otil1: What I will not do is to compare worse to bad and then reach a conclusion that bad is good.

I've explained my position: that a 16iyear old is old enough to say I want indomie and not ogi.

We've had 16 about of uninterrupted democracy. Chime's performance is far from what can be called "good" and as a benchmark for next administration.

Comparing him with Chimaroke is Shere mischief and a cheap way to continue to wallow in self-deceit that a duly elected governor of Enugu State Nigeria ended 8years as Mayor of Enugu city.

Chimaroke clearly had his shortcomings. He also operated in a time capsule, inheriting the mess created by the military junta of that era. So let it be there.

because going there will open worse issues, like Chime inherited a better system of mgt. And should have done better. Plus budgetary allocation bigger today than then.

Chime's performance is making Chima look good despite the many shortcomings

Criminal | Define Criminal at Dictionary.com
criminal (ˈkrɪmɪn ə l) —n: 1. a person charged with and convicted of crime
they asked me not to go to unverifiable facts but he's quick to label him a criminal

let him keep living in self denial. As he is the only one who asks for proof of chimaroke's development, i would not bother to oblidge him

Evergreen123: But u agree with me the criminal performed better than ur saint in the area of education or was that not u asked?

Crime was on the loose in all parts of nigeria pre-2010 times spanning from lagos to Calabar, Enugu wasnt an exception.
The criminal milked the state dry and set up investments in Enugu state, tell me where sullivan is investing his own loot.
U too, tell me what ur saint achieved with the federal allocations and igr coming to Enugu for 8 years, sector by sector.
I had said this earlier at the Enugu thread but its obvious no be only me waka come this time.
Any person who has lived in Enugu since the time of Jim Nwobodo that wants to argue on what Chimaroke did, either has a myopic memory or blatantly wants to make arguments. And that, i would not entertain wink

He can do his research if he really wants to know

@op, if you can use JAVA to solve all your problems, then please go ahead, but dont try to force everyone to share your views.
I think the OP did not really intend to do a who's-better-than-who debate.
I think it was just an innocent question, seeing the trend of most web developers using more of php/python

webdezzi: read my post again, my stand remains none is superior to the other. am talking php vs java here.

asalimpo, so java is buffer overflow proof or sql injection proof right or xss proof?

my point is, if java gets the job done, use it, if php lets you go live quickly because it is cheap off the shelf, use it

the programmer's role is to write secure code.
oh, ok.

Well, i still have the opinion that development languages play a major part in securing applications.
I really don't know what you guys are gonna argue in that aspect but watching changelogs and updates would basically show you how security is being improved.

But i think you're more of referring to the developers' part of security, that is the human factor, and that is basically on another level.

I don't really understand what they wanted to argue about in terms of languages and security.

More so, webdezzi suddenly came with the which-is-superior language argument.

I just gotta wait for the thread to grow a little to understand where it's heading to

eaglechild: I am inclined to be sympathetic with your cause.
Inasmuch as I have a soft spot for Sullivan, it will be suicidal to tow the path of sycophancy.

The article has a lot of half truths and outright lies, however, the present era of politicians are mostly deaf to soft criticisms constructive or not.

They only seem to respond to harsh "threats" and criticisms that threaten their future ambition.

Thus, I have to say that so far the facts are clear, then the criticisms should rain down harshly.

Sadly, most people pointing fingers tend to have alterior motives.
The facts are so clear that i wonder how he has survived for good 8 years without much media attention, as experienced by the federal government.
But then, most people in Enugu central do not travel out to other parts of the state, most Igbo people are not interested in what the government can and should do for them and the worst is that, the ones that do are more concerned on what happens in the south west even when their own homeland is raving with fire.

otil1: Pls sir, leave matta.

If u read the last paragraph, Ugo Chime's COPEN haas now completed and launched 3 private estates namely: Bethel (2007), Goshen (2010) and now ELIM (2014). Do you know which Govt allocated COPEN those estate lands?

