The Corruption Perception Index, CPI of Nigeria, dropped further in the latest report by international anti-corruption watch-dog,Transparency International, TI. Nigeria dropped from a score of 27 to 26 on the index. On the scale, 0 means the highest level of corruption. 100 means none at all. The report which was released on January 27, showed that despite much strong talk by the new administration to tackle corruption, the international community is yet unmoved by Nigeria’s efforts and the country dropped one point further into the red zone.In 2014 Nigeria scored 27. On May 29, 2015, Nigeria experienced a smooth and successful transition, from one democratically elected president to the other. Upon taking the reins of power, then new President Muhammdu Buhari promised not to spare any corrupt individual. In his inaugural speech, he stressed this point, even to the local government level, saying: “while the Federal Government can not interfere in the details of its operations (Local Governments) it will ensure that the gross corruption at the local level is checked”. Several months on, the nation is yet to experience its first conviction for corruption, despite several arrests. The media however, has been flooded with articles on corruption trials, with no end in sight. Recently, Buhari complained about the judiciary, being his “main headache” in the fight against corruption. “On the fight against corruption vis-à-vis the judiciary, Nigerians will be right to say that is my main headache for now.” Buhari Said. Legal practitioner, George Obah, insists the President had no right to query another arm of government for doing its job, saying “the lawyers if at all, not the judges should be blamed, as the law must take its course”. Comparing Nigeria to its closest neighbors, the country ranks 2nd worst, only above Chad. From 2012 to 2015, Ghana scored 45, 46, 48 and 47, emerging the best from the W/African sub-region. Benin Republic scored 36, 36, 39, 37, Cameroun 26, 25, 27, 27, while Niger Republic scored 33, 34, 35, 34 in the same period. Nigeria, just like other countries in the region, has battled disasters like Ebola, Lassa fever, terrorism and epileptic power supply. TI reckons that the magnitudes of the various disasters are a reflection of corruption in the land, as scarce resources required to combat them, have either been diverted, or simply wasted by public office holders. With over $20bn now expended since 1999, in the power sector, Nigeria still generates a little over 4000MW of power, which is already being threatened by militancy in the Niger Delta. Since June 2015 when Buhari visited U.S President, Barack Obama, figures have been bandied of Nigeria’s commonwealth, looted by past public office holders. Almost a year on, none of the said funds have been repatriated back to the government’s purse, to aid with combating the various ailments Nigeria suffers. From Dasukigate (the probe on alleged diverted funds by the immediate past National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki) which has stopped just short of roping in all members of the past administration, to the Abacha loot, it is safe to say that there has been no concrete act of anti-corruption to give Nigeria a boost out of the red-zone. President Buhari @NGRPresident Pres @Mbuhari has received the interim report of the panel auditing procurement of arms & equipment for the Armed Forces from 2007 to date. President Buhari @NGRPresident It was discovered that the fmr NSA asked @ocenbank to transfer $132m & €9.9m to Societe D’equipmente Internationaux, w/out any contract docs 10:27PM- 17 Nov 201 During his inauguration, Buhari said “My fellow Nigerians I can not recall when Nigeria enjoyed so much goodwill abroad as now. “The messages I received from East and West, from powerful and small countries are indicative of international expectations on us.” These expectations appear to be fast eroding, with the latest TI report. Tobi Akingbade, 24, a Londoner has spoken of her distress at being racially ridiculed with a blackface image of a boy with Nutella smeared over his face, for twice failing her degree. She had tweeted after graduating from the University of Hertfordshire at the third attempt in September, 2015. In an open letter she wrote: “I sat behind my screen at work and burst into tears. For a few seconds I felt worthless, meaningless and not very human. Using a photo of someone else in blackface doesn’t eradicate the fact that you used a photo with blackface to mimic me, a black woman.” Tobi said she had endured 5 difficult years at university before completing her degree, due to problems in her personal life. The man who shared the tweet has since taken it down and apologized, after facing a barrage of criticism. She said she accepted his apology, writing: “As weak as your apology was, I accept it. Why? Because I have a life to live and harbouring unforgivness does nothing for my own sanity. There is no way I’m letting the actions of an ignorant Twitter warrior stay rent free in my head.” Source: http://www.trezzyblog.com/2016/02/nigerian-girl-racially-ridiculed-for.html

One of entertainment’s most eligible bachelor, Bankole Wellington, popularly known as “Banky-W” played groomsman duty at the wedding of former big brother housemate and television presenter, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu in Nigeria’s capital, Abuja. The award winning act was decked in a custom Mai Atafo two-piece suit, but what caught my attention was that Gucci branded mixed print scarf and the square-shaped sunglasses by Tom Ford. That scarf is currently sold out on major fashion retail portals, the going rate for the stylish ensemble runs into $318 dollars, and his sunglasses retails for US $340. This is what you call accessorizing with punch lines!Banky the biggest boy with class Source: http://www.trezzyblog.com/2016/02/groomsman-closet-confidential-about.html

