There is a big link between Wenger's refusal to sign a striker and DM and the improved forms of Giroud and Flamini.

@Pataki, yea Ox showed signs of greatness early in the season, in my witty ways I had even compared him to Hazard. cheesy
He has huge potentials. But recently his decision making has been very poor. I mean very poor. He really needs to learn.

@Proudly9ja, we meed the WOBs especially to put pressure on the boss.
The point is when we compare him with other managers, even the WOBs should be objective enough to see some good in him and appreciate it not screaming aimlessly like a hen in the yard.

Wenger >> Mourinho + van Gaal

I have always preached this fact on several occasions, but only a few ears cared to listen, worst still from so called Arsenal fans.

In a season where one spends an excess of £250million and still faces a sack due to poor results and terrible display, and the other technically leading a champion team into relegation; Wenger with a budget of £11million for a goalie shines above them all.

If Wenger had enjoyed half of the resources these do, titles and trophies will not escape the Colney - not one season.

A manager per excellence, galloping when others falter.

So far, Jose has been sacked and van Gaal will follow but Wenger remains till death do thee part.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Spy360(m): 6:13am On Dec 22, 2015
Why Wenger Is The Best

Taking a clue from last night's game, City had a better quality in terms of personel, - apart from Cech and Ozil, hardly would any Arsenal player enter that first eleven by personal standards. But we beat 'em, and even with a better all round play - attacking and defending. That's what good coaching brings.

Despite the luxury all other managers enjoy, Wenger still keeps in pace not minding a meagre budget. Pelligrini even could keep a £50million winger and a £35million striker on the bench, luxury.

Could Wenger have spent? Of course he could, but a man who knows his onus chose not to. Self belief. Every other single manager would resign if not afforded the power to buy.

I wish all Arsenal faithfuls would observe this and show faith and appreciation to a wonderful football manager.

Trophies are nothing without impact.

How can he be behind ordinary Leicester? See struggle to win games at home. Rubbish.

Wenger out I say
Sarcasm!

Despite all the sticks he gets, Wenger has shown remarkable consistency in keeping with the best. With the huge shakeups expected in all other big clubs Wenger seems to be the only one immuned.

Kudos to the BOSS.

Better days ahead as we welcome Sanchez back against Sotton.

Brilliant composure from Flamini, keeping Toure busy all through without commiting himself. He is about to give Coquelin a run for his money.

Good game.

Ramsey will really give his game a huge boost if he can learn from Ozil on how to release the ball at the right time.

Ox needs to spend time with the academy and learn football all over again. So foolish.

The league is ours for the taking as Leicester welcomes Man City before New Year.

That's interesting because Pep is the most sort after manager in the world today.

I also think he is overrated.

If I had not seen Enrique at Roma and Celta Vigo I would have imagined him as very good; but as we can see, its easy coaching Barcelona. Just give the boys icecream to keep them happy, and they will give you goals and trophies in return.

Bayern thrives on the mediocrity embeded in other Bundes clubs by feeding on their life force.

Other Bundes clubs are feeders to Bayern which explains their dominance. That's why I prefer Serie A ahead of 'one club' league.

If Pep comes to England, and finds himself competing against 5 other clubs for both players and titles he will become humble. Or hope he doesn't get humilated just as Jose. cheesy

As successful as barca in this 2000 era they still change coach. Apart from arsenal tell me another big club that won't sack a coach in this type of situation Chelsea is. Bro what I'm trying to say is that Chelsea as a club has gotten to a stage were they need a coach that can make use of some of their youth players and still win trophies, Mou is far from that kind of coach.
So you don get sense? Na wa o!

When I was screaming this you were among those shutting me down, claiming Mou was the best coach in the world, he has won many titles including 2 UCL, blah blah blah.

Now you are realising Chelsea has more players on loan than all EPL teams put together. They even have players in other EPL clubs.

And Mou couldn't use any.

For you information, Arsene would resign on his own if Arsenal ever finished below 4th. Guess what, Arsenal under AW has never finished below 4th.

You guys were lucky getting Mou fired before Christmas. Championship would have been your portion in 2016. It sounds like a title anyway.

You have not answered my question

I asked you did wenger optimise the invincibles

They won 2002 and 2004
How come United cleared all titles bar arsenal in 98 and Blackburn in 1994

Very simple question

This is prior to Emirates project
I have cleared it already.

The Emirates project began in 2003, then Arsenal had stopped signing big players - our only signing in 2004 when we own the league unbeaten was Jens Lehmann (a goalie).

By 2006 almost all of the invincible set were gone. Arsene could only sign academies, then Chelsea already had a 'sugar daddy' and Man Utd was the richest club in the world.

That was the period Wenger was accused of operating 'brood and sell'. Some of those academy guys like Fabregas and van Persie, also Hleb, Cole, were sold out.

If you were not a fan then please don't ask me.

