Family / LIFE AT 23 (happy Birthday To Me) by StarOnEarth(m): 1:29am On Aug 11, 2018
I had always picture 23 to be a year where I had almost achieve all of my dreams, be in the place I wanted to be an impact on so many lives already. I had a lot of escapade running through my thought while growing up, living in my head would have been the best adventure a person go through, If it was to be by my thought I would have gotten a lot of millions in my account which would have given me the opportunity to build a beautiful house for my parent, having an investment company that would allow me to invest in technology built by young graduate and undergraduate, I had thought I would go on a boat every weekend with my girlfriend so we can take a lot of pictures and get our ex's jealous and at the same time envy us, the part I painted for my siblings were awesome, promising myself that they would get what they wanted, all this I had thought but told myself I was not going to do something illegal to get them. In reality, I'll try to compare my present self to the picture I had painted and I would be so down, little did I know that I was a working process. Today as I write this I wish I could spank myself for the days have been so down about my level, for the days I had look at other people lives and compare with mine, for the days I had cried silently instead of praying, for the days I had picture too much and work so little and for the days I complain instead of being grateful because every single step I had taken either by choice, mistake or by accident has brought me closer to that height I had wish for, so am grateful for all the aspect of my life that I would be discussing on at 23.

MY FAMILY
If I had not achieved anything in life and I feel there is nothing to be grateful for, having a family like mine would give a lot of reason for me to be grateful, the kind of family I have is that kind that every other family wish to be like, we are so happy in little and so grateful in plenty. The love I get from them is so much that sometimes am scared to tell them that I have a headache, even when am down and so low they lift me up with words, food and care. If it was to be on relationship matters I would have been part of the people that say loves does not exist but when I look at the care my mother shows towards me, it is extraordinary, and am sure that is what love is called, so today am grateful I have a family like them.

EDUCATION AND CAREER
I paid so much attention to this aspect of my life because I knew everything I wanted was the product of this part of my life and if I had said I cried silently at any point of my life it was definitely based on my education or my career. Even most of the time I felt there is no point to be grateful for it.
Starting from when I wanted to write my first JAMB and WAEC, I wanted to be a petrochemical engineer because I know they got paid heavily, I was not even a good chemistry student, but I was bent on studying that course, the day I was going to write the JAMB I got there at 5am, all thanks to my mum but was still the only one in the center that couldn't write the paper because my thumbprint wouldn't work, from that day every exam I wrote was a failure. I had to settle for a polytechnic that would accommodate my failed paper and studied Electrical and Electronics Engineering for 2year which I then move to a private university that made me choose Architecture instead of the latter, no petrochemical, no Engineering, no more dream so I thought.
Now am done with the degree and I feel so accomplished, petrochemical would have been a terrible idea for me, I have a start-up that would hit big in the Architectural world, which I would not have thought of if I was not even in that line and I have met so many friends and influential people which now assure me that all I have written at the being of this Article would be accomplished, in this same process, I had developed a writing skill that allows me to make money from website a content developer and also an architect and now I am grateful.

FINANCES
I don't really have problem with my finances even though am making sure this level of my life is been upgraded, even though a lot of girls might have shut me out because of it, but most times I cut my coat according to my size which brings less problem to my life, "I no dey do pass myself”, in this circumstance am still grateful because I give more than I receive.

RELATIONSHIP
This has not been one of the brightest parts of my life but at least it has brought a level of happiness and serenity even though most have been temporary. Getting into a relationship is not that difficult for me but keeping it is the problem and the times I decided to keep it, keeping me becomes a problem for them, but this process had made me have a lot of beautiful and respectable ladies has friends which would always remain in my heart. For all the times we had made each other happy, counsel each other, visit places and told each other how much we mean to each other, am grateful.

FRIENDS
I know a lot of people but I have not been a fan of many friends but am grateful for the friends that I have, for the ideas we have shared, for the business we have started and for craziness we had gotten involved with. I have co-founder 2 start-ups with friends and am grateful I met them.

