Demdem: Foolish thread. Foolish OP.
Really the OP got his thread title very wrong, but then i see a lot of sense in the content of the Original Post. Fashola is being touted as a working governor by most folks, but then how much is he working? Renovating health centres across Lagos isn't enough, he can improve and set the pace for others by paying more attention to the number of Dr./Medical personnel available per 1000 Lagosian. I think the doctor strike sometimes back is being justified before our very eyes as they are being overworked without a proportionate pay to go with it.
Politics › Re: Tinubu Is The MAJOR Problem Of Lagos State by Standing5(m):
What i think Fashola shld be targeting here is creation of more Health centres around Lagos to go round its populace and staff these centres accordingly, but instead he prefers flashy projects like multiple lanes on Lekki and Badagry expressway. When in fact he can start off by building one or two lanes for Lekki/Badagry at most and diversify Lagos economy far more rapidly. I hope my people open their eyes and see what will improve their quality of life against what will beautify their environment.
Politics › Re: Tinubu Is The MAJOR Problem Of Lagos State by Standing5(m): 8:29am On Oct 15, 2012
When i tried to bring the idea of Lagos' small Land mass against its large population and income in another thread some labelled it as illogical argument. Fashola can only be justified when he starts focusing on increasing the number of citizen per 1000 doctor/medical personnel and not fixing all the health centre so pple can sing his praise, the population will continue to suffers silently. Mr OP thanks for such an insightful thread.

mapet: @ Oga AribisalaO,

1. Thankyou for puncturing that "Land Mass" illogic smoothly. I dare say that Oga Standing5 has simply contradicted himself.
2. With greater land mass an innovative government like Fashola's would simply achieve many things, key among them will be continuous and rapid expansion of the housing sector, opportunity to increase IGR in terms of property taxes, increase activities in the building sector etc
3.
Fashola had to go into the future some twenty years plus just to fulfil a PPP arrangement for Lekki and will likely do same for Badagry . . . How does such a person intend to handle the Federal roads spanning thousands of Km if given the chance? How does such a person fare in say Delta state where commercial capital (Warri) is some Two and half hour drive from its adminstrative capital (Asaba)? If Fashola wants to measure up he should consider delving into new aspect of good governance other than those like rail way and roads that are restricted by Land mass . . . And lets see how he performs compared to Oshiomole or Okorocha.

aribisala0: No one Is GIVING Lagos anything. In 1999 Lagos Internallly Generated Revenue IGR was Less than 700 million naira and today it is 23 billion Naira is that a state that is being GIVEN things? Lagos now generates almost 4 times what it gets from the centre. We must not forget that out of this Central fund is VAT almost all of which is from Lagos not to mention reenues from Tin Can,Apapa. Even from the Ethnic perspective; another Yoruba withheld Local Government Revenue for years ignoring Court Judgments. Why is Sokoto State generating IGR proportionately more than Anambra Kaduna or Kano internally today? Anambra and Kano are particularly disappointing given the huge volume of business reported to occur there.
Tinubu, and not Fashola, is responsible for Lagos state astronomical increase in IGR. If anything, Fashola has plunged the state into some serious level indebtedness. When you say Lagos state has increase its IGR from N700M to N23B, under whose admin did the bulk of this positive change really take place?

aribisala0: I am not an advocate of Fashola presidency so direct your sermon elsewhere. Land mass is NOT relevant in my opinion.
Thanks for your civility, i will gladly hold on to my views and direct them elsewhere as maybe needed.
