Lexusgs430: Hope you know you are only allowed 16 hours of work (term time), so you do not contravene your visa conditions? Getting a job presently in the UK, with the economic climate, is like trying to catch a monkey on a tree !!!
20 hours

rudedough: I know your type, empty head , plenty noise. You have talked about Economics, and i was waiting to get an Economics lecture but instead you're teaching me an Igbo proverb.

You also talked about Calculus, yet you can't counter my simple mathematical calculation with your Igbo calculus.

Present facts dude and stop going around the tangent, canceling comments and talking about "shooting oneself in the foot". That's a common tactic of @agbameta when he doesn't have an opinion.
Happy new year wink

toyetade: Krucifax:

So many good jobs don't go through advert on those websites. Most jobs you see on those websites are those which they are finding it hard to fill because they are not attractive. You don't seem to know UK at all. Find out information from those living there and doing well.
And those for freelancers from cheap-labor-source countries (India, Pakistan etc.)

They actually post up jobs at ridiculous low prices to see if they would get people (quite qualified) that will take the job.
Most good jobs are not even advertised.

The reality is, if you wanna get a job, ask for it.
TravelRe: Is It Advisable To Settle In The United Kingdom After Studies by spikesC(m): 11:11pm On Dec 31, 2013
rudedough: Thanks for the economics lesson but we are not discussing all that here. What i am talking about is livelihood, not the benefits of living in the UK which i have earlier categorized into 3 aspects; security of life, a working administrative system and a conducive environment. Other than the aforementioned benefits, please list other benefits a Non-British national receive.

[s]My point is, people should stop hyping the UK with currency figures because the value of £4 in the UK is equivalent to N200 in Nigeria. They both can only afford a bunch of banana. And as such, if you earn N400,000 a month in the UK, you're not any better than someone who earns N100,000 a month in Nigeria.[/s]

So cut the crap and curb that British Pounds rubbish. Only ignorant people who haven't lived in the UK would assume that a salary of £1,600 / month would afford them a good life in the UK. cheesy cheesy Please!!!

@Bolded, you must be very bad in mathematics.
You just shot yourself on the leg.
Considering the stroked text in your post, i wonder who is really bad in mathematics.

Coming to an end, i believe our definition of a good life is not the same cool

Gracias

rudedough: I have met a lot of people like you who compare living standards using face values without analyzing the long term effect.

If you rent a furnished studio apartment in the UK for N200k per quarter, that's a total of N800k per year.

However, If i rent a room self contain in Nigeria for N200k for the whole year, I'll still have a difference of N600k to furnish my room with. And N600k can get me even more exotic gadgets.

At the end of the year, you will be moving out of the house with your bags only, while i will be moving out with N600k worth of properties.

So please tell me again who's "exposing how little he knows about life"? Stop living in self denial Sir, take my advice.
Oga, this is the reason why people study economics.
I'll break this to the minimum for you.

Pounds and Naira are not in the same level.
UK and Nigeria doesn't have the same economy.

When you're looking at the rate of expenses of an individual in a particular location, you should also be looking at the rate of income in that same location.

We have an adage in igbo land that says, "Akpa ta ya na Naira, e rie ya na Naira, Akpa ta ya na Dollar, e rie ya na Dollar".
It means, if you make it in Naira, you spend it in Naira, if you make it in dollar, you spend it in dollar.

I totally do understand where you're driving at but, seriously, in that place lives ignorance and stupidity. (no offense intended)

If i start listing the benefits of living in the UK rather than in Nigeria (which would definitely be facts), it will mean that i'll have to succumb to a very degrading level of stupidity, trying to teach calculus to a primary 1 student.

So, pls, stop fooling yourself with all these arant bullshiiiiit.
Being black doesn't stop you from achieving your goals, it infact helps you to.
Because you have to prove, to a level of distinction, that you're worthy of the achievement. cool

UncleJJ: Actually security and forensics is the next big thing developers are like high paid mechanics . The only ones that make it to the finish lines are those who build against status quo. Theirs nothing special about writing code or having mastered painting or driving skills, this era only recognizes the guy that build applications which bridge the divide between economic sense and human nature.
security and forensics will keep evolving, it has from time immemorial.
but the use of data which has been accumulated over the years of technological advancement, accurately predicting what's gonna happen next and making it happen itself, is something that is of big interest to fortune 500 companies.

In the past few years, if u got ur hands on facebook database, the only useful thing would be peoples' contact details. But right now, we're predicting migration with a mere location status update.

The high paying jobs is gradually going to analysts, and people are still learning html and css.

when i tell ppl that development jobs will one day fade out as code monkeys will take over, and solution providers will rule the world, they would still ask me java or c++

ProgrammingRe: Are Your Programmers Working Hard, Or Are They Lazy? by spikesC(m): 1:03am On Dec 31, 2013
Nov1ce: ...
I would submit that the appearance of hard work is often an indication of failure. Software development often isn’t done well in a pressurised, interrupt driven, environment. It’s often not a good idea to work long hours. Sometimes the best way of solving a difficult problem is to stop thinking about it, go for a walk, or even better, get a good night’s sleep and let your subconscious solve it. One of my favourite books is A Mathematician’s Apology by G. H. Hardy, one of the leading British mathematicians of the 20th century. In it he describes his daily routine: four hours work in the morning followed by an afternoon of watching cricket. He says that it’s pointless and unproductive to do hard mental work for more than four hours a day.

To managers I would say, judge people by results, by working software, not by how hard they appear to be working. Counter intuitively, it may be better not to sit with your developers, you may get a better idea of their output unaffected by conventional/intuitive indicators. Remote working is especially beneficial; you will have to measure your employees by their output, rather than the lazier option of watching them sitting at their desks 8 hours a day thumping away at an IDE, or ‘helpfully’ crowding around each other’s desks offering ‘useful’ suggestions.

ok, just to ask

199. Where evidence from two or more accounts is submitted, we will assess the funds
available to you as being:
• the closing balance of one account, plus
• any additional money available to you on the date of that closing balance, for which
you have provided the required evidence.
200. We will always use the closing balance date from the account that most favours you.
Does this mean that the second account do not need to be held for 28days?

179. If you are using overseas currency, we will expect you to show (in writing on your
application form) the closing balance in pounds sterling. We use the official exchange rate
on the OANDA website, which can be found at www.oanda.com/convert/classic.
I'll be submitting my application (online), and then book an appointment (considering 28 days period).
How would i know the exchange rate on the day of my closing balance?

Or, do i write it on the day of the biometric submission?