Ugo Chime was Chairman Housing Corporation in Chimaroke Govt. You get the pix?

No false claiming pls.

We insist, we are serious that current administration is a sham! And it can be empirically proven.

Can anybody get geniun land allocation in Enugu state today? When the hon Comish, angling for house of rep is busy collecting bribes and giving double allocations. Ask anybody in Enugu.

The last thing Ugo Chime would wish was for Enugu Govt to near his project cos dey hate him with passion out of sheer envy.

In Goshen Estate, he had to construct a road across a cliff beside cattle market just to access his estate land, all by himself, no help. From ndi govt dat long declared him persona no grata.

Leaf matta o. We get packs of facts just waiting for the right time.
Seun ones said that Nigerian's do not like constructive criticism and truthful statements. It is either you are for them or you're against them.

The problem of our people is their inability to differentiate good and bad governance. The bitter truth is that they have not experienced good governance. Unemployement is highest when compared to other states, Only about 10% of Enugu residents enjoy pipe borne water. The water problem has being on for more than 40 years. Rent is highest in Enugu, housing stock is very low, fraudsters have taken over real estate and land acquisition business in Enugu. The state owned ETV runs only for a few hours a day, reception the poorest I have ever experienced, denying families who cannot afford to pay for cable access to information. POWER supply in Enugu is the worst anybody can think of. Students compete with the rest of the residents of Coal City, Enugu for accommodation. The facilities at these institutions an eyesore. The governor was ill adviced to demolish the old secreteriate buildings, these are monuments that harbor the history of Eastern Region. The parks in Enugu are either converted to beer parlours or shopping malls.Food is costly in Enugu, meat is out of the reach of poor, still nobody cares. Governace is about the people .

Gbamest!!!!
The part in bold are all lies grin

Rent in Enugu is even cheaper than in Onitsha not to talk of in Lagos, Abuja and most bigger cities.
There's enough house for Enugu people because we don't have much population.

Pls ooo, people should help me and go through that article to see how government officials peddle lies on National scale

Coming to performance. Is it that you're really in this to score cheap points or you don't know that the country's educational sector, as a whole, is a total mess.
Have you made a state-wide research, just in Enugu, on how the students, lecturers and the whole schools are faring.
The level of blatant illiteracy, depression and literal oppression the students go through. Or that, simply, there is no teaching going on in the public schools?

Oga, infact, you don't want to go to Education with me. Biko, find another sector and argue

To be totally frank, its very difficult to defend poor performance. I'd hate to be in your shoes bro.

My advice is, don't attempt to come a forum like this and throw wool over peoples eyes. The world is too interconnected now for that. When we delve into who's behind the contracts for roads, handrails, road marking and street lighting, the only things happening in your Enugu city, you know that we know what's gwan.

asalimpo: Talkg of security ,java set so many industry standards in security. Java sacrifced speed for security. The jvm is an engineerg marvel and model of techncal excellence.

@spikeC
an experienced java dev wud feel frustrated usg php. Java is simply faster thn php. Theyre java framewrks for web work too.
Naija has standardzed on php,but php isnt technically superior to other web technologies so y no usage of d alternatves?
Even c++ is used for web dev! Facebook translated a huge amount of php code to c++ for performance and economy reasons! The decision would save fb thousands of servers , and reduce heat emission by a signifcant amount.so Theres benefit to using d better technology. Though php may b faster to code in.
No programming technology comes close to Java in terms of security, so lets just leave that one aside.

I have already listed the reasons why most Nigerian based developers prefer php/python over java.

Learning curve too
And advise from people.
When a beginner seeks for the first programming language to learn, people will tell them to go learn the easy ones.

I would love to learn C++, but time is not on my side right now.

We should learn to give credit when it is deserved. If he chooses not to even beautify enugu metropolis (like most Nigerian politicians would have done), no one would incarcerate him, the highest they can do is to chase him with EFCC (which would eventually die down after few months). We are commending him for the little that we have seen cause corruption in Nigeria is just gettin worse.
