FIFA rules is very very different from EPL rules(or league rules).
And all these while I was thinking you were even talking about new EPL rules Are PL rules done outside FIFA? |

BlueRayDick: This link u posted did not confirm the change in as u painted it has been effected . It only talks about Arsene Wenger’s suggestion which FIFA are considering “giving a trial” .
When this trial will be carried out was not mentioned ,if it has already been carried out and approval granted was also not mentioned .
I did a personal search myself and confirm the only change to the offside rule this season has nothing to do with what u’ve described in ur posts . The only change to the offside rule is that if a ball touches let’s say Dalot before Touching Saka while in an offside position, Saka would still be adjudged offside.
I think the new rule u are quoting in ur posts is ur own imagination o I have modified the post with screenshot. Yours is a more recent change basically for PL. Mine is a FIFA rule. In fact they want to improve on it to favour the attacking player |

Roland17: You are absolutely right about Vieira’s defensive frailties. The times we have introduced him, we were desperately in search of a goal and stayed aggressive attacking so he did not need to defend.
I liked what I saw with Rice yesterday, otherwise, I would have suggested pushing him to the LM while Partey sits deep but Partey is injured. I think the best bet would be to give ESR a chance because Havertz isn’t cutting it for us.
Our next game is against Everton. They play a 5 man midfield, if you include A. Dacoure who now plays the 10 position and they are all physical players. Remember, we lost same fixture by 1-0 last season and I lost it. If we will use Vieira then whoever is playing LFB should not overlap. Vieira will now have to do the off the ball run to allow Martinelli to cut in or receive the ball and cross in. In all I'd like to see ESR in that role and he has always been my preferred choice as he is right footed. Our formation has a way of pinning the opponent down in their own half. I five man midfiield will either dominate us or expose their defense. |

Jodera: Spy360, look at this screenshot again. If it's the leg, then he's definitely onside. I don't know about that screenshot as the original picture. But offside rules now only map those body parts that can be used make contact with the ball. That is head and leg. The VAR check was Gabriel's head Vs Gernacho's leg. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Spy360(m): 6:05pm On Sep 04, 2023 |
Jodera: Did you look at that picture well?
Garnacho's leg was certainly onside, it was his body abi armpit that they claimed was off.
Also, it was Gabriel's head that was used in measuring the offside. Just try and look at the pic well and the offside marker of the respective players I don't know of the picture, what VAR used was Gabriel's head and Gernacho's leg. Gernacho's hands were way off. |

Roland17: Transitioning new players into a team, especially one that is successful is hard. At this point, starting him again will be pitching him against the fans who are now coming at him and Arteta during games. He needs a slow transition at this point. He can watch from the bench and transition slowly into the team as a sub. Arsenal fans are on the edge right now because of how last season ended and you can see it from their response when we are playing poorly.
Vieira is showing traits of why we got him. Nothings beats decisiveness on the ball and that is what Vieira seems to have learned. I agree with you that ESR is a better option but coaches pick players who are in form. If you notice, Trossard wasn’t even an option yesterday. Vieira has come on this season and produced a goal, PK and assist with decisive actions immediately he receives the ball. I want to ESR but with Vieira’s form, it would be tough, especially if your MCM continues to start Havertz.
That left side is the most important side of the pitch when we start Zinny because that is where we are inverting from. Zinny did one hell of a job as a CM and Gabu was excellent in covering and anticipating plays. Martinelli ran his socks off yesterday and even though I did not see the incisiveness in the final third, he won important corner kicks and throwing. However, he needs to help us more when we are without the ball. My fear in using Vieira in that LAM position is his defensive ability due to his frail nature. If defending is not a problem, Vieira is very potent going forward and he has his tail up in confidence. |

Jodera: I didn't see this in the new offside rule tho.
And aside that, the screenshot shared by Oba.Igwe, they used his head to measure it. The rules changed. Now a player can point to a space in front of him and will not be offside, as long as his legs are on. |

How many of us noticed that Rice is not effective playing on the right side of CM? Zinchenko had to move accross to the left whenever he had to invert.
But this unleashed the beast in Rice and he too was able to cover whenever he had to.
Gabriel will play when Zinny is available |

Roland17: On one hand I can understand why he is doing this, considering Havertz is a new signing that is struggling. However, on the other hand, he is hypocritical, because he did not hesitate to throw Peperempe under the bus during press conferences.
Once again, this is Arteta being stubborn about something that is obviously not working because it is his signing and his ego. Forcing Havertz on the team and disrupting our tactics and chances of winning games is pitching Havertz against the fans which will do more damage to his confidence.
If you ask me, I suggest that Havertz be re-integrated slowly into the team from the bench. This team plays high intensity with fluid movement going forward and Havertz is doing the opposite right now. I totally agree. The boy lacks confidence at all. Arteta would only damage him more by starting him in games. He needs to drop him for a game or two and allow him integrate slowly. Too bad we are losing a player of his quality due to poor handling. That said, we should not think of Vieira as the next option because he is not good defending in the middle. The only other option we have now is ESR. |

