Governor Godwin Obaseki, governor of Edo State, has sincerely been through a lot, over the past two weeks.

On the 22nd of July 2020, as a seating Governor, he lost the primary elections of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and as such, was not chosen as the APC flag bearer for Edo State's governorship elections, slated for September.

Going by Gov. Obaseki's recent brush with the APC's National Chairman, Adams Oshiomole, this was truly expected and I believe that Governor Oshiomole was already working on a 'Plan B', just incase he didn't win the Party primaries.

In a matter of days, Governor Godwin Obaseki, resigned from the APC and moved to the People's Democratic Party, where he bought a nomination form, contested in their primaries and won the right to be the party's gubernatorial aspirant. However, his problems have not been totally solved.

Here is the bone of contention:

According to former Public Secretary of the APC, Edo State Chapter, Chief Godwin Erhahon, the purchase of the nomination form of the All Progressives Congress (APC), for their primaries and the purchase of the nomination form of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), by one man(Gov. Obaseki), for one election, is illegal.

Here is what he has to say:

“The spirit of the law forbids anyone to contest for nomination under two or more parties in the same election or even start the process of being nominated by procuring the nomination form.

This statement, was made citing the example of the Supreme Court's judgement against the Action Alliance(AA) governorship candidate in Imo State, Uche Nwosu, who also bought a nomination form in the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Uche Nwosu's candidature, was annulled on the grounds that he had bought two nomination forms from two different parties. The same applies, to Gov. Godwin Obaseki and it is important to note that the law, does not change.

I hate Obaseki personal because of his behaviour. He's such a man that will neglect his role towards you and expect that all your obligations towards him should be fulfill. And ever since I noticed that in him have discredit him. Has of South West APC I will suggest that don't generalized because as it is he still have supporters among APC card carrying member within the South West region. So ironically, not all South West are against him.

Above all, you can't be good to all people some will see other aspect of you but know that the true identity of any person can only be known when you have power and money. Make use of it judiciously.

All what I know is that in this Nigeria some people are above the law in the sense that they don't use to obey the law of the federation of it doesn't favour them.

I would have agreed with Egypt on this but when they mention they are talking to Republic of Benin to withdraw their candidate so that it will remain Egypt candidate alone in the race. I come to conclusion that selfish interest is disturbing Egypt.
