Your information about Nigeria's 5 year engineering degree program been equal to a diploma in Australia is not true. Please get your facts right so as not to confuse others. blackbriar: wow.
so you need to do 2 Assessments
1. For Migration purpose until you get the visa 2. when you get to aussie, another to get a job
Nigeria's 5 year Engineering Degree program is a 3 year equivalent diloma program in Australia.

If what am seeing online is correct, DHA website says functional english should be valid in the 12 months before you applied for visa. tunlex01: Functional English is only valid for 12 months. Expired PTE won't work. @chookudi, get a letter from the secondary school with WAEC transcript. Letter from Uni should be easiest to get or she writes another PTE. Only 30 points is required in each band |

Please check the link below https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/help-support/meeting-our-requirements/english-language/functional-englishExpired PTE should be okay chookudi: Hi Everyone, So my brother in law was one of the last set of people to apply for the defunct 489 visa in October 2019 and he just got CO contact yesterday asking him to provide certain documents for his wife one of which is proof of functional English. She already did PTE and submitted with the application but the PTE is now expired (Expired October 2021). Amongst the list of options given to him, which I have attached to this write up, is it sufficient to reupload the PTE as well as her WAEC result? She finished from UNN but it is seemingly impossible to get a letter stating she was taught in English. I appreciate your input in this |

You need a bachelor degree in order for you to be positively assessed as a professional Engineer. Try exploring TRA option Please read up the MSA Booklet attached. https://www.engineersaustralia.org.au/sites/default/files/MSA%20Booklet%20(March%202020).pdf adeyhariet: @tunlex01, I heard from an Australian citizen that they do not give positive assessment to HND holders. Please who can confirm this? |

I can still remember submitting my pension, tax statement, payslips and employment letters to DHA and still got a CO contact asking for further proofs of work. My bank statement was what i had to resort to and it worked. All i will advise is that verifiable documents should be used as case officers differs.
A signed bank statement does not count as 3rd party documentation for DHA, EA and ACS although TRA will accept it. In addition, income tax statement is not mandatory. It's either pension or tax. Tax statement is a good-have but not a must have if there is other 3rd party document.[/quote] |

You will need to look at things from the view point of the assessor. Both primary and secondary documents are needed to conclude your assessment process. My advise is that you get your bank statement and highlight all your salary on it. Also, include some of your payslips referencing those transactions. You could make use of 3 to 4 payslips per year covering different organisations you worked. Please get a signed copy of your bank statement and not online for this so it can serve as a third party document. Make a formal request by email for the pension statement to indicate the names of the organisation you worked with and then include all your correspondence to the assessor. You will still need your income tax statement during the visa application process so i will advise you to start working on getting that too. The process for getting it may not be as cumbersome as you think. soulamanne: thanks for your input...my payslips over the last 10years of work experience I am claiming all have my full name and the name of my employers.they are saying a secondary document should be a pension statement, a tax receipt and another state board document(cant quite get hold of that).of all these, my pension statement is the easiest for me to get.Starting the process to get my tax receipt is a process that I dont think I can make the 21-03-22 deadline that I now have to submit.
The pension company insists the pension statement cannot carry individual company name remitting .I am seeking for a cover letter from them as supporting document.I just feel the CO is overreaching ...you already have all my payslips with item named pension, you have all my employment letters and also ref letters from the companies telling you the period I worked...why this again.I am really tired meeeen!I am hoping this will not end in an appeal.I believe my outcome is ready just the last doc is why he is holding it back....it is just a technical ground and has nothing to do with the quality of my application.as per the bank statement;the CO defines a secondary document as pension account, tax receipt etc)so I am not sure they will take it |

Your Masters degree may not be an advantage as far as Australia immigration system. Just as Manga5 adviced, what matters is going for a skill which gives you better chances of been nominated. For me tradies tend to be more advantageous. oscarkilo100: Wow. But I have A Masters in Mechanical Engineering (power plant). Would that be wise going through as a technician? You can drive with your naija drivers license as long as you want. Restrictions come when you become a permanent resident. With PR, you have got about 6 months to get Aussie License depending on the state you are. DoDirtsLikeWorm: I do not know if such License exists, na the same drivers license people are using. I believe it can be used for a couple of months before a restriction can get to it. |

The Federal government through the department of home affairs nominate people for 189 visa while state government nominate people for 190 and 491 Visa. It is after you have been nominated that you can apply to department of home affairs for your respective Visa. Some states have started nominating people. dzamaka: Thank you We are on it Have the Australian government resumed offshore nomination? |

With your educational qualification, you are better off assessing with TRA which i believe is an advantage. Greatnnamdi: I have 2+ years mechanical Technician and 1 year Technician training from a manufacturing company and currently I was offered a Mechanical Engineer position.
My educational background is HND (Higher National Diploma) in Mechanical Engineering from Nigeria.
I have checked my qualifications credibility for an accord standard by the EA (Engineer Australia) and in my country (Nigeria) there is no accord standard.
So am asking now, with my HND (educational qualifications) and Mechanical Engineer position and my mechanical Technician experience, how long will I work as an engineer to be eligible for a positive skill assessment for a Mechanical engineer by the Engineer Australia (EA).
Or
Am I still under TRA skill assessment for a fitter with my Mechanical Engineer position and my HND.
Please do help me in this regard.
Thanks. |

dzamaka: Hello everyone, good evening. I must commend the brains behind this concept. You guys are the best. Please I have a quick question
My husband is 36 years, a civil engineer and over 8 years work experience as a civil engineer. Would he be considered for offshore PR in Australia? Should we go ahead and apply now or wait a little for offshore nomination to resume Before your husband can apply for nomination, he is expected to have his skills assessed by the relevant assessing body (Engineers Australia) and should have his English language test result. |

I would advice you create different EOI for each state. Every state has her requirements which you may not be able to meet on one EOI. For example, Tasmania will not nominate you if you have selected other states too in your EOI. You could also consider TRA as tradies are high demand. flyca: Ha, please o. I have been on this journey since October 2019. Electrical Engineering too EA assessed in 2018. PTE all 90 in October 2019. My points was all time high at 95 then. Created EOI across board.
On paper it may look good, but in reality..... hmmmm for offshore candidates. At one point only Northern Terriotory (read up what NT is like first) was open but proof of funds no be here. Even the recently released SA occupation list has no Electrical Engineering. Look before you leap. Be very sure before you spend your hard earned money.
I am here to learn too. |
