Garba Shehu, President Buhari's Senior Media Aide, has reacted to claims by Reno Omokri that he was an active member of the PDP Government for 12 years, which he turned around to accuse of looting Nigeria's economy after joining President Buhari's government.

In an essay entitled: ‘The real price of “change the change” campaign’, Garba Shehu who revealed how he joined the current administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, stated that Omokri’s assertion that he imposes himself on any government in power was totally wrong.

He wrote: “For those Reno tried to mislead, yes it is a fact that I worked in the media office of a PDP administration. Not for five years as the new-day pastor published but only for six months at which point it was announced on NTA news, to my surprise, that my letter of resignation had been accepted when I hadn’t written any. I learned of course that I was fired because the head of the country at that time, who believed that every published criticism was sponsored by an insider, read the weekly magazine, The News, and didn’t like what was written about him.

“Another point the “Pastor” keeps making is that he was my colleague at that time. No, he wasn’t. His boss was. The Reno I knew was a Personal Assistant (PA) to a Principal Officer like me. He didn’t attend meetings and didn’t receive official briefings as we did but ran errands for his boss.

“Not being a principal officer by status, he could not have had an office opposite my own. He may, however, have perched on a stool in one of those offices but I didn’t take particular notice of which one. He was, however, very personable at that time.

“Pastor” Reno lied by calling me an AGIP – meaning an unprincipled person ready to serve any government in power. The period he was referring to was one in which my boss ran into bad political weather and some of us around him were scapegoated. I was locked in DSS detention many times, my houses in Kano and Abuja broken into and valuables, including cash some of which were never returned were seized.

“I was going to court for two years and for the most part of which I didn’t have a passport. In the course of that trial, the judge presiding called back my lawyers, Niyi Akintola, SAN and Rickey Tarfa, SAN, after an adjournment to say that “I didn’t mean that he should be kept in DSS detention. I said he should be taken to Kuje Prison,” and that’s where I was kept. Under detention in the DSS I was stripped down to the pants and photographed head to toe. All that didn’t make one to capitulate.

“When they lost to Muhammadu Buhari in the party primaries, the candidates in that race, Governor Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, Waziri Atiku Abubakar, Rochas Okorocha and Sam Nda-Isaiah surrendered their media assets to the winner who had the grace to ask me to lead the media team. When we won, he (then President-elect Buhari) invited me to serve as one of his two spokespersons and I pledged 100 per cent loyalty to him and that’s where I am. This cannot be AGIP by any standards.

“Reno should stop lying, if only to help the pastoral calling to retain its good name. Otherwise he should quit the ministry.”

Few days after Big Brother Naija housemate, Nina addressed the break rumour which she is at the center of with her love interest Miracle, the couple have been spotted having fun at the beach.

Recall that few weeks after the show, reports emerged that Miracle dumped Nina after emerging winner of the just concluded reality show.  Nina, in her reaction, took to her Instagram page, denying a split with Miracle, stressing that nothing has changed in her relationship with the BBN winner.

She had explained that Miracle is a private person and does not like a third party in his personal life, the reason he has not spoken about their relationship.

Popular Hollywood actor Will Smith will sing the official song of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

It was this week reported by U.S media outlets that the popular actor and singer Nicky Jam will record the official song of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Every FIFA World Cup features an official anthem that is performed at official ceremonies of the tournament. Past anthems include Shakira's "Waka Waka" for the world cup in South Africa, Il Divo's "The Time of Our Lives," and Pitbull's "We Are One (Ole Ola)."

Reggaeton producer DJ Nelson told the Vibe entertainment news outlet that the duo are recording the big song, and it is set to be awesome. He said;

"Nicky Jam and Will Smith are producing the new copa de football, they're doing it together."

"They're making this big song and it's just so crazy."

The official song for the 2018 FIFA world cup is expected to be unveiled this Friday, barely three weeks before the start of the tournament, and is also expected to feature Albanian singer Era Istrefi.

Nigerian music star, Niniola who was in the news few hours ago for reportedly getting robbed of N8.5 million in a restaurant in South Africa, has debunked the report.

