegals are still present in the US.  The US cannot even deport them.  You guys are here making empty threats of boycott and noises while the rest of Africa watches you with amazement.

No shame at all.  What a bunch of noise makers!  Go and get your own airlines and stop making trouble all over the place.

Niyoo, good man, it just so happens that I quite enjoy hearing colorful and imaginative insults, so I would be most grateful if you would kindly just go ahead and let fly with a few NOW so as to display your creativity in that uniquely Nigerian mode of communication which has earned so many folks free room and board at Her Majesty's pleasure.

Fortunately for you there is no penalty for displaying this talent here on the internet, though obviously if you prefer to conduct your insult program against more worthy adversaries, then by all means wait till you are on your next flight to the UK before launching into a tirade, so as to definitively learn just how promptly you get 'cuffed and relocated to the Hounslow West police station after the aircraft lands.

As for selling birth-rights, I must confess that I may indeed have already sold mine years ago, although I can't be certain on this since I would not recognize a birth-right even if I was hit over the head with one
