Jodera: Lol, it's an opinion boss. I no drop am for any agenda(weda na DWYL or na MWYL ish). But if you have contrary opinion why arsenal is failing you can post yours.
I strictly talked about the root of arsenal failings and possible solutions, no use agenda eye read am Isn't it enough that when you lose your best player, be it in attack or defense, it's going to affect the whole team? If I tell you that the problem of this team is not personnel but psychology you will not accept. This team is mentally affected by the loss of two good starters. Hopefully they will get over that mental block and find a way to push themselves into winning again. When Mostob brought his formation options, I told him as it stands the major problem is not formation but mentality. I saw that clearly. This was what also affected City, though they cope better because they have other very good players to rely on. |

Any team that loses their best player will always collapse unless there is a quality backup. This is irrespective of whether it's defense or attack.
Man City lost today to Liverpool just because of same reason.
This is not an argument in favour of the team. They were woeful seeing the highlights but let's not turn this into another DWYL case. That's been done and dusted. |

But you are right that they still have a fair distance to go cos transitioning from academy to senior football is one of the trickiest things in football. Yes. This includes the mental part of it. afrodoc2: Yeah. If you are not scoring goals as a striker you are not doing your primary job. Every other thing is a bonus.
Meanwhile you guys have a potential complete 1st team midfield waiting in your reserves. Henry-Francis at 6 and Patino/Azeez as the two 8s. It's a long time coming and anything can still happen. But you're right, those three really have huge potentials. |

50d33q: Nketiah will still come in and have more shots on goal than lacazette You have a unique way of just hitting the nail on the head with very few words. I respect that. Just to add, Nketiah has also been a bit unlucky, we have seen him hit the cross bar twice and even pulled a magnificent save out of Brighton's keeper late on with a glancing header. I am confident he will get a goal if he stays on for at least 60mins. |

Jodera: How do you mean that's not his type? Nketiah is a striker and no matter the kind of striker one is, for him to upsurp a starter he needs to score goals. Simple You said we've creativity all round, we just need a poacher, so it even favours his style sef in contrast with what you're saying
No body is talking about dribbling or creating chances here. Simply score goals even if na tapin since he's a poacher. What I meant by saying it favoured his style as a poacher is only in comparison with Laca's own style of dropping deep. But his type as a poacher will need time for any impact in the game because he will depend on opportunity as he will not create for himself. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Spy360(m): 7:25pm On Apr 15, 2022 |
Jodera: All what you're saying is what you said before na. Nothing new.
All What Wright is saying is that Nketiah no try when it comes to capitalising on Laca's goal drought and he can't complain of minutes cos fewer minutes have been given to some players than what he(Nketiah) had and they have scored goals.
Hopefully, we'll see what he brings for us tomorrow (I pray he starts). I just pray he capitalises on it and send Laca to the bench. It's all up to him to impress tomorrow and thank God it's Southampton and not any of the big team Nothing new but I am saying Wright should not have expected Nketiah to make impact as instant as other players because that's not his type. A player like Pepe may make instant impact coming on as a sub because of his dribbling skills, but Nketiah won't because he's atypical to that style. |

mostob: First option A back four of White, Holding,Gab and Soarez(Tavarez maybe).. the LB will overlap while White will fall in to make it a back 3. Xhaka to partner Sambi with Ode, Nketiah,Marti and Saka up front.
Second option Back 3 9f white, Holding and Gab. Soarez and Tava at WB. Sambi and Xhaka with Ode making the Midfield 5. Martinelli and Pepe (or Saka) upfront.
Third option White and Gab in defnce,... Soarez and Tava as FBs..Xhaka and Sambi with Ode in Midfield...Saka,Marti and Pepe in attack. All your options are good and may work only if the attitude is right. The players needs to come out sharp and determined to win that match. If not, na another lamenting |

Jodera: I heard exactly same thing ystdy at that "Wrighty and Kelly show" from Wright. It was Exactly same thing I was telling Spy then but he thinks I'm just blindly defending Lacazette. Nketiah would have done more, but he didn't and that's the sad truth. Greenwood broke into man u first team with less minutes when he was given the chance by scoring by the 70th+ min whenever he came on. Ole no just dash am regular shirt like that. Same with Martinelli and Saka.
While I'm even banking on Nketiah now is because Laca is not even doing the things I was even defending him for again and I think that's what Arteta might probably be reasoning (if that illness is a cover up stuff).
If Nketiah hopefully starts tomorrow, then he should try to capitalise on it(no better time than now). My call for Nketiah was partly due to Laca's poor form since there's nothing to lose and that I see a poacher in him. The second reason should be what we will see if he gets more minutes than usual. For such poacher type of striker as opposed to the technical, they provide others outlets for a pass and always look to grab small opportunities to score. Nketiah (like all poachers) can score a hatrick and yet not be MOTM. They are only opportunistic. That's the type we need now with all the creativity around the team. Someone to be available to put the ball inside the net. |