Popular actor, Solomon Akiyesi has debunked reports that he was receiving treatment for an undisclosed ailment at a private hospital. News made the rounds on the internet last week that the controversial actor was hospitalized for a sickness that he has refused to reveal publicly. Refuting the reports on his Facebook page, Akiyesi said: "Some of these ragamuffin, wannabe bloggers and journalists are so deceptive, using my name like a contraceptive. I hope they get burnt since they won't learn. What good do they derive from telling damaging lies about me, telling the world that I'm sick and hospitalised when I'm in my house drinking my coke and eating my biscuit? "Whoever wishes me evil will first be buried. I AM NOT SICK AND HOSPITALISED. People should get their hands on better things to do than forcing themselves in other people's shoes. Everyone cannot be a blogger." Source: http://www.trezzyblog.com/2016/02/solomon-akiyesi-blasts-bloggers-i-hope.html

A man Nze Ebubeagu Ekenulo recently claimed that his late ex wife, Ukachi Amaechi, was infected with HIV by Imo State senator, Hope Uzodinma. In a statement posted by Nze Ebubeagu Ekenulo on Facebook,Senator Hope Uzodinma lured Ukachi Amaechi from her marital home, which resulted in her filing for divorce from Ekenulo. Amaechi contested and won election for Imo House of Assembly in 2007. She died on December 18, 2015, and was buried in her father’s home in January.According to Nze Ebubeagu Ekenulo, the senator allegedly infected Ukachi Amaechi as well as two other women with HIV. The late Ukachi Amaechi’s family have shut down the claims that their daughter contracted HIV from the senator, and they have leveled allegations on her ex husband Ekenulo, accusing him of using the late woman to score cheap politically points. Read their statement below..... Please I will request that Ukachi Amaechi should be allowed to Rest In Peace. However let me clear the issues raised by the so called ex husband – Godwin. Ukachi went to one of the best primary schools in Kano, St Louis as at the time, FGGC Owerri/Egbu Girls and then proceeded to Unijos. This cannot be of a child from a poor home. For avoidance of doubt, Ukachi’s dad, Godwin Amaechi is a chartered accountant who retired as GM, Finance Northern Breweries and the Traditional Prime Minister of Obinze Autonomous community. In addition John Amaechi – the father of ex NBA player John Amaechi – was a Governorship aspirant under SDP in Imo State, so politics is common with the Amaechis and poverty does not have a place in us. She met her ex husband after she won Miss Unijos in her first year in school. This marriage barely lasted for 7 years due to deceitful/fraudulent, woman beater life of Godwin Ekenulo that goes about telling people he is from a wealthy home- that his father owns majority of shops in Alaba but cannot pay his immediate bills even up till date. Their last child (deceased) should be over 14years if alive – However Ukachi joined active politics less than 10years ago, so do your calculation that their 2 last kids died of HIV as a result of meeting a politician who infected her. When did Ukachi meet this Hope that infected her, was it in Jos or Lagos where they had their four kids (one of the child in question died in Jos when she was in school). As the marriage could no longer hold, Ukachi returned back to Amaechi compound where she joined politics in 2007, contested and won election for Imo House of Assembly as Ukachi AMAECHI representing Owerri West LGA. Any Igbo person will know that Ukachi will never be allowed to contest for election in Owerri West if she is married to a man from Amaigbo another LGA that those not even have boundaries with Owerri West LGA, as she will be asked to go to the husband’s place to represent them rather than her father’s home. Ukachi got divorced from a court of competent jurisdiction over 9years and moved on with her life. This same Godwin Ekenulo was allowed to live in Amaechi’s compound in a bid to see if their marriage can be mended as we do not believe in divorce but his nuisance value – beating Ukachi before the parents and the Amaechis – was barred from entering the family hence his resolve to stock and embarrass Ukachi before her colleagues in the Imo House of Assembly between 2007-2011 up until the divorce was formalized. This Godwin i understand is married with a child so why this blasphemy, Ukachi should not be used to score politically point against his opponent if there is any. Ukachi came, lived and should be allowed to REST IN PEACE to face any consequence with her maker. Meanwhile,Senator Hope Uzodinma is yet to respond to Nze Ebubeagu Ekenulo accusations.

Yesterday, photos of a young Ghanaian diagnosed with terminal cancer surfaced on Facebook. The boy had asked to see the insides of an aeroplane for the first time, and the hospital staff teamed up with Delta airline at the Kotoka Airport in Accra to grant the young child his dying wish. According to reports his parents couldn’t afford the medical treatment the child needed and left him at home until his condition deteriorated. Read what a social media user who shared the photo wrote... “A child is in an ambulance heading to kotoka airport , u know why,? He want to see an aeroplane before he die, yes die , his parents couldn’t afford treatment for cancer and he was kept at home till it got worse. Now there is nothing to do and he will die any moment from now but he begged the hospital to make him see a plane before he die. Do u know how much it would have cost to save this boy’s life… hmm if health insurance was working well and covering some of this ailment Delta gave him a treat-jst now.” See the photos above
