First class is good but be ready to solve maths & stats despite your law background in the market. HR's take a close look at them,they think they ought to know everything not putting into consideration the course. My brother,I struggle to run away from it because of my experience before Bsc. I did get close though (4.47),I still smile that I didn't achieve it.

Let me tell you a story,my HOD in my ppa had 2.2,mphil grade in Msc and currently on her Phd. There was this lady that had first class from a college of education affliated to UI,their cert states UI so,she claims UI. The woman will bombared her with work even the one outside her specialisation,the lady wondered why all these,I said,lets check her class of degree. Lo and behold,we realiased the disparity was given her headache and she was trying to test her ability in a areas. One day,we submitted our application for retainment,she saw the lady graduated from an affliated schl. Since then,she had this hatred for the lady that before completion of nysc,she redeployed to another dept.

So,be ready to defend your class of grade at all times. In writing,speaking and other forms because they will judge and monk you due to your class of degree,they believe you should not make mistakes especially in writing.

First class is really/solely not about being brilliant but it shows how smart you are.

But first class is not the only grade for successful student.

Bro forget the 2,2 possibility and whatsoever. let him concentrate on this final year and work like never before, he should stop his bad habits and lazy attitude.
let him set goal(finish reading all my course very well before exam and revised properly during exam peeiods) and achieve them.
He should employ new strategy e.g reading in silence places, reading at night, meet people for specific explanation, take good notes, solve previous year questions etc and lastly commit all his work to God. Don't start putting the "is there a possibility thought in your head as if you are the one that would mark his result".

But if you're hell bent on knowing this here is the formula for most schools GP calculator
(1.35)(0.6)+gp4(0.4) = 2,5
make gp4 subject of formula.which should be 4,225.
Let's say your friend need at least 4.3GP

Note: Your school might defer, please me your course adviser or more experience students

Do your best and leave the rest to God.

I didn't like the OP post well enough too, he was ranting first class as if they define a hardworking student, try as much as you can to advice young ones that their only hope is to succeed and the odds are not worth considering no matter what it takes, only give them a realistic definition of what success is, so they don't misplace priority like the OP.
I see you are talking about reality but we never might know this reality might change so soon.

The place I stand with you is that your Idea help students to reform their desire to have first class for the right reasons and helps student know what reality is like and help them get there priority right e.g student should read to understand so as to solve society and personal problems not read to pass exams in hope of getting good Job(which sadly is not dependable anymore).

You're right tho but I kind of frown at people that make it Look like as student who has first class was way more serious and tactical about studying. It never was the case, there are a lot of nice scholar out there. Although anyone who works hard as to me should be able to obtain a 2,1.Students should be encouraged to obtain more marks in any courses they encounter semester by semester. Making a first class the pointer goal isn't worth it.
There are some guys in final year who would never make first class even with a 5.0GP and I know they are quick to dispose this post. I am saying this because I was like the OP who was singing first class to my Junior colleagues buh later realize that most of them frawn at me each time because some have flopped in year 1 and 2 and some are struggling with carry-overs. when I change my strategy of giving advice on how to tackle specific problems like "forget your misery", "It is a new semester to change and a new Chance", "You past grade don't judge your today performance". I began to see result and people began to find interest.

In conclusion, I feel this post is encouraging only to fresh students and sophomore student. It would become more useful if it title was rename to tell student how to achieve a better grade each semester or session whether they had previously performed woefully or amazingly.