Jencejyde: I'm struggling to understand the instructions given to Laca. If he is to play the CF role, then he should be doing more shuttles in and around the 18yard rather than coming way outside the yard into midfield to get into play.
Unless it's what the manager has instructed , then it's not helping his game at all. I remember when Laca was in Lyon and was playing the CF role with aplumb but it seems either he is asked to play it differently or he lacks the fitness levels to do those runs in and around.
A CF must have pure instinct and technique before anything else, fitness and understanding of the role may alter performance but ultimately the instinct and technique will prevail if consistent.
I can understand why we wanted that guy that went to Juve. The guy is something else with technique and instinct.
Well it all goes back to the board and the decision to let Auba go without getting a decent backup. It's a shame really and unless Laca just finds form out of nowhere then it's a long road Arsenal was genuinely interested in Vlahovic but he preferred Juventus and they capitalised on it and hijacked the deal. This is why I am not going to be too hard on the board, coupled with the fact that signing just anybody will be worse than not signing at all. As for Lacazette, I blame Jodera. |

daveP: a pity the best striker left.
The one playing to Arteta's instructions never jam goal in 20hrs. The games Auba adapted to his style, he went goalless too. Arteta should swallow the humble pie, cos if he experiments or tries to force the incoming striker to the style, Goal no go show o. When I said an out of form Auba was better, they almost stoned me. While I supported his exit due to indiscipline, I still stood by my words and have been vindicated. Our failure to sign a striker in Jan was always going to haunt us, but even at that we could have used the next option which was Nketiah. Porbably by now, the guy would have blended fully and start producing but lo we have to start afresh. If the IT student does not deal with Lacazette, Lacazette will deal with him. |

Jodera: ESR is an able deputy in that left wing so it's not really an issue. Though whether Nketiah or Martinelli is better as long as Lacazette is out. I'd rather have Nketiah at CF than ESR at LW as it stands today. However both gives us options in attack. Like what Jencejyde was lamenting about, not signing a striker in Jan may cost Arteta big time. But still keeping faith with Lacazette will cost Arteta more. He will regret it. |

Jodera: Maintland Niles consistently warming bench in Roma. When will someone tell this boy that midfield is not for him and that he would have been seeing more minutes anywhere as a fullback. Even TAA that's a recognised fullback was a midfielder at Liverpool academy but played fullback when they lacked one just as how Ainsley broke out too. Now he's a regular player with both club and country while Ainsley still dey do strong head Some people cannot discover their destiny until it's too late. AMN would have been a brilliant FB until Arteta. He loves FBs that can drift into midfield and create loads of tactical opportunities and tweaking. But AMN nor want hear. |

Jodera: The thing is presently Lacazette is useless in that number 9 position. Before at least he doesn't score but at least he brings other things he brings to the table, but now he's not scoring, not linking up play, not assisting and not even pressing from the front again. It seems he's even lost all hope and that's the worrying part coming from a whole captain.
Like you said, Nketiah might not be the solution but at least, he's way way better than Lacazette now and I agree. Laca have lost it. I just hope Arteta gets sense and do the needful
The way forward to salvage our season now is to start either Nketiah or Martinelli as CF (I prefer Martinelli tho) and revert back to our 4231 with Sambi and Xhaka together. I still feel we can still push forward as long as Arteta will move away from that 433 for now till Partey comes back. Tavarez needs to be back and needs some talking to get him back to form
The boys shouldn't lose head. Not now. Moving Martinelli to the centre will weaken the LW where he is more productive for us. I think Nketiah is just being overlooked. He was rubbish against Villa, but has been good in the last two games. |

Jencejyde: There are 3 phases of a football match and the two I pay attention to the most are the 1st 15 mins and 2nd 15 mins. Once I saw our first phase performance in the first half, I did not bother watching anymore and no surprises to come back at half time to see us a goal down.
Now I waited to see how the first phase of the second half would go and I was more than happy after 60 minutes to watch the game until the end simply because of the performance, the corner kicks forced, the free kicks forced and the dominance in the opponents half. Unfortunately we conceeded a second goal but at this point for me personally I saw what most of us clamoured for which was the right mentality, the right attitude and a performance and it was no surprise when we scored. Sadly we started badly and paid the price once again.
There are no excuses to be made but to look at that second half performance and ensure for all it's worth that these guys produce such consistently from every kickoff of the next games we have. That ability to break inertia with a strong momentum has been a big challenge for us against these smaller teams when we are under pressure to win. I believe it's the manager's job, or whoever does the team talk, or the club psychologist. We have it when closing games but really lack it during the first 15mins. Are the boys mentally exhausted? Who is the leader who should be pushing the boys above their limits? I thought Ramsdale does that very well, what's gone wrong? |

Jodera:

The thing is that Lacazette is the least of our problems now Tbh. Even the Nketiah you're always clamouring for had over 30min to score but he didn't. I'm not even saying Laca is the best for us or shouldn't be benched, but who will bench him? Nketiah that's suppose to grab his opportunities now is not even scoring or showing that he wants it. At least, you won't say Nketiah isn't seeing shirt presently.
But that's by the way. Why I said Lacazette is the least of our problem in this structure is because the play is not heavily revolved around him.
Once that midfield creativity and balance is altered and subdued, then we'll be ready to see more games like today Saying Lacazette is the least of our problems tells your whole story. It's sad for me because you don't know that our priority now is to score goals. That Lacazette is not the focal point of the team structure means he is useless because of his performance. As for Nketiah, he may not be the best idea of a good striker we need, has shown that he is a better prospect of goal scoring than Laca even in the last two games we lost he has struck the bar twice. I am not that's the goal we want but it tells us that if given more playing time to blend he can do better than what Laca is serving us currently. |
