Igwe is better by far bro. Eto O has been among La Liga top scorers since he was 16 at Mallorca. Under Wenger he may have been a more deadlier striker considering how Wenger himself transformed Henry from a Mr nobodinho at Juventus to the legend he became. Jodera: Lol, you brought Halaand heatmaps showing he doesn't have any higher concentration outside the box (red marker) compared to Jesus who always drops deep and "form activity" outside the box. When I told you to provide other strikers and you brought two, seeing they have higher concentration outside the box like Jesus too(red marker), you don turn am to "when they wan defend"
So now, it's no longer they that they don't drop deep but it now has a defending clause like say Man city and arsenal no dey defend shey? First you brought Nketiah as your inbox man, I no see red marker for 18 box(even though you claimed there is). Now you bring two other strikers' heatmap guilty of what Jesus does but their own get security excuse while Jesus doesn't
Amala turning at its finest init.
Let's even ignore that Alexis once thrived playing this way . Also let's all ignore that not all teams makes use of target men and that not all strikers are target men.
I've dropped my pen sha, I don't intend to prolong this thing any further cos there's no verifiable metric to say that it's tiredness that makes Jesus miss goal. It's just you speculating while I gave you facts.
The most hilarious is you saying strikers dribbling means they're wrongly positioned. I don "learn" many things From you this month sha . Many many things all under one month
"Even our legendary Henry was a target man and he was always always sitting in the box. He doesn't dribble too"
Bro Spy, I've dropped my pen on this matter biko You can't drop pen when you can't admit. And there still so many misunderstanding (I think it's more of mischief) from your post. Lack of composure which I fingered as the reason for poor finishing by GJ is not tiredness. I have used frame of mind yet you don't get it. It seems to me you haven't played much football. But let me assume you did, one of the reasons players miss big chances (similar to missing penalties) is due to composure or mind frame. The lack of focus and attentiveness to be effective and efficient. By being too involved in the build-up, his efficiency in finishing is affected. Like kind of doing many things instead of focusing on one. That's what I meant by composure not tiredness. As per the heat maps, you also mistakenly assumed I said strikers should build tents and live with the goalkeepers in the box to have red markers on the heat maps there. That's absolutely mischievous to think of. Players do move around, sometimes to defend or press or build up attacks. The question here is if they get too occupied by those activities. What the heat maps have shown is that too goal scorers (Haaland, Kane, Mitrovic) don't get too involved in the build up, (please see the blue circles in my previous post) hence no red markers close to the box. Once their teams gain possession they quickly move towards the box to receive a final pass and not to involve themselves in chance creation or build up. They leave that for the midfielders and wingers. GJ has to change his over involvement in buildups if he wants to increase his goal tally because it is not helping the team objectively. The only beneficiaries are Xhaka, Saka and Martinelli. |

Jodera: So the issue with Gabriel Jesus for his lack of clinicality is just wrong decision-making and not being ruthless in front of goal. If he likes, let him don't press or let him marry that 18yard box, if he doesn't work on those two, we'll still complain the same thing and still be putting the blame on him doing buildups and pressing when in actual fact, that's just the wrong diagnosis.
If I'm the arsenal attacking coaches, I'll sit him down, show him all these videos and tell him to dribble smart to score(he have that) not just to dribble in order to dribble In other words, he should always dribble to set himself up for goalscoring opportunities and that you don't need to dribble everybody in order to achieve that. Just one or two (highest) and you're good to shoot or pass. Sanchez was a master of that.
He also needs to work on his placement shot. Learn to put the ball at the far corner, at least make the keeper work. If the keeper makes a save... Then fine. But any curler perfectly well executed at the far post is hardly saved by the keeper. Most strikers and attackers are always fond of that, that's why the goal rate is high
Once Jesus is able to work on these two things, we'll have a world class striker there just as we had it in Sanchez!!
I drop my pen(and shalayes to those who might see it as one ) All these pictures you use flood here like say na All or Nothing we dey do for this thread. The only thing you have said is Jesus needs to dribble to score. That's one of the problems. As a striker, dribbling to score means poor positioning. A good goal scorer is a poacher. He needs not more than two touches. Jesus usually receives the ball from outside the box that's why he needs to dribble to score. He should be receiving the ball and strikiyit at first instance. Unless you are telling me he is not a striker. How many times does Haaland or Kane have to dribble to score? All they need is a good cross or pass from De Bruyne or Son respectively to bury their chance in one sequence. Not dribble to score. Again, you don't teach a player how to finish. It's an instinct. If you don't have it at that moment you don't. Jesus has finishing instints- we saw him score many goals of Man City late last season. We saw his goals in preseason. Did he just lose it? To the point of being schooled all over again? Na! Let him reduce his activity in the build up and you will see a different GJ. Arteta should be the one telling him. There's a reason why strikers are called target men. A target stays where he can be found. |

