freecocoa: I love the passion I have with my partner and enjoy the sex but that doesn't make sex one of the things I love the most. That's the best part, the feeling of Intimacy. |
These people no dey hear word, they should know by now that there is no free launch talkless of free education in Europe. Only God know how many more never had the chance to narrate their ordeal in the hands of these ritual traffickers. |
The Suggestion of reduction of rice consumption isn't out of place, but we all know how money dissapear from our national treasury, all under the guise of one people oriented project or the other. |
kennytidistar: insensitive governor, let another party win any of those states they will withdraw their land without compensation, olodo lawyer!^^Really! That's the reason we need to know the conditions of these Land transfer and how the wellbeing of the original land owners is being taken care of. |
I think those asking after the welfare of the locals involved in this land transfer have a good case. What is in it for the locals who had settled down in the Allocated land? We need more transparency in these good policies. |
Gbawe: Have you studied, in detail, specific plans and ongoing efforts regarding what SW Governors like Fayemi, Amosun, Aregbesola are doing for the development of the agriculture sectors in their respective States? Do you think SW States assisting Lagos when they can comfortably do so, and thus fulfilling obligations of integration, translate to neglecting their own initiatives and drives towards agricultural development and local food security? We just discussed a thread a few days ago about Osun establishing Cattle ranches as a first in the SW and targeting the Lagos market !!!I don't think they have more arable land than they need, as they can always sell off their excess harvest to meet other pressing needs. They have a far lower population density compared to lagos and therefore, can afford to assist Lagos with some of their land while they are rest assured Lagos will utilize those land to the fullest with immediate effect. |
Gbawe: You don't have to be feudalistic about everything. Just see what needs to be seen for once. There are large swathes of rural Land currently unused in SW States with population less than 5 million (virtually all SW States apart from Oyo). From your talk that urges SW Governors to be protectionist, as if everything is now a competition, it seems you don't realize that regional integration means the exact opposite of your thinking i.e cooperation and beneficial inter-dependence instead of feudalism and protectionism. Lagos needs support and decongestion and it can, in turn, provide economically beneficial activities for others. SW States and administrators appreciate this.ehn ehn Mr. Gbawe, you don come again oh! What if the other South West Governors make use of the land? Will Lagos' population not still benefit from it, or why must it be Fashola who will have to wake them up from their slumber? I am not trying to encourage competition here, but trying to understand why no other governor could come up with such idea of massive farming before Fash. |
Eko Ile: Nothing is impossible with sensible and creative leaders with good vision and sense of purpose..+10 |
Advocate66, take am easy na . . . Atleast she is ready to put in some (good) work. |
What are the other SW governors doing with their own money? They are busy selling to Fashola and watching him make good use of their land. . . God help us all. |
ESUT! . . . A lost school |
oyb: Madam Chichi is gangsta. Excellent presence of mind and survival instictsI tell ya! |
^^^Most schools run their programs before attempting to get them accredited. It is practically imposibble to get a program accredited without taking off first. |
Same story from the usual suspects here. They actually allowed the report go thru some changes and now decided to investigate the difference in various versions in a bid to create an 'artificial controversy' out of something quite honest and genuine. |
olenyi: And all this noise and criticisms from ppl who doesn't even know the color of the said books back cover let alone read the book. How do u even start commenting or carrying out an informed review of a book u haven't even read. Everybody is shouting out loud to be heard, when they dont even know how many pages are in the book. Its not done anywhere in the world excerpt Nigeria. Pheew. (Shakes head)The author does nojt need to read the book as he is familiar with the happenings in the said struggle of Biafra/Nigeria. |
They demonstrated that they don't need a refinery during the January subsidy protest. They can afford to buy fuel for any price. |
Lagos and Ogun need to be merged into one single state. Lagos is practically begging for space to continue its expansion, while ogun state has space that can be easily utilized by Lagos for its organisation and effectiveness as an economic entity. |
Lagos must be beautiful by all means. Well, in politics, they say, "there are no permanent friends but interest". |
What makes a standard university? PLAYING politics with the education and by extension the future and hope of the country - the youth - is definitely anything but the ideal. They constitute the pivot of any society willing and aspiring to develop. Curiously, to some public officials, and remotely some misguided politicians, this oft-repeated claim about a future generation is another broken chord. There is no denying the fact that the Federal Government has consistently been sending beneficiaries of federal scholarships overseas to study - Cuba, China, Japan, Morocco, Turkey, Ukraine, Serbia, Romania, Russia and Algeria, among other places. It is then a surprise when the Executive Secretary of National Universities Commission, Professor Julius Amioba Okojie, attacked the Osun State government for sending some stranded medical students of the state university, UNIOSUN, to Ukraine to complete their studies. Okojie went as far as referring to the host university in Ukraine as substandard. The Osun State government magnanimously approved 98 medical students of the University of Osun, Osogbo, who were long overdue for their clinical course to complete their