AnfieldFan: Don't bother spreading uninformed opinions...You stated earlier that he has been outdone by every decent winger since he became the RB of choice...This is false as he has faced decent wengers ever since he turned 19(How many times has he been exposed?)He played almost the entirety of last season without his regular centerbacks, reined in his attacking instincts a bit,he still wasn't exposed....This guy has redefined what a RB should be...I won't bother defending him because if Klopp finds him good enough...Your opinion is irrelevant.... Though I wholeheartedly agree stats do not tell the whole story, they can be used to get a general idea of one's capabilities, great coaches make use of stats,so you shouldn't be writing them off....No wonder you refused to show me his so called piss poor defending via statistics..
For your info, Trent made the 26 man list for the Euros... What you don't get is that Klopp may sacrifice his defensive frailties for his attacking prowess. Other coaches (Southgate) may not. So the fact that he still makes the match day squad for Liverpool doesn't take away his weaknesses. We all love TAA when he goes forward. But his defending is what is limiting him and making others a choice above him. |

If u give him free role , the guy go ball. Then with lokonga/and the other LB. That's all we needed for this window. The way you hyped Coutinho is funny. Dude can't even stake a place in the current depleted Barcelona. Coutinho is another Willian. He may even be worse considering his high wages. Ask yourself, why would Barca ask for a straight exchange for Aubameyang? As for Grealish, City paid 100m to sign him. City are the defending champions. That said is enough. |

Fkhalifa: Pepe was already a media hype... Scoring 10 penalties from 21 goals in French ligue says a lot. The issue with Pepe is not that he is bad but that he isn't worth the 72m we are paying for him. That amount is a product of hype. We paid that amount in hope that he will be a Robben. But that amount should be used instead for someone that is already made. So I no longer want to hear about prospects from other teams; it's either they are established or we move. If we have to sign prospects, it must be at their current value not future value. |

ObaIgwe1: lol... the "scouting and identifying good players is not that easy" part of my writeup was referring to layman like you and I, not professional Scouts who are paid to do the job. That is just to buttress the point that you were unable to give me few names of players that are better than what we have. Established players are the ones well known, but Arsenal cannot attract them now.
So we have little or no choice than to go for potential young talents we can find across Europe as we did. And Like Edu said, "in one year - five sets of new contracts, and five of them are under the age of 23 for the first team. Then, in this period, summer to summer, we signed 10 players and seven out of the 10 are under 23 as well." “and We had 21 players exit over the year,”
Now in as much as I am not happy with how we got so low here, we just made a lot changes, we have to give the team time to blend and developed like Edu asked...
“I want to see the team play together and then let’s judge the team when they play together. Then, after that, no problem. Judge us then. “I understand the situation we are in now is really tough. It’s not an excuse but let’s judge the team when they play together.”
So let's give them time to play together before we wear our Judge robe to determine if the "talents" they got us na pangolo or good prospect. |

Akinbahm: 9ja no dey smile at all but we thank God my brother...
What I meant there’s no matter the load of evidences you want to bring on the table for Spy he will never admit Xhaka is not good enough for Arsenal and no point engaging him on Xhaka (specific) saga and not engaging him on other matters (generally).
If you notice self I always quote him especially during the “Defence wins you league last season so I do engage him but not on Xhaka case anymore. You don't read well, so I excuse you. People like you can hardly finish a book, but then claim to be learned. If I engage you in any argument, you would hardly make a reasonable point. So how can I stop? I can even say the snow is black and pick up the argument with you and still win. Learn to be more articulate and then I can engage you intellectually. |