Jodera: 1. From both heatmaps, we can deduce that both Mitrovic and Kane also do much work outside the box and even down to the midfield (we can see red markers which denotes higher concentration in their midfied) and the worst part is that their midfied red marker is greater than their box red heatmaps. Them and Jesus are almost doing the same thing, the only difference is that Jesus is just more of a hardworker than them. That is why even though Jesus heatmaps concentration is greater (more touches) than them, his heatmap concentration in the opposition box is also greater than them too. Your point would have been valid if their heatmaps (i.e Kane and Mitrovic) was more concentrated in the box than out of the box (just like Halaand) but unfortunately it's not. It just proves that Jesus has more energy and fitness levels and agility than them, and that's a skill on its own.
2... Players with Jesus' kind of skills(especially with his kind of energy levels) are rare and are rarely found in found in Europe. Such players are street guys' players mainly found in South America and Africa (where they play alot of street football). So to answer your questions, I'll tell you Alexis Sanchez.
Alexis Sanchez drops deep, tackles, make runs, involve in build-ups, hassle defenders and he still scores goals. Do you remember the season when he played as a striker for us(2016/17)? He did exactly all these things Jesus is doing yet he scored 24 league goals and due to his build up and creativity output, he got 11 assists. I don't know of any person/striker in arsenal aside Henry that have given 20+ goals and 10+ assists in the league alone a season. I'm a regular here during that period (though not registered) yet I don't remember you or anyone here saying Alexis don't need to drop deep or always stay at the box or his composure due to tiredness is what is affecting his scoring. The difference between Sanchez and Jesus when it comes to scoring is decision making. And I'll explain that to you in pictures my next posts. You requested for heat maps of PL strikers, I brought it. But you couldn't use it. Understand How To Use Heat Maps 1. The first thing you want to take note of is the spread of high concentration. What that tells you is activity. ACTIVITY. That's exactly what I am saying which you admitted but turned it upside down. Jesus is too active in the build up. I have said so repeatedly. You call it hardwork but where has it led him? 4 goals. Kane has 9 and Mitrovic has 7. I brought up that of Haaland, you said it's because it's Haaland. 2. You mentioned that the high concentration is less for all even in the box. That's true because it's obvious that's not where they will stay all day. Kane and Mitrovic drops deep too, but thats mostly when they have to defend. The moment their team gains possession they sprint quickly to the box. That is why you did not see red markers near the box but inside. For GJ there are red markers all the way from midfield to around the box to inside the box. That's too much activity for any striker who needs goals. Once again the heat maps you requested are here. Kane, Mitrovic and Jesus respectively. I have included that of Haaland for more emphasis. Now please answer the question I asked you or simply apologize.

Jodera: I won't answer this question unless you answer mine that I've first asked you since ystdy. I've been answering your questions even when you've been skipping mine since ystdy and today
1... Is Jesus goal drought due to not seeing big chances like Lacazette in the box or due to being clinical
2... Show me the EPL strikers heatmap let's compare to Jesus (hint: use the speed of light as 9.812 in which you brought Halaand and Jesus heatmap ) Ok no problem. apart from the speed of light thing. 1. It is due to not being clinical. He is seeing big chances but he is not having the composure (if this word is the problem check it out) or right frame of mind to finish those chances. He's usually involved in the build up and by the time he arrives in the box, he is either not in a preferred position or have exerted himself so much as to lack the right mix of power and accuracy. Some strikers deliberately avoid build up. They just want to be in the right frame to be able to finish off chances. GJ should know that scoring is his primary duty and not chance creation. So he must not always be part of the build up. He should spend more time positioning himself either to receive a final pass or to make a splitting run. Most times he is found in the build up and while it has benefitted others it has become detrimental to him. So he is seeing opportunity but he is not taking them and that's because he drops deep all the time which makes him to lose composure. 2. Lol at the bolded.Mention a striker (a) in the frame of GJ - that drops deep and (b) is scoring goals unlike GJ. Make your choice from any point in history when we can draw stats. For the benefit of doubt I have dropped that of Kane (he does drop deep but knows when to sprint to the box. Note that he hardly touches the ball around the area near the box.) and Mitrovic. The second and third highest scorers this season in PL. The last one is that of GJ. You will see that GJ gets too involved. All are obtained from PL stats as posted by Sofascore.com

