Lokonga is the main target and he is completely marked out and Gabriel can't think of other options. Even Lacazette can't drop into midfield since he claims to be a false 9 to create the overload, Brighton are using 351 to dominate the middle. They know our weakness will be blocking Lokonga. |

Good Morning This negates the basis for evolution as according to the theory we will always naturally develop into higher animals based on selection. But apart from this and humans, monkeys aren't equally evolving into pseudo humans as we did and neither are mosquitoes etc. Evolution is the most senseless theory ever proposed by science not even convincing enough to a lay man. |

Well we can agree to disagree on that but in my opinion, they seem to have done better in terms of recruitment and play under the current circumstances but never near Arsenal in totality of Club history.
You forgot to mention even the loss against city at the Emirates which I said personally was one of the best performances I have seen of this team so far even though it was a defeat. Acknowledged regardless.

Roland17: Throway this rubbish inside LAWMA trash, no pun intended! You guys are not going to bully everyone into group thinking on this thread, that I will never stand for or tolerate. Who are you to question the rationale behind his school of thought or the intelligence behind his position? Who are you to question his degree of Arsenal fanatism/ fandom? Come on man!
You can debate his position without necessarily doing that because it is absolutely unnecessary. You don’t tolerate it when others have done it to you on this thread but you are dishing it here on someone because he holds a different position you guys are trying to kill on this thread.
His criticism doesn’t stop him from supporting/ rooting for Arsenal every time we play! It has become sad to read over and over again how it automatically means he wants Arsenal to fail or lose because he thinks differently about how the team is progressing. You see, you are making the same errors you accuse me of. But I am not taking it seriously. Generally, people who criticise others hate to be criticised themselves because it exposes the same weaknesses they call others for. You call my response trash, and expect that I should treat yours or other people's opinions with respect? If you are not willing to get hit by my criticism you can as well stay silent. If anybody's criticism doesn't go well with me, I will criticise them in the same manner they have criticized others. If you don't like to be criticised then don't criticise. That bros came here just to criticise, and I questioned his criticism using his own logic which he now feels it is an attack on his personality. That's funny because he also attacked the player's personalities. This logic is simple. You have to apologize to me. I am demanding it as soon as you get this memo. |

Jencejyde: Show me where I specifically said there has been no progress ? I mentioned the team not being good enough and showing poor attitude in crucial games given the situation we are in. There is no pointless point here.
Never used Spurs as a role model but simply alluded to the fact that during the window they did go out there and got what they feel was needed to push for the top four spot and in my opinion they have done well so far...
If the players showed the attitude required we won't be here discussing this ... If you want to discuss Arsenal and Tactics and what not then be my guest but please do not resort to personal attacks, It would amount to nothing absolutely nothing Your first paragraph explains itself. Probably you didn't know that by using Spurs as an example, it makes them the model or yardstick. May be it's my understanding, but I believe that's what it is. Even at that Spurs aren't doing better. So let's keep that aside, since you deny it. The players have shown the attitude but you are not seeing it. I have listed some matches which we won based solely on doggedness and hard fighting. Please acknowledge the examples. I'll surely enjoy talking tactics with you. We are good. |

