Nigerian singer, Jaywon, has reacted to the copyright accusation made against him by veteran Singer, Sir Victor Uwaifo over his hit song 'Joromi'. 

In a chat with Punch, Jaywon who admitted getting inspiration for his own song from Sir Victor Uwaifo's 1969 hit, narrated how he tried reaching out to the veteran singer, an effort which didn't yield any result. 

“There is no way I can talk about my hit song, Joromi, without talking about Sir Victor Uwaifo, who we all grew up listening to his music. The whole idea of the song is different from Sir Victor Uwaifo’s but the title reminds anyone of his song. I cannot take away the fact that his song inspired mine. I felt that I should tap into the current beat making rounds in Africa with the song. My song is a love song and I also saw it as an opportunity to promote my artiste, Twist da Fireman, who was also on the song. He added a different sound to the song. I am happy everyone loves the song. I keep working because it is difficult to know the song people would love, so I keep working till I get it right.

The truth is that I actually wanted to write an official letter to Sir Victor Uwaifo about the issue but when I asked around, I was told that he was not in Lagos. It was just the title and they are not even pronounced the same way. I know what it means to tap into someone’s intellectual property. I would not be that stupid to take someone’s intellectual property without proper authorisation from the owner of the song. A lot of people do it but I cannot do such. The instrument I used in my song sounds nothing like what Sir Victor Uwaifo used in his" he said. 

Jaywon who also apologized to the Sir Victor Uwaifo, also called out other artiste who remixed his work without his permission, even though he chose to keep quiet.

“The truth is that I am sorry if he feels that I used his song without his permission. He is our father and I cannot disrespect him. I would be so silly to think of disrespecting someone like Sir Victor Uwaifo, who has been inspiring us since we were kids. In all the interviews that I had granted, I had given him credit for the song but we are talking about the title of the song and not its content. Small Doctor just released a song titled ‘This Year’, am I going to fight him because of the title of the song? Dammy Krane released a song titled ‘Amin’ which is a different version of my song, ‘This Year; Tim Godfrey released a song titled, ‘This Year’, which is like a proper remix of my song. Dammy Krane and Tim Godfrey took about 60 per cent of my song to make theirs. In my own case, we are talking about the title of the song alone, in fact, the titles do not sound the same when you pronounce them. But like I said, I still have to give props to people that deserve it and there is no way I would talk about Joromi without remembering Sir Victor Uwaifo. The reason I did not give due credit to him is that the songs are not the same, they just have similar titles,” he said.

Mother of two and wife of Peter Okoye of former Psquare group, Lola Omotayo Okoye penned down a heartfelt post to her husband, as they celebrate their 4th wedding anniversary and 13 years of being together.

There was pandemonium at the One Africa concert which took place in Dubai, as it was gathered that Ghanaian star, Sarkodie was reportedly attacked by Wizkid and Davido's crew. It was gathered that the fight was ignited over a supremacy fight between the two Nigerian artiste on who is to perform first at the event.

Twitter user, @esineymar who shared the story, wrote;

" Information reaching me states that Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie was unable to perform at the just ended One Africa concert which took place in Dubai. According to sources, When Sarkodie was just about hitting the stage, Davido’s guy attacked Black Nana by pushing him to the floor to allow Davido perform. Things turned violent as people received slaps and blows like free Wi-Fi. There has been some police arrests.

The main fight was between two of Nigeria’s very own artistes, Wizkid and Davido.
Davido expressed disappointment in the organizers allowing wizkid to perform before him. This obviously didn’t sit well with Wizkid and his people as it led to a big fight backstage.
Unfortunately, things got messy at the backstage which resulted in some mismanaged rendering Sarkodie not able to perform. Sarkodie and his crew were just caught up in the cross fire set between Wizkid and Davido.

The show had to end because the organizers were given the space till 3:00am."

A Nigerian lady and Facebook user, Diamond Sophia Oyemen, has called out her friends who reportedly trap men with voodoo, using their womb for the rituals to make the voodoo potent.

According to the Diamond, the ladies pictured below almost dragged her to the native doctor's house but she refused. Here's what she wrote;

Samsung has an anti-iPhone advert that mocks everyone who bought iPhone X, and it is titled 'Growing Up'. The ad which mocks its competitor, progresses through several past iPhone launches, mocking different features and changes along the way.

It begins in 2007 and follows a young man as he excitedly buys and opens up Apple’s original iPhone. Then there was a flash forward to 2010, where we see the young man unable to take a photo as his iPhone has run out of storage.

The iPhone 3GS is mocked for its lack of storage space, while the iPhone 5s is mocked for not supporting a stylus. For 2015, Samsung just shows a bunch of people standing in line in the rain, presumably for the iPhone 6s.

For 2016, Samsung hits the iPhone for not being water-resistant. This is an interesting choice seeing that the iPhone 7 was touted by Apple as being water-resistant and the device was found to withstand significant time in water.