It was reported that her bag and cellphone was reportedly stolen, along with jewellery and cash of about 300,000 rands, which amounts to about N8.5 million on Wednesday night at a fast food joint.

Big Brother Naija ex-housemate, TBoss, who took to Instagram to disclose that she has time for retards coming her way on both sides, called out a follower who slammed her publicly over the royal wedding post she made, but came to her inbox secretly to beg.

TBoss took to her social media page few days ago to gush over Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, revealing she wished she attended the wedding. She shared a photo of the Royal couple on her Instagram page and captioned it;

“I’d have given any and EVERYTHING to be at the #RoyalWedding of Harry & Meghan Markle …All the same- What a Beautiful Love story. Even the Weather is in accordance with them… Dear Lord, may I also find such #TrueLove”

However a follower @draper_dee who couldn't understand the obsession with the royal wedding, said with the way TBoss took the royal wedding brouhaha, she won't be settling down anytime soon.

Two days after the royal wedding, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the new Duke and Duchess of Sussex have released their official portraits from the big day.

They were shot by Alexi Lubomriski, who photographed the couple's engagement portraits at Frogmore House last December as well.


Kensington Palace captioned one shot of Harry and Meghan sitting on the steps together.

"The Duke and Duchess of Sussex would like to thank everyone who took part in the celebrations of their wedding on Saturday,"

She has since been buried in Canada according to Islamic rites.

Prophet Moses Urovbu of the God Revival Prayer Ministry, based in Ughelli, Delta state, has reportedly been arrested by officers attached to the Delta State Police Command, for reportedly chaining and beating a 30-year-old man, Monday Edjedjere, brought to his church in search of healing for his mental ailment, to death.

The deceased who was placed on seven days fast without food or water, was chained to a coconut tree at the back of the church during the duration of the dry fast and was constantly beaten with a holy water cane till he became too weak and died on April 2nd.

Confirming the arrest of the Prophet, the State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Mustapha said on March 28th, the victim, Monday Edjedjere was taken to Prophet Urovbu for prayer and healing by his mother.

The Sun reported that the church General Overseer billed the troubled mother N24,000, out of which she was able to pay N8,000 and thereafter returned to her Awsha community home leaving her son in the care of Prophet Urovbu. He further added her return to the church three days after, precisely on March 30th the woman met her son chained to a coconut tree with injuries all over his body.

Speaking to newsmen, Prophet Moses Urovbu said;

''I am the General Overseer of God Revival Prayer Ministry. I started my ministry in 1989. I have a large congregation spread across four branches of my church in Warri, Ughelli, Ewu, and Bayelsa State. I do pray for all kinds of people who are sick in my church. It was the mother of the deceased that brought him to my church because he was suffering from madness. I admitted him for prayers and billed them N24, 000 and the mother paid just N8, 000. I put the deceased on seven days dry fast. He started proving stubborn and broke the church plastic chairs. As a result, my pastors joined me and we chained him to a tree at the back of the church. The injuries on his body were sustained while flogging him with holy water cane so that he can be healed. It was when the mother discovered the condition of her son was not improving that she said I should release him to them. I refused because I can handle the situation. Unfortunately, the boy fell down, collapsed and died. On that fateful day, I still discharged five people who had similar sickness and I healed them and they are right in their houses now.”

The suspect's arrest however came after the deceased's brother, Michael Edjedjere, reported the matter to the police immediately it was discovered that his brother had died.

''When my mother told me about the critical condition of my brother, Monday, I felt bad especially when I heard he was chained by Prophet Moses. I called Prophet Moses on phone and told him that he should release my brother to me to take him to the hospital. But the prophet refused, boasting that he will heal him. It was two days later, my mother called me that my brother is dead. I didn’t believe it. I quickly rushed to Ughelli Police Station to report the case and that was how he was arrested.”  Michael said

A female student of the Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, was today crushed to death by a trailer, while on her way to the campus.

According to reports, Kofoworola Kuku’s death has led to a massive protest by the students, who have blocked the Sagamu-Ijebu ode road.

