Yar’Adua has heart problem’ - Suffering from ‘Acute Pericarditis’ - Turai sighted at Mina - President sad over rumour of his death From Okey Muogbo, Sade Oguntola and Biola Azeez (Saudi Arabia) - 27.11.2009 IT has been confirmed that President Umaru Yar’Adua is suffering from a medical condition called acute pericarditis for which he is receiving treatment in Saudi Arabia . Mr. Olusegun Adeniyi, Special Adviser to the President (Media and Publicity), read a statement issued and sent from Saudi Arabia by the Chief Physician to the President, Dr Salisu Banye, to State House reporters on the president’s medical condition and said that Yar’Adua was “now receiving treatment for the ailment and is responding remarkably well.” According to the statement read to reporters on Thursday, “at about 3 p.m. on Friday, November 20th, after he returned from the Abuja Central Mosque, where he performed the Juma’at prayers, President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua complained of left-sided severe chest pain. Preliminary medical examinations suggested Acute Pericarditis, (an inflammatory condition of the coverings of the heart). “It was then decided that he should undertake confirmatory checks at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where he had his last medical checkup in August. The medical review and tests undertaken at the hospital have confirmed the initial diagnosis that the president is, indeed, suffering from Acute Pericarditis.” Dr Banye, a Fellow of the West African College of Physicians (FWACP), added that “he is now receiving treatment for the ailment and is responding remarkably well.” Taking questions from reporters, Mr Adeniyi said that the president was sad over the rumour of his death, pointing out that “he (Yar’Adua) is a human being; naturally he will feel bad. “This is not the first time, the president was aware of the rumour. He felt bad about it as any normal human being would.” The spokesman made it clear that the president would not perform the hajj, saying “it is definitely not true; even before the president travelled he knew that he was not going to perform the hajj. "Even when I did the first draft for the statement, I stated that the president will do medicals and undergo hajj, but he said no, I am not going to do hajj. So there is no way he is going to do hajj.” He said the president had to travel late in the night, because attempts to procure the visas for the president and his delegation even by late evening failed, they had to obtain their visas at the point of entry. Said Adeniyi: “Actually, what happened was that the president was supposed to leave earlier in the day. But because of the holidays in Saudi Arabia, they couldn’t procure his visa on time. “By the time I left them by 8 p.m. on Monday night, the visas were not ready. But they left for the airport by about 10.30 p.m., when it was clear the visas could not be obtained here. “All of them left without visa. Their passports were stamped at the airport entry point in Saudi Arabia,“ he stated. •Pericarditis, according to expert Dr. Ranti Familoni, a consultant cardiologist with the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), Sagamu, Ogun State, described acute pericarditis as an inflammation of the sac surrounding the heart called the pericardium. According to him, acute pericarditis is a common complication of kidney failure, which could have occurred due to a virus. He said though President Yar’Adua had had a kidney transplant, this did not prevent him from developing acute pericarditis, a problem that can affect both the young and the old. Although acute pericarditis is an emergency situation in children, because it causes the heart to be caged and unable to pump blood as it should, Dr. Familoni explained that in the case of the president, it was really not an emergency since it is a common complication in people with kidney problem. “In the case of President Yar’Adua, this may not kill him since they know he has a kidney problem and, as such, they would just go on and treat appropriately,” he declared. According to the expert, the commonest cause of acute pericarditis in adults is Tuberculosis. Its symptoms include chest pain or tightness, often worsened by deep breathing. Its symptoms and signs also vary, depending on the severity of inflammation and the amount and rate of fluid accumulation. Meanwhile, wife of the president, Turai, was sighted at Mina, Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday, where she was also performing this year’s hajj exercise. According to Nigerian Tribune correspondent who is also performing the exercise, the wife of the president was seen among Islamic faithful, as pilgrims were about to leave Mina for Muzdalifah, where they would pick stones to throw at Shaytan. The presence of Hajia Yar’Adua at the hajj exercise, according to investigation, showed that the situation of President Yar’Adua was under control, while another investigation also revealed that Hajia Turai might use the opportunity to pray for her husband.

the disastrous thing to happen to one is to come out with 3rd class. but not withstanding the class you come out has not to do with ur swagger in the ginger. i don't care the class i come out with even with a PASS in the school it does not matter @ all. the fact that i come with a pass did not mean i don't have some stuff on my head. there will be some factors that contribute to my class such as -the department (course) -the lecturers ( sadist e.g IN GREAT IFE) - other factors such as financial status, self e.t.c what really matter most is me myself. i mean the rate i can innovate & diligently gingerate in the swagger market |
no, i don't think so |