Finally, Samsung mocks the iPhone 7 for its lack of a headphone jack and lack of support for Qi-enabled wireless charging. Of course, the iPhone 8 and iPhone X now support Qi wireless charging.

The ad then ends up switching to Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8. For one last shot at the iPhone, the now Galaxy Note 8 user walks past a line of people waiting for the iPhone X – complete with someone rocking a notch-shaped hair cut.

Following report that Alaafin of Oyo's son Tillaman was assaulted by a Policeman, the singer who sat for an interview with Showtime, narrated what really happened between him and the Police Officer.

According to him, the Police Officers who stopped him at a checkpoint along Abraham Adesanya, Lagos-Epe Express-way on Monday night suspecting that he was drunk, didn't even care if he was Monarch's son.

Here's what he said;

“I’ve had experiences with police but I’ve not had it this bad. At about 12 midnight on Monday, at a police checkpoint along Abraham Adesanya express way, Epe, a policeman asked me to park on the road, at a roundabout, I told him to allow me park properly to prevent being hit by another vehicle or cause traffic jam.

As I did so, he kept asking if I wanted to run him over, I told him I couldn’t because I’m friends with the police; he said I was speaking English, and called me a bastard, cocking his gun but I just laughed it off thinking it was the regular police drama,” said the badly-shaken singer who has promised to press charges.

“I wasn’t asked for my vehicle particulars or what I do for a living; they just began searching my car! When they saw that my friend was recording, one of them collected her phone and threatened to slap her.

I cautioned him for attempting to slap an unarmed lady and he threatened to slap me too if I didn’t shut up. He then cocked his gun and pointed it at my chest threatening to shoot me.

At that point I had to reveal my true identity to save my life and to prevent the public from getting a wrong impression about me. I needed to protect my name because anybody could have made video recordings.

Even after telling him I’m the Alaafin of Oyo’s son, he still pointed his gun at my chest, saying “God punish you and you papa, who you and your papa be”, he said, saying he could not fathom what brought about the anger in them.

“I had done nothing wrong so I was baffled at the way they harassed me. My survival instinct just told me at that point that there might be an accidental discharge.

So to protect myself I waved the gun away from my chest with my left hand, he tried to slap me but I dodged it; but before I knew it his colleague grabbed me from behind, squeezed my neck and ripped off my shirt.”

According to Tillaman, he suspected one of them was drunk so he had to be smart about saving his life from the drunk and trigger happy police.

“While one of them wrestled me from behind, I did what I could to prevent the other from shooting me because his breath reeked of alcohol; he was intoxicated and furious so I couldn’t allow him to continue pointing the gun at me.

Eventually, their boss came and quelled the situation after seeing my name, Adeyemi Adetona, Alaafin of Oyo, engraved on my stomach because my shirt was already ripped in pieces. But before then he was dragging me to the station, not until he saw my name.

But the drunk policeman said I was lucky because if not for his boss he would have shot me and nothing would happened".

Though a small number of Roman Catholic priests already exist including previously married Anglican vicars who have joined the church, Pope Francis has requested that Catholic priests be given the right to get married, a request which also applies to priests in Brazil, and is said to be on the agenda for an upcoming synod (church council) in the Amazon region.

The pontiff took the decision to put a partial lifting of priestly celibacy up for discussion and a possible vote by Brazilian bishops following a request made by Cardinal Claudio Hummes, the president of the Episcopal Commission for the Amazon, Il Messaggero newspaper quoted the sources saying.

Cardinal Hummes reportedly asked Francis to consider ordaining so-called viri probati, married men of great faith, capable of ministering spiritually to the many remote communities in the Amazon where there is a shortage of priests, and evangelical Christians and pagan sects are displacing Catholicism. He has also suggested that the bishops attending the synod in 2019 on the Amazon, now being prepared in Rome, should consider ordaining women deacons as priests.

In an interview with Germany’s Die Zeit newspaper, the pontiff said “We must consider if viri probati is a possibility. Then we must determine what tasks they can perform, for example, in remote communities,” he said.

In the Amazon region, for instance, there is just one priest for every 10,000 Catholics.

A corp member who got a job with a company in Lagos for her service year, which made her enroll her baby in a crèche whose name was given as 'Easy landers' at 3A Benson Anorue street Ajao Estate, reportedly lost that baby.

However the mind boggling aftermath was that the school's management are reportedly yet to explain what really happened, or visit the little's family. Blogger Amanda Chisom who shared the story, wrote;

The incident happened at Ajao estate of recent. A baby of 7months old was registered in the crèche just last September. And the care taker in the crèche suffocated the baby with pap to the point of death

This is how the stories goes. A woman registered her 7months old baby in a crèche called easy landers at 3A Benson Anorue street Ajao estate just last September cos she is currently running her NYSC program in a company here in Lagos. So on that faithful day been 26th of October,she dropped her baby at the school with the so called crèche teacher miss chinemelem from IMO state.just like in the next 30mins she dropped the baby at the school.getting to her office , she got a call from the crèche teacher that her baby was shivering and she was so socked and asked her what happened and the teacher told her that she was feeding her with pap at some point the baby choked up and started having short breath with pap coming out from her nose and mouth with a terrible shivering.so the mum told her to rush the baby to the near by hospital at faith city at Ajao that she is coming. On getting there the baby was already dead.