PERSONALITY
Most times I feel like I have a dual personality, because to some people am the craziest person they have met and others am the coolest person they have met. But deep down within me, I like how I am been seen. Though am not the party type who drinks, smoke or club, when you are searching for fun you see that within my blossom. I love it when people walk up to me to share ideas, get me to involve in a business or seeking advice from me, to me it shows that they see me as a reasonable person so am grateful for it.

Happy Birthday to me.

Literature / TAKING ADVANTAGE (mayowa Oladipo) by StarOnEarth(m): 12:21am On Jul 20, 2018
Growing up should be so much fun because most times we dance to the rhythm of life and pay little or no attention to certain areas of our lives, like, you wouldn’t even care if your parent were rich or broke, if they could get you the cheapest candy in town you are fine, but as times goes on reality began to set in, we start to pay attention to the things we don’t have and the opportunities we think are not visible to us, excuses start to set in, excuses such as “I would have been rich by now if my dad was the governor” or “if I was given birth to in the united states, life would have been better for me” or “if I had gone to a better school I would have gotten better grades” or if I had lived in a high income earning environment I would have been a better person”. Yeah right!! All this might be true but what of does things that you have that you are not taking advantage of. When you start to feel pity for yourself about the fact that you might not have what most people have it takes your mind away from the things you have which can also be productive.
There are lot of things that we possess that we are making little or no use of, this things are what successful people understand and make use of, things like

· Time:
we have 86400 seconds deposited in our lives every day, the dead don’t have that, but the big question is what do you do with it? Do you just sit all day watching TV, browsing the internet, worrying, partying, gossiping etc.? The thing we do with this seconds would yield more product than any fact that was stated earlier, it is either a good or bad product depending on what you do with your time. A wise one once said “Time is free but it is priceless, you can’t own it but you can use it, you can’t keep it but you can spend it but once it is lost you can’t get it back”.
· Strength:
This is your physical quality of being strong and it goes along with time, the strength you had 15years ago would be different from now. So now you are strong enough to stand, enough to walk without support, enough to see without glare, enough to do a lot of thing but the big question again is what are you doing about it? Do you just play football all day, dance, exercise, Etc. this is the best time to channel your strength to do something productive because it would come to a time when your strength is gone and you look back and wished you had done the right thing at the right time.

· Intelligence:
I went for a 3 days seminar that had a lot of professionals in attendance, they were professor and they had enough experience on our field of study, at the last day of the seminar, the speaker suggested we all write a short test so he can be assure that we all got what he was saying all along, for a minute I was wondering why I would have to write a test with professor till one of them said it is totally impossible to write a test with the young ones because they would be humiliated because our brain was still young and we can assimilated faster than they could. Then I found out they were right being young means you can think beyond your wildest imagination but the question is what do you thing about every day?

· Penny:
Yes penny!! We all have that small money that comes to us without a need on it no matter how little they are, the question is do we save them? Invest them? Or lavish them? The truth is the little things we do with small money determine how successful we are, so if you are killing yourself for not having millions look back and see what you did to the thousands.

· Vision:
Being young means you have a lot of time to make plans, set goal and achieve them. A man of 70 years cannot possible have a realistic and achievable vision like a 20year old boy and this is because he has time on his side. So what do you with your vision?

Your parent might not be rich, you might not be where you are supposed to be but am sure you have this five things listed above so my question is are you taking advantage of them?

Travel / THE “PEPE” (ancient African Material) by StarOnEarth(m): 10:34am On Jul 03, 2018
African Architecture has been subjected to so much external influence by the westerners but like the culture of Africa, “its Architecture is exceptionally diverse”, this statement might not be absolutely true in the 21st century because all we see around are buildings with a modernize touch, still, this does not discredit the fact that there are materials that once distinct Africa architecture from the others.