studies abroad on the bill of the state government. This was due to the non-availability of a teaching hospital for the university (it was yet to take off), contrary to the insinuation by apologists of rival Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that Osun State University Teaching Hospital had been cancelled. In fact, UNIOSUN had no teaching hospital. A unique feature of the scholarship is that it covered both indigenes and non-indigenes of Osun with beneficiaries from other states of the federation including Anambra, Oyo, Kogi, Edo, Lagos, Ogun, Ekiti and Ondo. The state government had proposed to upgrade the state hospital at Asubiaro, Osogbo, to a teaching hospital. The rationale is that if over N1.5 billion was spent to ensure the accreditation of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Teaching Hospital jointly owned by Oyo and Osun states in 2000/2001, the Osun State government would have had to spend no less than N5 billion to upgrade the state hospital to a functional and standard teaching hospital for clinical purposes to get the required accreditation. Personnel will no doubt pose a great challenge as well. It took the pioneer medical students of LAUTECH 10 years to graduate, owing to accreditation challenges. It is, therefore, laughable for party apologists to think that N850 million will package a teaching hospital and secure accreditation from the NUC. It is unfortunate that the medical students of UNIOSUN were stagnated for about two years as a result of non-availability of a teaching hospital for the university. All efforts made to get them admitted to recognised institutions like Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, University of Ibadan (UI), University of Lagos (UNILAG), Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), for their clinical courses had failed. Then, a way had to be devised out of the quagmire and save the situation for the medical students. In order not to jeopardise the students’ lives, the most reasonable option open to the Rauf Aregbesola administration was the overseas study alternative. The noble-minded progressive government decided to place all those due for clinical courses, that is, all 300 to 500 level medical students, on scholarship to complete their medical study in the prestigious V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, Ukraine. This policy initiative was reported over and over by both the electronic and print media. It was a public knowledge that the scholarship will cost the state government N146 million and not N600 million falsely and maliciously peddled by the PDP. The state government was very transparent about this matter. A total of $7,000 is to be expended on each of the concerned students. This would cover tuition fees, return air tickets and other logistics. The parents of the students would only take care of their wards’ upkeep while undergoing the courses. Clearly, the NUC Executive Secretary, Professor Okojie, misfired by referring to V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University as a substandard university. For a man who is in charge of granting licenses regularly to many substandard universities locally, this is a very interesting charge. If only it were true. Instructively, the university in question is one of the oldest and most famous institutions in the entire Central and Eastern Europe. It was founded in November 1804 and today remains one of the largest research centres in Ukraine. It covers virtually all spheres of modern fundamental research and incorporates the Research Institutes of Chemistry, Biology, and Astronomy, the Institute of Physics and Engineering, and the Institute of High Technologies. The Karazin Kharkiv National University School of Medicine currently has about 200 students on English Language training. It is the only university in Ukraine that has trained and employed three Nobel laureates. How many of the universities that Okojie superintends have produced Nobel laureates? The university has produced Nobel laureates in medical biology, economics and physics. No single African country has produced a Nobel laureate in biology, economics or physics. Nigeria, with 160 million population, has only produced one Nobel laureate in Literature! Okojie’s “substandard” university has graduated over 130,000 students and has several times been named the best university among the over 800 degree-awarding institutions in Ukraine. The latest webometric university ranking placed Karazin Kharkiv National University among the best 1,500 universities in the world. Not one of the universities under Okojie’s supervision is on the list of the best 2,000 universities in the world. The University of Benin that led other Nigerian universities was ranked 2,485th in the world. Yet, Okojie says that Nigerian universities are better than the ones in Ukraine. It is unfortunate that Okojie, a professor of forestry, who has been at the helm of affairs at the Universities Commission for seven years, has not achieved the feat of moving any Nigerian university into the list of the best 2,000 in the world. Yet, he was comfortable to make such derogatory remarks about the effort of the Osun government to secure the future of these innocent young ones, a gesture that has attracted the commendation of the residents of Osun State, particularly the parents of the affected students. President of the UNIOSUN Medical Students, Samuel Oluwatimileyin Owoeye, in a media interview recently expressed profound gratitude to the state government for the kind gesture thus: “We also thank Governor Rauf Aregbesola for making sure that our future is still secured and our dream of becoming trained medical doctors is realistic. None of us, (the 98 medical students) will ever forget Governor Aregbesola.” Professor Okojie can do without putting politics above the interest of the nation and the future of the youth. We should commend Aregbesola for not allowing sentiments to come to play in this great gesture by the state. • Omowaiye, an IT consultant, wrote from Osogbo. http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=102555:omowaiye-what-makes-a-standard-university&catid=38:columnists&Itemid=615 |
