Shortly after returning from a trip to Gambia, singer, Davido was hospitalised due to stress. With the baby-mama drama he’s currently immersed in, perhaps, it’s quite understandable why the singer may be heavily stressed. Davido shared via Snapchat pictures of himself spending quality time with baby Imade after being hospitalised. President Muhammadu Buhari today met with the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Mrs Christine Lagarde during an audience with IMF Team at the State in Abuja. President Muhammadu Buhari said Tuesday in Abuja that his administration will look inwards, enforce regulations to stop financial leakages and adopt global best practices in generating more revenue to mitigate the effect of dwindling oil prices on the Nigerian economy. Receiving the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Ms Christine Lagarde at the Presidential Villa, President Buhari said that his administration will also enforce greater discipline, probity and accountability in all revenue generating agencies of the Federal Government. "We have just come out of budget discussions after many weeks of taking into consideration the many needs of the country, and the down turn of the economy with falling oil prices and the negative economic forecasts. "We are working very hard and with the budget as our way forward, we will do our best to ensure that our country survives the current economic downturn. "We have also told all heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government that on our watch, they will fully account for all funds that get into their coffers," President Buhari told Ms Lagarde. The President said that the Federal Government was reviewing its operational costs and had directed all the Ministries, Departments and Agencies to cut down on their overhead costs. President Buhari said the Federal Government will welcome the technical support and expertise of the IMF for its plans to diversify the Nigerian economy and further unleash its growth potentials. In her remarks, Ms Lagarde said that the IMF will be willing to assist the Federal Government in plugging revenue leakages, tracing stolen funds and restructuring its tax system. She said that Nigeria had all the potentials to overcome the current economic challenge of falling commodity prices without resorting to the IMF for financial support. The Peoples Democratic Party, Abia state chapter has rejected the judgement of the Court of Appeal sacking Governor Okezie Ikpeazu In a statement issued by Governor Ikpeazu’s Senior Special Adviser on Public Communications, Sam Hart, the party expressed its decision to challenge the judgement of the Appeal Court and has filed an appeal at the Supreme Court to this effect. The Supreme Court has until March 2, 2016 to decide the matter in line with the amended Electoral Act. Sam Hart however stated that the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the Appeal Court Judgment had not been received by the party 5 days clear after the judgement was given in a time-bound manner. The party therefore only filed the Appeal to the Supreme Court based on what was heard in Court. Hart further stated that upon receipt and extensive study of the CTC of the Appeal Court Judgment, additional grounds would be filed where necessary at the Supreme Court. Above is the Notice of Appeal. Source: http://www.trezzyblog.com/2016/01/sacked-abia-governor-heads-to-supreme.html

JNIA police arrested a Nigerian identified as Ejiofor Ohagwu in unlawful possession of 4.3 kilogrammes of illicit substance.Above is a picture of Airport Police Commander Martin Otieno and Inspector Duncun Gitagno (left) displaying drugs seized yesterday at Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA) in Dar es Salaam. Looking on are Inspector Robert Majenga (second right) andJNIA head of Investigations Amedeus Tesha. Ejiofor Ohagwu was arrested yesterday by JNIA police.JNIA police commander Martin Otieno said yesterday Ohagwu was arrested at 1.50am as he was about to board an Ethiopian Airlines flight to the Nigerian city of Lagos through Addis Ababa. “The man was arrested in possession of the drugs that he had hid in two bags,” Mr Otieno told a news conference at Tanzania’s largest airport. He said the value and type of the drugs were yet to be established, adding that samples have been sent to the chief government chemist for tests. “The suspect covered the drugs in a way that it was not easy to detect but thanks to the advanced screening technology put in place,”said Mr Otieno. Mr Otieno said the man had self-designed extra-compartments at the bottom of the suitcases using fibre material where he kept the drugs. On top of the hidden compartments he put shoes. “We should give information of suspected people involved in the illicity business. Our target is to catch the big dealers,” he said. It should be recalled that in June last year, officers of the anti-drugs unit (ADU) at the JNIA arrested a 52-year-old Nigerian with 100 cocaine-filled capsules worth then about Sh90 million ($53,460).Antony Ifeanyichukwu Okafor had just arrived from Cameroon aboard an Ethiopian Airlines flight when officers of a special-task force on drugs became suspicious and put him under supervision.Upon his arrest, he told the police that he had come to Tanzania to meet friends and relatives. However, as he was under police monitoring, off-loaded the drugs, whereby he later confessed to have entered the country in search of a market for the drugs.

