Because they're one of core in this structure.
You saying the entire team have a bad day means I shouldn't call out any player is like you saying because we won a game, I shouldn't call out any player that performed well.

Partey and Odegaard was terrible ystdy which was an anomaly. I pointed that out and you said I shouldn't, that I should just forget it and move on... Haba Spy.

Even the way Blueray even brought out his points countering my point was even cool and we ended it on an understanding note(because he brought points), but you, you just came and dismissed my points as agenda grin

Spy Spy.. no be only you the match vex ystdy. Just calm down grin

NB: As for the bolded, Yes, most times. As long as those duo are the core structure of that team, it mostly affects how our attackers play.
It's agenda because you are looking for a cheap way to claim that midfield is what has been making us successful. As though defense and attack are just there for numbers.

It's like you have been waiting for when we will lose to stake your claim. But it won't work. tongue

The entire team had a bad day as you admit so there's no need calling names as any name you call is already part of the entire team. Simple logic.

Besides, 'core structure' (where did you conjure that from huh ) is absolutely petty as every department as a block is a core structure.
Singling out just two people as core structure means we can do without the others. If this isn't so then this new excuse won't hold water.

in Wolves game, the main culprit was Gabriel abi. Did we later go on to win the game or not?

Tavarez have a bad game, fine, I didn't deny it, but we can actually still win that game if we weren't dominated all over the pitch. I've watched our games (esp switching to this 433) and while I know our defence have improved massively, I still have hope we'll win any game if our midfield is not dominated cos I know we'll surely conceded one odd goal here and there. In fact, I made that statement even on our good winning run not just something I said ystdy cos of a loss.

I've always been praising Partey and Odegaard when they're on song, why should I keep mute when they drop a stinker?
If the emboldened has any meaning, then why blame two people? The entire team had a bad day, why mentioning two people as if they are responsible for how others play?

Are Partey and Odegaard responsible for the performance of other players?

Forget about agenda, I no dey come here do agenda.

The question is, was our midfield dominated ystdy or not? Right from the first whistle to end of first half, did you see us winning that game? Abi you dey expect our defenders to dominate midfield?

Saka didn't look too bad ystdy, same as ESR. The only person I knew was very bad upfront was Lacazette. But did Saka and ESR see anything to do upfront? No.

I looked at each individual game before calling out the group and I know why we lost the grip of that game was because Odegaard and Partey weren't their usual self yesterday. They couldn't connect well with our attackers. Xhaka was just his usual normal recycling midfield self, nothing extraordinary.

It can be fatigue, it can be international break wahala, anyone, but I knew how many promising attacks Odegaard and Partey killed cos of their wayward passes.
Calling out Partey and Odegaard when the main culprit was Tavares sounds like agenda to me.

We were dominated all round in that first half. From goalkeeper to centre forward. Saying that the defense fell because of midfield is agenda.

I have said it before. The day I'll get worried is the day our midfield is dominated and chances aren't coming. Today was one of such days.

Odegaard played nonsense. Aside today being his offday and giving erratic passes and not being creative, he naively caused a Pk wen everyone knew that's what Zaha wanted.

Partey today was no where to be found. His passes erratic, his distribution poor and he couldn't even run. The duo of Partey and Odegaard being off-form scattered any hope we had from winning this match as our attackers were feeding off scraps in the first half.
Fatigue certainly, but it was costly today.

Lacazette have been shit for the last 3 weekend matches. It seems Watford and pre-watford matches have been a long time. Opportunity for Nketiah to grab, but he still haven't scored a goal. Hmmm

I won't blame Saka and ESR, they were mostly denied service from our midfield. The time our midfield woke up, it was too late as we were two goals down. Martinelli brought life to that attack too, but was silent as he moved to the other wing

Tavarez might just seal his fate if things don't work out well.

Hopefully, the boys become refreshed again during the weekend. I just hope they don't mull over this loss

Coyg!!!
By calling out the midfield you missed your entire point.

The whole team looked jaded. The whole team looked weak. The whole team looked disjointed. The whole team looked fatigued.

Was it their training regime? Was it the international break? There are more questions than answers.

The best thing is to move on, because this midfield agenda will not work here.

You are making fun of hitting the bar? Do you realise the technique he used to pick that shot? How many shots did Laca attempt self?

Honestly, Arteta will be pondering on dropping Lacazette soon. The earlier he does this the better our chances. I have said this before.

Palace are killing us with those deep flat passes that evade the middle and goes right into attacking situations. Palace's press has also been successful this 1st half, this has disrupted our quick passing and transition.

Hopefully, Palace don't sustain this same press intensity, which would give us the space and time to build something. Also, Palace have historically conceded late goals so we need to score very early in the 2nd. Ring the changes early Arteta...
Spot on. Our hope in this game is for Palace to tire out

I will never understand why fans will look at what Saliba said and claim he is right. I detest players with leaking mouth; those that run to press at every slight opportunity. yuck! Players like that end up being problematic irrespective of whatever talent/potential/quality they may possess. If push comes to shove, I will even prefer the club cash-in on him.

If he's improved as much he thinks/as being reported by French tabloids, Its no brainer that he will be part of the the bigger project(if he chooses to return to the emirates); whether he will be a regular starter is another matter entirely. There's absolutely no need for this so called shot he just fired at Arteta, if anything I believe this outburst will further affect his chances of being considered as part of the rebuilding going forward.