Jodera: it doesn't cancel it out. Like I said, his skillset doesn't gel with what arsenal needs. He can go to another club and shine and I won't bat an eyelid, same way I didn't do for giroud. So we should make xhaka shine like the way he plays for Switzerland? As if Switzerland is one trophy winning nation. Lol.
He should go to Italy or Germany or any other club cos he's just at the wrong club thus both arsenal and himself are suffering because of it. And the worst part is that arsenal is the major casualty here.
1... His good passing range is just diagonal. From center to left or from center to right. How many times have he picked a defence splitting pass from deep?? Most of the times I see Pepe runs being wasted.
2... Positional awareness is average.
3... Tactical flexibility. Why I won't doubt this, but we it's not as if he's a beast doing the tactical flexibility ish.
All his positive attributes are average coupled with his limitations being very very big. How can we build midfield around such a guy just because he plays well in national team? National team wey no dey reach semifinals for Euros or WC.
Nothing wey you wan bring Stan xhaka go dey acknowledged for here. The guy is "just there" and we need more than that. You must know that Xhaka is not my type. Just that I chose today to be his advocate and if you see the post I made to ObaIgwe, I clearly stated it's for readers' interest. That said, with what you have up there, I can still push the argument further. That's since you agree that he plays well for Switzerland and so the excuse of him not playing well for us doesn't hold. Also, that we build our game around him is because he is AVAILABLE, unlike someone like Partey who's almost always injured. When the desirable is not available, the available becomes desirable. Before Lokonga, we had very few options in that position. What has killed the argument is that he has been here for long, long enough to make an impact, and so if he hasn't convinced us, then he is not good enough. This was raised by Oba and I surrendered. |

Jodera: The thing is Auba guarantees goals, Laca doesn't. Laca na outside the box him dey effective, inside the box, it's as if he's hiding. Oya chances to bury nko, him go miss am.
Abeg, no arsenal fan would take laca over Auba for now abeg. At least we know once ball dey inside box, Auba fit shake net The fact is that if you have to bet on who will score between Auba and Laca, Auba will win all day. So that settles it. Any argument for Laca will be that he holds the ball up better. Who then, who that one help? |

ObaIgwe1: While your angle of his poor utilization is a good consideration, but his inability to click under 3 different managers still leaves little to be desired. It might also means he is too static to a style of play. If he is good, he should also learn to adjust to other styles of play. Lokonga has only played few matches and not a few wish he should start ahead of Xhaka.
Point is, Xhaka has been with us since 2016 I think, and always in the 1st squad of all the managers, so he has been given ample time and the opportunities many other players didn't get to prove himself... few sparks from him here and there are all we see, nothing more.
I think we should let him go to where the team would be build around his style of play, we prefer versatile players here no static. This point wins you the argument. Kudos. |

Jodera: Can't dribble, isn't fast on the ball, he's not fast, can't give penetrative/defence splitting passes like a regista ought to give, can't transition ball. Easily dribbled, and if he's targeted then be sure of red card from him, can't cleanly tackle most times, reason why he's leaning to mop things up with interceptions or winning loose balls. Forget, you can't build midfield with Xhaka in a demanding league like EPL.
As for his performances with country, most of these european players are more passionate than country compared to club. Another thing I noticed is that Xhaka doesn't like arsenal like that. The earlier we sell him or he becomes squad player, the better so that make arsenal see road. If Xhaka plays well for his country, it cancels out all the deficiencies you listed. If you attribute it to patriotism, it is unacceptable. I do accept though that he isn't that classic midfielder, but we should look at other skills he possesses like good passing range, positional awareness, tactical flexibility etc. |

Jodera: Long and short is that tho Xhaka is a good player, he's not suited for a club like arsenal. Let's even forget his irrationality (obvious red cards), but his attributes doesn't gel in a team like arsenal. He and jorginho na same attribute, only difference is that he takes more outside the box shot than Jorg. Finish.
In a nutshell, He is just there, and for arsenal to move forward, we need more than "just there" players.
Players like Xhaka, Pepe (if he doesn't improve), lacazette are the kinda players that make arsenal who we are presently. Mediocre and mid table Prove to me that he is a 'just there' player as you put it. |

