Andro Blaze: So despite ours (and probably your parents) best effort to educate you, understanding the use of quotation marks and basic English comprehension still remains an uphill struggle for you??
the [b] openin tag and ['/b] wrapped around text/string in Html is suppose to give a bold outlook and not give it qoutation marks.

Mr. Poster who is pasting the David Mark article, Mark is only playing his 2015, by agitating for scraping of State of citizenship status, he is only trying to win over those who are known to leave their land in numbers and find it hard leaving their host community. If he can win the Ijebus from the Southwest also by supporting creation of Ijebu state then he has a strong grip on 2015 presidency. All these is coming in the face of threat some non-indigenes are faced with in Lagos. Whichever way you see it, the thread is still focusing on Achebe's 'Fictional book' he is promoting.

The Igbos as we know, don't stick to legitimate and decent trade, if at all they dominate anything today it will be the organised importation of substandard goods from Chinese slave factories. Reading through Mr. OP's piece, i must commend the writer of such a wonderful article. Achebe should apply same principles he jugded others with to the Igbos and let's see how the Igbos come out, his double standards in the said book, if anything, has worked against all the tribalist affection for his people. Overall, i think the book is a classic fictional book.
Politics › Re: Biafra: Did Igbos Force The South South People To Join Rebellion? by Standing5(m): 11:44am On Nov 03, 2012
^^^Well we can only go on what we know; compare how your people (Ijaws) were treated by and have related with Igbos over the centuries prior to 'Nigeria' getting involved in our 'relationship'......compare that with the way your people have been treated by 'Nigeria' from the late 60's to date: Adaka Boro; Saro-Wiwa; Odi; distant desert oligarchs controlling your oyel fields; environmental pollution and degredation; criminal neglect of Ijaws in Nigerias' political-economy prior to GEJ; unfair oil revenue derivation; etc-etc-etc.

Of course Igbos were a majority in the old eastern region, but going by what you know of Igbos; their culture/values/attitude to work/sense of justice and republican nature.....going by all these parameters, do you really think you would have gone through what you've been through in Nigeria before you're recognized as political and economic equals?; do you really think your lands would be as they are today with no world-class infrastructure but environmental pollution and devastation everywhere?

Go to all the oil coys in Port Harcourt and Warri and tell me which ethnicity has been criminally taking advantage of this 'one Nigeria' (maybe things are changing slightly now with GEJ) as if say na only dem wey sabi petroleum/chemical engineering.

Shine your eyes bruh, as you're being sold the same dummy Adaka Boro and Saro-Wiwa were sold in the late 60's; whatever differences you imagine you have with Ndigbo are differences between cousins/neighbours and will always be overcome with a little dialogue as has been done for centuries.
The ss should thank their God because they are still alive to witness the above, when O'J declared them part of Biafra there was hardly any chance to witness above injustice.

Good to know that Igbos were integrated for good reasons from the non-Igbo point of view.

Elueme: You have exhibited some level of ignorance. I may not be an expert to proof you wrong but how about some posts of two yrs ago that I still visit today.. People's interest on the tour shouldn't be your headache, let it be Government's
Why not go comment on them and observe what happens.
Politics › Re: Why Are They Hiding Threads On The National Good Governance Tour? by Standing5(m): 5:32pm On Nov 01, 2012
Threads in Nl don't get hidden but are allowed to die naturally if people don't comment on them over time. It goes to show people aren't thrilled by GEJ's media crue.

The OP beat me to it, i planned to bring this topic up when during the dry season.
It is becoming clearer how much of a Scam the GEJ government is, during the rainy season we all witnessed aggressive talk of "How Gej's government has transformed the power sector", when in fact we know that high rain fall in Nigeria does affect the Power output positively.

These are all pointers to to the fact that a divided Nigeria does not gauranty the peace and progress we all crave as Nigerians. Even if the kalabaris have all the oil to themselves, it does not guaranty their progress.

Politics › Re: The Scandal Of Census Figures by Standing5(m): 11:22pm On Oct 29, 2012
No, think about it this way.

On Island 1 (northern nigeria), there are 100 women and 100 men. But the most powerful man takes all the women for himself. So 99 guys are without women.

On Island 2 (southern Nigeria), every man gets 1 woman each.