The day Arsenal hires Guardiola to manage the team... that day I cease to be a fan of arsenal... end of...

Just like Mourinho... he's a three season wonder... as soon as he's found out... he bolts... not one man-management skill... he suffers from inferiority complex...

Ibrahimovic, Eto'o, Y.Toure...

If you think Guardiola a good manager... can he fully integrate tiki-taka into Swansea or Eibar...

I trust the board... they would rather hire Gary Monk, Patrick Viera coaches who can use what they have to get what they want...

Anyone can manage Barca... the only reason why Tata failed was cos... his Man-management of the whole team was shitty...

Infact... his formation was 'pass to Messi...'
Kindly read through my post and comment. Thanks.

Spy360:
I do not rate managers by the number of titles they have won, I rate them based on what achievements they make with the available players.

For example, I have great respect for Ferguson because he won titles with not so fantastic squads. Ferguson doesn't spend much (as LvG), but he gets the best out of his players.

I respect Klopp, Ranieri, Pochentino, Pardew etc.

I have little respect for Pelegrini, LvG (he was great but seems to have fallen), and of course Jose.

For someone like Pep, he plays good football with excellent tactics, his problem is that he still needs big players to execute his tactics. I rate him for his tactics.

For Enrique, take away Messi, Neymar and Suarez and Barca will not be better than Espanyol.

Jose is more pragmatic in approach, which helps him a lot. His defensive 4-2-3-1 formation, requires big stars to execute. Unfortunately it has become outdated, and his inability to upgrade tactically led to his downfall.

Arsene like Ferguson vary his tactics to suit his available players. He has transformed from an initial 4-4-2 to 4-5-1 to 4-1-3-1. The good thing about him is that, his teams play good attacking football, whether they are average or big stars. Also his ability to groom (just as Fergie) is a big plus. Once with a complete team, Wenger went unbeaten a whole season- the only one to have accomplished that.

So if you ask me, based on current performance, how do EPL coaches rate?

Top 4
1. Ranieri- Leicester
2. Flores- Watford
3. Pardew- C Palace
4. Wenger- Arsenal

Bottom 3
1. Martinez - Everton
2. Van Gaal - Man Utd
3. Mourinho - Chelsea

Manager - Club (Current Status)

1. Jose Mourinho - Chelsea (sacked)

2. Louis van Gaal - Man United (about to be sacked)

3. Pellegrini - Man City (to be sacked after season)

4. Arsene Wenger - Arsenal (no comment)

Do us think arsene optimised the 2008/9 set th led for so long...

Ditto 2013/4...

Tell me your answer
You forget too early.

You forget that immediately after the team was formed, Wenger had to lose his biggest stars - Overmars, Henry, Vieira, Cole, then later Fabregas, Nasri and van Persie. All these without being able to sign top replacements.

Klopp suffered the same at Dortmund, which eventually led to his resignation. But AW stood by sacrificing his personal ambition for a club he loves.

If the same had happened to Jose, after 06/07; take away Drogba, Lampard, Terry, Cole, etc... The legend status would have been worse that it seems now.

Yes but then there was SAF's United. Fergie usually dealth with Arsene. I remember one season like that; I think 2002/03 when we were 15pts clear in March only to lose the title to United by 1pt after drawing the last game.

before Pep Messi was deployed on the wings, Pep made him the false 9 and his output increased immediately

Before Pep the highest goals in a season for Messi was 17

Immediately Pep joined Messi scored 38. Thats more than double

The next season it went to 47, then 53 then 73 All under Pep

Its clear to a blind man that Pep became the goal scoring machine he was under Pep due to the tactical change that was made to favour him

Hazard/Memphis/Martial are currently deployed as winger, If a coach comes, makes them focal points, play them as false 9 and turn them into scoring 38, 43 54 and 73 within the next few season making him win multiple Ballon D or and undisputedly the best player of his generation would it be wrong to say that coach made Memphis/Martial/Hazard
Messi had already mesmerised the football world before Pep. Even if Onigbinde coaches Messi he would still be world best.

My point is that, Pep was lucky to have Messi not the other way around.

Did Wenger make Henry the player he is? Or was he destined for greatness regardless
Over the years many players have either been discovered or 'formed' by managers. For example, Jose brought the best out of Drogba, he also was responsible in forming Mikel into the DM he is today.

Wenger formed Henry into the prolific goal scorer he was. Take a look at Ramsey, even his 'over passing' is a Wenger trait.

But for Messi, I wouldn't attribute his formation to any manager. Messi has greatness in his DNA. Give Messi to Amodu Shuaibu and he will still be world best.
You must also realised that Messi was already known to the football world before he made his first appearance for Barca.

For you deluded fans, sacking Jose may not necessarily be the solution wo. Any incoming manager may either be better or worse.

And if you are thinking of January transfer window, which big player do you think will like to join a club battling relegation? Even John Stones will pay homage to his manager for not allowing him to leave during the summer.