We all know how PDP wants the South West desperately. PDP you had a good chance and blew it away. They can only watch and wish for now. |
Vogue50: there are 6 states in the south -west geo-political zone , namely : Osun , Oyo, Ekiti , Lagos , ogun and ondo .Don't forget, from the population of Yorubas in Kwara, Kogi, and Edo, we can conveniently carve out Two states the size Bayelsa, both in landmass and in population, out for them to make two additional state. |
@OP, na you turn the tide against Hay-See-Hen ? Better go find how how Ala**** go take better. |
The whole thing is funny on one hand but then could be really as serious as it appears here. Someone is definitely at fault here. |
The state Govt imposes workers who in turn, impose poor students and standards through their politicking. The reason state Unis may get federal uni kind of funding but may never achieve federal uni standard of education. |
I don't whether it should be made compulsory but it should be made available always for those who want it there. |

ASUU flays alleged govt interference in state varsities |
The duo of Emmanuel Onyeka, a trader and Mrs. Chichi Obiajulu, a beer parlor operator at Aguda, Surulere, Lagos will never forget what happened to them last Sunday, in a hurry. In fact, while they are alleging that they were victims of kidnapping, the police is investigating whether their ugly encounter with a customer in the bar was a kidnap or ritual attempt. However, the man at the center of the whole drama identified simply as Chief Ibekwe, according to Police sources, vehemently denied the allegations made against him and his driver insisting that the so-called victims were drunk and they were rendering a humanitarian service by taking them back to their respective homes. Crime Alert gathered that the drama started in the early hours of the penultimate Sunday around 3.30am at Celenzia bus stop, Badagry Expressway. The main suspect, at the center of the dram, Chief Ibekwe had gone to his usual drinking joint owned by Madam Chichi and while there, he met Emmanuel Onyeka who happened to be an old time friend dating back to 25 years. They hugged, exchanged pleasantries and tried to get back at old times. They reportedly spent time together after which Ibekwe offered to drive both him and the bar owner home. Chief Ibekwe and driver The story took a dramatic dimension after the victims suddenly discovered that instead of being taken to their residence at Surulere area, Chief Ibekwe and his driver, Thomas, were heading towards Badagry expressway. They reportedly started struggling to free themselves from the hands of their suspected abductors. Mrs.Chichi succeeded in jumping out of the car into a swamp at Celeniza bus stop while her colleague failed. Thereafter, she pulled off her clothes, a white blouse and wrapper in order for her assailants not to recognize her. She was able to crawl out of the swamp naked and hid in front of a shop. Luckily, she was seen by some members of a Vigilante Group in the area who clothed her before she narrated her ordeal to them. It was learnt that while she was narrating the story, she received a call from the other victim Mr Emmanuel, who told her where they were after which members of the vigilante group succeeded in rescuing him also and arrested their suspected kidnappers. A member of the Vigilante Group, Mr. Afolabi Omotosho told Crime Alert that while they were on patrol at about 3:30.a.m at Celeniza, bus stop, they saw something crawling from the swamp into one of the shops around there. “Thinking it was a mad person or a robber, we drew closer only to see a naked woman breathing very fast. So, we quickly provided a cloth for her to cover her body, calmed her down and asked her what the problem was. She told us that she owns a bar at Aguda, Surulere and that she does not know what happened. “That she just woke up to find herself in car going towards Badagry, so she jumped off the car. While narrating her ordeal to us, she got a call from one man who happened to be another victim. He told us that the vehicle he was in was heading back, so I told some of my boys to stay at the expressway to track the vehicle down. When my boys saw a vehicle coming, they stopped it and found Mr. Emmanuel Onyeka. Madam Chichi and Mr. Emmanuel “When we questioned Chief Ibekwe, he said he did not kidnap the two victims, that it was because they were drunk he decided to take them home. The Chief also offered us the sum of N300,000.00 which we declined. Later in the morning, we handed him and his driver over to the Police at Ijanikin for further interrogation,”he stated. In another development, members of the vigilante group recorded another feat by arresting a notorious bugler while he was breaking into a sachet water depot (name withheld) in Jakande area of Ajangbadi community, Oto Awori Local Council development area of Lagos state. The suspect told Crime Alert that he has been indulging in criminal activities from the age of 12 after he was scolded by his parents for stealing N200. The suspect who gave his name as Jimoh Olalekan,19, was earlier arrested by men of the vigilante group when he allegedly tried to break into a sachet water depot. He also confessed to have been responsible for the criminal activities in the community stating that he also sell his loot to a ready buyer at the Alaba-Rago market in Ojo Local Government Area. Efforts by Crime Alert to confirm the story from the police at Ajangbadi station failed as the officers refused to speak with us. A source at the station however alleged that the suspects have been released by the police after making their statements. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2012/10/drama-as-suspected-kidnappers-and-victims-trade-blames/

how can Lagos state vehicle be diverted into OBJ's Ota farm like that? Are they suppose to ply Sango-Ota in the first place? |
One thing is clear, Fashola needs to slow down with his beautification Policies. There is no doubt about the fact that Lagos has been and is being cheated, but in terms of utilization of what is available, i think he should slow down with his pursuance of policies and projects that seeks to beatify Lagos at the expense of better standard of living of its inhabitant. |