After losing out to Reekado Banks in the Next Rated act category at the just concluded Headies, Kiss Daniel has penned an open letter to his fans, thanking them for their unwavering support. Fans of the G-Worldwide act launched a Twitter attack on the organizers of the Headies after Kiss Daniel lost to Reekado Banks. To reciprocate the love, the artiste on Sunday, released a letter containing several important announcements. Read below. “When I opened my social media accounts this morning, it was humbling for me to see that so many people believe that I deserve recognition for the work I was able to do last year by the grace of God. But like Thomas a Kempis famously wrote; “Man proposes, but God disposes”. To see that fans across different social audiences appreciate the efforts I put into making my music is one I will never look down upon, no award beats that, and I hope to be able to repay this confidence in good time. My fans have been the most amazing source of inspiration for me, and I promise never to let you down. From the days when I was nobody in this industry, to song after song that you have helped become hits, I say God bless you for all the support. To be honest, it was quite heartbreaking to find out that I did not get the particular recognition I so much craved, but I am excited that it only means I need to work harder, and that 2016 will be a bigger year for me. In 2015, some of the awards I won with your support include; ‘Best New Act’ at the Nigerian Entertainment Awards (NEA), Next Rated Artiste of The Year at the Extreme Awards in Benin Republic, AFRIMA Awards Most Promising Act in Africa. I also found out I was one of the top 5 Google Top Trending Nigerian Musicians. For an artiste with less than 10 songs to my name, I think this is enough for me to congratulate myself upon. This year 2016 is going to be bigger and better; my debut album drops this year, and with the work put into it by myself, my team, and that of the artistes magnanimous enough to feature on it, I am positive that this will be the year. I also want to use this opportunity to tell the fans to look out for the forthcoming single of my label mate and brother “Sugarboy” dropping in few days from now, as we at G-Worldwide Entertainment will continue to bring you good music. I thank you all; my fans for always supporting me, the media platforms who continue to keep me in the public’s mind, the industry seniors who have made it their job to guide and mentor, and the members of my team who work behind the scenes to make sure I keep my head level and continue to make great music. Special shoot-out to my label boss “Emperor Geezy” who continues to bring the best out of me. I wish you all a happy New Year, and hope you have a good time in 2016. ANIDUGBE OLUWATOBILOBA DANIEL (KISS DANIEL) Almost forgot, thanks to the good guys at The Guardian UK for giving me a mention in The playlist: the best African pop of 2015 “

How time flies!Check out the price of a brand new car in Nigeria in 1986.In 1986 a brand new car was N17,571, by 1989 it had risen to N120,000 within the space of 4 years. The naira went from N2 to a dollar to N7.32/$1. These are some of the effects of a depreciating currency. Is this happening again? Source: http://www.trezzyblog.com/2016/01/check-out-price-of-car-in-nigeria-in.html

President Muhammadu Buhari said in the ongoing presidential media chat that if bombings continue in the country, Hijab might be banned. Most of the bombings in the country are carried out by bombers clad in Hijab. Answering questions on incessant terrorist attacks happening in the country, President Buhari said: “When I say BokoHaram had been defeated technically, we have weakened capacity for conventional attacks. Banning Hijab is not an option, but if these attacks continues, Hijab has to be banned.” The president’s verdict on hijab being banned has triggered twitter reactions from Nigerians.See tweets below.... Those who tried to paint PMB as an Islamic extremist before the election must feel really stupid after the Hijab ban statement #PMBMediaChat — B. (@zebbook) December 30,2015 The President was straight forward about the Hijab response, also works better seeing as he’s a muslim.#PresidentialMediaChat — Khaleesi!!! (@AbangMercy) December 30,2015 @MBuhari got be boxed into a corner here. What BAN the wearing of Hijab? In Northern #Nigeria ? UNTHINKABLE! #presidentialmediachat — Kayode Ogundamisi (@ogundamisi) December 30,2015 I thought he was gonna dodge the hijab question. It’s a crazy angle. #PresidentialMediaChat — Ediong (@Ediong) December 30,2015 I’m a liberal. I’ll defend Hijab as a legal choice, even while I take a social& Islamic view that it is a totally unnecessary piece of cloth — maajid nawaz (@MaajidNawaz) December 30,2015 Even a decade and a half later debates about terrorism still end up flowing into discussions about hijab & other basically unrelated things. — Murtaza Hussain @MazMHussain Decembr 30,2015 Source: http://www.trezzyblog.com/2015/12/media-chatbuhari-says-hijab-might-be.html

While some question the cost budgeted for food in the presidential villa, others attacked the economically inimical cost budgeted for BMW following a report that the presidency budgeted N3.6 for cars in the new year.