Would we then say that Island 1 will necessarily have a higher population growth rate than Island 2? Of course not...the size of the second generation of people on both Island 1 and Island 2 is purely the number of kids each woman has. This is pretty much just math. The fact that a woman shares her husband doesn't necessarily mean that her fertility will increase. At least, this isn't something one should assume...you'd need some sort of additional evidence to back it up.

Anyway, my point is, whether in Northern Nigeria they marry 4 wives or only 1, it doesn't increase the number of women available (at least, assuming women aren't being imported into Northern Nigeria or something en masse.)
There is good probability that the man with ~100 wives will get fewer kids from each wife, especially in a society that see women as properties and restricts them from certain exposing task like farming and hunting. The man's best bet to sustaining his biological seed will be the amount of male offspring available to fend and provide for the females. The southern family and societal values still comes out top here.
Politics › Re: The Scandal Of Census Figures by Standing5(m): 7:25pm On Oct 29, 2012
Also in the most southern Nigeria cities one can easily notice the rise in no. of new generation of northerners now migrating there. You will find them trading and driving okadas, yet there is no guaranty that these movements will reflect in the next census exercise. don't also forget the Boko Haram effect.
Politics › Re: The Scandal Of Census Figures by Standing5(m): 7:12pm On Oct 29, 2012
Everyday, we see buses coming in from the east to Lagos and filled to the brim with human being while they return relatively empty. yet the percentage of Lagos state population isn't growing. We all know those behind it. Combine OP's piece with the Federal Character Principle and you have one of the world's biggest scam.
Politics › Re: Igbo Started Tribal Politics In The South; Fani Kayode by Standing5(m): 10:01am On Oct 28, 2012
Abagworo: I still believe that in a level playing field devoid of allocation and the National character, what those great men stated is the reality.
What else do xpect if not Federal character? Igbo constituted 73% of top army ranks and still went ahead with Jan '66 coup. What else were they looking for? if not for the fact that they saw others as inferior and foolish. Federal Character as at when introduced, was widely acceptable to Nigerians because of the 'Trauma' the Igbos had just put them through. Unfortunately the Federal Character principle shares power and post largely on population figures, something the North has controlled ever since and has not let go their grip on it.

onatisi: my guy u are missing the whole point up,noone is disputing the fact that some jobs are better than others,it has alwys been that way,but what the op is saying is that many nigerians that are unemployed will prefer to stay unemployed ,beg or even steal than to do any dirty job or hard labour job all on the excuse that it is suffering, but take these same of ppl to another country they will do the job,the money they will be paid their will be of little value in the economy so why cant u do the job here.thtis the op arguement
Pls break it down for him. Nigerians are not known for being Natural in this aspect . . . Nice topic Mr. OP.
Politics › Re: Why Do Nigerians View Hard Work As 'suffering'? by Standing5(m): 9:05am On Oct 28, 2012
This is false.

White collar jobs >>>>>>>>>> blue collar jobs.

Visit any bar/club in America, tell 10 girls that you are a mechanic. Then tell another 10 girls you work on wall street...see how your success rate changes.
Bar/club? That's cos they are out to meet the 'highest bidder'. It does not affect the fact the average American/Non African regards and respect decent hardworking individuals more.
Politicians lie all the time. It is propaganda meant to make blue collar folk feel close to them.

Regarding the rest of your post, I think your typical Nigerian is pretty rational. Should he be happy about backbreaking manual labor, the sort of unskilled job his illiterate great grandfather probably did? That is not the sort of thing that makes one proud.
The fact that their politicians are lying tell us infact that Americans regard and see such people (farmers, mechanic etc) as decent and hardworking. It paints a gøod image of the personality in the eyes of Americans. I agree we are not suppose to be doing certain things our Fore-fathers did the exact way they went about it.

Gbawe: Man mi, you said and I quote:

Everyone knows why you said that. When shown pictures of bags of Rice you change tact rather than just simply admit you spoke hastily and without enough information. Look, I have no interest in discussing anything further with you. For one, your arguments are pedantic and routinely negative more than anything else - regardless of how you dress them in the toga of objectivity. Secondly, continuous discussions with you will only end in you getting personal and insulting mothers, father etc. Others are now "combatant" because they respond directly to puncture your assertion? Have a nice day.
Lagos state rice or Imported rice? Which is in the pix you posted? I am asking because i don't think there is any doubt about the existence of a rice mill but of Lagos state harvested rice.
