i started with Enid Blyton series at the age of 6, my mum used to encourage me. i became outstanding in English language and even won awards. everyone was happy till i started replacing meals, break- time and sleep with storybooks. the worst was when i started reading Chase books from the age of 12 ( the ones with the near-nude paperbacks). had to do a lot of tearing and cellotaping and apologizing to my novel-lending friends for the "accident". tried M & B once or twice, but didnt like it, so i stopped. started wearing glasses from the age of 14, thanx to sunset reading and with candles and weak flashlights.funny enough, i don't regret any of it. i once bumped into a moving car, thanx to "one midsummer morning by James H Chase. My mum thereafter banned novels and made my brother a spy. had to bribe him with food and good behaviour before he allowed me read them. my dad wa my ally tho. he ordered me to finish the Chase novels, bought 5-in-1 novels for me and used to bring them to the hostel behind my mum's back, in sec schl. i sure had different "bibles" with various covers in church every Sunday and always had my head stuck, reading the chapters of the "bible". well, it did more good than harm to me. now im a working class lady, i read e-novels and have received a number of voice memos for it, but hey, nothing can separate me from my Chase, Ludlum, King, Clancy, Puzo, Grisham, Steele, etc etc. is this polygamy or wot? |
well, my sista, a quick one. has he EVER tasted your food before? if yes, wot did he say about it? there lies your answer if NO, then i guess he needs time, so give him some space. i know it hurts, but u dont need to take it personal, just give him some space |
meen, i remember being in 3 accidents first was in '96, when i was 11. we (my brother of 12 yrs, 2 aunties and the driver) were on our way to challenge, ibadan to visit our cousine. Near oluyole estate, the driver dozed off and we found urselves in the gutter. while people were happy noone was injured, i was busy crying cos i couldnt find the new Christmas dress i was admiring a few minutes earlier. there were dry leaves and refuse in the gutter, and a woman had just gone inside to get a box of matches and kerosine to burn the refuse, right before we fell in the gutter, talk about miracles. second , i experienced in 2001, when in front of KwaraPoly, Ilorin, there was an accident a few metres in front of me, involvong a peugeot and a mini- bus just coming in from Jebba. when i got to the scene, like 25 seconds later, it was a sight for sore eyes, there was so much blood ont he floor, i thot it was palm- oil. i remember a boy scrambling out of the bus and running aimlessly, boy was he disoriented. they had to get an axe to free the peugeot driver from the car as the left chassis had smashed his leg in. i was ill and sober throughout that day third, i was on my way to Lag from Abeokuta in a 2-month old Hyundai Sonata , after an official training session, unknown to us, the driver was busy "sampled shots" of Abeokuta "ogun jedi". The idiot made sure he entered all the pot- holes till we got to the Abeokuta- Sagamu roundabout, and wham! we found ourselves in the middle of the round-about, with two burst front tyres, a slashed tyre rim and a bashed in under-body. till today, the car is yet to recover fully but we all survived. 4th accident involved my boss, her hubby, elber bro and the driver on the way to ilorin, the car got bashed by a luxurious (ifesinachi to be precise), coming at top speed on the wrong lane. saving grace was that they al wore seat- belts, all 4 of them and this is what the car looked like after. Ifesinachi paid the sum of N3m for a new car.

this thread is basically for appreciating your gender/sex. for me, i love being a female for the following reasons: getting away with a number of things like: impulse buying , shoes, bags, aso ebi, etc. ability to whine endlessly till i achieve my aim, which happens 95% of the time crying when im happy, sad, sorry, scared, win a lottery, or just for the fun of it, have a load of excuses for not coming to work, dysmenorrhea, lower abdominal cramps, doctor's appointment, bed rest, irritation ( various types) the joy of birth and being pampered gaining inches in height, at any time, without a blink, etc |
wow eastern, u realli shoud write a book on online stocks and how nigerian can tap into it. im trying to follow, but i guess u r going at the speed of light. i'll keep following it, tho |
whether we like it or not, religion is a major issue. it is the most sensitive issue, followed closely by race and then gender. as for me, i wont even go into a r/ship like that in the first place, some religions just dont click, even though we all profess to worshipping the same God. imagine if i, a christian, were to marry a buddhist or hari krishna, and i love the guy but dont want to join his religion, much as i hate to admit it, i wouldnt like it if my kids were to prefer their dad's religion or worse, incline towards atheism, lailai, i no go gree ooo. |
@ oluomok, that was a fantastic poem Don't commit when you are not ready. that part really touched me. as for the issue at hand, poster's friend shoul dknow her guy better than that, and i bliv there are more issues surrounding it than the poster is letting on, and it sure sounds like he's been under undue pressure (maybe from his mum or even the poster, who knows) two wrongs dont make a right, and it takes one to make things go right, since ur bobo is tactless, u got to be more tactful. , chikena, end of discussion |
how come noone is talking about Cactus or Chocolat Royal, both in Victoria Island? |
pls tell me more, im mega- interested, and is it negotiable? |
for me its GTBank all the way, in terms of customer service. its the only bank i've seen so far in naija that allows you take calls in the banking hall, without having to feel you r trying to rob the bank. in terms of wowority, its either Skye Bank or sterling Bank. for me, i vote for GeeTee, anytime |
