fiscalcliff: Staying near the campus is definitely a plus though some universities run free bus services which also would be of help
I get the housing part but enlighten moi (and by extension others) how the UK system works
I recall a thread on the UK where peoples lamented on many things, one of which was heating costs which spiked because the cold winter https://www.nairaland.com/1246083/god-forsaken-country-called-britain
So do you pay a steady electricity rate all year throughhuh

My budget is about £450-500 a month (small trips inclusive although spending could go north of this figure depending on the attraction cheesy)
Even though I'm coming to Britain to study, its a chance to do, see and be to/in places one has read about over the years
And also, say I get money for hand no mean say make oyinbo maga me to help spend am grin
Thanks for the clothing from Naija tip as I await the insights of others
Forget about heating costs, the apartments am talking about are all inclusive. Heating, gas, internet etc.
They're all easy to find. Just throw away the TV when you find one grin

450-500 is very very Good. But might not be enough if you're too outgoing. Clubbing is very expensive in the UK.
I never said don't club, but try to learn the system and how to manage your money first before you start clubbing.
Lets say 3 to 5 months after your entry.

Also, within the first few months, try to get monthly call plans that are much more beneficial to international calls.
Those first few months are the time you'll make so much international calls to home cool

400 quid a month on housing, bills and food shocked
Mehn, spill on how you run things over in the UK cos it sounds incredulous shocked
Also could those post answer the second segment of my initial post (reproduced below) so as to aid those who may have similar questions
Thanks
If you live near the school campus, you definitely won't need transportation, except of course sparingly

You can get accomodation 65 to 70 a week (lets use 70)
You can live very comfortably on 30 a week for feeding

Now do the math wink

Buy your cloths from Nigeria, we have more quality all-whether cloths than them.
Unless you wanna change wardrobes every season.

fiscalcliff: Hello UKBA gurus on this thread
My program lasts for 15 months (though there's a 3 month break embedded in those months)
My questions are how much need I show for my living expenses out of the London areahuh
£7200 (9 months), £9600(12months) or £12000(15 months) undecided
Also I'm leaning towards paying up ALL my tuition before applying
I believe this is a good move,or am I mistaken?
Thanks
7200

if you have the fund, you can pay in full....it doesn't matter

mayo47: The school is ok, had few friends that studied that course last time i checked they havent gotten anything. Think they all back in 9ij, but doesnt mean u case cant be different. The school is ok in terms of academics, know the department is good, should be ready 4 serious work. Its more of a white people environment unlike london, 45 mins from london by train.Dont really get what u mean by activities but in general could be boring at times (just my opinion). Hmmmm from ipswich,it shouldnt be up to an hour.U'll definitely need a monthly rail card and annual bus pass (this is very cheap f because they offer great disount for students)to cut cost. Without them u might be spending about £10 daily just on transportation.
Na wa ooo shocked

From ipswich by google, 21 mins with private car, 1hr 41mins with public transport...
though my brother told me it's shorter.

Thanks for the info though, na the job part wey dey fear me o embarassed

Djtm: Nice piece! I remember last year when I went to spend some time with my uncle. He wouldn't allow me to use my laptop if there's no electricity. Light goes, you shut down. And he 'drags' me in by 2:30am when I was just getting started. I was pissed but I knew it was for my own good. Advantages of medical personnel.
hahahah grin
Just getting started by 2:30am cheesy
WebmastersRe: Have You Ever Experience This?? by spikesC(m): 1:34pm On Aug 03, 2013
WebmastersPersonal Health Tips For Programmers And People Who Work On Computers by spikesC(op):
From personal experience...

1. Always take short breaks during development.

2. Always put on your surround/room lights.
Direct rays from the screen would hurt your eyes more, especially from a laptop cos you're very close.

3. If possible, connect your laptop to a wider screen (your TV or Larger monitor).
You can get a TV cable, HDMI cable or projector cable very very cheap.

4. Reduce the brightness of your computer, please, and/or get a screen cover.(Sun glasses won't work)

5. Ergonomic chairs or not, always change sitting/lying positions when coding (thanks to freelancing).

6. Try to limit your night working hours. I keep mine at 3am, after that, i wrap up and get some sleep.

7. If you must work very late and long hours, compensate your health with more sleep during the day.
Therefore, always plan ahead, work late when you're sure you won't be disturbed the next day.

Tip: You'll be more productive without affecting your health if you sleep early, wake in the middle of the night, and work till morning.

Remember: Night for day, day for night. You can't eat your kwuli kwuli and have it back undecided

#happyCoding