African architecture made use of various material before the influence of the westerners, but this material varied according to regions, some made structures with thatch, stick/wood, mud, mud-brick, rammed earth and stone, various region were known for certain material, North Africa were known for stone and rammed earth, horn Africa for dry stone and mortar, central Africa for thatch/wood and more perishable materials, southeast and southern Africa for stone and thatch/wood while west Africa uses mud/ adobe and this is where the “Pepe” comes in.

The Pepe is a word originated by the Yoruba tribes from West Africa region which describe a type of improvised furniture construction made with mud and mostly attached to the wall of the structure which is also made with mud. In the early days in Africa when the use of wooden and steel furniture were not in vogue, the Africans made use of mud to carve out any type of furniture they needed, it was used for tables, chair, bed, closet Etc. This material naturally made the interiors of buildings cold due to its earthly nature.

They later found out that this material can be more comfortable if it had a softer nature which made them to add cloths on top of it to form a mattress nature and has technology grew they had softer material to apply on the surface of the Pepe.

The Pepe has a static nature has it is most time always constructed to the wall, it gives the interior of an African home an ancestral look that properly depict African architecture but the advent of wooden/steel/glass furniture has made the Pepe gone into extinction. is it possible to bring back the pepe and revitalize African

Education / "Born Again Fad On Campus" by StarOnEarth(m): 1:14am On Jun 06, 2018
Nigeria campuses has witness a wave of evangelical frenzy across the country as churches has successfully planted a lot of campus fellowship around the country. The rise of religious fellowship on campus has brought a lot of change to student attitude and composure on campus, it has also spread the gospel to lot of youth in various university and has made some student withdraw from the delicate life they were living, and in summary campus fellowship has had a lot of positive impact on campuses.
This bring me to the student that believe they have undergo the evangelical wave on campus and are now term as “Born again”. Sometimes being “born again” on campus makes people term you as an “SU”, this mean you cannot be seen doing things unbeliever do on campus such as examination mal-practice, clubbing, drug abuse, cultism etc. but my question is, is this all the possible sin an individual could get involve in?
People have successful cloth themselves in righteous color on campus and they are exempted from general criticism because of what they publicly portray. In an exam hall a lecturer or a supervisor would confidently walk by an assumed born again and keeps his eye on an assume unbeliever. I have seen cases where born again (either Christian or Muslim) are left alone in an exam hall and they still involve in examination mal-practice and have seen cases while a circular person won’t even involve in examination mal-practice. So now is it right to judge students on their religious believe or their inbuilt morals.
The term born again is often used, abused and misused in our present day campuses, they have made it look more like a fad, as a phenomena that doesn’t last, being born again shouldn’t be of a short period or a cover up for hidden sins and anomalies or what do we say about so called born again couple that court on campuses and judge the little man that was caught cheating during an examination, or the born again that gossip so much and feel disgusted by the careless lady in her class, or the born again that can keep malice with the whole class and still make an alter call in church on the following day or the so called born again that masturbate in secret and disapprove fornication. Yet in this system we are judge by our religious believe and outward appearance this has gradually brought a “born again fad” on campus as most student want to be judge in a delightful manner and not pay attention to what the word born again itself means.

Hi guys!!!

I got an idea for a website a year ago so I got a web designer to help me design the website because I actually don't know how to. The website was officially launch 5month ago and have been navigating my way to make it a success. Lately the website have gotten a lot of recognition and good reviews but I can't handle it on my own anymore. Though have not monetize the website because I want to build a very strong traffic in Africa before I start thinking about the income.
The website has a blog, forum and a portfolio for users and it was design to serve not just Nigeria but Africa.

I want to open an office where day to day activities would be run to achieve the projected success of the website, monitoring and content development.

Who do I employ and what are the roles they would play??
Career / NEW TECH STARTUP –alketetecture.com: The African Architect’s Meeting Point by StarOnEarth(m): 7:23am On Jun 01, 2018
A team of students from the Architecture Department in Oduduwa University took African Architecture to another level by coming up with an African architectural website. The team consists of 4 final year students, namely: OladipoMayowa, BadmusBasit, Ajih Raymond and Arudiwe Franklin. Naijapoint met with them for an interview.

TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF:

My name is oladipomayowa, a final year student of oduduwa university, I am from the Architecture department and that says why the niche of the website had to be architectural related. Well! Aside designing buildings and writing another thing I love is technology, am so inspired how developed countries has used technology to almost solve all the problems that besiege them and I think is high time we Africans embrace the fact that the world is moving faster than we are and start to encourage ideas and start up that can make life more easy and educative.

WHAT BROUGHT ABOUT ALKETECTURE?

“Alketecture came up with me trying to mix my thought with reality on ground here in Africa, I had studiedElectrical and Electronics Engineering in the polytechnic which I was not bad at, so when I decided to move to the university to start Architecture from scratch, I knew it was a very though course but the presence of internet as made almost everything simple so I believed it will help but then I noticed that the internet has been flooded with so much foreign ideas that I can’t relate with, most times it doesn’t match up to what we do in our studio, and this is because African Architecture is quite different from the foreign ones, imagine trying to browse on how a sitting room looks like and you start to see plans that paid little attention to ventilation or plans that have kitchen right inside the sitting room. Am not saying this is bad but they consider so many things we don’t have around before making their plans and then we implement their ideas and the output is disaster.

Another things is that there are so many architect but not so many firms but lucky us Architecture seems to be a professional course which makes you an entrepreneur, but how to you showcase what you can do? How do you locate potential client? How do student showcase their works for appreciation, criticism and recommendation?, all this I thought about that became alketecture.”

WHAT IS ALKETECTURE?

“Alketecture is an online community that brings various African Architect together to display their creativity to the world by uploading their 3D project, sketches and model. The website has three basic features which is a Portfolio, where architect can display their works, people can comment, like and even contact them for a job. Another feature is the Blog where latest African architecture news and ideas will be shared while the last one is the Forum, where architect, student and buildings admirers can discuss on various topics around Africa. The vision is to connect African Architects to the world and relate African stylse of buildings to the world also.”

DO YOU HAVE A TEAM?

“Yes I do, I didn’t do this alone. I introduced 3 of my friends while still trying to put things together and we have worked on almost everything concerning the website together.”

IF YOU WERE RIGHT IN FRONT OF AN INVESTOR WHAT WILL YOU ASK FOR?

“I will definitely ask for sponsorship and support. It is one thing to have an idea it is another thing to execute it but the most important is for people to actually see it, use it and benefit from it. We want to reach the whole of Africa, organize competition, seminars and many other things. We want alketecture to be the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear about African architecture and lastly we want to be successful.”

This were the thought of a final year student from ODUDUWA UNIVERSITY which made him and his team come up with an Architectural community called ALKETECTURE.COM.

The name is was gotten from the combination of Alkeluban which is another name for African by the Arab and Architecture which together means African Architecture.

What is Alketecture?
Alketecture is an online community that brings various African Architect together to display their creativity to the world by uploading their 3D project, sketches and models.
The vision is to:
*Connect various African Architect to the world
* Relate African style of building to the world
* Increase the knowledge of workable designs in Africa.

Features on the website:
*Personal portfolio for Architect and building lovers to display their designs

The team were given a chance to share their start-up idea at the techpoint pitch friday at the techpoint headquarters.
They explain how the community is important to African in general and they also seek for investors to make the community known all around Africa.

HigherEd:

I may need to school you again on what a profit making university is. Harvard with $25 billion endowment and 15 million naira/annum tuition is not a profit making university. Neither is Stanford nor Yale. That a university is collecting 10 million naira a year doesn't make it profit making. When we say a university is non profit. It simply means that the founders have elected to reinvest all revenue into the system.
The only faith based university in Nigeria that i am aware of being a profit making university is Alhikmah university which is Islamic.

Which yeye loophole. That is why you have a government you voted for. Even the Isrealites who had a thin line between Religion/State didn't expect nonsense from the synagogue. The church can't veer into full blown political governance and leave matters of spirituality relegate to the background. The essense of the church is to feed the spirit and soul not the belly. The church can give you food but does not have to give you a job.

