Present ma! Feels good to know we've entered August.
I've finally travelled o at 37weeks, I went to the hospital today for antenatal and proper check-up only for one nurse to measure my tummy and say that I'm 34weeks gone. Can you imagine. If you see the kind eye I give am eh, mtcheew. Me that is wishing to draw my EDD closer and this woman dey tell me another thing as if she dey there when I carry belle. . I told her I was 37weeks+ and I've entered 9 months she no believe. I'll shock her latest in 2 weeks time when I'll come for delivery.
I can't believe I almost doubted my gestational age. Mtcheeew

The cleaning is to clear your milk duct of any dirt or obstacle that may delay the flow of breast milk once you give birth.

It is advisable to start cleaning from 37th week as the cleaning of the nipples might trigger contraction.

How to clean is very simple.

If you have inverted nipple or flat nipple that's when it is advisable to use soapy hands to pull out your nipples while bathing, and wash off all soap thoroughly so the skin around the nipple won't dry off.

If you nipple is pointed, get cotton wool, olive or groundnut oil, first apply some oil directly on the nipple and the black areas surrounding it, let it sit for some minutes, then apply some oil onto the cotton wool and use it to wipe the nipple, continue cleaning, you would see black particles falling off and the cotton wool getting black as well, those are the particles that sits on the milk duct and when not cleaned might reduce the rate at which the baby gets breast milk.

For some people, the breast starts bringing out milk during the cleaning, while for some it is until the baby is born.

Good evening fruitful mamas. Please what's your take and view on this nipple cleaning. Haven't started, but thinking of starting now. Hope it's not too late. What and what is needed, how often? and what's the advantage of it sef. MIL said I should use soap sponge on the nipple. I don't know why I'm finding it difficult to accept that advice. Please any advice will help.

Me and you together on the bolded. Even remote by my feet sef, I have to call my son to pick it up.
Sitting down has become a task for me now, to feel comfortable it's either i lie down or I walk. Haven't noticed nipple sensitivity o, but I heard towards the end some first trimester symptoms might begin to show up again for me bitter mouth has returned and that was my worst symptom in first trimester.

How r u preparing for the journey? Travelling alone or is hubby coming?

My dear o make August waka fast fast abeg.
As for my travel, I'm planning to take off this weekend. Of course hubby is coming to carry me. Can't risk travelling alone at 37 weeks. My office people are saying my maternity leave will start after delivery can you imagine that? Me I'm taking off abeg, I'll just travel and send them a mail that I had an emergency and was asked to observe bed rest till delivery hahaha They cannor come and stress me and my baby.
Thank you mama for asking. I'm sure by this time next month 90% of August teamies must have joined the vigilantee group as per 4th trimester. God will make it easy for all of us.

Our new born baby is 9 days today, but he hardly open his eyes.. his eyes is closed, he only open for few seconds once a day and he sleeps all through..

I don't think any advice here will be enough to help in this kind of situation as we may not understand exactly the nature of the problem. My sincere advice is please take this baby to a qualified pediatrician, let him be properly examined so as to ascertain the best solution to the matter. Please avoid self medication. Please do this I'm sure your baby will really appreciate it.

Something as little as doing house chores can really help alot.
Trekking counts too. Just make sure you're on your feet almost all the time.
It makes labor easier and also prepares your body for the pain, you might end up not feeling any pain at all during labor.

Because my EDD is 21st August hahaha and i'm almost sure that baby will come before that day sef. Will commence my leave from 1st Week of August (after next week) to enable me travel and do some last minute preparations before the arrival of my prince . I'm just excited as if na tomorrow be the day sef. Lol.

Ehee for those who have crossed 35weeks, abeg eh, no vex, how una dey take turn for bed? Infact how una take dey manage to sleep abeg? About the short labor, I was active throughout the pregnancy. Infact,I just finished doing laundry before I headed to the hospital.
Just try to be active as much as you can and God will definitely see you through.

Abeg when should I increase my activeness? I'm almost 36weeks. Although the nature of my work doesn't keep me seated for a long time. And I've been unintentionally doing plenty trekking these days. Hope it's part of the activeness. My fear is make labour no start when I haven't travelled yet. Planning to travel ending of next week sha.

Don't be scared, at this point nothing can be more painful than the birth itself and I doubt it'll even be painful cos they wouldn't tamper with your cervix. I've never had one done anyway and I believe at this point usually a scan should tell them what they need to know, but if your doctor says so, then go for it..

Before arriving at a conclusion think of these points:
Have you saved enough money for yourself? Like personally do you have any money to fall back on ? Atleast if e bad too much u can start a small biz with it.

Is hubby staying in a place where getting work is easy? I mean the town he is living. Eg if you're moving from lag to lokoja, u know getting job there go hard small.

Is it possible to accept the offer and then go for your 3months leave at the end of July, so u use that opportunity to think we'll and weigh your options? If it's possible then I think to should try it

I never save plenty money o infact I've used the one I gathered to do my baby shopping. As for business, hahaha that one na 1 missed call o. I no sabi business at all. I've been an office person/Civil Servant all my life. God go help me o. Maybe I fit learn sha.

Mama you've made good point o and I've seriously considered all that. Good jobs are scarce in this our country. And looks like it's even easier to get job as a single lady than when you are a nursing mother. Lemme sha work for one month and see how it goes. Thanks mama.

Wow congratulations dearie, this is great news .
Please really consider if you still want to resign. You and hubby consider the financial implications very well.
If you weigh the options and Oga can carry the family for an extended period of time for you to get stronger after the birth of baby and get another job, then after your maternity leave you can resign, I'm sure you will have enough time to think about this and properly weigh it during that time.
So if I were you I will accept it now while the offer is open.

You can't be confused ooo....accept the promotion, don't resign yet...you can buy time using maternity leave....then you and hubby can come to a decision if you can resign or not and if he can carry the whole family bills by himself pending when you get another job.
Babies come with extra bills I must say...and there is no harm in making extra money but las las the final decision depends on you, hubby and you guys financial standing.

Thanks for your advice mama. After much considerations and deliberations, I've decided to accept the offer. I'm already on my way to the Headquarters to do necessary documentation. @the bolded as in eh, this baby has really attracted blessings for us o. Infact hubby also got a new job offer with a better pay and he's resuming today. This July sha looks promising

Meanwhile I was planning to resign from my work place by the end of July when I'll commence my maternity leave following the advice of some mamas here to take off from 36weeks. Now the funny thing that happened yesterday 29/6/2022 was that I received a promotion letter o with almost double of my current salary with effect from this July that's starting tomorrow. (Promotion I've been expecting since 2019 before I got married sef and it refused to come).
Right now, ayam confused o. Don't know if to accept the new position and enjoy increased pay or to re-unite with my husband from the maternity leave and enjoy my young family. The matter tire me. I have till 1st July to accept or decline the new position.

Today is the last day of June .