Jencejyde: Nah, I forgot nothing. It took some harsh critism and drastic changes in especially in personell which saw the emergence of the likes of ESR and benching Pepe to bring out some positives.
Against wolves and Watford and Leicester, they showed the right mentality which is required consistently and not we having to argue if the ref was mad to send off martineli for two bookable offences all week simply because we are playing wolves... Being the Youngest team in the league is not an excuse, whose fault is that? everyone had two windows to recruit and wailing on that fact is meaningless. We know we need experience to back up this promising young lads who have done extremely well to get us here but again we faltered as a club while The totenham you mentioned did what was required without moaning or complaining and the results are there to see in how they are playing now.
Saying I appeared from nowhere is your personal opinion as I chose to engage only when deemed necessary as some discussions at times are better off reading rather than engaging. I see the game from a playing view and management view just as much as the ordinary fans view but I lean towards the previous two more.
I cannot for the life of me keep on making excuses year after year when defined goals and objectives to be successful at the end of every season with a target in mind should be the only thing.
I understand more than most having played sports all my life and even now (pickup games on the weekends to keep fit) that no matter what you do, there are days you will lose and there are days you will just play badly. What is not acceptable is having too many of those days and letting it cost you from winning laurels. This team is far too inconsistent and not doing themselves any favour with poor displays at this crucial point in time. What is most annoying is that this is the only and I repeat the only thing we are playing for and it's not winning the league but just a place in the champions league. There is no Fa cup, Carling cup, eroupa or anything. How hard can it be to ask for consistent performances right now.
In sports the game you have played (win or lose ) becomes the past immediately the final whistle is blown and the next game becomes your most important one if you intend to be a champion. No one cares the 6-0 you won the day before only to lose a semifinal that would have given you a medal or trophy.
No lyrics or anything will change when they win or lose, We all as fans and supporters of this club right from the 90's will never wish Arsenal bad and will still remain a lifelong fan even in relegation but we will speak the hard truths all day everyday. We will enjoy the great moments and positively critic the poor ones in a bid for them not to re occur.
I can go further into some flawed tactics and me a person watching arsenal not understanding why on earth our pressing is still not up to par for us to keep balance of play and control withing a 40 to 60 percent range at all times whether in possession in our defensive, mid or attacking third as well as when out of possession in the same defensive, mid or attacking third. Well this may be another discussion for another day though.
But one thing is clear in a this that for some of us here, a time has to come when we get back to those acceptable levels and not give excuses for nothing. A Manu fan and Barca fan given the heights they have attained will never accept what's happening at their clubs and rightly so. Same should be expected of us as Arsenal fans .
Back in the day when I watched Nigeria play against African teams, it was not the result I was watching to see but how many goals The great Rashidi Yekini will score because the expected outcome as always was a win and those times the team hardly ever disappointed. If you don't get this then forgerrr about it. Lol...This is where some of us as fans of this great club are and cannot just accept what's happening no matter how we paint it to look. Your point becomes pointless if you claim there's been no progress this season. Knowing where we were coming from, these lads only deserve at least some encouragement and not vague criticism like you have just done. Tottenham which you served us as to be our new role models are still placed in the same points as us even with an extra game. Worse still they haven't won anything better than us in the last couple of years. This is typical Nigerian mentality where we feel the grass is always greener as long as it's not on this side. In terms of attitude, yours is extremely poor because it reads pessimism. Imagine if our players have this same attitude, surely they would have all abandoned the project after the first three matches of the season. It's sad really that you think like this and even have support of any kind. If you were another fansided I would call you a troll, because this your mindset has no atom of support much less someone who claims to be a fan since the 90s. Anybody wey say Owerri nor good, make him pack commot. By God's grace and more effort, we will finish top 4 and I will love to see you eat your words. |

Jencejyde: Lol no worries on the harsh words. Well I still remain in my opinion that this team is far from good enough knowing the arsenal I supported growing up. A game in hand means nothing until it's played and the results are gained. As every fan out there, I am desperate for this team to be successfull but not deluded by ... I understand your point on the attitude on that match day. But you look to forget easily. What about against Wolves, two legs, and against Watford, Leicester etc You forget that THIS team is the youngest in the league. They are bound to make mistakes as they grow. You forget that top 4 was not what we were thinking when the league started after they got hammered by Brentford before losing two more in a row. They were rock bottom and Spurs that we are challenging now for 4th place were top of the league. But suddenly we expect them to be like the invincibles? You forget those winning runs that brought us challenging for top 4, and one game, you appear from no where to make a post you have been nursing for some time without any opportunities to release. Well you have found a good time. But let we warn you that we will still drop points but so also every other team including that Liverpool or Man City you mentioned. At least when they play each other. That's life and soccer. We all go dey here when your lyrics will change. |

Jodera: He wasn't in form then
But on a serious note, even during the pivot Partey wasn't that bad alongside Xhaka this season. He was just 6/10 when paired with lokonga than the 9/10s he's been giving with Xhaka.
I feel he blends more with Xhaka than Lokonga I agree. No one seems to blend well with Lokonga. Probably this is because he lacks good positional awareness. Hence my suggestion he plays lone DM. Another option is to play Elneny and Xhaka double pivot. But I don't trust Elneny much. This will also mean dependence on Tavares to hold that LB position. Tavares' performance against Palace was just terrible mehn. As for Partey, I don't think it's loss of form earlier in the season. It's just tactical adjustment. |