Jodera: Lol. Who told you martinelli is edu connect? Is it because they're Brazilians? Martinelli was watched/recommended by our chief scout then Francis Cagigao(now sacked due to covid palava). He was also instrumental to guen too, and Emery Okayed guen purchase cos they once worked together at PSG. Also, you can't say panic-buy for tomiyasu wen the deal was concluded in the morning. It means they've been watching him since
While I agree that those afformentioned teams you said have good scouts than us ,but at least, arsenal scouts tried in terms of scouting players. We don't need to get 500good youth players, at least 4-5 good players, blend them with the experienced good players we already have and also introduce good youth players from the academy. That's how big clubs or clubs who are aiming to be big do I'd rather be giving praises to the Hale End managers- Per Mertesacker. Within the next two seasons we will have some quality additions from there similar to Saka, ESR, Balogun Patino, Hudchinson, Taylor Hart, Azeez, etc. |

ObaIgwe1: Please go ahead. I have time today.
I have read about Xhaka's leadership qualities off field...But for me that leadership should also reflect on the field, like he does for his country. At Arsenal, I rarely see it.
I will like to read your opinion. The emboldened is fact. And it should be the concern of fans rather than throwing stones at him. Could it be that the fault is from Arsenal? Consider that a seasoned coach like Mourinho wanted him in the team and made deliberate effort too. He even claimed that Xhaka is the best player at Arsenal. While that will be going overboard, yet it is worth some consideration. I put it that Xhaka's inability to perform in the red and white is due to our frailties and poor utilisation of his qualities. Qualities that every manager he has played under acknowledges. Xhaka was in the u17 set that played in Nigeria a couple of years ago and for him to be still active shows his skills are recognised. Being a player that hardly gets injured, he gets selected more than the likes of Partey, but that I stead of being an advantage becomes an excuse to scapegoat him for our numerous failures. Shouldn't we be blaming the ones that don't get selected? Towards late last season, we saw Xhaka pair Partey and their partnership was exciting and hopeful. I believe that with a decent partner and tactics, coupled with his leadership skills, Xhaka can be a player we can be proud of. Our voices should rather be that Partey stays fit. |

ObaIgwe1: @Kokane (I have some spare time to type now)
I asked you that question expecting you will mention one or two names so we can analyze. The whole purpose is to let you know that scouting and identifying good players is not that easy especially when we cannot afford established ones.
Three interests have to be met, the buying team/coach need, the seller interest/player evaluation price and the player personal terms. A deal is only struck when all the 3 interests click. Reason you will hear rumour of a team after 100 players and at the end only 3 or 4 players will be signed.
Also some players are good but might not fit into a particular manager's style of play. While some players are like weather, today they are hot and tomorrow they are cold. Only players that have improved and have been tested over time can be termed established and right now, I don't know any well established player that will consider playing for Arsenal. imagine a player like Lukaku, he didn't perform at Chelsea when he 1st came, then went on loan spells at West Brom and Everton, before joining Man U, then went to Inter Milan and now back to Chelsea as an established CF... he definitely will not consider a team like Arsenal for now....until decline set in like we were being asked to buy a declining Coutinho.
I think we should appreciate what we have at the moment, not the best team, but we have one of the youngest talented team that given to a good coach should be competing for all available trophies in few years. Price aside, I cannot fault any of our transfer this season. Only 3 players I really want gone in the present Arsenal Squad: Uncle Kola, Brother Mari and Egbon Xhaka... The rest I believe can still fit in one way or the other depending on the opponent.
My wish right now is for Auba to find his mojo back, this guy was one of the best in Europe just few years ago and for Arteta to remember all the right lessons he learnt from Guardiola else we get a new manager and sign a new striker and I believe we will be fine.
As for me, while I wish, either by crook or luck or by any means possible we make top 6 this season, I have decided not to expect too much from this team under Arteta this season... But come next season either with Arteta getting it right or with a new coach, this team should conveniently be in the top with few more signings. Well done to you. This is the kind of analysis I want here. Whether I support your opinion or not, at least they are clear, rational and in line with reality. I hope Kokane to whom it was addressed can follow suit. I'll like to make an argument for Xhaka, mainly for readers interest. Can you engage? |