Onkoolos: U guys use Ojoro!!! Gernacho goal wasn't offside. We will meet at Old Trafford. Enjoy your winning while it last. By nextweek u are gonna return to your default mode. It shall never be well with var and antony taylor Garnacho was off. You are arguing because you are not intune with the new offside rule that was introduced just before season started. Now offside is decided by the legs and not the entire body. That is why Gabriel slant position is considered a genius act. Again, that Kai penalty should have stood because there was a second clip on his knee that the camera didn't pick and Taylor was too hasty to cancel his initial decision. |

Lols.
I no get time for that terrorist Why don't you get us a dictionary oga. Listen you are just exposing your stupidity by engaging in this. Get a dictionary and explain your pointless point. An individual's personal life cannot constitute culture or its norms if that's the way you are going. And by the way, the issues that surround belief systems are not regarded as norms because they involve social institutions. There can be religious norms but religion itself is not a norm. |

You think by tagging me an illiterate you have won an argument? When this illiterate guy has just blown your head open. You moved from culture to norms. Rubbish. Atheism is neither a cultural practice nor a cultural norm in Africa. Any individual can hallucinate about the nonexistence of God that does not make it a cultural practice. Yoruba women who wear trousers does not make it Yoruba culture. Neither is it anything near cultural norms. |

A001: Then you don't know what's called culture. For freethinkers, the norm is to approach issues or beliefs about God using either the agnostic, atheistic, or humanistic perspective, or a combination of some of these three positions and related ones.
Norm is an element of culture. You're discussing a topic you don't even have basic knowledge of. First you didn't know religion is under the umbrella term of culture, and now, you don't know norm is also under culture.
If a person visits Nairaland daily and does so for a considerable period of time in his life, that has become an aspect of his culture. What's this nonsense you typed? European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Spy360(m): 2:54pm On Sep 02, 2023 |
A001: So dull. If you say atheism isn't present in the African culture, that means theism isn't there as well.
The moment a person says he believes in a god or deity (theism) and another person doesn't accept or entertain that belief (atheism), atheism has started.
We don't call such people atheists in Africa as English isn't part of African languages.
In Yoruba, they're described as 'poki' or 'enitionilorun'. Historically, atheism isn't even also traditional to the English culture. The first atheists originated from ancient Egypt, ancient Greece, and Old Rome.
Ancient Egypt is the origin of civilization, and many philosophical ideas of the West had its roots from there.
In any society, the most intelligent people are the freethinkers — the agnostics, atheists, and humanists, and if you can't find a word for any of those in your culture, it shows they're very rare in your culture because many of them have been historically killed in Africa.
It means that culture hasn't had deep intellectual evolution in its history.
You'll find most world's top scientists are either agnostics or atheists. The bolded is not culture. Culture is the way of life of a people. Emphasis on people. I am not talking about one random dude hallucinating about the nonexistence of God. I am talking about an African people who actually believe and whose lives are influenced by not believing in the existence of any God anywhere. If you want to prove to me that atheism has a place in African culture then you have to mention any particular people any where in Africa that has that belief system and are influenced by it in their way of life. For example we know of agnosticism in ancient Greece. Tell us where in Africa is atheism adopted by a people. By the way the most intelligent people aren't always atheists. This is because ancient science and education was intertwined with religion. Even in Africa and other ancient civilizatios, our local medical practitioners were priest etc. But that's another topic. |

A001: Did atheism originate from the English culture? We call our native culture and traditions "Isese" or "Asa ati Ise" in Yoruba language.
Igbo people also have their own equivalent of Isese, which you call Igbo culture. There's a term for it in Igbo language.
Every people around the world has their own equivalent of Isese in their own area. In Arabia, Islam is an element of their own Isese or native cultures and traditions.
Christianity is an aspect of the Isese or the native culture and traditions of Israelites.
These are basic facts a typical African should know. Tell us where atheism started. In Igbo, culture is called Omenala. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Spy360(m): 2:02pm On Sep 02, 2023 |
Trevor012: He is simply telling you even as an atheist he appreciates African culture and wants to see them promoted. There's atheism in every culture. The bolded is not acceptable by me. African culture does not permit a void in the divine. Let's not bring up fake ideas just to push our narratives. I want to learn, you will have to prove that. Appreciating a culture and defending it are two different issues. Religion is an aspect of African culture, and so defending it means acceptance. How can you promote what you don't believe in? Makes no sense. I also appreciate African culture and I am not atheist. I appreciate but won't promote it or even defend it. |
