But not in the soft league we have now. That flagrant foul call on D-Lo, in a playoffs final game, na this soft league MJ no go feast?
I'm not comparing both eras, but what do you think a prime Olajuwon or Prime Shaq would average right now? Na frauds just full everywhere now. Just like in football also, but NBA own better pass.

Sometimes you would want to excuse these athletes, but guy, come on, this is your job, this is what you do everyday and you get paid heavily for it.
So do you think Shaq wouldn't be called for several offensive fouls if he is playing in this era. It goes both ways bro. Every era has its pros and cons

I hate pointing out stats but I will give it to you.

Michael averaged 28 in 1997.

The average PPG in 1997 was 91 points. It wasn't 100. Michael averaging 28 out of a possible 91 showed he scored 30% of his team points.

PPG these days are what? 120? So if you average 37 out of 120 isn't that also about 30% of your teams points?
We're not looking at what the league averaged, we're looking at what MJ averaged. Mj should be able to score points regardless of what other people are scoring. After all, when MJ averaged 37 in 1986, the runner up averaged 29. That's a whooping 8 points difference. MJ wasn't deterred by what the rest of the league was doing. He was just being MJ

MJ averaged 37. That's a fact. No one on this list you mentioned has averaged 37.

There is a difference between a scorer and a shooter. Klay and curry and shooters who can score. Michael Jordan does both extremely well and is more athletic that all these players combined.

He is a great at finishing around the basket, free throw line, has a deadly midrange shot and no doubt would be a damn good three point shooter in today's league.

Factor in all of these and ask me if he won't average whatever he wants to.
MJ averaged 37. But he also averaged 28 and won the scoring title.

Just another longevity stat....
Kareem, Kobe, Duncan, Shaq, Malone and a few others all played 20 or 19 years at least. Why are they not the ones topping with 8k points? Why does none of them even have up to 6k points?

Harden offensive arsenal is not half of MJ Arsenal and that fraud averaged 38 at one point.

MJ would give you 50. His highese PPG was 37 followed by 35. With midrange shots not even three pointers that we have now.
Lol. MJ would give you 50. What you're trying to tell me is that Kobe and Steph and KD are not even half the scorer MJ was. Or is Steph no more the greatest shooter who ever lived? Is KD no more regarded by most as the best pure scorer ever?
SportsRe: The NBA Begins by steady986(m):
KNIGHTBlaed:
Dead this talk abeg. What makes you think MJ will not be taking averaging 25 to 30 FTs per game? With his athleticism and all?
This same soft era?
No one is saying MJ might not average 30. I'm saying others would average 30 too and he won't win scoring title every year because there'll actually be competition for that title. If Harden, LeBron, KD, Steph, Kobe, Embiid, Luka all played in MJ's era, will MJ still have 10 scoring titles?
SportsRe: The NBA Begins by steady986(m): 12:23pm On May 23, 2023

I have friends who are man utd fans, I am a real madrid fan. Nobody that I know was insulting Messi when man city knocked city out of the champion league
It's this same Man utd fans that were praying Man City won the title over Arsenal. And they want to talk about rivalry. All these things are selective. People choose when to hate. Some just choose to hate every time.

Anyway I hope LeBron fans that downplayed the importance of Wade and Kyrie can see the difference now between them and Anthony " street clothes " Davis. Obviously LeBron has shown he can win without them, but do you really think LeBron would be in the GOAT conversation without Wade and Kyrie ? Your guess is as good as mine.

Gbas Gbos

grin grin
I hope you people are putting this into your consideration whenever you're talking about LeBron's legacy, that AD was not reliable according to you and many other on this thread. And he still won wit him despite the fact grin Because not one soul complained about Pippen. He just showed out and balled out. Let's keep that energy

Crap, crap and mega crap

When he has multiple scoring titles and 6rings, then we can talk
Lol. I've always said it that MJ is not winning 10 scoring titles in this era. If you doubt me then you're intentionally obtuse or you don't know basketball

I'm at a crossroads as to who to support in the Finals. I want Jokic to win a title, he truly deserves it. But I also love an underdog story. And I think Jimmy deserves one after losing 3 years ago to LeBron. Make we dey see sha. Let the best man win.

Imagine thinking losing in the conference finals at 38 is somehow detrimental to his legacy. Record will have it that LeBron at 38 has achieved more than MJ at 38.

SportsRe: The NBA Begins by steady986(m): 4:25am On May 23, 2023
Good game. Good series. In 20 years time, kids would look at this series and see it was a sweep, but all 4 games were extremely close. This series could be 2-2 or 3-1 to either of the teams if some things went differently.

Credit to Denver though. That team is good. Everybody stepped up. Malone thoroughly outcoached the rookie Ham in this series.

All in all, the Lakers have overachieved this season. Unlike one phooney 2nd seed that's been outclassed by an 8th seed over in the east tongue

LeBron is really going to play the entire 48 minutes on a bad foot in year 38? Unbelievable.

Whatever you call on side A, Call on side B. Clearly the calls for the Lakers were the right calls. On the other end, Not so much
You're making it seem like it's a barrage of missed calls. Only the entry pass to Jokic that was a missed foul on Rui. I didn't see anything else.

The existing record is 0-110, so for both the Lakers and Celtics it's near impossible.

What if Lakers do a comeback 💜💛
History suggests it won't happen. Although there has been a 3-0 comeback in baseball and the NHL, it has never happened in the NBA. But when you realise that both teams were level or at least within 3 points of each other in the 4th quarter in every single game so far, you begin to wonder how different this might have gone. Perhaps that's why some fans are still hopeful that with better execution down the stretch, they could steal 1 or 2 games and make it interesting .

But I'm not one of them grin It's the hope that kills. I'm already in an off-season mood.

Because Denver are soooo much better than the Lakers that they can win regardless...... The constant whistle doesn't affect their flow.
That's why Denver is a number 1 seed and you guys are the 7th seed.
But the excessive whistles disrupts the warriors and stops them from finding Rhythm. Considering that the teams are almost on the same level, the FTs gives an unfair advantage to the recipient Team. That's why they are the 6th and 7th seed respectively....
But for FTs, all the games vs the Nuggets, would be blowouts....
If you don't foul, the refs won't blow. It's as simple as that smiley

Good. We are making progress.....
The difference between the Nuggets and the lakers is the bitching part.
We all agree the lakers were fraudulently awarded FTs..
Only GS and their fans are saying the Lakers are fraudulently awarded FTs. Denver just sees it as part of the game and forges ahead grin
SportsRe: The NBA Begins by steady986(m): 6:47am On May 21, 2023
Android17:
At some point in this game the refs had given the Lakers 27 FTs compared to the Nuggets 10. They had tried to do to them what they had done to the warriors in the SFs. #Shameless
The difference between you and the Nuggets is we didn't hear them bitching about the FT disparity. They just went about their business and won their games despite. That's how you know a team that's actually good.
