Jodera: Partey won Arsenal's February player of the month over Saka and Odegaard.!!
He really deserved it! Congratulations Thomas His new role as a lone midfielder really suits him. It seems he loves dominating the midfield in his own way and not with any other. This has freed another position for Arteta to explore tactically. But he needs to learn how to shoot accurately. If he does that, he will easily be the best CM in the league. |

Jodera2: Mehn I'm not impressed with Isak again. But you see Umar, I've never being impressed with him right from his u-17 abi u-20 days and even to his Olympic days. I'm not impressed with this his recent afcon game and the few games I've come across in his league (on few occasions tho).
He's not strong, easily falls, not a good goal scorer, can't pass and personally he isn't a smart player for me. Did I also add he has a poor first touch and that he's slow??
If there's another Sadiq Umar please bring him but not this one I know abeg!!
Maybe I'm viewing him wrongly but if another person have same thought as yours regarding him let the person talk abeg, cos me e go prefer I use balogun upfront than to buy him presently Ask Sodiq, he is his namesake. Lacazette is giving me headaches, come imagine Umar ... Mtchew! |

Jodera2: Lol, I don study am oo, na wetin I been wan explain for Spy wen he asked me if my cleaner is doing a cook work weda I'll be happy with him. He's forgotten that football is no longer as simple as it was 10-20yrs ago where strikers are strikers and defenders are defenders. Now it's complex where by fullbacks are wingers, wingers are strikers, strikers are midfielders and so on..
Even keepers arent left out sef. Na time never make me break am down for spy I swear Will you be comfortable if we sign a striker just to be giving assists? I believe your answer will be no. So if that's the case then Laca is falling short of expectations. If Aubameyang had not left or if we had signed a replacement, we will not be having this discussion about Lacazette because he would be gone either out of the club or into oblivion. He is doing his best and motivating the young lads, but how long will that last? I repeat, once Nketiah starts scoring, Arteta will be done with Laca. By the way we play, he is supposed to be the end of the tactics, but he is missing chances and handing over scoring responsibilities to wingers who should be his support. Laca will not see another season after this. Let's bet. |

Jodera2: Only in your thoughts this can happen! Arsenal that lost a foothold/grip in that game immediately Pepe and nketiah entered.
You're funny So you mean Nketiah can never be better than Lacazette? This kind of pessimistic comments is what makes Arsenal fans look stupid before other fans. We never appreciate our own. When I said of Vlahovic, how good he is, you condemned my comments, that you preferred Isak. Now you are wishing we got him. I also mentioned Guendouzi, you and Sod attacked me. My football eyes are better than all in this thread. Only Roland can try. Remember we have a deal on Balogun? I am desperately waiting for you to bow to me. |

mostob: we were all berating Martinelli yesterday but he was not really fed . Xhaka only made 4 passes to Martinelli yesterday compared to how Odegaard and Saka linked up. ESR can play that role but his goal return might be limited and Partey will be exposed defensively. It's something we can try. Partey is really enjoying that sole role of playing holding midfield, and it has made him excel recently as though it was meant to be. If ESR joins, his attacking prowess will keep opponents watching their backs, as he runs very well with the ball. I hope Arteta tries this. |

I'm tired of seeing this Xhaka brain fart every now and then. In the current set up, Xhaka plays as an 8. I will like ESR to try that role, and make similar impact like Odegaard at the RW. |

Once arsenal sign better striker we won't care much about whatever Laca brings to the table aside ginger. They are carried away with the ginger as if na skills |

Me I’ve accepted Laca no go score goals for a while now. If we see someone better, talk will change. Its simple deflection from headache and tongue ache. By using the word accept are you saying it's ok? If yes, then why seek another striker? If no, then we are on the same page. I love the ginger Laca brings, and I see the effect on the other players, it seems even Arteta now buts that idea. But it's not enough. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Spy360(m): 2:36pm On Feb 27, 2022 |
BlueRayDick: I really do not understand why anybody will defend Lacazette's abysmal figures upfront by making excuse that he brings to the team much more than the usual ginger. This guy was signed to play as a striker and for 5 years he's never managed to score 15 EPL goals in a season. The funny fact is when he's not scoring he's not even up there in the assist table as well.
One would've thought for a striker who doesn't score maybe he's been sacrificing his goals by passing it to others in better position to score but alas that's not the case( if it were to be, he would've at least made top 5 assists makers in the league for at least one season but na lie)
A striker who doesn't score and neither an assist lord is not a striker. I can never Stan such player or make excuse for him ; he's simply a failure at his primary and secondary duty.
We did not sign Lacazette to just transition ball from midfield to attack and then it ends there....we signed him to score or be a goal threat in the box by creating assits or at least pre-assist
Make Arsenal sign better striker in the summer and save us the headache of having to argue about a "non-scoring-striker" every now and then abeg! It is well with you my brother. I am glad someone sees my point of view. Activity is not productivity. Any striker that comes in and starts scoring will easily bench Laca. |