Meanwhile, 2days before the incident, the baby’s mum confronted the so called teacher miss chinemerem ‘why she doesn’t greet her anytime she came to drop her baby to school, even when she greet her she won’t answer her well. And miss chinemerem answered sarcastically that anytime she comes, that she is always busy. So she just told her that if she has wrong her in anyway that she should pls pardon her. Moreover .since last Thursday that the incident happened, the owner of the school or their teachers haven’t gone to see the parents of the deceased,even to show remorse or for condolence visit.As am talking to u now, the baby’s feeding bottles and bag are still in the school. They r waiting for the parent to come and carry them."

Following the sack of Babachir Lawal as Secretary General of the Federation and the appointment of Boss Mustapha as Secretary to the Government of the Federation, a member of the House of Representatives during the Second Republic, Dr Junaid Muhammed, has revealed that Boss Mustapha is Babachir Lawal’s cousin.

Juniad told Punch’s correspondent;

“Before you begin to celebrate the appointment of Boss Mustapha as the new SGF, do you know that he is in fact, Babachir Lawal’s first cousin? This is a continuation of the cronyism and nepotism the Buhari-led administration has become infamous for”.

However APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, has risen to defend Buhari after Nigerians dragged him for failing to direct further actions on the sacked officials.

“Few days ago, when the President directed the dismissal of Abdulrasheed Maina, some people said that was right but what about the suspended SGF, BD Lawal? But we as a party said look, the President is the only person who has all the information. All of us can only have one side of the story or the other.

“But the President by the virtue of the position he occupies is the only one who has all the information and he would do what is necessary at the right time, now we have been vindicated and it shows that the President has not in any way waived his commitment not to tolerate corruption at any level no matter who is involved.”

Similarly, the Arewa Consultative Forum applauded President Muhammadu Buhari for sacking Lawal and Oke. In its reaction to the development, the ACF through the National Publicity Secretary, Muhammad Ibrahim Biu, said, “The action taken by President Buhari on the report submitted by the Osinbajo Committee that investigated the suspended SGF and the DG NIA is appropriate and timely” Bolaji said.

'Mad over you' crooner, Runtown has been trolled on by his fans after he shared photo of his X-ray revealing that he accident which gave him a knee injury.

A Nigerian woman identified as Victoria Ibe, predicted 7 straight draws on Nigerian betting platform Nairabet and reportedly went home with N16.6M for her effort .

This was disclosed by Twitter user @I_PissVodka, who tweeted;

Facebook user, Ro Se, alleged to be boyfriend of 15-year-old Nigerian girl, Jero Loveth a.k.a Slimzy who reportedly committed suicide by taking Sniper over heartbreak, has reacted to report of being the cause of Slimzy's death.

Do you remember Lisa L. Flower, the American lady who took to Facebook to declare her Nigerian husband missing, alleging there's no satisfactory explanation from his family on his whereabouts? Her husband's Nigerian wife, in chat with Nigerian Lawyer, Aishatu Ella John, warned her to keep her distance.

Aishatu Ella John, who shared screenshot of her chat with Nelson's wife, wrote;

"So the Lisa L. Flowers vs Nelson En'ebary case just blew wide open.

Apparently his Supposed Nigerian wife saw the post I made yesterday tagging Jennifer Chioma Owolabi and Lisa, a summary of the case so far. That ticked off the woman claiming to be his wife and she came to my inbox and Jennys. She said Lisa should leave her husband alone and bla bla bla. However she seems not to understand that because Lisa married Nelson in a registry she is currently the wife recognized by law

Seems the whole family is in on the fraud and while it lasted they fed fat on whatever he could get from Lisa even his father who made the silly video, his so called church friends, his brothers, his sisters, all of them shameless beings.

Like I advised Lisa Earlier report to the Police and EFCC, hopefully she has a record of transfers she made to him while the sham lasted so the bunch of thieves can return every kobo and cool off small in prison.

It is not okay to defraud a woman because the color of her skin is different.

It is not okay for a woman to be with a man who thinks this is okay.

It is not okay for a family to be this shameless and stupid. These idiots give us Nigerians a bad name and I will shame them.

Please nobody should come and blame the victim here. This is a well organized scam all his family was in on it, see the pictures on her wall every freaking one of them. They must have made all sorts of financial demands on the poor woman and drained her.

I feel very bad for Lisa and hopes she recovers financially and emotionally from this scam.

I hope she also realises from how we all fought for her that Nigerians are not all scams and we do not tolerate or accept this despicable family's behavior as normal."

A quick check on the Facebook page, revealed that it was a parody account, probably set up for the purpose above. This coming after Nelson was declared dead by his father who spoke to journalist, David Taylor, asking Nigerians to stop disparaging or speaking evil of his son.
