I did give Ramsdale a chance. Ask anybody. Though initially I took him as backup to Leno, but he proved he should be No1. What I loved about him was his game management and ability to communicate. That for me was the key in his good performances.

of course you did.

In your explanation, you said in an upgrade, you bring someone who already have a pedigree.

So please, tell me the pedigree White had that made him an upgrade on dem mustafi and co?

Tell me also why bentancur is not an upgrade when he has more pedigree than Winks?
White had some pedigree before joining. He was already with England at the Euros.

Ramsdale/Leno as an upgrade was a mistake, I have already addressed that.

Bentacour to Spurs does not sound as an upgrade for me because they had Dier playing DM and was moved to defense. That looks like makeup. If you call it an upgrade, it's up to you.

This whole thing is really based on personal perspective, especially that of the manager or club who did the deal.

Good reason is that Madison want to move to arsenal and he's going to hand over transfer request to push the move.
Bad reason is fvcking ramsdale, I read this guy ain't even better than bravo yet we want to pay 30m for him when we could have gotten onana for just 7m

Ramsdale Vs Leno was not an upgrade please. It was a makeup. We needed competition or backup for Leno. We got Ramsdale who ursurped him. It could easily be reverse if Ramsdale starts farting.

They may bench the old guys but They did not COME as upgrades. Things can easily reverse.

In an upgrade, you bring someone who already has a pedigree, not someone to start a competition for places.

For example, we did an upgrade with Partey, Tierney, and White. They were brought in to take over their respective positions.

Ramsdale Vs Leno was not an upgrade. Ramsdale was brought in to compete with Leno. That's a makeup. Had we signed someone like Ederson or Allison, it would be an upgrade. Because they would have the automatic no 1 shirt.

So you called bentancur and kuluveski makeups? How come if they're starting most matches and displaced the players that was already there.
Example, bentancur replaced winks and
Kuluveski replaced Moura or bergwijn(any of your choice)

So tell me why are they regarded as makeups instead of upgrades since they didn't fit the makeup definition?
Conte did not sign them as upgrades na. Haba.

Please explain in simple terms between Makeup and upgrade for me, so that I'll get the context.

And tell me how kuluveski and bentancur is a makeup and not an upgrade using said explanation.

Thank you cool
Makeup is replacing an injured player, or adding to a position lacking personnel. Replacing Auba for example would be a makeup. Signing Tavares as a backup for Tierney was a makeup. Signing Odegaard due to lack of AM is a makeup.

An upgrade is adding a player to displace another none performing. For example, Ramsdale for Leno was an upgrade. Gabriel and White was an upgrade to Mustafi and co.

A restructuring is adding players to change formation or the dynamics of a team. This is rare. Man City once did a restructuring when Pep joined. Chelsea did when Mourinho joined. Klopp too did one to suit his gengen pressing.

One thing I like about you is you like turning Amala u always accuses one off, back to the bolded part, you agreed unconsciously to my rant.

Does the coaching crew makeup for injury, fatigue, unnecessary bookings, fart brain of players and or lost of form? NO, at the expense of bottling Top4.

Raising the issue of only competing in league as an evidence to not strengthen is not good enough and should be discarded as we are seeing the way things is panning out already.

Consequently, if we secured Top4 at the end of the season which everybody want, thus, you can say the decision of the coaching is damn right, however, if they failed to secure the Top4, the decision not to strengthen has backfired irrespective of any silly points raised by the coaching crew and or pundits.
No.

Please no, I beg you.

Makeup does not mean upgrade. Makeup infact is optional. Upgrade is part of rebuilding. No serious club rebuilds or upgrades in Jan unless they have bloody sugar daddies. That's because it's extremely risky. Except Newcastle with new daddies, no club did upgrade. Spurs did a makeup with Kulusevic and Bentacour, yet Conte still complained, yet they got beaten by Brighton. Makeup is makeup, but rebuilding or upgrade is a whole lot different.

We sold out deadwoods, could have made up with quality Vlahovic and Melo, but deal failed. I can't blame the manager for if a player refused to join. We only move.

Infact I prefer in-house makeup as we did with ESR last season and Saka before that. We did an upgrade on our defense which was very successful. Hopefully, next window, we face midfield and attack. It's a process, it's a journey. All I want from the team is steady growth to show the effort, and this is what I am seeing so far.

If finally we finish 4th or 5th, it's an improvement however small, this will create the platform for a MUST TOP 4 finish next season.

Okayy, o want to know your opinion.

Assuming we're in summer Tw. So if our first choice striker and Midfielder says dey won't come to arsenal because we're not playing UCL (maybe we unluckily missed out). Will you be happy if the club says since we've missed out on them, let's rely on Nketiah and balogun as our top 2 striker's and rely on our midfield depth as it is?
grin grin grin

You see, you are the one who does not take things into perspective.

The summer and winter windows are not the same. Summer lasts from July to August ending, and the season ended. So player movement is very easy and there's time to negotiate deals.

January window is right in the middle of the season when most clubs would be unwilling to lose their players. Deals are more expensive and the time for negotiation is very short especially while still trying to prepare for matches.

Do you remember short and long break in school? Or midterm and long vacation holidays? Na the same thing?