Lol don't talk about an issue you know nothing of. NUC license more universities because there is shortage of universities. Nearly a million Nigerian youths are denied spaces every year in unis due to unavailable spaces.

What are you saying lol. The Adventist church has over 100 universities splashed across USA and Europe. There is no organisation in the world that owns half as much universities as the catholics. According to Professor Okebukola the catholic church has about 3,000 universities splattered across the globe. The Church of Christ owns/affilited to hundreds of universities in North America. The baptist church owns about 70 universities in the US. Combine all the government universities in the US they don't have 1/10th of universities belonging to churches. And amazingly govt partly funds the church universities there too and they are still not free.
You deserve some accolades

Career / Re: What Odd Job Did You Do On Your Way To Success? by StarOnEarth(m): 10:23am On May 07, 2018
After my high school I took a job at computer village, it was so stressful but I knew I had to do it
I stoped after few month then I started to sell chicken and chips with sharwama for various club in lagos.
There was one time I had to fetch water for someone in request for cash, if my mum knew about it she would still be in tears now.

But by the grace of God now am an architect and the co-founder of the first African Architecture website.. we not there yet but we are getting closer day by day.

Career / 10 Essential Tools/material An Architectural Student Must Have by StarOnEarth(m): 7:47pm On May 01, 2018
Being an architectural student, there are various tools that are essential to your learning process which am sure most of you are familiar with, going through an architectural school I had tools which I hardly do without even though sometimes carrying them to the studio was a big job, so I came up with 15 essential tools every architectural student must have.

1. SCALE RULE

(Pics source:dickblink.com)
“An architect’s scale is a specialized ruler designed to facilitate the drafting and measuring of architectural drawings, such as floor plans and orthographic projections. In scientific and engineering terminology, a device to measure linear distance and create proportional linear measurements is called a scale. A device for drawing straight lines is a straight edge or ruler. In common usage both are referred to as a ruler”. This is one of the most important tools a student should have.

2. PENCILS

Before the advent of various CAD software, pencils were the most important and relevant tool that describe you as an architect, being an architectural student it is certain that you would go around with a lot of pencils, has would be doing a lot of pencils drawing and sketches.

3. PAPER

Being an architectural student, papers are one of your best friends, this is one material you can’t do without, and it is an essential material.

4. CLUCTH PENS

At a point this was my best drafting tool and till date am fond of it, we’ll consider a clutch pencil to be any pencil with a lead-advance mechanism that pushes the lead forward in some way.

5. ADJUSTABLE SET SQUARE

This tool allows you to draft from any angle, it is an object used in engineering and technical drawing, with the aim of providing a straightedge at a right angle or other particular planar angle to a baseline.
The simplest form of set square is a triangular piece of transparent plastic (or formerly of polished wood) with the Centre removed. More commonly the set square bears the markings of a ruler and a half circle protractor.

6. PAPER STORAGE TUBE

Storage tubes hold rolled posters and other large documents providing protection when carrying and storing. Tubes are used by students to carry artwork to and from classes and architects to reference blueprint drawings.

7. STEEL RULE

The steel rule is a basic measuring tool. When used correctly, a good steel rule is a surprisingly accurate measuring device. Some people confuse rules and scales. A scale is a measuring device used by architects and engineers that assists them in making drawings to a scale other than full size.

8. T-SQUARE

The steel rule is a basic measuring tool. When used correctly, a good steel rule is a surprisingly accurate measuring device. Some people confuse rules and scales. A scale is a measuring device used by architects and engineers that assists them in making drawings to a scale other than full size.

9. ERASER

No much story on this but this am certain you can’t do without.

10. TRACING PAPER

Tracing paper is paper made to have low opacity, allowing light to pass through. It was originally developed for architects and design engineers to create drawings which could be copied precisely using the diazo copy process.(wikipedia.com)