Let him just focus on playing football , get better at it and stop helping news men sell their papers. At least we've seen Arteta will use any youngster he fancies as part of his bigger project.
Just because of one small call up he wants to talk.

For me this is a bad sign. One of gross indiscipline and arrogance. We don't need such fellows biko.

Arteta once threw him to reserve just because of a game.
The lad need clarity before he commit, he's now an international player and should be treated with respect
Is he the one that needs clarity or the club? Who is paying who? Who is playing for who? Who needs to respect who?

Saliba needs to convince Arteta that he can play for a club as Arsenal. If what he is doing at Marseille isn't convincing then he won't be here next season. That's too simple. Going to the press to make a statement is calling for trouble. And I trust Arteta.

Besides, I am enjoying the current vibe in the dressing room. Saliba is too small for me to break that vibe. He is not even as good as either of our current CBs. angry

The only guarantee he will get is what others are getting and that is competition. Fight for your shirt or get out.

10mins is much in football especially if we want to see out a game. It's the main reason why ESR is always the first to come on cos he's the most trusted among him, Pepe and Nketiah. It's another reason why they won't extend his contract except he agrees to become 2nd or 3rd choice

He was doing his primary duty which was link up play and act as a false 9. If klopp really need a firing 9, he would have benched him for Origi who was a better goal scorers than him.

Klopp primary duty for firmino is different from what you're expecting from him grin
So why is he now on the bench despite doing his "primary" duty?

The implication of Jota benching him is because part of his primary duty is to score goals.

I've not watched him but from few reviews I've read about him on his loan in Boro, he's having mixed campaign. I know how I dey hear ESR name even right from Huddersfield.

One thing with Nketiah is that he needs to grab his opportunities and grab it well. He's seeing at least 5-10min averagely and while that's small but if he really want to usurp Laca this season, he needs to be scoring goals even with that minute. Even his plays sef doesn't even inspire fans here
Martinelli did it, ESR did it, Saka did it.

You saw the way Willock became fan favourite by coming off the bench and scoring winning goals even with few minutes he had that made Newcastle cough out £23m for his signing, na wetin we need from Nketiah be that
You are asking for too much. Give him minutes to grow into the team.

I've already said it(I think at Chelsea thread) that firmino dropped massive form after they carried champions League. His passes was erratic, his play was insipid (even in their title winning campaign). Klopp have to buy Jota to compete with him since he doesn't fancies Origi(who himself have a better goal ratio than firmino sef)

Jota who wasn't a striker at wolves blended at Liverpool too and added goals to his repertoire as well as doing what firmino knows how to do best

The question you'll ask is, why did it take up to 4yrs to replace firmino if he was that bad? Why wait till after they're UCL and PL champions?
I do not consider Firmino as a bad player. In fact I see him as good.

He fitted in well with the type of player Klopp wanted. The tactics needed someone to press from the front as well as drag the CB away from the FB so that either Salah or Mane can run in between the lines. He did that job well and it helped boosted Salah and Mane as well as helping Liverpool wins trophies.

But Jota scores goals and no matter how we want to consider it, it becomes a huge decisive factor in the choice of a CF between both players.

Balogun is doing better than how ESR did on loan. I am assuming, all things being equal he will be a big hit.

As for Nketiah, he needs playing time honestly. It's sad he couldn't go on loan which would have helped him a lot. I see potentials of a goal poacher in him. I would keep him for at least two more years or better send him on loan to Championship or lower PL side.

This is the point where we need to keep focus. The whole team must be focused and have a sense of urgency.

70-74points should be OK for top 4 and we just need 16-20points to get there from our remaining 10matches. At most 6 wins and 2 draws. We can make it.

Sometimes, I just feel we're all trolling here. I don't want to think y'all are serious when you try to twist all these things.
Sod who asked whether I've seen Saka played midfield suddenly agrees he plays midfield for us cos arsenal site says so.

This is the first time I'm hearing a fullback isn't a defender.
This is the first time I'm hearing in a 433 formation, the last 3 in the formation aren't attackers but Midfielders.

I mean we no longer watch ball but use stats/sites as our alpha and omega.

Wó, let everyone just believe all what they want. We no longer use attackers again in our games only midfielders.

Let's move on to other important discussion(e plenty sef), weekend is here.

EPL is back!!
What you have not done is to understand what Sod is saying.

He is saying that Saka once played fullback does not mean he is a defender. He plays there but that's not what he is. ESR plays as a LW but he is an AM.

Again, you did not realise that a 433 is also a 451 depending on how you look at it. That was why I told you that football positions are only really divided into attacking players and defending players. You start talking of midfield when you want to be specific about the area the player is covering.

If I say Lacazette is a midfielder because he drops deep will you accept? But if I say he is simply an attacking player, that covers the position is a broader sense.

Ah ah now!!

This is easy to comprehend na. Abi are we now twisting English again even as it's obvious, simple and plain?

How can anyone look at that screenshot then proceed to say Sod didn't say center forward. Abi CF no be center forward again?

I mean, this is getting out of hand na
In Britain (EPL) when they say forward they mean centre forward. They even call attacking midfielders as support strikers. When they say football they mean soccer. So Sod was correct in that aspect.

I will really love you to understand the angle a person is coming from before firing... grin