I do not personally regard the Jan window because it's just a time for makeup and not upgrading.

Just like you said we did good business in the summer. We have to wait for another summer for more good businesses. If the club fails to upgrade in the next window, then I will gladly call them out. For now, I have my thinking caps on.

We were out of all competitions in January apart from the league. Keeping and paying a bloated squad of misfits was more irrational. If you can't see the simple plan then I am sorry.

How Manchester United pulled the stunt of signing Bruno then needed to b study by Arsenal scouts.

You here still justifying stupid decision made by the coaching crew and visionless board, are you saying if they push for a proven DM and another goal getter apart from Vlahovic they won’t see or what, this ur point no hold water from my lens. You needed 2 players badly to upgrade your team and failed to do the needful and you here supporting the decision with u don’t want panic buy... I pray that panic buy will land us in Top4.
You are mistaken me to praise the decision not to buy and it's wrong.

I said I prefer not to buy than to buy and regret.

If I were going to buy a use car for example, and I go to see one and feel somehow about it, I would definitely suspend the plan till another opportunity arises. Why? See previous paragraph above.

Again, I repeat, Arsenal made genuine attempts to sign two good players- a midfielder and a striker, but the deals failed to go through. Those players preferred other clubs. So instead of panic buying the club chose to drop the plan till summer. How's that a bad idea.

Let me add that if you don't accept this then you are just being critical.

And yeah, the reason why we're in this table of points presently is because of the goals scored which cancels out the goals conceded that makes our point higher than last season.

Midfield and attack speaking grin
Last season we only rallied towards the end. This season we were close to beating Chelsea to third place. That's an improvement we all attested to. How is it that we forget so soon? Two injuries and someone is comparing us to last season that most deemed a failure? Na wa o.

I am not happy with the state of things, but we must channel our criticism correctly. Replacing Partey from outside would be easy, but doing so within will always be a huge task for the manager and players and I do not expect them to complete it in two matches.

only ESR is a worthy Sub Specifically for just attackwise or for direct replacement for Odegaard if Odegaard have injury.

Anytime you stated things outside their claims they termed you “agendist”, I remembered we told them if you have 2Van dirk as CB with Xhaka shielding him upfront and same Xhaka shielding erratic Pepe, aesthetic Auba, LacaNogoal, young Saka and Martinelli it’s very certain Van will chop lots of goals (it might not be embarrassing as that of Mustafi crew) but with time it will get worse pass Mustafi crew if attention is not channel to other departments.

Last season introduction of Smith boosted us, this season injury free Partey boosted us and gave us small hope for Top4 now Partey is injured and everything fell again.

Gabriel was injured we didn’t have much issues like that of Partey injury should tell us where Arsenal problem lies exactly.

A proven DM as Partey back up and a prolific Striker in January TW should be enough to strengthen this current squad to reach Top4 with ease and help prepared for next season ahead. Spy was at one time justifying the act of not buying any player in Jan TW as a good decision since our target failed to come smh.

I dey happy with our losses maybe it will make we fans to be more logical.
Your memory is sharp.

This is to let all those pushing attack/midfield agenda that there was a genuine attempt to sign quality midfielder and striker- Vlahovic, in January. Our lack of European commitment spoiled those moves.

In times past we would have panicked and signed rubbish just to meet the demand, but this time we showed foresight and refocused on the team.

I prefer this. I prefer that we can have a go again next window from a fresh start rather than whine about how bad those signings would have become and being forced to work them out (see Pepe).

We were just unfortunate, but it will definitely pay off. There will be so much room for two or three strikers next season. That's more refreshing.

Lol, clubs have missed their best player and still performed well. It all depends on the quality substitute to fill in the role.

For example, this season my contender for the best player's award will be Partey or Saka. Now in my opinion, I might say Saka is the best player but if I'm to choose between Saka and Partey who I can do without for a few months, I'll probably not want to lose Partey.

And the reason is simple, If Saka replacement is ESR or Martinelli we won't collapse, but who will replace Partey and we won't feel his impact much? There lies the issue.

And that's also the main reason Liverpool never look out of sort when Mane and Salah went to afcon cos their quality replacement helped to see the team through.
Losing your best player(s) will always have psychological effect. How you handle this determines how the next game(s) pan out. Good teams have better mental strength.

You need to watch the highlights of that match and tell me if not for Foster, we would have won that match.

Its just that time is of big essence if not you would see that these same set of players will beat all those teams they lost to once they get used to not having Partey.

I have seen that match over again and can tell you categorically that their problem is a mental/psychological one.

Time will tell.

A City with De Bruyne will not lose to Liverpool in a semi final.

If Liverpool loses Salah or Mane, it will definitely affect them, unless the rest quickly pick themselves up.

Arsenal team has just been managing to pull through, but losing Partey will always be a huge blow.

They will be back if they can get their heads straight, and quickly enough.

I have been fortunate to be able to read games and correctly predict player contributions. I can confidently tell you that the problem with this team is mainly mental attitude.
Jencejyde has cried about this time and again (even though I accused him of being critical) but he was very correct. Once they get their heads up, and pick up the fighting attitude, the likes of Saka, Martinelli, Odegaard, Gabriel, White etc can still rally this team.
