My organization needed to purchase some new cars and he was the one in charge of the planning and purchase, after the cars were bought it was discovered that he requested for kickbacks from the vendor,

he was almost sacked but instead was recently demoted to my office on the same position, Due to some key responsibilities I have in the office I'm in charge of some activities,,,
Here is the problem, he isolates himself,, still behaves like he's a superior, acts bossy and doesn't want to associate with other colleagues or in discharging his duties.

How do I handle such a person?? How do I approach the situation accordingly,,, make I clear the guy put am for him place or I should just be complacent? Guys help out

I had a similar experience. Started a job where the my predecessor failed and was demoted to a lesser managerial position. She was arrogant, annoying and rude. She obviously was choleric and aggressive, but most importantly she envied me and wanted me to fail so as to feel good.

I made a few mistakes, but this is my advice:
1. Don't encourage over-familiarity. Don't encourage him asking or knowing personal or management decisions and details.
2. Intentionally keep detailed information away from him and don't oblige him anything on personal levels. Look too busy to have his FULL attention
3. Be professional at all times, even at things that doesn't concern him. He will refer to those unprofessional things in the future.
4. Do not think twice to give him official verbal warning and written queries. Carry your immediate boss along or the HR.
5. Give him lesser responsibilities that you think he will feel too big to undertake and give him query if he doesn't do it (he definitely will not do it well).
6. Do not lose guard, i repeat, do not lose guard. SET BOUNDARIES!