The 300-Level Health Education student was said to have fallen from a bike taking her to school along the expressway, before being crushed by an oncoming trailer.

Reports reaching us at Lailasnews has it that popular Nollywood actress Aisha Abimbola is dead. This was made known in and Instagram post by her colleague, Actress Bisola Badmus.


According to Bisola Badmus, the 46-year-old actress popularly called “Omoge campus” died last night. However, Goldmyne reported that she died of breast cancer, last night in Canada.

Aisha Abimbola was born on December 19th in Epe, Lagos State, she studied Hotel Management from Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH).

Aisha Abimbola is well known for the movie scene when she played beautiful Isale Eko, Lagos-born Lagos Polytechnic graduate in ‘Omoge Campus’

Facebook yesterday revealed that it has closed 583 million fake accounts in only the first three months of 2018, it was also revealed that those closures came on top of blocking millions of attempts to create fake accounts every day.

The social media giant also detailed how it enforces “community standards” against sexual or violent images, terrorist propaganda or hate speech.

Despite this, the group said fake profiles still make up 3-4 percent of all active accounts.

In a report released yesterday, Facebook claimed it “detected almost 100 percent of spam and removed 837 million posts assimilated to spam over the same period. The report said;

“Facebook pulled or slapped warnings on nearly 30 million posts containing sexual or violent images, terrorist propaganda or hate speech during the first quarter.

“Improved technology using artificial intelligence had helped it act on 3.4 million posts containing graphic violence, nearly three times more than it had in the last quarter of 2017.

“In 85.6 percent of the cases, Facebook detected the images before being alerted to them by users,”

The figure represents between 0.22 and 0.27 percent of the total content viewed by Facebook’s more than two billion users from January through March.

“In other words, of every 10,000 content views, an estimate of 22 to 27 contained graphic violence,” the report added.

Responses to rule violations include removing content, adding warnings to content that may be disturbing to some users while not violating Facebook standards; and notifying law enforcement in case of a “specific, imminent and credible threat to human life”.

Improved IT also helped Facebook take action against 1.9 million posts containing terrorist propaganda, a 73 percent increase. Nearly all were dealt with before any alert was raised, the company said.

It attributed the increase to the enhanced use of photo detection technology.

Hate speech is harder to police using automated methods, however, as racist or homophobic, hate speech is often quoted on posts by their targets or activists.

Nigeria's Minister of Health, Isaac Adewole, who spoke on Channels Television’s Hard Copy yesterday, refused to criticise President Muhammadu Buhari’s preference for seeking medical attention in the United Kingdom.

According to the Minister who disclosed that he could not speak for the president, Buhari’s choice of foreign medical treatment was not an indictment on the quality of the healthcare in the country.

Prof. Adewole who absolved Buhari of any wrongdoing on the basis that he was not the only Nigerian that travels abroad for medical care, added that Buhari may have opted for foreign doctors in order to protect his privacy.

The Minister was quoted saying;

 “The average Nigerian does not want his medical condition exposed.

“He’s not the only one,” he said.

President Buhari returned to the country yesterday, after a 4-day medical trip to the U.K which he claimed was at the request of his doctors.  For nearly two years, President Buhari has been receiving treatment for an unspecified illness, which he has repeatedly refused to discuss.

President Buhari’s latest trip also comes after three weeks of strikes by health care professionals who are calling for better working conditions and more funding. The president’s medical trip also caused reactions from some foreign news media. Reacting to the latest trip, New York Times recalls that during President Buhari’s campaign, he promised to end “medical tourism,” the practice of Nigerian politicians receiving medical treatment abroad even as most citizens are forced to rely on underfunded state medical services.

Thus, for someone who promised to end medical tourism, and who has also reportedly urged politicians not to go abroad to seek medical care, the American news giant said: “Nigerians see Mr Buhari’s actions on health care as hypocritical”.

In its own reaction, CNN reports that President Buhari’s trip to the United Kingdom to see his doctor has reignited “speculations about the state of his health and ability to rule Africa's biggest economy.”