Jodera: Nothing is subjective here. Anyone who compares those two heatmaps knows that Jesus is more active in the box than Nketiah has been but you must still turn Amala.
One thing I noticed about this G Jesus issue is that when he was doing all those his workrate this season and everyone was happy, I knew once a bad patch comes you guys will immediately start equating him to Laca (already preconceived notion) such as: he doesn't stay in the box, he's never getting at the end of chances as a striker, he's just working for only Martinelli and Saka etc, reason why I wanted to debunk it as soon as possible.
You guys don't want to even reason that he might be going through a purple patch— something which is normal for strikers— and once he gets his clinicality right, he'll come good just the way he was beginning of this season and preseason.
I knew it'll come to this but I never knew it'll be so soon What your eyes can see is subjective. Tell us why GJ suddenly became unclinical despite maintaining his workrate and performance levels. |

All these things you're saying, was it not what I was saying since ystdy that he just needs to be clinical since he sees the chance but you just dey para say Xhaka, Martinelli and Saka dey take him spot and his shine in the 18yard box. You even bring Nketiah join sef. Thank goodness for heatmap.
I still dey wait for the other strikers aside Haaland wey most of their opposition touches are in the 18yard box compared to G Jesus. I just hope you provide them for me Lol. It's easy to twist things when you can type English. There's a difference between getting into the box and staying in the box. Whenever you can differentiate this then the convo will make sense. My point has always been he staying in the box. Off course if he has been scoring despite spending time away from the target point, no one will complain. But he is not scoring and we have found out why. |

Jodera: Boss, there is no red marker biko. That is thick yellow marker which just means average touches concentration(He doesn't even have dark brown sef which is the closest to the highest concentration(red marker)). It's surprising your Nketiah doesn't have red marker in the box yet you used him to brag while G Jesus whom you claim doesn't have touches in the box have red marker full everywhere.
This is G.Jesus heat map while the 2nd is Nketiah heatmap again(for Europa since that's where he completes 90min for fair comparison). Nketiah heatmap even show he spends more time in the midfield and left wings with more ball touches compared to the opposition box yet na Gabriel Jesus Una dey crucify
Between the two we can see who spends more time in the box more
NB: I'm still waiting for your other pl strikers' heatmap. Let's compare their heatmap in the opposition box to that of Gabriel Jesus If you can't see the faint color difference then I can't help. At this point it is subjective. What's funny is that you have not even explained why GJ has not been clinical which is what I have been trying to do and most people here agree to it. But fact is if Jesus does not change, he will suffer plenty goal drought. |

Jodera: Thank you bro. This has always been my point. Someone get more shots and more passes received and more chances to score in the opposition box yet he's accused of not being present in the box.
Anyways, I just hope G Jesus starts scoring regularly again with the chances he gets. That's just the Koko sha You've not understood the point. He does get into the box but only after when he has exerted himself in the build up. By doing so he usually does not maintain enough composure to score with the right mix of precision and power. But if he can reduce his involvement in he build up, allow others to create for him, then he can muster enough time and composure to pick his goal. |

If there's no red concentration then it means he doesn't have red concentration then.
So I'm waiting for your other strikers' heatmap for this season Good. There are red markers showing areas of higher concentration. Now if you look clearly you will notice that the red markers are more inside the box evident that he spends more time there than outside it. The only other place where we have little red markers are when he is defending. |

Lush100: Jodera is right. Jesus is spending too much time in the AM position and left wing and peripheral places which is affecting his composure to score (problem laca had compounded by aging) and it's partly caused by the set-up (becos only the right side is making inroads with tomiyasu on the left). Odegard is shying away from the AM spot because it involves lot of intelligent work and tackles too. So he comes out while saka makes more inroad. Transit xhaka has taken advantage of odegard absence there by arriving there to finish chances. Jesus should stay in the box (like against Brentford) and let odegard and xhaka handle the situation outside the box. Arteta should allow Teneiry to play so that Martinelli can have space to run into the box via diversion same way white does for saka. Odegard should learn to shot so that Jesus who is in the box can also pounce should there be a rebound. Tomiyasu should only start when the opposition is stronger (more attacking than us ). Eg liverpool, man city, newcastle and maybe manu or any other team that show it and he should play at right back. Tienery can be instructed to play deep and only run when clear during these kind of matches. I expect second string team for the europa, we only need a draw Jodera they said you are right. |