Jodera: Lol, shey your food Don done?
Anyways, if you were to choose formation and personnel for next game, what will it be? It's not that Nketiah is my type, but I feel he can offer us something better than Laca is doing especially the threat of scoring as he is a poacher kind of striker, so with consistent game time I believe he will deliver. As for the formation, we should stick with the 4-1-4-1 ...................... Nketiah ................... Martinelli.... ESR.... Odegaard... Saka ......................... Lokonga..................... Xhaka..... Gabriel...... White ..... Cedric Xhaka will be restricted from overlapping. Tavares can come in for ESR/Martinelli as Xhaka moves to attacking midfield. Lacazette for Nketiah. Pepe for Saka/Martinelli/ESR/Odegaard. Tavares needs time to become competitive. |

mostob: No..this guy is great with his leg...infact his long passes are just so accurate. You remember a particular match where he lost the ball twice and our opponent scored on both ocassions, that's what I'm worried about. As a lone DM, can he withstand the pressure when pressed? Partey being kind of physical is the reason he could play that role well. Imagine Maupay brushing aside Sambi as he attempt to receive a pass from White Lol. That's very possible. The penalty scored by Palace started with Partey losing the ball in midfield. [We can only expect that to happen more often with Lokonga. It's the risk in playing a lone midfielder that is not cautious of his markers, so the CBs have to play higher up the pitch close to him to mitigate that risk. This is something we already do.] Back to that penalty, when Partey lost the ball, Gabriel was meant to cover up but got beaten by Zaha. |

Jodera: Me too I'm even afraid of Sambi as lone DM sef, but the options we have aren't even encouraging either.
I'm suspecting Arteta might default back to 4231 back while giving tavarez last chance Can you recall how Partey was fluctuating while playing in a double pivot but quickly started shining the moment he was deployed as a lone midfielder? For most DMs, they prefer playing alone as it gives them more time on the ball and more options for passing. Playing in a double pivot limits the players freedom as he must move in tandem with his partner. Those who succeed as a double pivot are those who have mastered themselves. |

Another thing is that Laca have been in terrible form for the past one month. He isn't scoring goals, he isn't pressing from the front and he isn't linking up play. It will be better he sits this one out perhaps it'll refresh his head I second this motion. Let's start Nketiah. |

mostob: This idea of Sambi as a lone 4 no go work. His physicality is not there yet and he lost the ball too much. I don't know but I'll prefer we pair him with Elneny with xhaka at LB. Sambi will combine with Marti the way Ode and Saka do. Elneny sitting deep...Cedric overlapping with xhaka staying back to make it 3 man defence. I have watched Lokonga playing both as a single and double pivot and he plays better alone. It's just as Partey. Your fear is thinking a single pivot means lonely but that's far from it. In fact, a single pivot means more forward passes, more responsibility and more tactical freedom. |

Jodera: Okay, cool.
Lemme see how he'll do against Brighton at full stretch. Hopefully we win that match He will be fine if he can replicate that second half against Palace. He has to because his career with us will depend on that. I also feel he is a like for like with Partey in terms of their preference to be the lone midfielder. Lokonga was terrible when paired with Xhaka or AMN. Let me also add that ESR didn't do well enough playing as an 8 when Xhaka dropped deep. You see Xhaka eh, forget how bad his decisions sometimes can be, he is a really useful player for a manager that likes tweaking and changing tactics. |

We only have the league to play and to come up with excuse of international break, training regine, blah blah is weak and pathetic. Same Liverpool and Mancity that played on the weekend still went out to play Champions League Football recording impressive wins and still have other competitions to play in aside the League.
Its sad and truly it's a case of either how bad it can go or when it will ever get back to the high levels. This talk is outdated and obsolete. Seems you didn't know when we were 4th with games in hand. One bleep and we are not good enough. Guess same applies to Chelsea who should even be worse because they lost 1-4 at home to Brentford.