daveP: Nketiah doesn’t bring the urgency like laca. I wish he had more game time though, but our midfield go sur......fa!! They’ve not been great at chance creation. Crystal Palace try pass us if na that one.
Last season and we move on to better things. But for the 15games left, barring injury, Laca will see more minutes than Nketiah. Bros, Nketiah is the best forward presser we have in the team. It's just that his inexperience affects his consistency as a striker, but once he gets his mojo just as ESR and Saka have done, he will easily bench Lacazette because he has the better tendency to score than Laca. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Spy360(m): 2:33pm On Feb 27, 2022 |
Jodera: This is the crux of the matter. He misses chances, fine and he should score more goals. That's different from you saying he brings nothing aside ginger and an out of form auba is better than him.
It's amazing how you bring other facets of his game then turn around and said he brings ONLY ginger. Except of course thev ginger you know is different from what I know.
And no, even if nketiah starts scoring goals, Laca will be paired with him upfront (na martinelli go suffer am). You think Arteta style of play don't rely on dominance? You employed a cleaner to clean your home. You return from work and find the place unkempt. You asked the cleaner, she says she has been helping the cook all day and so should be excused for not cleaning the house. That's Lacazette. |

daveP: Well with how things are in the Epl, not all Strikers are doing the scoring. Infact its all wingers leading the charts. That should tell you something. Funny enough, there are strikers with better workrate/goal threat than Laca but aren’t even in top 10 this season. E just get as e be sincerely. Its a Wingers Season!! A wingers season won't absolve him of his failings. But I hope he starts scoring, if not I suspect Nketiah will bench him. Had we gotten another striker, his season would have been over. I pray he rediscovers he goal scoring power. |

Jodera: So if you're not bringing goal threat as a striker, it means na only fighting spirit you bring??.
While I admit he should add goals to his play(I always say this), I won't turn blind eye to other facets of his game he brings. Watch how Kane played against Leeds today and you'll see how he could have easily won motm even without his goal. He creates from deep, helps Tottenham in dominating possession and help in creating an outlet for their midfield to transition the ball and start attack from the front down to midfield helping them to recover possession. And that's what Laca does for us(tho not like Kane). If you still thinks all these things equate to "ginger" then reason am again..
Like I said, while I want us to move on from Laca to a better player, I(and most arsenal fans) know he's better than Nketiah and balogun for now as against you who felt they're all the same Don't get me wrong. His ginger means a lot to me. It's good. His playing from deep is good too. But these are extra curricular. Kane does same for Spurs but Kane scores goals too. I'd say same if he does not. If Lacazette doesn't score, he is failing in his primary duty. You need to see his joy when he thought he scored Vs Wolves. He knows he needs to get on the score sheet. He is missing lots of chances. All his efforts will soon become null when go goes like 5 more games without scoring despite starting regularly now that Auba is out. You think he is better than Nketiah, may be he is, but if Nketiah starts getting goals from the bench, I tell you Arteta will bench Lacazette immediately. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Spy360(m): 6:17pm On Feb 26, 2022 |
Jodera: it means I wasn't wrong then. I mean, if na only fighting spirit player dey bring, doesn't that means he's useless?
It was still you who said Laca had an understanding with martinelli and saka(I wish I sabi dig up post), but now you've forgotten that and claimed na only fighting spirit him dey bring.
One thing I won't forget early this season is that we were always dominated as we were known to park the bus and being outplayed(even by small teams) while looking to score one or two early goals. We might win those match but everyone knew it wasn't sustainable and complained here . All that changed when Arteta brought in lacazette into the fray. Since then, we've been dominating and at least getting a foothold of the game for most parts of the 90mins. If you think it's only fighting spirit that ensured that from Laca's end, then I think you should have a rethink again...
And no, I'm not advocating for Laca contract extension but I know he brings more than fighting spirit or ginger as you alleged. So tell us what else he brings. As the striker, he should be the main goal threat but he is not. His play only tend to give others chances to shoot at goal, it is not entirely bad (like I said) but he is making us lose out at the most important contribution we want from him. Goals. If we get a striker that can score, you will see the best from the likes of Saka and Martinelli. They will be willing to create tonnes of chances. |
